I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My brother game me a lenova computer. Vista operating system, and some free antivirus software.

I got a message from Security Essentials that I didn't like, and since I assumed it was just an antivirus program, I deleted it and installed Panda.

Then I got a message saying Activate Windows. It would go away after a few seconds, so I never clicked on it. Besides, Windows was working just fine.

Just put the computer to sleep, tried to wake it up, it wouldn't wake up.

Did a hard restart.

Now, the screen comes up with the message, To interupt normal post, press enter. I press enter, nothing happens.

The little green light that should flicker to indicate hard drive is churning away does not flicker.

I put in the System Restore disk, and hit F12, and now it gives me the "To interrupt normal ost, press enter.
Below that, the Entering boot menu

Finally after about 5 minutes the boot menu came up and I was able to boot it using the system recovery disk.

I'm used to a Mac reboot where it will just start up and show me the hard drive etc.

But what this boot disc wants to do is reinstall Windows entirely, which I don't want to do.

Is that my only option?

Thanks for any help.

(And yes, I'm a newbie and should not have been messing with things I know nothing about!)

A:Monitor frozen on "To interrupt normal post, press enter"

And I see this message finally showed up. I'd posted it about 10 minutes ago, it never showed up, and in that time the computer had finally booted up of its own accord and it's now back to normal.

But for how long?

This error happens every time I try to boot my PC.

First sign of something going wrong was the wireless internet not connecting to any network, after rigorously scanning fr viruses there was a trojan my anti-virus software could not get rid of. Occasionally, my system starts up if I'm lucky, but having this problem I have left my PC off for quite some time, came back to it today and it turned on fine although being very slow. Also, when the computer starts it makes a little beep noise but being on the desktop it kept repeating the noise over and over as if it was stuck in a loop, then after around 5 minutes the blue screen error message came up, after this it just keeps displaying the disc boot failure message.

I have no idea how to fix this as I am no computer boffin, any help would be highly appreciated!

Thanks, Sam.

I have given my 40GB ATA HDD to my friend to fetch some movies he has got in his 160GB SATA HDD. He configured my HDD as secondary master and copied all the movies to mine. Later he removed my HDD and rebooted the system to find that his HDD isn't booting up. He says that his HDD isn't being detected in the BIOS. The well known error message "No bootable device found. Insert system disk and press Enter" appears every time he tries to boot his system. What can the solution other than formatting?? ( Formatting isn't favourable as there is critical data in the HDD).

Ok first off I want to say I've searched and searched and searched to no avail in trying to find a solution to this I've come to the conclusion it's software and not hardware based. Let me start from the top.

I've had an older computer (HP Pavilion a408x) out of commission for a while due to a 'sploded psu. I finally get around to ordering one, install it and everything is good. I bring it back to my office and hook it up to the internet and as expected there's updates. So I up date it and after the updates are installed the computer restarts automatically (weird yes) and as it's coming back on it detects errors and runs CHKDSK. So I let it run and it gets to part 2 of 3. At this point in time my partner is really needing to print sometime and all computers print through this computer. So after about 45 minutes CHKDSK is still on part 2 at only 15%. So I'm like "screw it" and manually shut down and restart. It's at this point I get a "primary master hard disk failure" at the boot screen. Letting start up continue I get a "Stop : c000021 unknown hard error \systemroot \system 32 \ntdll.dll" At this point I realize something is delectably wrong.

Found this thread, which didn't help much. At some point the c000021 error stops and I start getting "disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter" and I found this thread, which didn't help much either. I have also been searching other sites as well.

Here's what I found ou... Read more

Ok, I built a PC a month ago and everything seemed find no problems of any sort. The other night I defragmented my hard drive and shut it down and turned it on today to a memory test and the message "Disk Boot Failure, Insert system Disk and press enter"

The computer has access to the XP pro w/ sp2 disk only as a boot device but it will not recognize it now.

I have set Cd-rom as 1st for boot sequence then hard drive I have no floppy drive and the bios has been configured to know that.

I am not sure if this means anything but in the bios the IDE Channel 0 Master says none and when I try to turn on auto detection it wont detect a hard drive.

The HDD is fully connected and has not been touched since I installed it a month ago.

I have this awful feeling that I fried the HDD when I defragmented it last night.

Any help would be very much appreciated. But please be simple this is my first build and my knowledge at this sort of thing is very very sketchy at best.

