Hi:
I've started a virtual machine which has two nics with qemu-kvm on server 192.168.6.2, one nic with qemu-kvm param "-redir tcp:40037::3389" is in "user" mode which IP is 10.0.2.15, so if I connect to 192.168.6.2:40037, it will map to
10.0.2.15:3389, the other is in bridge mode which IP is 192.168.6.100, my pc is 192.168.6.220, In the vm, "route print" shows two default gateway as below:
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.6.1 192.168.6.100 5
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.2.2 10.2.2.15 5
When I use my pc connect to 192.168.6.2:40037, always cat not connect, so I change the metric value to 100 of 10.0.2.2, it works well.I am confusing. My question is:
I capture packet on nic 10.0.2.15, when connect, the src IP is 192.168.6.220, src mac is the mac of 10.0.2.2, all these are right, but when reply, why it still select default gateway of 10.0.2.2? I mean the dst is 192.168.6.220 and there is a route
item like:
192.168.6.0 255.255.255.0 on-link 192.168.6.100 261
why doesn't it choose this one?
Or it doesn't find routing table at all when reply, just according to the receive interface? But if really this, why doesn't it work when metric value are the same?
Or it doesn't find routing table at all when reply, just according to the src mac, then find arp cache of two interfaces? But when I delete arp cache, it still works well...

I am using a 3G modem (Virgin Mobile MC760). In short; I have 2 connections; 1 is wired ethernet and the other is this 3G modem. I want to be able to use the 3G modem in a guest Vmware system while still using my regular ethernet for everything else in the host. (Unfortunately this modem doesn't work in VM so I am stuck having 2 internet connections in Win7 and trying to route this).

I have read up on metric values but heres the problem. I set the ethernet for a metric value of 1 and the 3g connection as 9999, ethernet alone works fine, as soon as I connect the 3g modem it takes priority and changes my metric value of the ethernet higher and creates a 0.0.0.0 default gateway, when my ethernet is 192.168.1.1. The only way around this is if I disconnect my ethernet and reconnect it, it will then take priority and have both be connected and use ethernet.

Is there any solution to this?

Dont think so. I have a virgin 3g modem and the coding is built into the firmware in the dongle.

Hi all,

I have 2 adapter, same model same speed. When I use "route print" command to check the table, they are the same metric.

I need to use the designated adapter to connect a server. How can I make sure this adapter is higher priority in the route table. 
Remark: This PC is not allow to set the route table. I have to use the automatic metric algorithm.

to forward a port i typed my default gateway in the browser then i got this pageIP Address Lookup - Home page at the top right corner there was a login field wherei tried to login without having an account i tried .I tried five times and each time i failed.after five times the webpage banned me for fifteen minutes from then my default gateway is 0.0.0.0.

Hi. How is everyone? I am having trouble with my wireless connection. I am using a D-link wireless card and a D-link modem/router. My wireless internet connection drops out about every hour, I refresh my browser, press reconnect to MSN Messenger and it is all good again. But every so often I drops out and won't reconnect, I need to restart the computer to get it connected again. When it does this, I press troubleshoot on messenger and it gives a message " Default gateway - your gateway appears to be offline ". Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks for your replies.

Hello, my wireless internet goes off and on. The yellow exclamation comes up. It last for several seconds and then does it again if I try to load several web pages at once. When I run the diagnostics, Windows says it "fixed" that the Default Gateway was not available. Is there something on my laptop that I need to change as far as settings are concerned because it works some of the time but not all of the time. It seems to stop working when I try loading youtube videos.

Hi,

I have been having trouble maintaining a wifi connection. When I start my computer and connect to a network it seems to be working fine then, out of no where, it will drop the connection and say "Unidentified network. No internet access". I have tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them, updating to the latest drivers, and disconnecting from the network and reconnecting. The only thing that seems to work temporarily is to troubleshoot the issue which only resets the adapter and tells me that "the default gateway is not available". I have attached a photo below.

I have tried Googleing my issue and looking a multiple peoples solutions but to no avail. I am turning to this forum as a last resort and hoping I can get some insight from people who have had similar issues or can hopefully point me in the right direction. I am running Windows 10 64 bit with a Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230.

Let me know if you need anymore information about my setup.

Hey everyone, I have a desktop computer with an Ethernet card, I disconnect every 10-15 minutes most of the time. Sometimes it won't go out for a couple of hours, but every time it's the same routine. I have to click "Troubleshoot Problems" and it always resets my Wireless adapter. I'm a gamer and I just can't afford to be disconnecting in the middle of a game all the time, please help... it's Christmas Eve and I want to play League of Legends. I attached the ipconfig.

I am using a router with internet access with the default gateway of 192.168.1.1 and another router with intranet access with the default gateway of 192.168.105.4 and the internet router is not being accessed even with the correct address. It thinks those two are the same.

