dv 6700 windows 10 wifi adapter drops out

Q: dv 6700 windows 10 wifi adapter drops out

I recently upgraded the OS on my old Pavillion dv6700 notebook from Vista to Windows 10. The wireless network adapter often drops out when the device is not in use - it may work okay for days, or sometimes only minutes. Sometimes running the troubleshoot routine resets the adapter and sometimes the adapter has to be disabled and then re-enabled. (Turning the laptop off and on again also works.) I understand that this is an old device, but everything else works fine and even though this problem is relatively easy to rectify, it is annoying. Is there a simple solution to this issue.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi: See if unchecking the 'allow windows to turn off this device to save power' box on the power options tab for the wireless card works for you. What model wireless card does your notebook have? There may be other tweaks you can do on the Advanced tab.

OS: Windows 7
Hardware: Sony VAIO
Powered by: AC
History: The computer is about 2 years old and the symptoms described below started either abruptly or gradually some 2-3 months ago.

Symptoms: The network access icon in the right of my task bar will show 4-5 bars of signal strength. I'll leave the computer for several hours and when I come back, it shows 0 bars with a red x over it. I click it, select troubleshoot and the Windows Network Diagnostics window pops up and says "Problems found"; A network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken" - Detected; "Problem with wireless adapter or access point" - Fixed, upon which the icon goes back to 4 or 5 bars and I resume my network connectivity. This takes all of one minute or less.

However, if I need to do a lengthy download, this unexpected action will stop the download in the middle of the night.

TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS:
1) I tried a side-by-side comparison with another laptop and the Sony VAIO lost the network connection in the manner described above while the other computer didn't.
2) I went to Manage Wireless Networks, removed all networks (including my home network) and then rebuilt the wireless networks by re-entering my home network. I was then able to access my network. However, the wireless network adapter still shut off in the middle of the night.
3) I went to Power Settings/Change advanced power settings/Advanced settings/Wireless Adapter Settings/Power Saving Mode and obse... Read more

I am currently using a Thinkpad L440. For about a year and a half now, I have been having random Wifi drops on my laptop. The wifi will suddenly stop working and my browser will prompt me to run Windows Diagnostics. Windows Diagnostics will detect the problem and reset my wifi adapter which fixes the problem. Then the same problem occurs after some time. I tried updating all the drivers, as well as the BIOS. I also tried removing the wifi apapter driver through Device Manager and reinstalling but this did not solve the isse. In fact, the wifi seems slower after doing this. As a note, whenever I run a scan using LSC, under WIreless > Local Connection Test, I get a warning sign. This has been consistent for about as long as the problem has been occuring.  Model: L440BIOS: J4ET91WW(1.91)Wifi Adapter: 2x2 11bgn Wireless LAN M.2 Adapter Appreciate any advice.

Hi,

I have a rather annoying issue and i'm stuck trying to find a solution. My D-link Ac1900 wifi adapter keeps losing connection to my router every 10 seconds, I have tried many solutions to try and fix this from,
unplugging and restarting my pcrolling back the driving and updating themexchanged the device for a new replacementupdating the motherboard biosun checking the power setting to stop the device from being turned

but still nothing fixes the issue, take note that this only occurs on my pc which is brand new, works fine on my laptop doesn't drop out every 10 seconds.

Would anyone have any idea or have the same issue with a solution to the problem.

I have an integrated Gigabit Ethernet adapter - a Realtek 8168, I think. Sometime (but not always) when Windows wakens from sleep the adapter runs at 100Mb instead of 1Gb. Disabling and re-enabling the adapter puts it back to 1Gb. A reboot also fixes it (of course).

Is this typical behavior, or do I have something set wrong?

The Windows & Device Manager identifies the device as "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" and says the current driver - version 7.67.1226.2012 - is up to date.

I've have my PC's Ethernet adapter connected to an Ethernet switch for about a year. The switch indicates port speed by different colored LEDs. I don't recall seeing the 100Mb light until a week or 2 ago

A:After Windows wakes, my GbE network adapter drops to 100Mb

Don't know if you'll see it, but in Device Manager right-click on your Realtek network adapter and select Properties.

