No apps connect to MY internet, but connect fine on my neighbours net?

Q: No apps connect to MY internet, but connect fine on my neighbours net?

I am trying to use limewire, couterstrike, bitcomet etc, but nothing apart from firefox/I.E. and windows live messenger can connect to MY internet. everything workd perfectly on my neighbours internet, when accessed from my own laptop. Please help me. Thanks.

Preferred Solution: No apps connect to MY internet, but connect fine on my neighbours net?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Try checking out your router setup it may be blocking those programs. You may need to login to the router and "enable" the programs as I notice they are P2P programs and quite often you have to permit their use. Try googling for "enabling p2p on my xxxx router" where xxxx is the make / model number

I just bought this laptop about 10 days ago to use specifically for a writing project separate from my other work laptop. It has Windows 7. It had Google Chrome installed (or maybe my brother installed it upon taking it out of the box.) I have
used IE as my browser on this laptop once or twice, but mostly use Google Chrome. I downloaded some genealogy software I just bought today about an hour or so ago (Family Tree Maker 2012) and noticed that it would not connect to the internet to register- it
kept saying "No internet connection". After trying a few things (allowing the program access through Windows Firewall, checking to make sure that "proxy server" tab was not checked in Internet Settings, disabling some Bing Maps and Windows
Live email accelerators) and finally tried closing Chrome and opening IE to run in background instead. However, IE won't connect - keeps saying "Cant display webpage" although I am definitely connected to internet via wifi. I tried resetting Internet
Explorer...no dice. I've restarted several times. Nothing is working. Any suggestions?
My husband thinks i should uninstall Chrome, which he guesses is causing all the trouble with both IE and the Family Tree software. But I'm afraid that if I uninstall Chrome and it doesnt work, i wont be able to get back on the internet since I can presently
only do so through Chrome.
I dont have a whole lot of experience troubleshooting computers, so please be spec... Read more

A:IE won't connect to internet, but Chrome is working fine. Other software wont connect to internet either.

Uninstalling Chrome should not be nessesary it does have an agressive default install which should not be used but uninstalling will not fix any issues because chromes uninstall will not change
setting back the way they were before you installed it/ or who ever.
Reset ie9 manually,
Click the Start button on the Taskbar,
Click on Control panel,
Click on Internet options,
Go to the Advanced section,
Click on Reset button on the bottom,
Check the box to Delete personal settings,
Use the recommended setup and install options.
Also see this,
New computers come with pre-installed security suites/ Trial versions,
The best thing to do with these trial versions is to Uninstall them,
Use these instead,
Freebie from microsoft,
If money isn't an issue add the full pro version of malwarebytes, less than mcafee or norton,

Then use the free version of this as well for even more ways to clean your machine,

I have an annoying issue with my internet connection. From time to time i can't connect to Steam, Battle.net or download from torrents (I'm mentioning torrents becuase there might be a connection). I share the internet with 10 other people all of them connected mostly via wi-fi. Is is possible that the connection is too low to connect to the already mentioned above servers? There is nothing wrong with my pc or internet settings because it works fine for a week and then all of a sudden not. Once we tried to hard reset the main router and after that it worked just fine.
Realy don't know what might be the reason and I would love to finally find out what's causing it.
The router is http://www.planet.com.tw/en/product/...t.php?id=34631
The modem is provided by austrian telecom company and is this one Pirelli PRG AV4202N

pretty stumped with this. All seemed to be fine until I accepted to try some AVG anti-virus thing for free yesterday morning..I have AVG on my PC and the invitation seemed to be coming FROM the program, now I suspect not.

- Can't connect to the Internet.
- I can connect to my wifi network AND to the internet from my phone, laptop, PS3 and PS4.

This is what I've tried and what I have done that I think may have made the problem worse. Ugh.

- I tried uninstalled AVG, when I couldn't uninstall one of the programs titled "avg protection" (there were 2 and one uninstalled fine), I deleted the file folder alltogether. Still didn't fix it and it seems like part of the program froze upon installation which prohibited me from uninstalling AVG properly. I kept getting a message saying "you can't uninstall this program without uninstalling programs associated with it first..." or something to that nature. I tried to uninstall "avg protection" but it kept restarting the installation from the beginning but couldn't do anything because it needed an internet connection. Ugh. I feel that deleting the AVG program from my PC may have been a bad move after doing some reading.

- I tried system restore to a few different points. NOPE. Tried it through safe mode..NOPE.

- I run the network diagnostics tool. It tells me to unplug my router/modem...wait three minutes, blah, blah...when I click continue I get "runtime error prog... Read more

I googled the problem but nothing came up

A:NO PROGRAMS can connect to internet, WND says EVERYTHING is fine!!

