Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 Windows 7 Recovery Disks will not work

Q: Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 Windows 7 Recovery Disks will not work

My Windows 7 basically blew up and is no longer working. I tried a one-key recovery as well which utterly failed. As a last resort I tried using Windows 7 recovery disks sent by Lenovo. There are 4 disks 1,2,3, and an additional disk. Everything seemed to be going somewhat smoothly, although slow up until disk 3. The screen shows

"Current Item: ApplyOs" "Recover process is running please don't remove your power adapter."

It's been like this for days. The blue bar load bar under it seems to still be running. Tried again, this time with 4 different disks sent by Lenovo. The first 3 disks went a bit faster, but the end result was still the same, getting stuck on "ApplyOs". Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, Am looking to reinstall the OS for an old Lenovo IdeaPad for a friend of the family. But it is an old installation, and, when I try to download the ISO from Windows using the product key and S/N, I'm told: "the product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer." When I go to Lenovo, the customer support number did not call me back. Looking through the docs, I am less optimistic that there is a supported way to do this. Has anyone gone through this and can offer any advice? Thank you,Patty

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Dear Members,I am in trouble with my  Idea Pad Z570: I bought it couple of years ago running Windows 7. During the years of usage I had no trouble at all. With Windows 10 beeing released, I upgraded and it starts to make a lot of troubles: Bluescreen directly after boot or sign in, no WiFi, ... all the known stuff. So I decided last week to downgrade to Windows 7. But now, I am even in a bigger trouble:I tried to boot the Windows 7 from DVD and it crashed into Bluescreen saying: Windows Error 0xc0000225Restarting is not helping. So, i tried to go into BIOS to boot from another device, but I do not even get to BIOS or UEFI. So, thats a kind of Deadlock: I cannot boot from Harddisk because Windows Error 0xc0000225 appears and I cannot get into BIOS & UEFI because the Windows error 0xc0000225 comes before getting to BIOS. Hope this description of my current situation is understandable and you guys have a lot of ideas how to fix it. Thanks!TheGooner

If you have a z570 you'll know that they have a switchable graphic system controlled by a switch at the front of the laptop. However, after a repair by KNOWHOW, this switch is gone - they replaced the base plate obviously with the wrong model parts. Is there any way I can bypass this switch and enable my Nvidia card manually? At the moment it's greyed out in the control panel and I can't use it to play any games. This laptop used to have the switch. The Nvidia card in question is GT520M

I have an older Ideapad z570, it made a popping sound and it won't power up now either.  I ordered a replacement adapter from lenovo thinking that was the issue as the light on the adapter was not coming on when it was plugged in.

After reading some of these boards, it appears I might have an issue with the mother board.  I would like to see abou getting it replaced, but there are no repair centers close to me, and I cannot find any information on Lenovo's webiste as to who I can contact or where I can send it.
And information to this end would  be greatly appreciated.  Sorry to tack on to this thread, but seemed silly to create another one for the same issue.

Thanks,

Mod's Edit: Since your issue involves a different model it was moved to its own thread in the correct forum in the Lenovo Z series notebook.

In addition, I try to update BIOS to the latest software (45CN38WW.exe) but during update the BIOS program froze. I kept the laptop on overnight but it did not finish, so I was forced to restart Windows. Now laptop turns on but no video on LCD. I know there is a special process to recover corrupt BIOS, with USB drive and some ?Fn? keys. I will appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

Hi, I have a Lenovo Ideapad z570 (Model: 1024). It won?t boot up, and I had it looked at by a local expert computer repair shop that said the motherboard is dead. I?ve had the laptop since around 2006 or 07. It has a lot of self-created problems and it?s not worth fixing (as far as I can tell), definitely not if it costs $250-300+ for replacement and install.  Mainly, I want to be able to recover my data from the hard drive. I could get that done at the local repair shop, but they charge $110 for that service. My question is this: how difficult is it for a novice to recover data from a hard drive on their own? I?ve read it?s not difficult when a tower motherboard fails, but it seems like the process is a lot trickier with laptops in general. Anyone have some experience or advice for recovering data from a hard drive (from a Lenovo Ideapad z570, more specifically)? Alternatively, does anyone know how difficult it would be to replace a motherboard by himself (assuming someone without any experience is doing the labor)? I?d really appreciate any advice! I?m looking into getting a new Lenovo right now, but I?m really concerned with recovering the data from the old laptop. Thanks in advance all

A:Ideapad z570 - dead motherboard, data recovery?