I had a fresh install of 7 and everything was working fine.
All of a sudden it starts randomly freezing and programs start responding.
I got KERNAL_PAGING_ERROR BSODs etc. and got a new disk, thinking it was that.
After cloning the new disk which didn't work, and produced loads of errors on chkdsk, I decided to do a clean install of 7.

I still keep getting "Disk boot error, insert system disk and press enter", and when it does boot, it freezes all the time and every time I click the start button, it basically crashed and is messed up.

Tried new SATA cable and ports. Any ideas?

Hi there,

Well, the message I get it pronounced above in the title. I know a little bit about computers, but I don't know how to get into DOS, BIOS, etc when I don't have a start menu to do so. I read some other threads and they seemed to have useful information, but I would need further explanation. Also - I hooked my HD into another computer to see if it would work, it did, booted up, everything. Also, when I went into Boot Setup or something - blue screen and the only thing I could do when hooked into my computer - it doesn't show any options for booting - it says select from the list - but how do I do that when there's nothing in the list? Oh please do help me as this computer is my main source for writing.

Thanks,

A:Problem: "Disk Boot Failurs, Insert System Disk and Press Enter"

If you're running a HP what it's asking for is your System Restore Disk. Meaning the HP OS that came with your system. Finding Bios in HP are generally simultaneously with Start button on casing F1 or F11. If neither key works then try F2 and or the Delete button. Making sure each key is pushed as you boot up.
Once your in Bios use the arrow keys to scroll up and down your bios - the enter key once on the various listing in menu until you find your boot sequence listings. In general plus and minus are used to change the sequence. CDrom HD and floppy is the correct setting. But with your Restore Disk from HP it might not even require all that.
Pop it is and Boot up and see if it works. Then try the Bios sequence if you can get there, the F10 to save and enter making sure your CD with the OS is in your CDRom when you do.
Let us know as things go...Jazz
Sounds like you've either lost your OS or you've lost your HD.

Hello everyone, been lurking for a while, but first time posting because I could use some help. I tried looking through other threads, but nothing seemed to help. I was downloading a game off of Steam, and my family computer just crashed. It apparently restarted itself, and presented that disk boot error message. Tried restarting again using ctrl+alt+del, and same situation occurs. I go into the BIOS screen, and try to use the auto detect to identify the drive, but it is not identified. All of the cables are working correctly, as I plugged a different drive into them and that drive booted fine. Btw, the hard drive is a western digital 5000AAKS.

I'm running an AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+, 2412 MHz, 2 gb of ram, Windows Vista Home Basic. Its a Compaq SR5110NX. I'm not overclocking it or anything, just downloading a game, and then this happened. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

My cousin recently made me a computer and he sent it all the way here from the United States. I was eager to try it out and hooked it up to my monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc. I did not plug in any additional USB devices.

When I boot up the computer it gives me "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER".

I couldn't get past this (I don't have the Windows XP disk), and so I restarted the computer and pressed 'Del' to get into the (I think it's called BIOS menu? Not sure, the blue screen thing), I looked at the boot up priorities and moved Hard Disk to one priority level above Disk boot, however this made no difference.

I am good with the computers but not when it comes to hardware and things like this. So PLEASE if you use a term I may be unfamiliar with please explain what it is. I am very frustrated and disappointed that this does not work.

Thank you very much,

Hato

Welcome to TSG!!

I'm guessing that, perhaps, a cable has come loose during shipping. Open the computer's case and look around. Usually the hard drive is mounted toward the front of the system. It's a device about 3.5" wide by 5" long and about an inch thick. There should be two cables plugged into the back end, one of which comes from the power supply, the other should be plugged into the motherboard.

Disk Boot Failure. Insert System Disk And Press Enter

Hi i have a self built Quad Phenom 9850 XP Home ed PC that wont boot, i will say now i am very much a newbie to this so sorry in advance.

When i turn it on there is a very long wait at the set-up screen (an s-series gigabyte M750SLI-DS4 board ) and when it gets to boot screen it builds the DMI pool, tell me there is a data change and to update new data to DMI! and then goes to boot, only giving me this instead "DISK BOOT FAILURE. INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"

I have not yet managed to get the computer working, the thing that gets to me the most is that less than 12 hours ago i was sat on the computer with it working fine and no errors..

AMD Phenom 9850 2.5GHZ
Gigabyte S-series M750SLI-DS4 board
4 GB RAM
Seagate 1TB HARD DRIVE.

