Error copying file or folder; cannot copy img the directory or file cannot be created

Q: Error copying file or folder; cannot copy img the directory or file cannot be created

I cannot copy or paste jpeg files from my computer to my SD 2GB cards. Also, I get this msg when I try to print jpeg files. Using Adobe Elements I am able to archive these files. Oddly enough I can attach and send these jpeg files via email. Prior to August '08 was able to do these tasks without a problem. I suspect that there is a software compatibility problem since this problem came on suddenly (maybe iTunes?). No problems importing jpeg files from SD cards. I've looked at several sites on the internet but none seem to have the right solution for my problem. THANKS for any help that you can provide! -Stu

Preferred Solution: Error copying file or folder; cannot copy img the directory or file cannot be created

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Error copying file or folder; cannot copy img the directory or file cannot be created

This has caught me more than once.

The problem is a limitation on the number of files and folders allowed in the root folder of a FAT16 file system (as for a memory card) of 512. (Note, this number is reduced much further if longer file names than 8 characters are used, as most people will want to).

When transferring the files onto the card, new files will be rejected when you hit this limit.

So keep your files in separate folders, so they are not all in the root folder.

For files and folders in root it might be worth keeping your filenames under 8 characters in length so you can use the full 512 files on root folder.

I have a problem copying photos in jpeg; There are about 600 photos in onde folder. When I try to move the photos to an SD card (which I just reformatted), some but not all will copy over. It is not a capacity issue. I receive the message "Cannot copy the file. The directory or file cannot be created." Further, the problem seems to have followed the same files to my external hard drive and a CD! This means I cannot copy from my backup to any other device. Other backup cd's work just fine, and most other photos can be moved about with no issues. I can, however, move the affected files into a zip folder and unzip them. But I am not sure that even worked because there did not appear to be much compression when zipped. In any event, it appears the file itself got corrupted somehow - any ideas?

Not sure what the problem is. I am trying to copy picture folders from IE pictures to a flash drive and it keeps saying "the directory or file cannot be created". Okay....what's the issue? I have made backups to flash drives before because it doesn't want to recognize my CD drive for some reason. I'm losing my patience. I have to back up these photos or else I have to transport them out onto the web to be protected from a hard-drive meltdown. I have over 3000, so I'm getting really nervous about this lack of ability to backup. Any ideas out there?

The only thing out of the ordinary that i did was sync about 1000 photos to an ipod with the itunes software. What gives. Please Help.

Thanks Alot!

I think there is a limit to the number of files you can copy to the root. You can only have so many that are not in folders

Try this and see if it works
Make some folders on your desktop name them what you want. E.g. ?Pictures 1?, ?Pictures 2? etc

Then "move" or "cut" not copy all the photos from the card into the folders on the desktop.

Once all the photos are in the folders on the desktop, cut the folders off the desktop and paste back onto the card.

Files in a folder count as 1 file in the Root directory even if it has many files.

I am copying (drop & drag) a large number of .mp3 files (650gb) from a laptop to a "new" 2tb external hdd. After a certain point (varies), I start receiving the error code "0x80070052 Directory of File cannot be created" and it will not allow me to copy that file to the hdd into that particular folder. From what I've read, this issue is typically related to the HDD format, but this one is a Hitachi HDS722020ALA330 and is formatted FAT32. I've been able to finish copying the files over to the HDD, but it required me to create a several new folders.... it will copy some more files, but after a period of time will interrupt the process again with the same error message. I am now trying to consolidate the .mp3 files that exist on the 2tb HDD into a single folder, but the error code continues to keep me from finishing. I ran a registry cleaner and completed the disk error utility located under properties/tools, but no issues were found.
PC = HP HDX18 Laptop, 4gb ram, 1TB hdd, Vista Home Prem 64x
HDD = Fantom 2tb eSATA/USB external HDD with Hitachi drive (FAT32)

Any suggestions or assistance????

Hi
Apologies for the title - I tried to encompass my problem.

Basically, it's this:

I have a drive that I need to copy all the data from and move to a larger drive (1TB DAS moved to a 6TB NAS device). I need to preserve the folder's date created and (if possible) modified attributes, as the data being copied is a WIP folder for a big CGI
project, and it's important to be able to track and find specific info/folders via date created... essentially the job is ongoing for another 6/7 months.

So, normal copy/paste won't do... thanks to this forum :) I've used Xcopy and worked out how to migrate the data and keep the all the new/copy folder's date created and modified attributes in line with the original/source.

Meaning I can make a perfect copy with folder dates that match.