A:Default Gateway not doing anything

Based on my limited understanding, a router wouldn't have a default gateway... they each have an address, and it can be used as your client system's default gateway.

What is your network mask on your client? What is the ip of your client? My guess is that your client is 192.168.105.x with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 based on your description. The client will send all requests outside of the local network to whichever is set as its default gateway, which should (I believe) be on the same subnet.

Since you have 2 gateways, you will probably need to do some sort of routing beyond what is provided with a default gateway.

A:Default Gateway

First thing you need check is the correct address for your router's admin. This is either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1, unless it has been changed. Which one is used depends on the brand of the router. Have a look at your quick start guide or user manual.

Second thing, since you have DHCP off (in your router - the 169.254.x.x address), you have to manually configure your IP, Subnet and default gateway. The first will be in the range 192.168.x.2 - 192.168.x.254, where x is either 0 or 1, depending on your router's configuration. The subnet will be 255.255.255.0, and the default gateway is the IP address of your router.

DNS servers will be picked up from your router once you are connected, or you can manually enter them like 208.67.222.222 / 208.67.220.220 (OpenDNS), etc.

Or, you can turn on DHCP in your router and let it assign your device(s) the required addresses. This is a better idea because it allows you to roam around and automatically get IP addresses.

Hi there,

I'm just wondering what the difference is between default gateway and Wan IP. I thought it was the default gateway address that was usually the IP address designated for your router but when I log onto my router setup utility I have one address for Default Gateway and one for a WAN IP. When I perform a whatismyip test on websites it apears the WAN IP address is what is assigned to my router.

Also how am I able to access my upstair computer which has a local IP address from the outside world somehow going through my router?

Hi, i was wondering if you could help me, i have a laptop computer with windows 7 and im having trouble connecting to my wireless internet. It says that im receiving packets but not sending them. I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit.

My internet connection randomly disconnects every 5 or so minutes. I don't know how to fix it. I have to run troubleshooting to get it to work again.

Im pretty sure I have tried all the forums out there from Vista patches to dns flushes, netsh commands, driver uninstalls/installs, reboots, manual IP entry, you name it ive done it and im at a loss here so I decided to post it up. I have a dell inspiron 1525 notebook. I connect to the router and when I give it the old ipconfig /all I get no COnnection-specific DNS Suffix OR Default Gateway. I have always disabled IPv6 because I didnt need it and many people said it was in conflict with IPv4 sometimes. Hopefully someone can help me:)

Hello, about a week ago, I purchased an Asus x401u laptop, that hasn't been able to connect wirelessly to the internet since I bought it. Windows diagnostic keeps coming up saying that the default gateway is unavailable. I know that the wireless does indeed work because i have 4 other devices connected wirelessly just fine. Also, I can connect to the internet just fine with an ethernet cable. The laptop is running windows 7 64 bit and the network adapters are:

1) 802.11n Wireless LAN Card
2) Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter
3) Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling them but that did not work. I've also tried /ipconfig release/renew and that didn't help either. I'm not sure what else to try. Also, it might be worth noting that my network comes up as "unidentified" when i connect to it, which is why I can't get internet access. The router we're using in the house is an Arris TG862G/CT (came with our comcast internet plan).

I can get Internet on my smart phone, but now can't connect on the same laptop I used here prior.

I've seen a few posts like this, but none of the solutions in those posts have worked for me. So here it goes:
For the last week or so, I've been having issues with my ASUS notebook disconnecting from my wireless network or having a limited connection. This would happen maybe twice a day, but eventually I went online and I found that I had an outdated driver for my Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230, and as soon as I downloaded the latest driver, my notebook would disconnect every 5 minutes or so. Running the troubleshooter just keeps returning the same thing; Default gateway not available. It also does this annoying thing where it'll disconnect and reconnect over and over again, so quickly that the network sharing center can't even register it's happening.
I've tried resetting the WINSOCK, IPv4 TCP/IP, and IPv6 TCP/IP stacks, I've tried a clean boot to see if it was a startup program affecting my connections, and I've changed my power settings so they don't turn off my adapter. I even tired booting my computer in safe mode, which didn't help whatsoever because I have no clue what I'm doing.

For starters, I have coompared my settings to yours and I cannot see any noticeable differences. So, have you tried going back to that outdated driver? Sometimes the latest is not always the greatest. Have you tried rebooting your modem and router and then doing an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew?

hey guys. im new here. i joined because i keep on having the same problem. i read around the forum a bit before joining and i saw that mcafee was causing the problem for a lot of people. i dont have mcafee so that cant be it. any help with this problem would be appreciated. i have several crashes per day. like, literally close to 100 of them. please help. i cant even do my homework at this point.