There is alot to loose on this computer so i am very much hoping this wont be the case, Thank you in advance.

AMD Athlon 64 4400 Processor
4 GB RAM
1 IDE 250GB Maxtor HD
1 IDE 200GB Maxtor HD
1 SATA Samsung 20x Dual Layer DVD-RW

Now I have assembled everything to the best of my knowledge correctly, I can boot the computer to BIOS without any problm whatsoever.

The problem is when I either try to load the motherboard driver disc, or my Windows XP disc I get this message;

"Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter",
I have tried setting my disc drive to first boot device, I have even unplugged my two HDs as well, but to no avail.

My last hope is my USB flash drive, onto which I have copied the software from my motherboard driver disc.

Dores anyone have any suggestions as to how I fix this?, I will be very grateful to anyon that can give me some form of help,

Hi,

I'm currently running on a m2n32-SLI Deluxe WIFI edition with a 320GB maxtor harddrive. Previously, I had my set up like this: One SATA from maxtor to the mobo, one IDE cable with my cd drive, as master, and my old HD(30 GB w/ my documents) as slave. It was running fine with Vista on the maxtor. However, I wanted to remove the old HD and place a new CD-drive in. I did so, and I received the above error message.

I took out the the new CD-drive and switched back to my old connection, and it worked great.

Then, I had the 320 GB connected, and the old cd-drive to the IDE. I get the error message. I've tried every single possible combination of jumper settings and replaced the IDE cables.

What do I need to do to get this to work, before I throw my computer out the window?

A:"Disk Boot Failure, Insert System Disk And Press Enter"

Windows has detected the change as an attempt at piracy. You will now have to reinstall Windows in repair mode, then talk to Microsoft over the phone to get it re-established.
This is common with OEM versions of Windows. Windows will detect any change in the hardware, other than memory, as a possible attempt to bypass the Windows Install parameters... it thinks the computer has been changed.
You might want to do a thorough search of the www.microsoft.com knowlege base.

After I set up BitLocker to encrypt "C" partition, it gave me pop-up window, that I should restart PC to test the BitLocker loader. So I clicked Yes. And after few seconds I got this:

JPG IMAGE - http://www.eightforums.com/attachments/f1/f2/22871d1370880908t-very-strange-bitlocker-enter-password-startup-screen-5jkippr.jpg

Mind, I'm still ABLE TO type password (i can't see sh** though), after I hit enter Windows IS booting, but it's really weird to see above picture instead of:

My GFX is OK, I tested it with games, benchmarks etc.
BitLocker simply cannot, for whatever reason, use my video card properly and displays those weird lines. After all - it hasn't loaded the whole Windows yet. Than again, it IS a bit strange, as Windows installers tend to work fine.

Any thoughts people?

I'm trying to reformat the hard drive on our 2nd computer, and I have properly changed (and saved) the BIOS settings for Boot priority to "CD/DVD". In fact, I disabled all other choices for 2nd and 3rd priorities, etc. All the tech support/instruction articles I've found tell me I've succeeded here if I get the line "Press any key to boot from CD", which I have. However, when I press a key, in a moment it starts Windows up just like always, instead of giving me the blue screen.

The CD seems fine. I checked it from within windows, and the computer reads it correctly, and when I click on Setup, it brings up the menu of installation options, just like I want it to from the blue screen. Its just that I can't get to that point after the "Press any key..." part in the boot process.

What am I missing here?

Thanks!

Ok. I will list every detail of the problem and of my trials to solve it so that you could have as clear an idea as possible. Thanks in advance. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS PROBLEM FOR HOURS SO IT WOULD BE GREAAAAAAATLY APPRECIATED if anybody could help me out!

1.
I was trying to install Ubuntu, so need to boot from CD ( i know i can do that directly in windows using wubi, but that's not what I want to do. I am just trying to boot from CD and install Ubuntu on an allocation of memory i had set free for it.). I set the boot sequence to be 1.CD-ROM 2.Hard-disk 3.Removable. However, even under this settings my computer still directly goes to Windows. *:I do notice the CD-drive working at the beginning of the start-up, but then Windows comes out eventually *
2.
So I figured the problem might be the system did try to boot from CD but failed, so it then boots from harddisk and found Windows. Therefore I went into BIOS and set all 3 booting devices to be CD-ROM, then restarted. Now I have this error message : disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.

