I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm trying to create an Ad-hoc network for use with my Android phone, however the phone does not discover the network.
I've browsed various forums and tried a few things, but with no success.
My laptop is able to detect other wireless networks. Wired Ethernet connection works fine.
ipconfig /all results are below. The broadcom wireless LAN adapter shows Media Disconnected.

I'm running Norton Internet Security and HP Wireless Assistant.
I'd really appreciate your help.

A:Wireless adapter media disconnected

I've solved my problem now. I didn't realise that Android didn't support connecting to an ad-hoc network. I needed to create a wireless hotspot. I found out how to do that at this site http://mintywhite.com/windows-7/set-windows-7-wifi-hotspot-quick-tip/
Also using dedicated Windows software like Connectify or virtualrouter.coldplex.com apparently also work.
Thanks for your service.

The ISATAP Tunneling Adapter is supposed to be disconnected. This is not in use at this time, but will possibly be used in the future.
What is the Make and Model# of your computer? Is your Wireless Built In? A WiFi Card? or a WiFi USB Adapter?
According to the IP Config log, you do not have a Wireless adapter installed. You are connected via an Ethernet cable and you should be able to browse the internet via cable.
Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, do you have any Yellow Flags next to any devices? Especially under Network Adapters? If so, those devices need drivers installed.
Try power cycling your Router/Modem (ie) unplug the Router, and or Modem, wait a few seconds and them plug them back in. Restart your computer. Wait about 5 minutes and try the internet.

Good day Guys,

I am owning an ASUS K55V laptop bought 2 years ago and occassionally have some problems with my ethernet-bluetooth bundle in the past but solved them with system restore and it worked.

The problem now was after hibernating my laptop today and opening it again, it failed to restore several times and I DUMPED MY RESTORE DATA and proceeded to full startup.

When everything has settled, I noticed that my ethernet-bluetooth bundle is not working (i.e. the ethernet cable cannot be detected) but my wireless networks are working. I tried sytem restore several times and it does not help this time. In summary here are the combo of problems:

1.) Atheros Ethernet software cannot be found in device manager
2.) Blutooth Peripheral Driver is not installed (the common windows 7 bluetooth peripheral problem)
3.) I typed ipconfig in the command prompt and here is the input:

Ethernet Adapter Bluetooth Conneciton 2:

Media State..............................:Media Disconnected
Connection-Specific DNS Suffix...:

Hope to hear from anyone and advance thanks for the help.

Regards,

The "Media Disconnected" usually means it is Disabled or the Device/Driver was not started up. Try re-installing the Driver, which should be in Windows Update by default if not, then I am not to sure, I need more information before I can actually tell you things that may help.

I need to know when the last time this was working (specifically), when it stopped working, if it stopped working if there was anything connected in the port, and lastly how often do you put the laptop in "Hibernation Mode?"

Hello!

I recently bought an Acer Aspire laptop (18.4" monitor). I am having difficulty connecting to the internet with this computer, and perhaps someone here can help me out. Here is some information:

Network Adapter: WiFi Link 5100 AGN
Router: Verizon Wireless (Model Name: MI424-WR)

Wireless network connections are detected, and the connection is "strong". However, when I try to connect, it always fails. When I go to the command prompt, and type "ipconfig" I see "Media Disconnected". I know there is a wireless button on the Acer's, but this is automatically turned on during startup, so I know this is not the problem. For some reason, my router is just not connecting to my network adapter, and I am unsure how to resolve this problem. Thanks for any insight of this issue!

A:Media Disconnected (WiFi Link 5100 AGN)

Maybe perhaps my wireless router is just not compatible with a Windows 7 64-bit system...

Dear all,

I'm using ZTE MF62 HSPA+ 21Mbps MIFI Portable Broadband Wifi Router
I used to connect it directly to my pc, and provide wifi to my others device.
All the while are ok, but yesterday I just found out that all my laptop & phone also couldn't detect the wifi from the ZTE modem.

In device manager, the zte technologies msm driver was in yellow sign.
Under cmd - Ipconfig - media state it showed media disconnected.
I have tried to uninstalled the driver from device manager but failed to reinstall the driver. Error message from installing process "no driver found".

I brought it out from my house & tried to install it in others pc, however, the same error occurred.

May I know anybody can help me on this issue?

thank you very much!!!