Then select the Power Management tab, and un-check the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", if you have that option.

Now see if you lose your gigabit connection when coming out of sleep.

Hello

This problem is frustrating me a lot now. After upgrading to WIndows 10, I have noticed that my Wi-Fi connection frequently drops without any pattern whatsover. It just drops randomly and re-connects after 2-3 minutes. If I attempt to connect to the network in that period of 2-3 minutes, it will sometimes connect, and sometimes fail. I have 2 other laptops (1 of which has Windows 10) and they don't experience this problem.

I have searched online and tried tons of things. Nothing has fixed the problem so far! Below are all the things I tried. Please help if you have any suggestions or if there are known issues with Windows 10.

1. Updated the driver software
2. Uninstalled the driver and re-installed it
3. Unchecked the setting of 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' in Power Management of the wireless network adapter.
4. Uninstalled anti-virus to eliminate anti-virus as the issue.
5. Disabled 'Wifi Sense' options of 'Connect to suggested hotspots' & 'Connect to networks shared by my contacts'.

I am clueless as to what the issue is. Please help!

Hi guys I got this problem, it only comes up occasionally, like once every couple of weeks, but I can't seem to figure it out.

I have a Toshiba laptop and I connect to the internet using wifi. Sometimes the wifi would stop working. It shows that I'm still connected to my wifi, but with an exclamation mark that says limited or no internet. I disconnect and then try again, but now my computer doesn't detect any wifi network. I usually can see a bunch of wifi networks, but when it happens I cannot detect any. I have a couple external hard drives connected to my laptop too. When this wifi problem occurs, I also couldn't access the external hard drives. I disconnect them, but they still show up in My Computer and I can click on them, even though they're empty inside. My last problem is that when this wifi problem happens, I can't restart the computer. It just hangs, so I either have to hold the power button down to restart, or to wait for five or so minutes before windows tells me it's having trouble and then it restarts.

My network drivers have all been updated. I do have a VPN service minimized but it's off almost always and it was never running when this wifi problem occurs. I also have Norton Antivirus on. I don't know what could be causing it, because I'm not just getting the wifi problem only, and this problem has occurred about five times since upgrading to Windows 10 this past winter. So it's not too often, but I don't know what could be causing it. Thank you,

I upgraded to Win 8 on a new computer that has a Ralink wireless card. It would only connect randomly. A trip to the Ralink site and newest driver solved the problem.

Good Morning,

For the past few days, I've been having issues with my laptop. The other day I kept getting the message "Unidentified Network. No internet access" so I tried almost everything to fix it with no luck. Yesterday I instead got the message "There might be a problem with the wifi adapter?" I don't know if this is a good sign or something far worse.

Hopefully I can get this resolved. Especially with school and all. This has me really stressed out.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,    I have seen a few posts and tried the responses and nothing has worked.  Hp Pavilion g6 that is now running windows 10, and my wireless adapter is no where to be found.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple drive types before going back to the original set that was loaded. I have tried the "netsh" command sets that one post has recommended. If I plug the machine in hard wired it works perfectly fine. Other than my wifi adapter completely missing and nothing incorrect with my device manager.   So I have no wifi adapter, no error for my adapter, and have tried all hardware on this notebook.  I have also tried it in 3 different locations with 3 different routers. I have tried to upgrade drivers and nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions would be a major help.   Thanks ahead of time.

Hi!
I am using Inspiron 17R SE 7720 (Service Tag: B8P81W1 | Express Service Code: 24470701201). The BIOS firmware is latest (A17).
This laptop is included in "Computers tested for upgrade to Windows 10".
However I expect problems in Windows 10 when going to sleep mode and/or entering powersave mode - WiFi stops working after waking up. It is a well-known problem and it is caused by Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 wi-fi adapter used in my laptop. The problem is driver-based and Intel has no plan to solve it because the adapter is obsolete.
I am going to upgrade my laptop replacing Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 with new Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260. It has the same form-factor and officially supports Windows 10.
Please let me know is there any restriction in BIOS those prevent changing WiFi adapter in this way?