3.
The CD is good, because i tried to boot my laptop from it and it works well.

4.
I tried to upgrade my BIOS but couldn't because the system showed the same message when i tried to boot from the BIOS flash disk.

5. I built this desktop from scratch up, and when I first tried to install an OS to it, I used a CD and it booted well.. which is about 6 months ago. I never tried to boot it from CD since then. I ... Read more

I broke one of the "feet" on my old E-Machines PS/2 keyboard I have used for years and like. I also use one at work that's pretty close to the same layout. I am looking everywhere for a keyboard with a large "enter" and "backspace" I can't find one. I don't care if it's USB or PS/2 but hate the "flat" type that ship with computers these days you look at the key to hard and it presses. I have HUGE hands and like the "old style" keyboard that you have to press pretty hard on the keys (like an actual spring under them) Do any of you know of a specialty keyboard shop or somewhere else with a big selection? I have looked all over the internet on the "major" places. (i.e. Newegg, TigerDirect, BestBuy, Wal-Mart, etc...)

If anyone knows of a place that has "old style" keyboards please let me know. I may have to settle but for such a small purchase that I use so much, I'd like to get what I want and I can't be the only one with massive hands having these same issues. The world isn't made for us big guys.

This says it's for older versions of Windows but the instructions are still the same. Just reverse the instructions and make sure the programs are set to Normal and not Maximized. http://www.answersthatwork.com/Downl..._maximized.pdf

Hey guys,

I tried booting up my PC which has Windows 8 installed and it was working fine until yesterday.

It has a "Enter Password" screen upon start-up and I think it's a virus because it only lets me enter 10 characters and even though, I do put in the correct password, it still says it's incorrect. The computer also shuts down after 3 unsuccessful attempts.

I have attached a picture of the screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found out the issue is a BIOS password. I'm looking into making a HirensBootCD to get rid of it. Any suggestions?

Hi
Some time ago I purchased a samsung bluray player. The main reason was to get a 24fps capable netflix client, but it was also partly to get a media renderer compatible with Windows 8 (and 8.1) Play To/Play functionality.
While the "Play" functionality works in internet explorer (videos played OK, pictures shown in the center of the screen in low resolution) and so-so (for videos) in a 3rd party modern UI picasa viewer, I simply can't get it to work in the MS photos or videos apps nor can I get it to work for pictures in the mentioned 3rd party picasa viewer, "Picasapp". When I select devices in the mentioned apps I'm simply told something like "the app is not able to stream to any device at the moment" (I have a danish version of Windows and I can't remember the exact phrase so it's translated from memory).
As far as I can see the bluray player is a Windows certified media renderer so at the moment I'm quite stuck.
I would appreciate any help or pointers you can give me.
Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone,
I am trying to get the REST queries to work with the sharepoint end points instead of graph end points. I first created an app with relevant permissions and have given it the admin consent. Then I am hitting the https://login.microsoftonline.com/<tenant>.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/token?Content-Type=application/x-www-form-urlencoded end
point with https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com as resource. I am then using the access token retrieved to give the rest call to https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/_api/v2.0/drives/b!3indYSbqZ0-hVSPnCgIZy-2xDMh7jH9AuQnEzJMc6TEfQoSJvJT-R6tT0lFBQiPr/root/delta
but it is failing with "error":{"code":"generalException","message":"General exception while processing"}}. The REST response code is 401 Unauthorized. I have filed a Microsoft support ticket but they
have asked me to post on these forms. Can someone please help me with this? I am not able to move forward because the error is pretty generic and doesn't give any additional details.
Thanks,
Sai Kiran Katuri.

Hi,
I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. You can follow the steps below:
Drain the residual power of your computer and recaliberate the battery by following the steps below:

Power off your computer.
Remove all the external peripherals  (printers, scanners or any other USB device) connected to your computer.
Please remove the AC adapter and battery of your computer.
Press and hold the power button of your computer for 10-15 seconds to drain the residual power.
Release the power button
Keep the battery out for atleast 2 - 3 hours.
Then insert the battery and charge it overnight with the system powered off.
Insert the battery in and connect the AC adaptor.
Then power on the computer and see if it works.

If the issue still persists, you can update the BIOS of the computer.
Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.

Click on the below link: http://dell.to/Th8z4k
Click on “Download File”.
Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
Click on “Download Now”.
Save the BIOS on your desktop.
Once the BIOS is downloaded on the desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
Follow the prompts on screen and restart your computer.

