I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I needed to replace my keyboard on my Thinkpad Yoga 20CD, so I swapped parts, and long story short, no post, no BIOS, no external video.  When I plug in the AC adapter, I get 3 blinking red lights on the "i" Thinkpad LED.  If I press the power button, the backlight on the keyboard comes on for 1 second, fades away, and the red LED stays on.  Fan on the CPU spins for about 3 seconds, then stops.  There is a chip on the motherboard underneath the card reader that gets EXTREMELY hot on both the AC power and battery, even without turning it on.  I guess I just need to know if I somehow fried the board when swapping parts?  If there is a short somewhere on the board?  Is there anything I can do to get it to boot, and prevent it from getting so hot?  I've tried a complete power drain, removing the CMOS battery, and leaving it sit overnight with nothing plugged in, all to no avail.  Any help or suggestions wold be greatly appreciated.

Hey Community, I'm in dire need for help, my lenovo Y50-70 has been working fine for the past 3 years now and JUST after the warrenty is up, my battery becomes funky. I noticed that whenever I load up a game, the charger becomes unrecognized and instead of regular led lights, i get one blinking white light and one blinking orange light. When I remove the AC adapter and plug it back in, it'll recognize the charger and ocasionally it'll take some time to recognize it. It stops charging when the LED lights begin to blink. I've tried to1. "remove the static" or drain the battery by unplugging the AC adapter2. holding down the power button for 30 seconds (I didnt remove the battery because it's not a removable battery, Should I?).3. Changed the power settings to high performance and no conservation of power.4. I bought a new adapter and it's still happening, I have no idea what to do. Intially prior of buying a new adapter it drained and I couldnt figure out a way to get it to charge. With the new adapter I was able to charge it till full, but when I have it on, it does the same thing.  Please help me community, you kind souls. Best,Richard

Hi, I just replaced my motherboard on my Dell Latitude D820. When I power on the laptop the A light and the down arrow light come on. The power light stays on, no blinking, but the A light and the down arrow light (keyboard lights) continue to blink and the screen is black. Im not sure what the problem is. I see power but nothing is running. I've checked that everything is secure. One thing I noticed is that when powering the machine on the CD/DVD light does not come on either.

Can anyone help.

Are all display/graphic/video adapters independent of the chip sets (for North and South Bridge) on the motherboard?

Can I use a Radeon or nVidia card if the mobo has an Intel chip set (P965 or P975, for example)?

Do I gain a performance advantage if the North Bridge, South Bridge and daughter card GPU are all of the same manufacturer?

Where can I find a current review of video cards priced at less than $250? Note: gaming is not an interest.

Hello, I the power supply light of my Media Center m1050y is blinking and the PC does not turn on at all. So I tried the troubleshooting sequence posted here in the HP Support site, and after unplugging all the cables and replugging them one by one, it turns out that the light blinks only when the PS is connected to the mother board (the connection is a white, wide plug with about 12 pins - pardon my ignorance on the actual name). I looked on the internet about trying to narrow the cause on the motherboard and I unplugged the front USB ports, the fan, and other "solutions" without any luck. Does this mean the motherboard is fried and either I need to replace the motherboard or look for another PC? Thanks!

What troubleshooting sequences did you try......was it this.   Suggestion: get a hair dryer, and use it at the rear vent. See if the light stops flashing. Read about the hair dryer tip here.

I got a new ac power adapter from Target earlier today and decided to try it out. I noticed just as I put it in for the first time that it wasn't the correct Voltage. the Target one only goes up to 12 volts, where as the lappy requires 16.

However, you take for granted the object in which you didn't purchase...(sometimes)...so I decided what-the-hell and tried it anyway.

The lappy blinked the battery low indicator light when i started to boot, which is fine because it was low on batteries to begin with. However, I have been running it for 25 minutes now with the battery indicator on 0% in the task bar, and it has yet to tell me that my battery is running low. Though it does list the indicator with a big X, as if it was running low and I wasn't connected to an outside power source.

How much damage am I doing to the battery? Since it requires 16 and I am only feeding it 12, can it really be that detrimental?

i have an ibm thinkpad type 2628 (pentirum III). the charger was lost, and my son found a charger that he thought would work. while i was at work, he plugged a sysco router charger (48 volts) into the laptop. now the laptop won't turn on. my question is, would the pc just shut off when a power current larger than allowed, is plugged in? (just like when it gets too hot, it shuts off). is there a fuse or reset or something? or is this thing just fried? there must be a way to fix this. or is there?

A:Ibm thinkpad - wrong ac adapter plugged in

Not good news. At best the power controller card is fried, at worst the whole motherboard went with it. You need a specialist repair shop - if you are in UK I can let you have a name.