Run Everest with just the battery connected - call up Computer, Sensor and watch the voltages - while watching, plug in the adapter.

If there is no drastic change, then in all liklihood the modem got a small zap that is letting it fail. An external USB modem would work I think.

Just a guess here...

If you downloaded the driver from windows updates website...then check settings - system - apps & features - here on the top you will see manage optional features...click manage optional features - click add (internet connections is required) - here it will show optional updates available for your system...click any & you will see install tab. After updating my 8710w from Win 7 to Win 10 it sporadically bluescreens, blaming the driver for the wireless adapter card (Intel 4965AGN).  A bit of searching reveals I am not alone with this problem and that Intel do not intend to update the driver any further (up to Win 7 only). I could discard the 4965 card and use a USB WiFi dongle, but I'd prefer not to if possible.  Has anyone tried a newer internal WiFi card in their 8710?  I gather that if for example I could fit an Intel 6300*, its Windows 8.1 drivers are compatible with Windows 10.  It would be a cheap experiment to simply try and see if it works, but I thought it was worth asking for others experience first, since one article I found suggests a hardware upgrade might not be allowed: "If you have a laptop made by HP or Lenovo, they will only allow certain cards to be recognised by the laptop?s BIOS. You can check compatibility on their websites." Any advice gratefully received. *Newer cards than the ageing 6300 would have drivers directly compatible with Windows 10 but I have the additional complication that I can still boot this machine into Windows XP (!) so I would need a card that's also backwards compatible with that.

A:Anyone tried an updated WiFi adapter in an 8710w for Windows...

Hi: Unfortunately, no other wlan card other than the ones listed in the service manual will work. HP used a BIOS whitelist feature which locks out any unsupported wlan cards. The PC will halt on boot until the unsupported wlan card is removed. I have the HP 6910p with W10 and the 4965 ag card, and it works fine. I installed the latest W7 driver offered by Intel, enabled WMM, set roaming to lowest.

I just reinstalled Windows 7 on an older notebook (one of the first with it, so it was ORIGINALLY with Windows 7) and am now having issues with the WiFi. It has never had any issues with this before, so it is not an issue with the hardware.

I have followed the instructions given on a few sites and I have found that the WiFi card is listed under problem devices in the System Information window. The vendor # is 8086 and the device # is 422C. After finding that, I went on the hunt for the drivers/adapters for this, but I was unable to find them. I downloaded the wireless drivers available on Dell to no avail. Even after installing each and restarting it did not fix the issue. The only driver that seemed to match the lookup for that device was hosted on HP, but installing that also did nothing.

If it matters, I am currently on a Dell Studio 1558 Laptop. Any help would be appreciated, and I will give any information necessary. I have attached a picture of the System Info Problem Devices. If anyone knows what the others are or if they are important, I would appreciate that too, but I care much more about the WiFi.

A:Wifi adapter missing after Windows 7 reinstall

Device #422C is a Broadcom WiFi and Vendor #8086 is Intel.
So if Dell is of no use, start digging around Intel or Broadcom's sites for native drivers.

EDIT: Just realize this is from September. Whoops

A:Netgear N300 WiFi USB Mini Adapter stuck detecting adapter

Power down PC...while it off remove USB wifi adapter....power on PC. When PC has finished booting up, search in the uninstall programs list for any software related Netgear and uninstall it. Reboot and start the process again.

According to the system requirements for that device, it does not support windows 10, which may be you issue.

Hello!

I registered to forums to get help to solve wireless adapter issue I am having.

I have been looking for help in Lenovo forums and AV provider: problem is still on.

Background

I changed AV software from Symantec to F-Secure. I uninstalled Symantec software and installed F-Secure software. Laptop is Lenovo T520.

What happened

First I recognized that ping commands caused Windows to crash. Then I uninstalled some VPN softwares and ping started to work. Operation did something to wireless and LAN connections, they did not work anymore.

LAN started to work by removing LAN drivers from device manager and reboot. After reboot Windows reinstalled LAN drivers and LAN was ok.