The easiest way to recover the data off the old HD would be to purchase a USB to 2.5" SATA drive enclosure similar to this one, remove your laptop's hard drive, mount into the new enclosure, plug it into a USB port on your new computer and then copy the data over to your new computers drive.    Your old data should be all located in folders named favorites, Desktop, Documents and Pictures etc. located under C:\Users\<your username> , and can be copied over to the same locations on your new computer if desired. Instructions on removing the HD can be found on page 37 of the Hardware Maintenance Manual linked below.    It also details the steps to remove the System Board (motherboard) which, as you will see, are far more involved. Lenovo Z370/Z470/Z570 Hardware Maintenance Manualhttps://download.lenovo.com/UserFiles/UserGuide/en/User's%20guides%20and%20manuals/Z370&Z470&Z570/Le...  Good Luck,

Hello there!Would somebody be so kind as to tell me how I am able to turn off UEFI mode in BIOS of my Lenovo IdeaPad Z570?(I can see very few things and options in the BIOS menu at the moment.)It's necessary, since I'd like to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium to my computer and during the installation process there is an error message - while choosing the partition where to install the system: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."And I've read somewhere that turning UEFI mode off would solve the problem.By the way, I'd appreciate any other ideas or suggestions to solve this problem.

A:Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 - MBR/GPT disk problem (or BIOS/UEFU)

There are two solutions for your problem.WARNING! Both the ways that I suggest will ERASE ALL OF YOUR DATA ON YOUR HD! If you have anything you want to save, copy it before doing it.First, easy, is to erase all partitions from your disk via windows installation utility. Then, windows will offer you to convert disk to GPT.Or, if windows doesn't do it in this 'automatic' way, you can convert disk to GPT using diskpart. For this, use this manual to access console http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/682-command-prompt-startup.htmlThen, type following commandsdiskpartWait until it loads, and thenLIST DISK <-- this will list currently connected disks, you should determine which of the disks is the one on which you want to install windows and remember its number.SELECT DISK <0> <--you should replace <0> with the number you had on previous stage, in most cases, it would be 0CLEANCONVERT GPTCREATE PARTITION EFI SIZE=200 OFFSET=1024SELECT PARTITION 1FORMAT FS=FAT32 QUICKCREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=<size_for_win_partition_in_megabytes> OFFSET=206848SELECT PARTITION 2FORMAT FS=NTFS QUICK That should be all) After this, you should be able to install windows on your hard drive.

Hi, I have the original vista recovery installation disks that were created when you purchase the computer. They always worked fine. Windows 7 was installed on it and worked fine. I had to replace the motherboard in this and the wireless doesn't work on the replaced board. I do recall previously to installing windows 7 that when I installed xp I had to install a utility to get the wireless to work. When I installed vista again I had to do the same thing. After installing the motherboard and trying everything possible out there to work the wireless still doesn't work and the utilities that are available don't work with windows 7, I tried to put it the recovery disks to just start the computer all over again from vista, because the utility for the wireless is in that installation, however now when I put the recovery disks in it's telling me that they aren't for this computer. Is there something I have to do in windows 7 to get it to install these disks? Thanks

Gateway M-6881
Anybody have any ideas...

a. The FACTORY recovery DVDs (2) that I have will not boot. Usually they just run until a window pops up to insert a blank CD, but you can do that forever--and it just cycles through repeatedly. A couple of times it did proceed to a second window indicating the restore was proceeding, but the bar did not advance, and after a minute or so, it too failed (sorry, don't remember the exact indications).

b. Trying to start recovery using the hidden partition... does not work either.
When you use Programs>Gateway>Gateway Recovery Management>Restore tab and command it...it simply proceeds to a shutdown and reboots right back into Vista. Second way-- the manufacturer enter-recovery-during-boot process (Left Alt-F10 while "Gateway" is onsceen, also simply proceeds to boot thru into Vista.