I have not had much luck with the network diagnostics in Windows 7 myself, a few points for you, however: what do you have for a NIC driver in the Device Manager, Network Adapters? What does your connection status look like in Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center? Try to run "IPCONFIG /ALL from a command prompt, if you are getting a 169.254.x.x address (Automatic IP Addressing), then you will not connect. Suggest resetting TCP/IP from an elevated command prompt, since you cannot connect to the Internet, I have provided the process for you:
For Windows 7 and Windows Vista
To open a command prompt, click Start and then type cmd in the Search programs and files box.
Under Programs, right-click the CMD.exe icon, and then click Run as administrator.
When the User Account Control box appears, click Yes.
At the command prompt, enter the following command, and then press Enter:

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note If you don't want to specify a directory path for the log file, run the following command instead:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
Also, try turning off the Windows Firewall as a troubleshooting step. Hope this helps.

My internet is fine, I can browse the web, watch videos, and connect to Steam.
The issue arises when I try to connect to a game of League of Legends, connect to a CSGO server, or take screenshots with Gyazo or Puush.
When taking a screenshot with Gyazo I get the error "The application cannot connect to the internet. Please confirm the setting for your third party security software, internet proxy, or firewall. Error 12029: A connection with the server could not be establish."
When taking a screenshot with Puush "Connection with the server went wrong"
When trying to get into a game of CS:GO it just tells me to raise my max ping settings.

I seem to have a strange problem.
See, recently Internet Explorer has stopped working on my Vaio. After that Opera (the one I use the most) stopped as wel, saying that it can't connect to the server. And 2 day's ago Firefox started doing the same thing. But my internet connection is perfect! MSN messenger works fine and the browser in LimeWire works as well. But I don't want to stay stuck with that so I used System Restore. I restored my computer to a point ten day's ago. In the beginning IE worked again, Opera and Firefox didn't. But I was happy enough with that. So I shut my computer down yesterday evening. But now, when I started my computer up again, IE doesn't work anymore either!
I'm now using the browser in Windows Media Player.
I have no idea what could have caused this. I only know that Opera stopped working after I had installed a new version of it (9.60).

If anyone has any insperation as to what the cause is or where the problem might be...

I posted this thread on Club Vaio Forum and they seem to think it's some kind of malware. I've seen another thread on this site about someone with a simmilar problem but there wasn't any solution given.
If anyone could help me out?

I have a new router connected to my internet from FIOS. I was sick of the ActionTec router requiring a reboot every few days in order to get it to hand out ip addresses again, so I purchased a Ubiquiti edgmax router. After changing the MAC address of the
router to match the MAC address of the actiontec router, I was able to get it functioning. Sadly, that's when the weirdness began. I am able to connect to the internet fine on almost all my devices. I have two Roku streaming media players and an Ooma Ip phone
box that connect to the internet fine with the new router. All my iOS devices connect fine to the internet. I have a dual boot desktop connected via Ethernet and when I boot to Linux, it connects to the internet fine. If I reboot to Win7 (same exact hardware!),
there is no internet connection. I can see the other devices in the network map (I see the Brother printer and the Roku boxes) that are on this side of the firewall, but Internet access past the firewall is not available (red X between router and Internet).
I have done a virus scan using both MalwareBytes and AVG (in safe mode), and there are no virus found by either. I can reconnect the crappy Actiontec router and everything is fine. I also tried bringing the router, wifi access point and Win7 laptop (that
was NOT connecting to the internet at my home) to my office and connected it all here, and it works fine!
To say that I am frustrated would be an understatement.

I have two computers, both running Win 7 Pro.  One performs normally in all ways.  The other was fine until a few days ago;  we moved from a hotel WiFi network to a residential cable modem/router, and anything requiring an internet connection suddenly became very unreliable.  Browsers spin their wheels endlessly, Outlook 2010 won't connect to the Gmail IMAP servers, and so on.  The network connection is fast and stable from the other computer.  Both computers run Avast Internet Security, with weekly full scans scheduled.  Both the hotel and the residential networks have been treated as public networks. A quick scan with Avast revealed no malware on the malfunctioning computer.  The good computer is an old HP Pavillion DV7 4070us, the bad one is a newer Sony Vaio VPCSC1AFM. Nothing else has been changed recently.
I tried Malwarebytes.  Initially, it balked at the update, but after a restart it updated its database successfully.  It froze when I tried a scan.  I ran Rkill (nothing detected) and TDSSKiller (no threats found) then Malwarebytes again (no malware found.)
I also have tried changing DNS servers, and disabling IPv6.
I have tried the malfunctioning computer on a guest network at work, and have experienced no difficulties there.  That points to something on the residental network that isn't getting along with something on the malfunctioning computer.  I'm not knowledgab... Read more