 Please reply with the findings.

Everytime I turn on my computer, my screen doesn't turn on until after I've enterd windows and the windows startup sound comes. I've formatted my PC several times, even bought new motherboard and a new processor. After every fresh format, the problem is not there. But after I start installing the drivers it suddenly appears.

PS: I also have to add that both my keyboard and my mouse disconnects, after press on the computer.
Does anyone have any clue?
Thanks

try a different output of your gpu. bad cables will do that, especially display port.

I have a setup with 3 monitors.
Whenever I press Win+P and choose "PC screen only", Windows keeps playing an annoying sound every 5s.
When I look in the display properties or device managament, then it seems that Windows keeps 'losing' the secondary monitors, and auto-detects them again after a few seconds, when the device is in standby.
When I turn the monitors off, everything is fine.
But that's not a solution, because the buttons are pretty hard to reach, and I would like this to work instantly.

I just re-installed Windows yesterday. Before I remember that I had somehow solved this issue, but I can't remember how.

Please help!

I tried the suggested "TMM" "UseIViewHelper setting in registry, but it didn't work (even after a reboot). I also looked in my display driver's (AMD R9) tools for a setting to turn off monitor-auto-detection, but it seems the new Radeon tools don't offer that setting anymore.

Hey there,

Every time I try and play a pogo game I get stuck on the "loading game" screen and there is no advertisement being displayed, only an "action cancelled" screen and I sit there waiting for the game to load and it never loads. I use Microsoft VM Java (the one that the pogo site recommends to download in the help files) on Windows XP professional. I really would like to be able to play the pogo games so any help regarding this situation would be greatly appreciated,

Thank You

A:Get "Action Cancelled" screen when trying to play pogo games

You can try clearing out your cache in case you haven't already.

But in most cases, the 'action cancelled' error is most likely solved by renaming your Hosts files.

Start -> Find -> Files and Folders, or Start -> Search).

For File name, type in: HOSTS

Search your hard drive.

Rename all files that are called HOSTS (they should
appear as capital letters) You may find hosts.sam or lmhosts.sam, but those are just sample files, the hosts file has no extension, and can be opened in Notepad.
If the listings are in there, then just rename hosts to hosts.old.

You will probably have to restart your computer afterwards
Hope this helps you

I am having trouble streaming video files from my pc ( Windows 7 ) to my sony Bravia via wireless lan dongle. This has been working trouble free for over a year, until last week. When i stream to the tv using the "play to" function, the file plays, i can see the video and hear it but the screen is covered in a green haze. There are some avi files that i can play that play 100%. This is also happening when i play files via the server using the menu on my Sony Bravia to acess my video files on my pc.
Any help on this matter would be great.

I have a strange problem with the video game FATE, from WildGames.

The game screen appears to be "pushed" to the right hand side.

Nothing I do seems to stop this from happening. I've changed settings on both my monitor (refresh, screen dimensions, display resolution) and my video card (antialiasing, performance v.s quality, etc).

The strangeness:
When I try resizing the screen area, with my monitor, it cuts the game off at the right.
Taking a screenshot, as I was going to submit to you, simply shows the game screen correctly centered
Enabling/disabling Vsync from the game options screen seems to make the game flicker to change, and as it flickers, I can see the whole screen
Alt-Tabbing the game lets me see the whole screen from a brief second before I can see my desktop

I have Windows 2000 and a GeForce 5200 FX knockoff (256 MB) made by PNY (the "Verto"). It appears to run other games just fine. I have doctored the attached image to make it look like what I see when I run the game.

I've seen various places say that this feature is still in "beta" and a work in progress, but I had a strange experience with it yesterday, and I'm confused as to what's going on.

Up until yesterday, I was having what seems to be a common problem, in which when you hit the record button, it will act like it's recording for about ten seconds, then it will stop and say that there's nothing to record (I've already gone through the process of selecting that option that you can say it is a game that you're recording).

Yesterday, however, it seemingly started working properly. I was able to record several videos without that error occurring. The problem is, I attempted to record more later on in the evening, and once again, I started getting the same "ten second" error. I've tried again this morning, still getting the "ten second" error.

Anyone know what's up with this feature? Any idea why it seemed to work just fine yesterday morning, and then all of a sudden, it's back to not functioning correctly? I can't seem to discern any rhyme or reason for it. I've been trying to record from the same source that I successfully recorded from yesterday, so it's not like I've switched programs or anything.