I just installed windows 8.1 pro on an MSI z97 pc mate motherboard with I5 3.3 ghz processor, 16 gb ddr3 1600 MHz ram, with embedded realtek pcie gbe NIC. I checked and found that hardware virtualization is enabled by default in the BIOS.

I tried to set up a virtual switch using the latest bios and drivers from MSI. I created a virtual switch choosing the external option and the share with host OS option. I then connected to the VM. No network connectivity on VM but host still worked.

I then used autopatcher to update windows 8.1 on the vm. I removed and reinstalled the virtual switch choosing external option and share with host OS option. Same conditions occurred.
And then I installed the latest NIC driver. Same problem - media disconnected.

I tried this process with the latest driver from the realtek website which was a couple years more up to date. I had such high hopes! Same problem.

I then used msconfig to prevent all non-Microsoft services from starting and rebooted. I removed and recreated the switch and I was still hoping for success. Same exact conditions occurred.

These are the conditions that occur whenever an external switch with host os sharing enabled is installed in between all of these troubleshooting steps. It looks exactly the same every time...
The host machine can still access the network but it does so through the virtual switch. Ipconfig /all on the host reveals the following...

I've had my yoga for almost two years now and recently I've been having two issues: 1. The WiFi adapter will sometimes go out and it won't even show up on the device manager. The only "fix" I've found so far is to shut down and turn the computer back on (usually at least a couple of times) until the adapter starts showing up again. I've gone to the bios to check to see if it's showing up when I run the motherboard test and sometimes the PCI slot that it occupies doesn't even show up. I've been having to use a small USB WiFi adapter when the onboard adapter feels like being particularly uncooperative on certain days. 2. At random times (every few hours or so) when the laptop is just sitting on my desk, I will get an auto rotate notification and the screen will change its orientation, go into tablet mode, and disable the mouse and keyboard. Usually the screen will go back to normal after a few seconds, but the keyboard and mouse will still be disabled and the only way to get them both activated again (as far as I know) is to shut down the laptop and then turn it back on. My guess is that these two problems might be related. The reason why I think so is because I had similar issues a year ago with the WiFi adapter frequently not showing up on the device manager. I had the laptop sent in and it turned out to be an issue with the motherboard, which had to be replaced. So my guess is that there's something wrong with the motherboard again, which is affecting both the... Read more

I have a fairly new Yoga 920 I purchased back in November, 2017. Yesterday morning, when I was trying to start it from a shutdown, it got stuck on the splash screen. After several tries and getting stuck at the same splash screen, I tried a CHKDSK, which didnt's find any errors on the disk. Then I tried booting in Safe Mode, which worked with no problems. Since it boots fine into Safe Mode and but  not in normal start, I thought this was a driver issue. So, I started disabling components from the device manager, one by one, to see what driver was causing the issue. Qualcom WLAN Driver was the reason. I could boot in windows per usual after disabling the wifi adapter from the device manager. So, I decided to reinstall the driver after uninstalling the old one, but as soon as the driver starts installing laptop froze again. No BSOD or restart. Just frozen image on the screen, no response after waiting 5-10 mins. I actually had to disable wifi from bios to be able to use the laptop again with ethernet adapter I have. I am guessing this is a hardware related issue, so I ordered an intel 8260 ac adapter to see if that fixes my problem. Any ideas on what kind of issue there might be with the Qualcom adapter?

Last year I had the laptop sent to Lenovo to replace my screen because my brightness would not change. Since then, the wifi adapter would "disappear*" randomly, though not often, sand I would have to reinstall the intel WLAN drivers to fix it. I though it wasn't going to be a problem. However, in the past two days, the wifi driver would disappear every time I turn on the laptop. Reinstallation did not bring it back and repairs did not work. I had to resort to using an external wireless adapter. The volume down button seems to be stuck down, not physically but more like it was "stickied".*disappear- the drivers would be missing, not disabled. Device manager does not show a wifi adapter existing.

click on the icon and hit open Network & Sharing Center

Here you will see a picture at the top of the screen which will work like this.