Wireless is a pain in there. I have tried almost everything. All Lenovo provided network softwares and power management tools are uninstalled and reinstalled together with wireless drivers. Wireless driver is not recognized by Windows.

None of automatic repairs or wifi uninstallation operations have corrected problem.

I collected some logs which might help, but now I do not know how to proceed. Windows reinstallation is something which I do not want to do.

Hi Ron, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Try this to start

Control Panel > Administration Tools > Computer Management > Services & Applications > Services.

Scroll down this list to find 'WLAN Auto Config'

Double click on 'WLAN Auto Config' On the general tab, select from the start up type drop down menu, select 'Automatic'. Under Service Status click on 'Start'. Then 'Apply' these settings and exit from all open control panel windows.

This should then allow Windows to set the required bindings.

I recently upgraded the machine with an SSD, fan, Middleton BIOS and clean Win10. The machine has no problem connecting to the network and internet with Ethernet. However, unplug and use WiFi, the machine will lose connection frequently and intermittently with both rendering the use of WiFi impractical. Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN is installed and no longer supported. The machine reports no problem with the it. Intel's website says the following: Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers for Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965    Date: 17-Aug-2017 Version: Latest (Latest) OS: Windows 7, 32-bit*, Windows 7, 64-bit*, Windows Vista 32*, 3 more Windows 10 appears to not be supported? Any suggestions? Mark

This is a very weird problem. Starting from three days ago my laptop's wifi capabilities dropped suddenly. I hadn't dropped it or installed anything that could have caused it. I could get no WiFi unless I was in the same room as the router. Meanwhile my phone could get WiFi same as before all around the house.

I tried a system restore, updating everything and things like that. Today I noticed that the WiFi icon would show two bars just as the lid is opened but quickly changes to no signal. I figured out that if I angle the lid below 45 degrees and just before the display turns off, I get great signal strength just as I used to!

Now it is very inconvenient to use the laptop like that which is why I am typing this from my phone. Can you guys help me please I really needed to fill out lots of forms from that machine. Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Got a bit of a weird issue here. I've owned my WAG54GX2 for about... 2 years maybe, and I've got no complaints all round. My usage hasnt changed nor any settings within this period.

However... Over the last week, for some reason the WiFi Connection gets destroyed. I've only seen it once at the point where the Wifi Light goes out (something i've never seen before) - but generally the 2 WiFi conencted PC's fail to keep the connection, they drop out, and fail to get an IP, and when they do manage to get 'on' the connection is terrible. In the mean time, I run wired on 2 boxes that have no noticeable issues at all. Its like the WiFi just gets totally jammed up.

I've tried my hardest to establish what has changed, what is new, whats different at night, and theres just nothing.

Turning off the router and back on seems to have no effect either.

I've attached some logs, I dont know what 99% of it means. But thought maybe someone here could shed some info by translating them.

the Anisdktool seems to be started a lot? normal?

and wns msg tcvd: no idea what thats all about?

ring full looks a bit "** alerting***" but no idea what this is telling me either.

This is super frustrating any insight would be great.

I just bought a new computer and it has a wireless adapter already plugged in the USB internally. It is a Realtek RTL8811AU Network Adapter. I am running off wifi on other devices in my home right now and the connection is perfect for those. When reading the reviews for my computer, which is this one iBUYPOWER Source Series NE654X Desktop PC AMD FX-Series FX-8320 (3.50GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8.1 64-Bit - Newegg.com, a lot of the reviews said that they had problems with the wifi adapter too and the internet worked after they downgraded to Windows 7. I thought that was the problem but looked into it more and some people on a different forum told me that it is not a problem with Windows 8 and it is a problem with the Wireless Adapter. I'm not too sure now, because the reviews said that the adapter worked well after the downgrade. I need some opinions and help because being on a slow internet connection is killing me. Let me know if you need more information.

Hi

I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on a Dell Inspiron Laptop. I also have Ubuntu 11.10 as a dual boot option on this machine.