Hi there,

I'm having trouble keeping my lenovo laptop (running windows 8) connected to the internet, and hoped someone might be able to help. I have been able to connect successfully to multiple wireless networks and access the internet until I tried to connect to the new network.

Initially everything is OK - I can connect to the network and access the internet. However after a short period of time (anywhere from a few seconds to 20 minutes) the network connection will change to limited, without internet access. If I simply disconnect and reconnect to the network the internet will immediately be working again (at least for a few seconds/minutes).

Alternatively, if I run the troubleshooter, I always get the message that the default gateway is not available, which has been fixed by resetting the wi-fi adapter.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if there's any more information you need.

Ye hello i have been getting this error, sometimes a few times a day or then sometimes a week.. But still it has the same effect as being on Facebook it is disturbing as hell!!!

Okay the thing that happens is that i get a little yellow triangle with the exclamation mark on it and i cant get online and the only solution so far is that i have to troubleshoot my internet and then i am online again!!

But i need a better solution because yes no one wants every time to right click the network icon in the right corner and press Troubleshoot Problems!

Can you give us a little more info?

What type of modem/router do you have? (I have seen reports that this is a known problem for some nvidia network controllers).

Have you tried a power reset or factory reset on the modem/router?

Is your network configuration set for static or DHCP configuration?

Do you have more than one PC/Laptop? If so, does this problem occur on only one device, or on all?

Is your modem/router on a current firmware?

This post might be helpful..."the default gateway is not available"

Have you tried to google this error? There are lots of results for this problem. Perhaps something on one of those posts might assist.

My XP desktop has recently stopped being able to connect to the internet. I connect my router/modem with a Micronet SP907GK USB wireless adaptor. I am unable to connect to the web with any browser though I AM able to reach the router configuration pages. The windows live messenger troubleshooter tells me that it can confirm an IP but fails in testing "default gateway".

I am still able to connect through the same router using my Linux laptop.

I have tried turning off the windows firewall and the router wirewall. I have tried using the windows network configuration tool and using the Micronet configuration utility with and without zero-config.

I can't think what can have changed on the computer to cause this.

((ps sorry if this is rushed I did that classic thing of writing a post and thinking I'd published it only to find it seems to have disappeared))

Hello,
I am not the greatest when it comes to computers, so keep that in mind. The problem I have is regarding my gateway connection (that troubleshooter tells me from Microsoft). I have been having problems connecting to the internet for 2 months.. I know, a long time. I should've fixed this long ago but I'm at the point that I'm losing the patience. I can't keep internet for more than 5-10 minutes before it goes out and then I have to wait for it to reconnect. I hope someone can help me resolve this problem because I do need this laptop to go to college. Thank you!

So I just recently got a new Alienware 17 R2 laptop, and for some reason, I've been having a lot of issues with my internet that I didn't have on my old laptop, namely: Every so often (used to be only late at night, but nowadays it happens every 5-20 minutes or so) I'll get limited connectivity and when I troubleshoot the problem it says "Default Gateway not Available" has been fixed, this is only a temporary fix, as it happens a again a few minutes later, I don't get it.

Hi, I am having the same problem with a new computer via my home wireless connection. My laptop stopped connecting to the internet today and it keeps connecting for 20 to 30 seconds at a time and then disconnects. It periodically tries to get back on again and sometimes does but again, it only stays on for 10 to 30 seconds and then shuts off. When I do the windows Network Diagnostics it tells me that the default gateway is not available and it fixes it and connect me to the internet for 10 to 30 seconds and then shuts off again. I have tried multiple things that I found on the internet and nothing is helping. how can I get rid of this annoying problem?
I am running an Asus laptop with Windows 10.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help me

I have an arris EMTA Comcast voice and internet modem connected to a 4 port Netgear router. The Netgear, when connected directly to my desktop with an ethernet cable, is able to get my desktop computer online with no issues. The wireless network is able to get my laptop online with no issues. However, when I attempt to connect my laptop hardwired, it tells me it is an "unidentified network" on my LAN. I have powercycled, hard reset, restarted, disabled/enabled my NIC and LAN. The results of my ipconfig are below, and the lack of a default gateway without a 169 IP address confuses me. I also see no errors on the NIC or any of the connections. The ipconfig /all is below:

I know there are lots of other posts with this same issue, but i still cant seem to figure out what the solution is. The internet on my laptop only works intermittently. After a minute or so of initial use, it stops working and when I run the troubleshooter it discovers that the default gateway is not available, and then it says that it has fixed the problem. However, after only a minute or so more, the internet once again fails. I have tried the "run>cmd>enter>ipcongfig>enter" and found that the numbers for the default gateway are the same on my laptop as for a laptop that does work. So what is going on?