However (and this is where I am head scratching), as soon as any new data is added into the copy folder, it's attributes change... not only the folder's modified date (which I was expecting) but also the date created folder.

This is a problem as the folders will have new data added to them on an ongoing basis... but, as both modified and created dates change to the time the new file is added, it causes issues when finding specific nested folders via creation date.

Example: Copy folder (done today via Xcopy) shows creation and modified date as per the source of 11/12/2012. As soon as any file is added into that folder, it updates modified and creation to the time the file w... Read more

A:How to maintain Folder attributes (date created/modified) on a 'Copy' - when a new file is added

BTW - with the Xcopy, it was a 2 stage process. /s/e/k first then a copy over but using /d/t/e/k. Copying in the first pass and then overwriting the folders in the second pass (with the correct creation date).

Thanks for the Robocopy/mir tip... that will work for bulk copying the data... sadly, when it's on the NAS, any additions to the folder change the creation date. Pretty sure it's the NAS file system (or lack of compatibility).

Going to test some spurious data using some other DAS drives - as I think it's the NAS (as per Lacie's reply).

Now I need to find a NAS that'll handle NTFS.

But at least I feel I'm getting somewhere now - thanks :)

I am trying to move a large batch of files from one folder to another on a WD "My Book" 500GB external drive and an error message keeps appearing saying the following: [Window title]: "Error moving File or Folder", [Message]: "Cannot move <filename> The directory or file cannot be created."
It seems as though I've reached a limit. Folder 1 had 29438 files in it. I tried moving all of those files into Folder 2 on the same drive (which has plenty of free space). Folder 2 accepted 22516 of those files at which point I received the error message. No further files can be added to Folder 2.

Can anyone help?

Sam

A:Cannot move file. The directory or file cannot be created...

From here:
http://itknowledgeexchange.techtarget.com/itanswers/4096-file-limit-on-xp/
"Windows XP it self doesn't have a limit on the number of files per folder. It depends on the file system that you are using. The max files and folders per folder are:
FAT16 - 512
FAT32 - 65,534
NTFS - 4,294,967,295

If you use long file names for the files and folders (over 8 characters for the file name and 3 for the extension) then the number of files and folders available per folder will be reduced on the FAT16 and FAT32 file systems.

If you need to put more files and folders in a single folder you'll need to convert the drive to NTFS. "

Not certain if that will help, what format is the drive?

I'm in the process of repair/recovery of my machine (Dell Inspiron 8500 with Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2). I'm following exactly the instructions in: http://attachments.techguy.org/attac...chmentid=62075, but a problem has developed. The "software" file (which is the file that the original blue screen error message says is "corrupt, absent or not writable") will not copy to the new tmp directory to create the backup. My understanding from the article is that this backup file (software.bak) will later be used to restore correct settings for various software applications. Since I can't copy it, it appears that I am screwed, no? Or is there a way out somehow?

Thanks to anyone who's been there and can help...

BTW I have the XP installation disk that came with, and a diagnostics disk which I have not yet run.

Never mind, I had it wrong--didn't read the document referred to above carefully enough. The procedure worked like a charm, and the document is very easy to read and entertaining to boot! (pun intended).

The document describes a procedure that closely follows a Microsoft KB document (which I now can't find) but does not contain any warning regarding whether the OS is an OEM (original equipment manufacture) install or not. The Microsoft doc says not to use the procedure on an OEM-installed OS, but I just did it on my Dell, so that warning seems to be incorrect.

Many many thanks for the help provided by this document and this site.

Hi, I have a home network of 5 computers. Two are running XP Pro SP3, one is XP Home SP 3, one is Win 2000 Pro SP4 and the other Win 98. When I try to copy files to one of the XP Pro machines from any of the other computers, I get the message "Error Copying File or Folder", "Cannot copy filename.ext: Access is denied. The source file may be in use". I get this error when I try to copy any file to the one XP Pro system using one of the other 4 computers. When I am using the one XP Pro system I can freely copy files to and from any other computer on the network. I do not have this problem with the other XP Pro system. All systems have Administrator access, there is no encryption being used, and sharing is enabled.

Does anyone have any ideas about what may be causing this problem?

Hello, I recently restored a bunch of my data on from a messed up hard-drive to my friend's computer.

I am at his house right now trying to get the files back, but I have run into an issue that is starting to drive me INSANE!

He is on XP Pro, and I am running Vista Ultimate. We are both on the same network, and I can view my shared files from his XP machine. I can see his computer in the network from my Vista machine, but whenever I try and go into his computer I am prompted to log in. I use his login information, but it ALWAYS gives me a login error.