Recently I got a BSOD with the following error -

DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE

Since then Windows does not recognize the Wifi network adapter. It is not there in the Device Manager at all.

It does not seem to be a hardware problem because when I boot using Ubuntu, the Wifi works without any problem.

Can anyone guide me how to solve this issue. Since the adapter is not being listed in the device manager, I don't know how to update or reinstall drivers.

Thanks

Whats the model of your Dell Inspiron ? Once you post that I can lead you to where to download the appropriate driver.

I have tried updating the driver windows manages to locate software (Ralink RT5390R 802.11bgn WiFi Adapter) but encounters an error while installing. I have also tried downloading network adapters and installing them but no action seems to occur even after restarting. I need wireless internet again any help will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Aiden. (Screenshot of device manager)

Hi all, used BC for a fair while, but its my first ever 'Help me' post !

I have a customer that has had an issue with their laptop (Toshiba Satellite L300)

The wifi hasn't worked for a while, was the best I could get out of the customer...

From what I can find, they have upgraded to Vista Service Pack 2 and it seemed to have screwed up the wifi.

So far I have managed to relocated the correct driver for the lan (wired wasn't working either)and have the laptop running through a wired connection, however I cannot get the Atheros AR5007EG driver to recognise ANY wireless SSID within its range.

I have installed as many drivers as I can (9.2.0.480 was the latest driver I could find, but have used windows update, along with all the drivers on the Atheros.cz website) but it still will not find anything. I have a separate router with an open SSID (both in A and G) aswell as my secured 'N' router (which I also opened, to see if that would work), yet it cannot see diddlysquat!

I've tried turning the wifi card on and off through both Fn+F8 and the switch at the front, which has made no difference.

I've even changed the wireless card, to a different Atheros (ended UG, can't remember the part number!) and tried a Vigor N61, neither of these recognised anything either ?!?!

I really am stuck now as to where to go next (I bloody hate VISTA!!!)

Any ideas??? I'd be hugely greatful!

Cheers

Andy

A:Windows Vista and Atheros AR5007EG wifi adapter

I am not sure if this is your problem but try the Microsoft Fixit. Vista sometimes has a hard time getting a DHCP address from routers. Have you tried putting in a static IP?

Just to confirm the chip. Right click the wireless adapter in Device Manger, select Properties and under the Details tab select Hardware ID's. Copy and Paste the first line in your next post.

When you right click on the adapter does it say it is functioning properly?

I have 3 Probook 4530s Laptops. They have i5 CPUs USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports along with bluetooth 3.0 and HD display. The WiFi adapter speed  is 150mb on 2.4 gz band. At this time they all have 4g RAM and 1Tb hhd installed. I like the units as all of them were built in May and June, 2012. What I need to do is increase the internet connection speed plus add the 5.8 band to the 2.4 band. I would not like to have anything sticking out of the side of the computer that needed to be removed that might get lost. Can I replace the internal WiFi + Bluetooth 3.0 adapter to pickup the speed and both bands? If so, can anyone tell me what adapter I need to me looking for and what driver. I do not want to loose the bluetooth in all of this as I know the kids will want to use it.This whole building project I guess is my way of telling them that I'm with them if they need any help. Our time means more to them then money these days. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Respectfully.

Hey,

I'm trying to set up a hotspot with my laptop for my phone because I have no wifi. When I plug in an ethernet cable the wifi adapter becomes disabled. I need it to stay enabled. The reason I need to do this is because with NETSH WLAN commands you can create a wifi hotspot by sharing the internet connection on the wired adapter and broadcasting a ssid on the virtual wifi miniport adapter. ''netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Hotspot key=Password''.But with my wifi adapter disabled the wireless autoconfig service (wlansvc) is not running, which is needed. When I try to enable my wifi adapter or the wireless autoconfig service they simply disable again directly after.
My network adapters are Intel(R) Dual Band wireless-N 7260 & Realtek PCle GBE Family controller.
There is no Intel? PROSet/Wireless software interfering, and I don't have any Wireless_autoswitch software installed on my laptop (as far as I know).

Please help me?