Firefox and IE won't connect to the internet or load any of the pages. The internet connection is fine. I thought it was the router/wireless at home...I took it to work and it connected to the wireless here. It was fine...I just can't get my browsers to load. I have vista and the latest version of firefox and IE

I've checked:
1.)Anti-Virus/Malware software - Scanned, and disabled temporarily to see if this was the cause: It was not.
2.) Router/Wireless - Says connected. I've pinged a few addresses and they're all responding
3.) Firefox Setting: It's directly connected to the internet; no manual proxy setting or anything
4.) IE Setting: Ditto
5.) An IPConfig run shows that things are working fine, connection wise...I wonder if I missed something or screwed up the settings somewhere.
6.) Re-installed Firefox and IE: Nothing changed

I have a new DELL XPS M2010 that I want to connect using wireless card. OS - Vista, Linksys Router, when I try to "Diagnose and Repair" I get the response "Cannot communicate with Primary DNS Server".

I've tried a few things, such as connecting to other unsecured wireless internet connections and I was able to connect to the Internet then. I also looked at another thread on this site that suggested to add a DNS Server to the list of and nothing happened with that.

So my internet has been a bit slow lately, and I've noticed when I load certain pages I get redirected, especially on my phone, but also on my laptops. I suspect there is something wrong in my router itself, but I'm unable to access it. When I use the gateway mask to access it, I just get "Connection timed out." I'm using the right IP, and I double checked it with ipconfig, but I can't access it. I've tried on my phone and laptop, I've tried over the wireless and wired connections, but I can't get in.

I'm trying to avoid having to factory reboot the router, which is why I'm hoping people here might have an idea.

I find it really odd, and troubling, that I can't even access my router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What IP address are you using to access the router?
Have you confirmed that the router has a web browser based interface?
What is the Brand, Model Number, and any hardware and/or firmware version of your router?

I have a DELL Inspiron 5000 Series Laptop.  I am unable to access any websites via wireless or direct connect.  The modem shows that  the signal is going to the unit, but no signal is returning.  I have tried several ports on the modem, including one connected to a working computer.  I have also tried several cables.  The computer says it is successfully connected to our network.  This just started out of the blue.
Any ideas?

A:Apps do not connect to the Internet

What "signal" are you referring to that's being shown as going to the modem but not returning?  If you're referring to the signal coming to the modem from your Internet provider, then if your modem can't get a stable connection in both directions, you're not going to have an Internet connection for anything until that's resolved.  You could try unplugging the power to the modem for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in to see if that resolves it, otherwise you'd have to contact your ISP.  There may be an outage in your area or they may have to come out and investigate something. The computer saying it's connected to the network just means that it's connected to your local network.  The router's wired network jacks and WiFi radio will continue to accept connections, and it will continue to issue IP addresses to allow devices on your home network to communicate with each other if needed, but that does not mean that you have a connection OUT of your network.

Problem arose yesterday. I've ran diagnostics and turned the router on and off, plugged the Ethernet in for a better connection. My hp envy 17 laptop finds no problems with the connection yet I cannot access any pages through the web browsers properly. I've restarted my laptop several times and sometimes a page will load but never load completely and if I click a link on the page it will not load at all. My Skype works fine and I've ran a full scan with panda security which has detected no problems. I haven't downloaded anything in the space of when my laptop was working fine and when it stopped working, in fact I barely used it at all. I've tried all the conmand prompts I've seen suggested in previous cases like this i.e. The netsh winsock etc. sort of stuff but they haven't seemed to work. I did have a message pop up briefly on my laptop that there was an IP conflict and i thought that might have been something to do with it, i tried everything i could to get a new IP address, i did the ipconfig /release /renew thing, i tried leaving the modem and router cables out all night so i'd get a new one from my ISP but none of these actually worked, after checking i can see that i still have the same IP address.