PC - Router/Modem - Internet

Check where the problem persists between Router/Modem & Internet or PC & Router/Modem.
If the problem is between Router/Modem and Internet contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP)

Here are some simple fixes if it is PC to Router/Modem.
1. Turn Router off, Turn PC Off wait 10mins then turn both back on.
2. Try a different Ethernet Cable
3. Ensure that your network driver is working (Below)
4. Restart your Network adapter (Below)

3.
Click Start
Right Click My Computer
Click Manage

You are now in the Computer manager on the left Click Device Manager

Check for any problems (these will be devices with a yellow exclamation mark next to them) these might be found under Network Adapters.

4.
click your network Icon on the bottom right of the screen and open the Network & Sharing Center
now click Manage Network Connections

Here locate your network adapter click it, push Disable this Network Device above - followed by Enable this Network Device. Therefore Restarting the Network adapter.

I know it is not a problem with my router as I havE other devices on the network and they work fine. I have tried updating and reinstalling all drivers, updated bios, changed the power management settings. I also read that in some network card the Bluetooth causes problems so I even disabled Bluetooth via device manager but still the problem occurs. It doesn't occur frequently but maybe once every 5-6hrs.(no fixed interval, sometimes it happens just after switching on)

Hey Prathamesh
You could try restoring your PC to a point in time where you pc did not do this using system restore and see if this solves your problem.
Thanks

Hi, I have bought  ES1-311 with Windows 10 recently. After using it for a while, I have observed that the wifi is always got disconnected eventhough I have no problem with my other devices, i.e. phone, tab, etc. I have deleted and reinstalled the wireless driver from Device Manager, but still I faced this problem, and it's really make me piss off with this laptop. Hope that I am not the only one who faced this problem! Any solution from members is really appreciated. Hasway

Several places reference the card as a Atheros WB335. Try this driver uninstall the current driver first. If it doesn't work, try the second driver, If you haven't already.Wireless LANAtherosWireless LAN Driver10.0.0.288266.6 MB2014/11/25Download Wireless LANBroadcomWireless LAN Driver6.30.223.250185.4 MB2014/12/19Download

Does my media being disconnected pose a problem ?
I have never been able to figure out how to enable it properly.

Tunnel adapter isatap.tampabay.rr.com:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : tampabay.rr.com

Win7 Home Prem x64
Acer Aspire i3
Buffalo N wireless router

not sure what else may need to be known.

I'm on Roadrunner as well and my tunnel adapter(s) has/have never been connected (I never bothered to investigate since I have no use for it anyways)
It has nothing to do with your "normal" cable connection.

My friend's mother is trying to connect through wifi on her dell studio 3717? (i think) laptop.--vista. Anyways, I have gone through all of my personal available knowledge and resource on computers. When she connects to Hastings public wifi connection, the connection reads good. However, when she opens IE it reads (the webpage cannot be displayed. This is unexceptable...so I had her readout over the phone because she lives in Montana, whereas I live in oklahoma, the ipconfig /all info. It was originally telling her that it couldnt communicate with the dns server blah blah blah. So i had her go to manage network connections, right click on the wireless network, and manually change the v4 dhcp server name to the one it couldnt connect to. To no avail. No internet. Tried resetting TCP/IP stack. and Winsock. No internet. Tried turning off all Firewall, Windows Defender settings and tried unchecking v6. Still no Internet. Any ideas? It shows her connection is good, just no internet. Thank you.

So I have a wireless network setup on a Linksys router that I have a couple laptops hooked up to. Well one of the laptops crashed recently, and in going through some things in the garage I came across my old roommates HP PC. So I hooked it up and got everything running, but no internet whatsoever. I ran an ethernet cable directly to the router from the PC, but the light on the router isn't lighting up (and I know it's not the cable as I hooked it directly up to my laptop & it works). I did an ipconfig and this is what comes up...

Windows IP Configuration

Host Name....................your-4f1261a8e5
Primary Dns suffix....................
Node Type....................Hybrid
IP Routing enabled....................No
WINS Proxy Enabled....................No

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Media State....................Media disconnected
Description....................Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Physical Address....................00-11-D8-AA-C4-BE

So I'm assuming by that mention of "Media disconnected" that it's something directly correlated to the actual hardware in the PC itself that might need to be looked at and/or changed out..? Just a guess on my part though as I'm completely dumbfounded.

Any advice out there?! Thanks ahead of time.

You're probably right.

Any lights on that card and do they come on? Make sure it is firmly in its slot.