This problem began after I switched from an older linksys router to a much newer model. So I'm assuming that is what caused the problem

Hi everyone, I'm cracking up trying to find a definitive solution for this damn problem. My windows 10 desktop PC, says the Default Gateway is not available. I've checked my Ethernet cable, tried all the solutions I've found online. It's such a pain because you don't know when the connection to the web will drop off. So frustrating. So I'm hopping you lovely people will help. Maybe point me to where there is a solution that I could follow.

Welcome to the forum. When you get that does the router still have a internet connection and does the port light on the router show the pc port connected. Have you tired setting an static ip you can ge this if your dhcp lease is very short. Open a cmd prompt type ipconfig /all post results

I am using HUAWEI wireless router supplied by Aol and I lose the wireless internet connection quite often. Whenever I click on troubleshoot problems it comes up with:

Default gateway was unavailable - Fixed

But then after a couple of minutes the internet goes down again. does anybody know how to sort/fix this????

I Have a Toshiba C660D Laptop With windows 7 and my wireless Router is a HUAWEI EchoLife HG521.

I had this issue a while back and I thought I'd solved it when I get a wifi dongle to use instead of my laptop's card. Apparently not, its sh*tting up again. My wifi connection keeps going to limited every 15 minutes or so and when I run the troubleshoot it says what's in the title. I tried setting an ip/dns like a friend told me to but I don't know what to set it as, I've just been trying different things and it hasn't helped. And before anyone suggests it, no, I can't use an ethernet cable.
 
Where should I start? What information do yous need to help me?

The first step would be to go to another network and see if the connection is a problem there.
If not, then it's your network.
If it is, then it's a problem with your computer.
 
For starters, try updating your wireless drivers - both for the donge and for the laptop's card
Are you able to reset your router?
Does your router have a password (other than the one that it came with)?
If not, then set it to a new password - then reset the router to default settings - then check the DNS settings (to make sure it's something that's OK - not a hijack)

My laptop is plagued by disconnects citing the default gateway not being available. The other devices within the household are able to connect solidly. My drivers are up to date. I cleared my DNS cache.

Hi there,

I've recently started having an issue with my network, whereby every time I start up my pc it connects to the correct wireless network but it says no internet access. If I run the windows troubleshooter it fixes the problem and says that the "default gateway is not available". Its recently started to drop out on me once or twice now as well and i have to run the troubleshooter again. Once its up and running it seems to run fine, although I have noticed that the very occasional website seems not to want to load up!? Maybe thats unrelated... Anyway I'm using Windows 7 Professional (64-bit). Any help you could give would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Make sure you have the latest correct wireless driver (if a laptop integrated adapter the driver should be from the PC manufacturer's web site).

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista or 7.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Sounds to me like somebody is using a static IP on that network, the problem is that if they don't use an IP which is outside the range of DHCP IP scope then you will end up with an IP conflict.

I would figure out who is using this static IP then let them know they need to use an IP which isn't in the range of IP's which DHCP is using.

You can find out the DHCP range by looking in the routers set up page which for you looks like a Belkin router at 192.168.2.1

Conversely you could try setting up a static IP of your own so as to avoid this IP conflict.

Any one have an idea how to get my computer to stop booting me off many times while using? It stops connecting to the modem and gives me the following message "default gateway not available". I follow instructions and the computer reconnects to the modem. This has happened ever since I got my dell inspiron. ANY IDEAS?

Hello, I had this problem and is probably thje most annoying.

I always have an error showing up in my network, due to "no default gateway available" which can easily be fixed by using "Diagnose" but it will show again after about a min or 5mins. It's really annoying. I'm on a internet shop atm so I'm not able to fill up some more info about my laptop but when I got a good signal I might post it here.

P.S. my friends laptop works and mine is the only one who have a problem.
P.S. my device manager tells me that PCI controller driver network or something related to PCI is not installed on my PC.
P.S. I'm using Win7

For some time now, when I surf the net, I often get disconnected with the wording "default gateway not available". Using the troubleshooting function provided by Windows the correction is carried out immediately, but unfortunately the problem persists. I have a home network which includes 2 desktop computers (connected via cable) and other mobile devices, and the problem occurs only on one of the desktop computers. OS: Windows 7 Router: NETGEAR DGN1000. I do not know what other information should I add, thank you in advance for your help.

my family uses an Internet Broadband that says ADSL2+ Modem Router. Then on the back of the Broadband, there is a printed/ sticked "Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1".
what is this? 192.168.1.1? can i connect to it with my laptop?

So at least once a day I am faced with the following message when browsing etc. Pretty much I lose total internet access on my PC. I use an Ethernet cable.



I ran the Windows Network Diagnostics and my internet was back and working again, this is what I was shown.




I'm here to seek a permanent fix or maybe what is causing the problem to begin with. It's honestly starting to get on my nerves because every day I have to run through the diagnostics to get internet again.

Any help/advice is appreciated, cheers.