But it still didnt make sense to me because its not only my laptop that cant connect to games, the other laptop and the ipads are also having the same problem. Well if you can connect in safe mode but not normally then that sould point to some software or driver conflict.
VPN installed of third party firewall? What about AV that might have a firewall. You can post a FRST log that may provide some clues:

Hello I have been having some problems using third party apps on my computer. The problem came out of no where. I was using my pc the night before and everything worked fine and I put it to sleep for the night. The next day after work I get it out of sleep mode and no third party app can connect to the internet. I'm connected to the internet but all my apps such as Steam, Origin, and even like adobe update can't connect. The only apps that can connect are IE and Firefox. I have no fire wall at the moment. Running windows 7. I opened the ports on my router that the apps need. I reinstalled the apps, restarted my computer, reset my router, system restored to a time when everything worked. I'm all out ideas and am hoping someone here can help me. I was thinking about reformatting as a last resort, but I really don't wanna go through the hassle right now. I don't know if my ISP(Verizon) is blocking any port thats no http or what. If you need anymore information I'll get back to you asap. Thanks for your time.

ASUS laptop running windows 8

I rarely use Win 8 apps, and run in desktop mode almost exclusively. Was having issues and was suggested I advance the OS to 8.1. That requires Store app. Store app gives a very generic "unable to connect" message with no options.
I've done some research here and tried various things to no avail:
-refresh the store app
-a few cmd things
-turned off McAfee AND windows firewall

Some suggest doing some type of system restore which claims to wipe out all desktop system apps. No thanks. That seems quite extreme for a program/connectivity issue.

I'm uploading the cmd details as graphics below.

A:Win 8 Apps/store won't connect to internet

From my personal experience i wouldn't move to 8.1 until i was comfortable with the state of what i have.
For what it's worth i have a similar problem with 8.1, the win 8.1 APPS STORE starts and then waits.
I have tried all of these (below) without success but they may work for you under win 8.

One thing i have not tried, because i don't know how to do it is to find the appsStore info on C: and rename it to see if Win rebuilds it. Maybe after renaming it create an empty folder.
If anyone knows how to do that please let me know

The things i have tried....

Run as administrator for all of this where relevant.
1. clean boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows
Make sure you scroll down to win 8.
2. Run wsreset.exe as administrator.
3. examine c:\windows\Logs\CBS and DISM
as administrator, in cmd.exe
or WinKEY + X - Command Prompt (ADMIN) :

Type in at the prompt OR Copy and Paste these one at a time : (Hit enter after each)

(These run slowly -- maybe >10min)

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

see How to Use DISM to Fix Component Store Corruption in Windows 8/8.1 and Windows Server 2012

check the two log files.

Repeat the previous steps for clean boot, wsreset

Good luck.

My weather, news, finance, travel and maps tiles can never connect to internet even though I can, at the same time, browse and download. I tried to figure it out in many ways but failed eventually . When I click any of those tiles, it opens and a message pops up and says the app cannot connect to the internet. The network indicator on top-right side of the tile also shows 'Offline'. The tiles show sample data only. My computer gets automatically connected to internet after log in. So the tiles should have got connected. I'm really frustrated now

SOLUTION: In typical techie fashion as soon as i ask for help I solve the problem. I did crtl + r -> ncpa.cpl -> properties -> configure -> advanced -> network access -> Type in the unique address seen for the network adapter when ipconfig is run, type it without dashes. This worked immediately.

My PC is Windows 8.1 and it hasn't had internet issues before. Last night it stopped connecting to the internet. This morning is has been the same. Wireless connections are working fine but my desktop doesn't have a wireless card so i need to fix the wired issue with it.

I've tried the ethernet cable on other devices and they work, so i think it must be PC settings. I PC restored to last night 7pm and it didn't fix it. I've tried ipconfig /release and /renew and it didn't work. I've tried uninstalling AVG and turning off firewalls. I still am getting the yellow triangle with "no internet access"

IPv4 Address
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway

I've tried updating network card drivers and disabling and re-enabling it. Anyone able to help please?

A:Can't connect to internet wired from desktop. Other devices working fine.

and welcome to the Forum

Lets take a peek at your network environment:

Power Cycle everything . . Turn off the Modem, router and all pc's . . turn on the Modem and wait a few minutes for the lights to stabilize . . then turn on the router, then one pc at a time. See if you connect to the internet.

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for the network again.

Then: check your browser's settings, remove any proxy settings if found here's how.

with the pc connected to the router, Click on Start . . Run . . type CMD

At the > prompt type or copy and paste the following command:

ipconfig/all > 0 & notepad 0

and press enter.

Come back here and Paste the results in a message.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB drive, or a CD-R disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

then please Download and run this Xirrus WiFi Inspector, click the Networks link on the upper left and paste a screen shot of that screen here. Note that this application requires NET Framework to run. If you get an error about a missing function, download and install NET Framework.

I have found many similar problems to mine, but not the exact one so here goes.

