Ie 6 - Flash Objects Flickering - Using Adobe Flash Player 9 Activex R28 (shockwave Flash Object V.

Q: Ie 6 - Flash Objects Flickering - Using Adobe Flash Player 9 Activex R28 (shockwave Flash Object V.

We have IE 6. Say a user goes to MSN.com. The ad on the right is a Flash object. Some of our users will see that object flickering when scrolling up or down on the page or when hovering their mouse over it. It's quite annoying. Almost all users are running Adobe Flash Player 9, but I think I've seen this happen on systems with Macromedia Flash Player 8 as well. Other systems don't have the problem. I've seen this happen on one system and not another while both seemed to have the same Flash objects installed.

Uninstalling all Flash players using Adobe's prescribed Flash Player uninstall tool seems to work at first, but users later complain again. Note that they just about always end up installing Flash Player 9 again, because sites ask for it. I don't believe I've seen this on any XP systems at all, including my own, but most of our users have Win2K.

Does anybody know why this happens or how to permanently fix it?

Preferred Solution: Ie 6 - Flash Objects Flickering - Using Adobe Flash Player 9 Activex R28 (shockwave Flash Object V.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Ie 6 - Flash Objects Flickering - Using Adobe Flash Player 9 Activex R28 (shockwave Flash Object V.

More info: Adobe Flash Player 9, Macromedia Flash Player 8, and Macromedia Flash Player 10 all produce the same result--Flash objects that flicker when you put your mouse over any part of them. Moving Flash objects will flicker constantly while moving and stop flickering when the animation is done. SWF files (at least the one at www.stormwerks.com/linked/stuf/AYB2.swf) work without a problem when using Adobe Flash Player 9.

If I don't have Adobe Flash Player 9 installed, the Win2K machines prompt me to install them for almost any site that uses Flash (I guess most recent Flash objects cannot be viewed with the older Macromedia Flash Players).

Any suggestions?

What's the difference between Adobe Shockwave player and flash player?

Also, script error while downloading update to flash player gives an option. Asks if I want to run the script with errors or don't run. I saw that once before on something else a long time ago. Can't now remember what I did or if it even means anything except to people who write programs.

Appreciate any input. Thank You.

The obvious thing to do is to uninstall both programs and then re-install them so you have the most up-to-date versions but I'm wondering if there was any other way to get the most up-to-date versions i.e. using a command.

Browsing through Programs and Features, I was surprised to find that the Flash Player had two entries...one for the player and a second for ActiveX. It must have snuck in as one of the many updates that have come along. Knowing about the security risks of ActiveX in Windows, this makes me wonder about the risk of this in the Flash Player, as well as to how necessary it is?

A:Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX

The activeX one is for Internet Explorer 8. The other one (plugin) would be for Firefox. If you get rid of the activeX one, you won't have flash for IE8. It's normal. Nothing to worry about.

Running VISTA with IE and Firefox. The crashes are happening in Firefox. IE is loading w a black screen adb takes about 3 minutes to load the page. I changed setting to load IE without any add-ins. That helped.
The freezing and crashing are getting more frequent. It just started yesterday. When it crashes, it offers the option to continue script or cancel.

Everything that uses adobe shockwave and flash player isn't working properly. For example, youtube videos load completely, but then they begin to buffer about 30-40 seconds in and never move again.

It's not enough to determine that running without add-ons works fine. You then must isolate the offending (can be anything and not just Flash) add-on and either remove it, or update it. It's impossible to run without add-ons permanently.

I need to stop this and can't:

Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX

I hate flash and flash ads. Other than the ads it serves no purpose on my computer. Before Adobe got their hands on it I wiped everything that had anything to do with Macromedia Flash Player but that no longer is effective against Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX.

This is just like MFP, it downloads and installs without warning or permission and every day it is on the add/remove programs list.

If I turn off activex x stuff then I lose a lot and or an forever wasting time being prompted to refuse it. I would like to block it once for all.

In the meantime I use No Flash 2.2

Windows XP Pro/IE8/Firefox/Google Chrome browsers

I have previously had Adobe Flash Player installed in past years and had not used it very often and uninstalled it. Now I find I have certain websites that require it for viewing content so I have recently installed Adobe Flash Player 16 along with Adobe Shockwave Player 12.1 which I believe is needed as a plug-in? (Both of these are the latest versions!)

I am using 3 browsers primarily because IE8 no longer displayes content on certain websites correctly, so I go to Firefox or Google Chrome on many occasions.(In actuality, both of these browsers load pages much slower than IE8 even though they still are supporting XP?)

My issue is that even with these new Adobe installations, all three browsers will not recognize the existance of Flash and Shockwave on my desktop and each browser asks me to dowload them to their individual browsers. It doesn't seem realistic that I should do this and override the existing installations so I have not tried this on any of the 3 browsers.

Why are the Adobe instillations on my XP not recognized and how can this issue be addressed and resolved?

Thank you for any assistenance!