Some things I have determined:
-A different bootable DVD will boot the machine, so DVD drive is working--at least READ.
-ASIDE: Using the internal utility at Programs>Gateway>Gateway Recovery Management to try to burn either a full recovery set (2 DVDs) or a "Drivers and Applications" set both fail--do not do it.
-File folder structure on the two factory recovery DVDs can be viewed
-chkdsk C: /r has been run and found a few seemingly insignificant things, which were 'fixed'
-The F8 menu does NOT contain "Repair your computer' entry.

Quite frustrated to have three ways to do it and none works.

A:Neither recovery partition nor disks work

Repair computer option is on a retail disc not the F8 menu

A:Will recovery disks work on my new hard drive

Not quite, what you have to do is open the DVD/CD drawer while the laptop is on, leave the drawer open and shut down. Insert your first recovery DVD and close the drawer.Upon boot up look for a message at the lower bottom left of the screen that says "Press the esc key for start up options" do this and you will have a number of choices. Navigate to f9 and press enter. Choose to boot from internal DVD/CD ROM Drive and push enter. That will now boot into your first recovery DVD. It will automatically eject when finished and ask for the other two.  You could also simply start tapping the f9 key upon boot up, this will also get you to the correct window.

When I run SFC /SCANNOW in "RUN" it scans but then a window pops up asking me to insert my Windows Professional XP Service Pack 3cd. When I insert my System Recovery Disc #3 it say I've inserted the wrong disc.

Is it because originally my Windows came with service pack 2? Isn't it the System Recovery Disc that it's asking for or another disc?

So, long story short. I accidentally deleted my recovery partition and now it seems like the only thing that will get my laptop up and running normally again is a recovery disc from Lenovo. I just got off the phone with customer service and they informed me that recovery discs can not be ordered in USB form.  This is where my main issue is. My Lenovo Ideapad Y500 laptop did not come with a CD-ROM Drive. With that being said, I do not want to spend $69 on a recovery disc that will require me to purchase an external CD-ROM drive that potentially won't even work... When I asked customer support if I could return and get a refund for the disc if it will not boot through an external CD-ROM drive, they said no. Has anyone been able to run a recovery disc from an external cd-rom drive successfully? Any suggestions? I'm at my wit's end with this thing...

Drive itself should still be good. You will probably be able to recover the data (not certain, but probably) if you slave it to another PC. The data folders (those that contain pictures/music ect.) should still be intact. Program data associated with applications may be questionable depending on state of the OS that the failed upgrade left XP in.

Afterwards you can put the drive back in her PC and using a OEM copy of XP do a fresh install if you want.

I know there's such a thing as a hybrid drive, but it looks like in some cases you can replace a laptop's standard SATA drive with BOTH a solid state drive and a standard SATA. Is this possible with the IdeaPad z570, and if so, what do I need?  Thanks in advance!

Hello Everyone!I'm facing a problem with my Ideapad Z570 which I wanted to share with the hope of getting a solution. My Ideapad Z570 is rated at 20V, 4.5A which makes it 90W. The original adaptor which came with the laptop was rated at 90W output but it stopped working. So I bought a lenovo adaptor rated at 20V, 3.25A (65W) unknowingly and used it since then. Recently this 65W adaptor has also stopped working. Now my question is whether the 65W adaptor was harming the battery or laptop in any way and which rating adaptor should I buy next coz online there are many 65W adaptors advertised as compatible with z570 laptops. Please help. Thanks in advance!PS: After the change in battery, I've also had changes in motherboard from i5 to i3 and battery.

Hello....I have a 5 1/2 year old IdeaPad Z570.  It has a Core i5-2450M and 8 Gigs of RAM.  I read in another thread that this notebook has some issues with some SSD's.  I want to put a 500GB SSD in the notebook.  Which SSD do you recommend that will not have compatability issues with the notebook?  I won't use Crucial, but I'm open to any other brand.  Thanks.