Hi,My Y260 is having a weird trouble which I believe is hardware/motherboard related : whenever I plug the power supply, the CPU steps down to 0.38GHz... This is 1/6th of the full 2.3GHz the i5-6200U can provide, and the CPU is stuck at 16% use, which is 1/6th of 100%.If I unplug the AC adapter then the machine shuts down as if it had no battery. If I start it without an AC adapter then the CPU uses the full 2.3GHz and everything is fine, until I plug it in !I already tried disabling Intel Speedstep or any power saving stuff onto the BIOS, and I ran every Lenovo hardware tests and everything seems OK. Do someone have any idea about what I could try ?If none, I will have to call Lenovo (46 days of warranty left !) but I would prefer not I need my Thinkpad for my job. Thanks,Boris (from France so excuse my english)

I have an old Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga type 20CD. Recently I lost the system after a Windows 10 update. It took me a month to get the Lenovo recovery CD because the BIOS of this machine is locked.I found myself under Windows 8.1.The PC ran for 2 days but failed as the SSD was in poor condition. So I bought a SSD in the trade identical to that of the machine with a similar reference Lenovo. After formatting, the repair CDs refuse to install the system.I think they are good but they are intended for recovery only and do not recreate the proper disk structure.Who would have the solution to recreate this structure? I almost succeeded (UFI partition in fat 32, partition MSR, partition of data in NTFS but I can not create the locked system partition (1000 Mb) I could have done it using the commands in CMD but they no longer work under Windows 10 (for example SET DISK or other instructions that worked previously are no longer recognized. How to do it?Help!

I'm facing the same issue. Suddenly it won't power on. Only LED indicator blinks when plugging in the power supply; and the LED turns on for a few seconds without plugging in the power supply. Beside that nothing happens. Any clue how to solve this? I've checked the connectors but they look ok. I've also tried resetting via "reset button" on the backside. further I've tried several sequences pushing the power button and holding it for 30 - 60 seconds. So far nothing helped. Any clue? Thanks.

Need to spend a grand to get a new MB?? Tried removing the battery, drain power, use only power cord. No luck.

A:After update ThinkPad Yoga, 20CD cannot POST!

I wish they would stop pushing BIOS updates other than at the request and guidance of support, they seem to fail too often and brick far too many systems.       You can usually perform a Boot Block Recovery on modern motherboards, but I do not think Lenovo has implemented that technology on their laptops for security reasons, but you might still check with Lenovo Support to see if they have any options short of replacing the system board.  BTW:   Does your system have the emergency reset hole on the back side of the case, and if so have you tried unplugging it from the power supply, and then pressing it for about 10 seconds or so?  (see item #1 on page 46 of the Hardware Maintenance Manual) Hardware Maintenance Manualhttps://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/s1_yoga_hmm_en_sp40a26742_01.pdf

Hello Everyone! My ThinkPad Yoga was my daily laptop for years until it stopped charging. I replaced the wall adapter in hopes that it would be a cheap, easy fix, but that didn't work any better than the original one. It won't turn on and the red charging LED (the dot on the i of the ThinkPad logo) doesn't light up anymore. I'm waaaaay out of warranty so I'll need to replace any needed parts on my own. Where do I start for troubleshooting this?

Long story short, i erased everything and performed a clean install of Windows 10 64bit and the computer stopped shutting down or go into sleep mode. I had Windows 8.1 64bit, i upgraded it to Windows 10 about a year ago, when it first came out. The upgrade went almost fine, some bit issue with the OS but nothing serious, so i went on till i decided, to correct those little issues, to perform a clean install.  So i downloaded the media creation tool, the version with the anniversary update, and erased everything, but keeping the recovery partition. After the install, i started having troubles with entering sleeping mode or shutting down the laptop.I installed the power management driver i found on the site (n1cku04w). With that I can shut down even if it strangely blinks a few times before shutting down. I can enter sleep mode and wake it up properly if I do it from the start menu, but if i close the laptop or try using the power button takes me to a state where OS is sleeping and HW is still awake, so i can't do anything apart from force it off. Strangely too, the driver on the site is overriden from another version i recieve from System Update app. But, with the version from System Update app, i can't even shut it down properly, the OS dies but the HW is still awake and fully functioning leading me to kill it pressing the Power Button. Anybody have faced the same issue? If somebody with the same laptop still has Windows 8.1 can he tell me, someh... Read more

I am working on someones Emachine T2682.
When I first got the computer I turned it on. Had nothing.
Thought I didnt have it plugged in good.
Left the room a second. Came back and saw the HDD light, PowerLight and the Network card Lights blinking about 120 times a minute.
Opened the case and the CPU Fan was not spinning.
Couldnt figure out what was going on.
I then removed the RAM and no beeping.