When asked to login to my Vista machine from his XP machine, I log in with my username and everything works fine.

However, when I try to write files to my Vista machine, I get this error:

Error copying file or folder:

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

If I was able to write files to my Vista machine from his XP machine, it would literally take 5 minutes to copy what I need over

If anyone knows how to get around this, PLEASE help! I really need my files back for work and school, and this is really starting to get aggravating.

Thanks for the help,

Looks like you are missing one digit in the first group, there should be 8, not 7:

Closest thing I've found would be 499663EE.

Does the file show up in the Command Prompt? Some files cannot be seen in Windows Explorer.
Click Start | Run (or press WinKey+R), type cmd, press Enter.
Type these lines (or copy/paste), press Enter after each:

Code:
CD /D "%AllUsersProfile%\Documents"
Dir /A
To paste into the Command Prompt, right click the Command Prompt window then click Paste. If Quick Edit is enabled, the right click will paste immediately.

Does it show up in the list of files?

Hi, first I would like to quote the information printed to the display screen with the problem I am having.

"Error Copying File or Folder

Cannot Copy <FileName>: There is not enough free disk space.

Delete one or more files to free disk space, and then try again."

Some things first;

I am attempting to save a file which is not even a MB in size.

I am attempting to save to a NTFS drive.

I am saving to an external network drive.

The drive has more than 200 GB free space.

No users on the network are able to save or copy a file to the drive, including special priviledge accounts.

A mere 3 weeks ago we were able to use the drive perfectly well.

This has occured before, but was fixed somehow. There was no documentation which leads me to believe it was fixed by error.

The machines used to attempt to save to the drive are all Windows XP machines, fully updated. The drive is located within the internal network and is accessible by all users of a specific room.

Any help is appreciated,

Thank you.

A:Error copying file or folder

Given the length of the filename, I would be willing to bet you're bumping into the limit for a filename.

Microsoft is happy to tell you that file names in Windows can be up to 255 characters long. What they neglect to tell you is that the FULL PATH is included. So say you have C:\Some_folder\another_folder\one_more_folder\some_really_excessively_long_and_obnoxious_file_name.txt that will be a 102 character long file name. If you exceed 255 characters, you tend to get a rather misleading error message like you received. Try shortening the name of the file, getting rid of the string of numbers for example, and I'd be willing to bet it will copy just fine.

Structure:
• I have a network directory that stores photos of individuals in jpg format. There may be only 2 pics of each person, or there may be 7 pics.
• Each persons pics are stored in a randomly named directory / subdirectory. dont have any control over the original program, it's just the way it was written, does not seem to follow any logical pattern, possibly a HEX naming structure based off the date & time, who knows (I will include a sample directory tree at the end of the post).
• Included within each of these created directories, along with the pictures, is a standard text file (filename "B.TXT") which includes the date the picture was taken, the persons name, and other information.
• Each time a person comes in and their picture is taken, the program: (i) creates the random directory (ii) stores the pics (iii) creates the "B.TXT" file with the persons information (iv) generates several other program specific files that I have no need for.
• The program names each of the pictures with the exact same names, which is why they are stored in different directories, so they will not overwrite. The retention period on each individuals directory, pics and files is approximately 40 days.

getting error message when i try to copy and/or move files : .Error moving XXXX.XXX. the directory or file can not be created
I'm assuming that i have met the max file amount limitation and am now just cuirious at what that number is. running win xp on NTFS with the drive im copying to being FAT32 base. the paticular folder is not the directory root either, but instead a subdirectory deepinto the D:\ drive. I know for a fac tthat the path limitation of 255 characters have not been met yet either. MS KB and technet revealed nothing of use to me, (or i just didnt search right). Work arounds have been easily made by using a differnet folder, but this is not desireably. the folder currently has close to 24,000 files but i needed to add another 24,000 files to it. Any reason why this fodler limitation is made on a subfolder, or a explanation at where this number comes form (and if can be modified) would be helpful

A:the directory or file can not be created

Is this a compressed folder? The file compression algorithm is different between NTFS and FAT32 drives, so that might explain it.

Otherwise, do you have any permissions set on the folder that might be interfering? Do you already have a folder with the same name on the second drive? Try creating the second folder manually, then go back to the first folder, select all of the contents and choose copy from the edit menu. Then paste the whole lot into the second folder.

Once you have verified that the copy has been successful you can go back and delete all the old files.