HP Pavilion, Windows 7, 64 bit home premium, i7. Westell 327W wireless router (at&t version)

I have no problem at all connecting to the internet via the wireless connection in my new desktop. But often when I connect with the LAN enabled it simply refuses to connect. The problem is very repeatable with yahoo.com, att.com/speedtest and other sites. I can see and access the rest of my network fine wired only. And on the occasions I have been able to connect, the speed tests are fine.

I just have no idea why it occasionally refuses to connect (have not been able to connect to these sites for several hours now after multiple reboots) via wired and never has any issues over wireless. I have already disabled the router firewall and have the same issue with all non-windows services disabled.

A:Windows 7 machine fine to internet via wireless / won't connect wired

You need to decide whether the problem is with the wired ports on the router or with the computer that is plugged in. Have you got another computer you can plug in to the router?

My desktop (windows 7 ultimate 64bit) has been able to connect fine to the internet until I got home from work this morning. My laptop is connecting to the same modem fine through wireless (along with my wii). The modem I am using is Motorola SB 901. When I rightclick my connection on my desktop and hit troubleshoot problems, I get 'local area connection 2 doesn't have a valid ip configuration'. Same thing happens when I switch the ethernet cord to local area connection 1. When I go to control panel, network and internet, network and sharing, the connection map at the top stops between my pc and the network (which is now labeled as 'unidentified network').

Here is a list of what I have done so far to try and resolve the issue:

1. Replaced the ethernet cord with one I know is working
2. Full scanned my pc for viruses
3. Disabled all firewalls and virus protection programs
4. Restored my pc to a previous save state
5. Reset winsock with cmd via these prompts: netsh winsock reset catalog and netsh int ip reset reset.log hit
6. This attempt is unfinished as I am getting stuck. I am attempting to setup a static ip to attempt to resolve the issue, but when I open cmd and type ipconfig/all, the default gateway under my local area connection is completely blank.

Here is what comes up with ipconfig/all:

A few days ago my desktop booted up very slowly and I was not able to connect to any webpages or any programs which use the internet. I just left it to sit for a few days and tried to boot it up again today, it still booted rediculously slow (took about 10 minutes) but it's still not working so I figured I'd register here and ask for some help. The router which I have connected to my desktop's modem is used to give internet to my laptop is still working fine (I'm posting this from my laptop). I've tried to do a system restore on my desktop, but the restores get an error and don't work. Also when i do the system restores, my desktop icons wont load so i have to end the explorer.exe process and then run the process again, after which all the icons show. (this only happens after I system restore). Another thing that is weird is that I can still connect to AIM (the instant messanger) on my desktop, but nothing else. Not sure what to do at this point, hopefully you guys can help.

A friend has a slight issue. I am sorry i do not have there pc specs to hand. The internet is fine & the hub was checked by virgin. When you view the connection manager it shoes 3 icons on the home network. A bridge from there PC, to the router(which is green) then a bright to the internet thats black with a X in the middle. The tool tip display on the internet connectivity system tray says "local connect only" i did manage to get "Local connect & internet" once but it still would not connect. The diagnostic tool could not resolve the issue. But it says check your domain name server(DNS)

What programs can i run? I was thinking maybe dial a fix but could not get connected to download it? I will also run MBAM & remove AVG and replace it with another. Any suggestions?

Please remember i am not by or near there machine until tomorrow.

I'm not really sure where to post this, please move if needed.

My internet connection is fine, programs such as MSN work, but when I go to either Internet Explorer it displays the 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' notice on every page that I try to connect to, also displays a 'Page loading error' notice on every page that I try to visit.

The problem appeared to start when I installed an update for Firefox, and at the time I had an old version of IE which worked fine, although the updated Firefox did not display any pages, I decided to update to IE8, because the version I had installed was pretty ancient, after which IE also began to display this problem.

I have fiddled with my firewall settings, to no avail.

Incidentally I am now using an old version of MSN explorer, which works to display webpages (which is how I am managing to post this!) I am guessing it is something to do with the updates, although I'm not an expert.

Any clues as to what I can do to fix it (I don't want to be stuck with this awful MSN browser!)

Thanks in advance

A:Internet connection working fine, browsers can't connect to any sites.

Try opening a command window (type cmd into yor run box and click ok)
Then type 'netsh winsock reset' and hit enter.
You should get a message 'successfully reset winsock catalogue' or similar.
then restart your computer

I've spent ages scouring Google and trying different things but with no joy and so would appreciate any help!

I upgraded my Windows 7 laptop to Windows 8 and none of the apps work and they all show offline. When I open the desktop I can use the internet with no problem. In the network and sharing options it says that I am not connected to a network when clearly I am so I'm guessing it is possibly a network/IPv6 issue?

Any ideas?