I uninstalled Adobe Flash with their uninstall tool because I read somewhere you needed to update it because of major security flaw. Since I had no idea what version of player, I just DL their uninstall tool, then DLed their new flash. I used their uninstall tool, and then reinstalled the new Adobe Flash Player. The only PU that came up was that it couldn't install in Opera. I went looking to try and configure it, then I read in the post below, you had to go to the link, http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ for shockwave, and figured it would lead me to flash and all that crap. A:Adobe Flash uninstall tool,& is there a better/safer flash player w/o the hassles?

The flash player for IE and Firefox is in C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash. The IE one is called Flash9f.ocx and for Firefox its NPSWF32.dll.

You can view current version, by going to a page with a flash object on the web page, right click on the Flash object and select About Adobe Flash Player 9 and it will take you to Adobe site and display version.
You can also get version from the files about on the Version or Details tab of its properties.

As for removal, just either use the Uninstall tool in the same folder (See above) or delete all the files in the folder to remove it.

I am having problems opening a number of Video type files specifically in Facebook.

I am thinking that this my problem with opening videos in Facebook etc. How do I rectify this strange problem in the IE 11.
I have attempted to fix this issue through other forums and the adobe support site without success.
Also, am I right in assuming that if "Flash" is working correctly in IE 11, I do not need another version of Flash in Firefox?
Your help on the above would be appreciated.

Anyone have any idea why I am having excessive IE7 shutdowns as a result of this add-on?

It's the Shockwave Flash Object ActiveX Control FlDbg10b.ocx by Adobe Systems, Inc - which of course is required to run anything shockwave/macromedia on the web (this includes a lot)

At least 4 or 5 times per day I get the message "Shockwave Flash Object FlDbg10b.ocx has encountered problems and needs to close." After clicking okay, IE7 shuts down. Very frustrating.

I recently did a complete fresh installation of XP, and all the software and updates required following. Decided to stick with IE7 instead of going IE8 just yet. Perhaps I should also mention that I installed along with it some brand new software - Abobe CS4 Web Premium Edition (needed this stuff for school) - Wondering if there's any conflict here.

Tried lots of trouble shooting to no avail and just hoping someone out there in tech land might have a clue. Thanks for any replies.

There is a problem in which Flash Player stops once during the operation of the business portal currently operating based on Flash Player, so please contact us.

As a result of the verification, it is confirmed that it is not related to Adobe's Flash Player and is related to the function of Shockwave Flash Object installed in Windows 10 Internet Explorer 11.

Therefore, I would like to know whether it is possible to delete and reinstall the Shockwave Flash Object function.
And I would like to know if it is possible to upgrade or downgrade only the version of the Shockwave Flash Object (or any other related function) while leaving the version of Internet Explorer.

Thank you.

At work I extensively use a Flash-based control panel provided by one of my company's business partners. I typically run Firefox to display it.

I've recently switched to 4K monitor and the panel has become unreadable as the font size is constantly the same as in my previous (1920x1080 resolution), meaning way too small to be easily read in 4K resolution unless using a magnifying glass...

I'm aware of the fact Flash objects are virtually impossible to customize, but noticed a surprising thing when run the panel in Internet Explorer (v. 11.11.10586) - it actually gets resized together with a page and this applies to panel font too! At the same the panel displayed in Firefox is completely immune to any size changes, just other elements (non-Flash) of the page can be increased/decreased.

So my question is - is only IE capable of resizing Flash objects that way, meaning keeping fonts scalable? Can this be somehow achieved in Firefox as well? Or maybe in any other browsers?

A:Resize Flash Player objects in Firefox?

I have Windows 7 and recently, out of no where, I started getting messages that my Shockwave Flash Player has crashed. This happens on all browsers, Google Chrome, Firefox and IE, which I have all the most recent updated versions of. At first, I wasn't able to watch videos or do anything that required flash, including running skype. After uninstalling it and installing it a few times I was able to watch videos again, but I am still unable to run Skype (I try to sign in and it stays on the "Signing In" screen or tells me that it cannot connect). I also cannot use programs that I would use webcam on either (I tried Stickam and Tinychat). Whenever I go to one of those websites it freezes for about five minutes and then tells me that the Flash plug-in has crashed, with a sad puzzle piece. I have tried just about everything I can think of from uninstalling and reinstalling Skype, restarting my computer numerous times and uninstalling Adobe Flash with the uninstaller tool and reinstalling it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A:Shockwave Flash Player Crash

If Flash is working except for certain apps then the apps are the problem. I don't use Skype but my guess is they have a help forum so you might be better off trying there. It could be a known issue.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but this is a big issue for me. I can't get shockwave games to work. On firefox it says I don't have it, but I do, and yes I uninstalled and reinstalled a million times. On Internet explorer, It loads and I just get a big black screen and it won't load. Flash player does the same thing. Whats the problem? Adobe doesn't even know the issue nor does google when I search, I can't get fix this issue. On Add and remove programs I have these.