My new X1 Yoga (less tha one month old), is connected to a OneLink+ dock to drive two external monitors.  At first, everything worked well together (for a bout one week).  Now, if I disconnect the dock, the X1 screen goe black and will not return unless I press/hold the power button to hard reboot, or I reconnect to the dock. The whole point of the dock is to be able to connect to/disconnect from other resource slike monitors and keybaords easily.  Anyone know of a solution to this issue.

Hi atulrohatgi ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You may try to check on device manager , click on the + sign in network adapter and right click on the wireless card for the properties.

Under power management tab , uncheck box saying "Allow the computer toturn off device to save power" , navigate on the advance tab , set highest on roaming aggressiveness / roaming tendency .
Restart and check how it goes.

Update us .

Ok, so here's my problem. I bought a computer from someone on craigslist, an Acer Aspire R1600 with the NVIDIA ION chipset. I just got ethernet working thanks to help in another thread that the seller of the computer created.

I have been searching for other people's work on solving this issue and tried their solutions. These include but are not limited to

-making sure tcp/ip is enabled, along with DHCP and DNS (ip address config set to automatic)
-Installing various different driver versions for my WLAN adapter
-Completely uninstalling all WLAN drivers and removing the files, then letting Windows automatically install the drivers it finds, this solved someone's problem. No luck for me.

Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hsd1.va.comcast.net.
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1

Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection 7:

Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected

When I search for available wireless networks, none are found, though I can sense multiple with my laptop. The home network strength is strong, excellent signal quality on laptop, desktop is on the same desk. When I attempt to repair the connection, it hangs on the "Connecting to the wireless network" stage, then says "wireless network connection is not connected" ... Read more

This feedback is regarding my disappointment about the hp laptop i bought 2 days back. I bought the model Hp pavilion 15- Af006ax. The laptop is frequently disconnecting from my wifi. I went back to the vendor and told him bout the issue. He asked me to install windows 10 which i did. I also double checked all the drivers and they have been installed properly. But my problem still persists. I searched the net regarding hp laptops having similiar issue and i got plenty results saying how bad the wifi problem is with the hp laptops. I evn contacted hp cstmer care where i was again told the same thing which is to use windows 10 instead of windows 7 which i did. But it dint help.i m regretting my decision of opting for hp. It would be very helpful i recieve a technician from hp to sort out the issue.I hope the company cares bout their cstmers coz i seriosly doubtIf i vl recommend hp laptops to any1 if my problem is not soved

Internet in my PC would get disconnected, like not fully disconnected but there will be a /!\ yellow exclamation on the internet icon, not a red X. WiFi on other devices would be working. I use a cable to connect router to PC.

This would happen a few times a day or sometimes it doesn't happen in a day. I would take out the cable from the WiFi router and plug it back and the internet will then work fine.

Why does this happen?

The Router is Tenda N301.

Hello,

I have a weird problem with the wifi I connect to in my office studio.

I keep getting disconnected =(

I know my connection is stable because the wifi signal icon in my taskbar (I am running windows 8) does not have the exclamation point and I do not have the same problem with my other desktop and ipad connected to the same router.
I do a quick fix by disconnecting and reconnecting again and this solves the problem.

I have recently changed ISPs and I had the same problem for both of them.

I also bring my laptop home from work and I do not have the problem at home. Only in the studio and only on my laptop.

I am running Windows 8.1 on an Asus X550Z notebook.

Hope you guys can help!

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi, I have a Toshiba laptop (p-750) and a new TP-link TL-WR1043ND router.
The router works fine with my smartphone and Sony PlayStation but my laptop is getting disconnected all the time.

HELP.....

Thanks guys.

A:My Toshiba laptop gets disconnected from wifi

how is your laptop connected to the router - wireless or cable
how often are you getting disconnected

we need to see some further information - quite a long post - but some simple tests, just the explanation is long

Is this the only PC that disconnects - do other devices connected work OK - if so how are they connected to the router - wireless or wired

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.

if you are connected by wireless, please include the xirrus screen shots for both conditions - see how below.

Please post back here the make and exact model of the separate modem, the router is a TP-link TL-WR1043ND

Please make a note of the status of the lights on the modem and on the TP-link TL-WR1043ND router when working normally - post that light status here.
Now when the internet disconnects make a note of the status of the lights for the modem and router here again. also note which have changed.

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine ... Read more