If I remove the ATX12V connector the 4 Pin to the MOBO the Cpu fan will turn on and it would stop the blinking.

So I found a Powersupply I had in the drawer.
Put it in and it worked fine.

Thougth I had it fixed but I had the computer on and looking at some pictures on the computer and it turned off the Monitor. Went from Green to the Amber.

Turned off computer and would not turn on.
I had to remove the Power cables and wait a few. Turned it back on and started up fine.
Once on it started blinking again and the CPU fan stopped again.

Turned off and back on. Worked for a long time. Went to Shut down and it was shutting down. Almost off. The monitor was already black and the blinking HDD, Powerbutton and Network Card started blinking again and cpu fan stopped.

What would you think is causing this?

A:Lots of Blinking Lights

Like I said I replaced with pretty much the same supply.
It starts up but when almost off it does this flashing and clicking of the CDROM it sounds like. And won't turn off.

Another thing I found and I dont know if this is related but I can not use any of the USB ports. I wanted to put speed fan on with my usb keychain. But the ports won't work.

Also just wanted to note. I pulled the Network card and Modem card.
Some people were saying maybe the powersupply is not powerfull enough, so pull those and see if it still happens. Yes it does.

So I am still clueless on if it is
Powersupply, MOBO or CPU

I have installed a MXM card to boost the graphics support on my computer, but now my PC won't boot. I've read the error manual and this means a power supply failure. Is there any way to get by this, or upgrade my power supply?

A:4 Red Blinking Lights and Beeping

Hi: I assume you have the 8200 Elite USDT? If so, yes, you will have to buy the power supply that is required when you add the mxm card. 180W 87% efficient external Power Adapter (when configured with discrete graphics) AC adapter, 180W   HP Part #  613766-001 See page 23 of the quickspecs at the link below...  http://www.nts.nl/site/html/modules/PDF/PC/hp%208200%20elite%20sff.pdf You currently have the 135W P/S which cannot power up the PC with the add on graphics card. I also assume you were able to find the heat sink that goes on top of the mxm card? I think those are pretty hard to come by. Heat sink - MXM graphics card (includes thermal material)   HP Part # 646807-001 Without the heat sink, the graphics card will probably burn out in a matter of a couple of minutes.

Hi..hope someone can help. My Epson Color Stylus 740 has stopped printing and all red lights plus the green power light are blinking. I had a slight paper jam and ejected it and then I couldn't get the cartridges to move to the "change cartridge position" so that I could change the color cartridge. I can't do a nozzle check nor a test page...the paper won't move down. The only activity that can be performed is the on and off. A:Epson printer lights all blinking

According to page 149 of the manual (just downloaded a copy to look) it means that either there is something jamming the printer or that the printer has an internal error (hardware fault)

The first option would be fixable by you, the second means it's toast.

I was playing a game, my system crashed to the point of the power shutting down. I could not turn the power back on immediately.

The keyboard that was in my system is now destroyed as a result. The lights on the keyboard blink repeatedly. This has happened twice now. Both times the keyboards were destroyed. Trying the keyboards on another computer did not solve the problem.

I haven't played any memory intensive games since the second crash, because I do not know if it was specific to the one game, or if I would destroy another keyboard.....and keyboards are starting to get expensive.

I have two questions, first is, anyone have any ideas on what caused the crash?

The second is, is there any way to reset the keyboards?

My PC has a built-in ethernet card. The orange lite blinks, green lite is steady.

QUESTION: Does this indicate that the card is properly functioning?

A:Ethernet card blinking lights

The normal is:

green=100 mb
amber=10 mb

Also normally the Green light will flash with activity.

Tho not all mfg go by this. Not sure why you have both a green and amber unless it is indicating activity.

What is the brand of NIC?

But I would not worry unless you have issues.

My HP Deskjet 6122 printer, which I purchased in France and brought with me to the US, is blinking all it's lights when I first plugged it in here (i.e. the US).

Clearly, the printer can handle the voltage/watt differences and for the most part, the computer seems to recognize it (i think) but past that, when I try to print, it wait a few minutes, goes through the processes and just says there is a printer error. Meanwhile, all lights on the printer panel are blinking, in sequence, non-stop when the printer is on.

I called up HP support and they have mostly unhelpful. They suggested to change the power cord -- i tried that and it didn't make a difference. They suggested to change the cartridges -- I tried that and it did not work either. I even tried a couple of button-pressing manipulations, but my printer seems to ignore them.

I just don't know what to do! Can anybody, please, please, anybody out there help me? Is my printer doomed for the garbage bin???