Adobe Flash Player ActiveX
Adobe Flash Player Plugin
Adobe Shockwave Player 11

I love hoe Adobe says, you already have shockwave/flash! *If you see our logo then the product is already installed*. Yeah, I don't think so. Sorry for the small attitude. Please assist. Thanks.

I guess I should be posting on an Adobe forum, but I do feel comfortable that you folks will be able to help me.

1. The windows program remover shows that I have Flash player 11 ActiveX installed, but I can't find it within windows explorer. How do I find it?

2. I know it is some where as on certain videos I get a small dropdown that I believe is adobe flash asking for permission to store stuff. Is it advisable to allow for storage? What the benefits of storage...probably faster startup?

A:Several questions on problems with Adobe Flash ActiveX?

1) The Flash used in IE and other browsers is listed in Program and Features.
Start> Control Panel> Programs and Features> Adobe Flash 11. It will be listed there and can be uninstalled from there.

2) The web page is asking to store Flash cookies and other info on your computer. If your on some of the more questionable web sites and their security has been breeched it will also allow virus and Trojans to be downloaded to your computer.
Trusted sites such as sevenforums okay.
What you allow on each web site consider the site you are visiting before allowing. So that is up to you.

Also if using Google Chrome browser the Flash is part of the browser so it is not uninstallable from Chrome.

What's the big difference if any between shockwave player and flash player? I see both in the control panel.

However, one says I have flash player 10, but I have just now downloaded their newest version 10.1. And that's been the second time at least for the same update. ??

The other says I have shockwave player 11.5. Both are Adobe.

By the way, in the control panel and over on the right side, there's a column that lists how often used and also where you can delete a program. But with the new version, altho it's listed as loaded on the left side, the right is blank except for the word delete. In other words, no listing for size like all the other programs.

I am trying to upgrade to version 10. Version 9 refuses to be uninstalled. I have tried the uninstall_flash_player.exe. It uninstalls 10, as well as any plug-ins, but 9 ActiveX is still there. When I try to uninstall using the control panel (Windows 2000), the file FlashActive.msi cannot be found, and I must cancel. I have tried to reinstall 9, in order to better uninstall it, but Adobe only offers the plug-in versions of 9 as downloads. I can get the 9 ActiveX download file from FileHippo, but when I run it, Adobe cancels the process.

You could try the Windows Installer Cleanup utility; http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301 (but see the Warning as to the possible side effects). I've never used this myself and it may be something you should only consider as a last resort.

I always understood that all versions of Adobe Flash came as browser plugins but there is, apparently, a standalone version of the Active X one for IE; http://www.softwarepatch.com/internet/flash.html Again, this is something I have never tried so I have no idea whether it works or not

Even if it does, you still have the old version(s) which, theoretically, represent a security risk. Before you consider the Cleanup utility, you might want to try running the Adobe uninstaller a couple of more times, paying particular attention to the notes about the things IE users need to do. I doubt that the Adobe uninstaller would affect the standalone version, if you try it, but, to be on the safe side, it might be an idea to run the uninstaller again before you do try the standalone version.

I've been running Windows XP and the latest version of flash on this computer for as long as I can remember. The only thing is, about a year ago my computer tended to restart itself when I tried to load a large flash/shockwave file on both IE and FF. Some websites cannot cause it to crash at all, Youtube, for instance, but other websites like GameTrailers cause the problem in hand.

I've tried installing and reinstalling them many times, but the problem persists to this day.

If anyone could help me to resolve this, I would be monumentally grateful.

A:Shockwave/Flash Player crashes computer

uninstall it.

Use this tool to do so:

Now, use your browsers for a while (I know it'll be tough without flash but make it so) are you still getting crashes? If so, go to Event viewer and review any errors. Paste the details here for more info.

Good luck.

I've had this problem for about 3 days now. Everything that uses adobe shockwave and flash player isn't working properly. For example, youtube videos load completely, but then they begin to buffer about 30-40 seconds in and never move again. The same goes for any site that uses shockwave for videos/games, etc.

I have the latest shockwave and flash installed on my computer. It happens on all 3 browsers I have (IE, Foxfire, Google Chrome). I cleared all caches. I've run maintenance on my computer, including defrag. Obviously I've restarted it again and again.

Now, I have to add that I've had trojans popping up left and right around the same time this has happened. I use BitDefender Antivirus and apparently they've all either been cleaned or quarantined. I don't know a lot about computers, but I have a feeling that doesn't mean they're gone and it's possible that's where my troubles are coming from. The initial trojans were all in the java deployment cache. I initially thought the problem was with java. Perhaps it's all of them. I don't know.

Also, when the adobe programs first started to slow down I uninstalled them and reinstalled them. I had a lot of trouble reinstalling them. Obviously Google Chrome already has them installed. But it took me quite a few tries for IE and Firefox. Particularly Firefox. I kept getting a message that there was a problem with "side by side configuration". Then a few ho... Read more