Although some drive manufactures and BIOS provided so-called "low level format utilities", they actually perform a write-read verify of the drive's user data sectors, and do not actually perform a low-level format. SimpleTech does not provide such utility. In the event of a corrupted master boot record or boot block virus, use FDISK /MBR command to restore the master boot record. But be careful not to do it to your hard drive.

Below is the directory under which I named and saved the around 200gb file of games and old-ROTC documents. Regardless the file needs to be found and even after un-hiding all files from the control panel, I have yet been able to locate it. It would seem to be simple enough, one would think that you could see the file name sitting above Program Files but it is not. Any one have any ideas, we would rather not have to reformat/ system restore if we can avoid it.

I used a software called TreeSize which shows the size of all folders on the disk. Thinking that the Windows OS is around 18gb, a 200gb files should really stick out with TreeSize.

Hello,
I am getting the following error when moving files on the same drive or from one to another:

"Error Moving File or Folder
Cannot remove folder (insert folder name here): The directory is not empty."

This is fairly common (once or twice a month) and it occurs usually with folders containing many subfolders when being moved by explorer gui "Move the selected items", or ctrl-x, ctrl-v . Repeated attempts through the same process seems to move the folders, but the errors increase as the concentration of stubborn folders increases.

There are no event viewer logs corresponding to these errors. (eventvwr.msc: system, or application)

I would have thought this would be a common problem, but extensive searches came up with nothing... so either it is rare, untroubling to others, extremely easy to fix, or my search queries suck. =)
I am going to run Checkdisk to make sure all is well there, and I will repost the likely failure.

A:"Error moving file or folder" "directory is not empty" one file left

Occasionally when I am deleting a file, it is difficult, I have to go through process explorer, search for the thread that is strangely(?) associated with that file in explorer (no reasonable dependencies could be linked, nor is the file being viewed), and kill the thread before deletion.

any thoughts?

Thanks =)

This is very wierd: I was copying files (txt, doc, pdf, rtf) from my hard drive to my flash drive. Everything went fine until the an error message advised that a file couldn't be copied because the drive was unable to create a new file and/or directory. I tried several times, but the file would not copy. This occurred on several different files. I examined the file's properties, and ran a Norton Virus Scan --- nothing was apparently wrong with these files. (I have WIN XP Home)

Finally, I tried copying one of the files from the hard drive to another folder on the hard drive. Sure enough, the moment I did that, the receiving folder had the plus sign (+) added to it in the windows explorer view. When I clicked on the plus sign, nothing happened - as though there was no subfolder. Opening the receiving folder, I found the file successfully copied. When I deleted, or removed the copied file, the folder went back to its normal status with NO plus sign. As soon as I recopied the file to the receiving folder, the plus sign instantly reappeared.

I even cut the contents of a txt file that wouldn't copy onto the flash drive, deleted the txt file, pasted the file's contents into a new Notepad, saved and named the file --- and the same error message/situation happened again.

Coincidently, these problems come a day after I discovered my browser was hijacked. I had Sonic & Veritas attempting to perform "updates" and my search button no longer went to Yah... Read more

Hi Guys,

I've managed to get two directories with the same files in them but different versions, it's a total of over 300 files.

Some of the latest versions are in one directory but some of the latest versions are in the other.

If I try to copy the files from one to the other, windows will either overwrite or skip the files, not much help.

What I need to do is to only overwrite the file if the existing file is older.

I bet it's really simple, but I can't think how to do it.

Looking forward to hearing from you (please be gentle).

Paul

Hi,
I would like to create a .bat to copy files from source folder to destination folder.
Some files in source folder already exist in destination folder (Same name)
What I would like is that files existing in destination folder to be rename to f.eks filename_BAK.extension.
Eksampel.:
Source folder include. FileOne.asp - FileTwo.exe - FileTree.txt
Destination folder include. FileOne.asp - (NO FileTwo) - FileTree.txt
Result. FileOne.asp (version from source)(Existing renamed to FileOne_BAK.asp) - FileTwo.exe - FileTree.txt (version from source)(Existing renamed to FileTree_BAK.txt)
Now in desination folder.: FileOne.asp - FileOne_BAK.asp - FileTwo.exe - FileTree.txt - FileTree_BAK.txt
Files in source folder are placed in different folders, but in same structure in destination.

Kind regards

I'm currently in the process of copying files back from the cloud in the exact same location where I had them before and now it says that the file name is too long and prompts to see whether I want to skip the file or not. The error message given does not
give the full file name or the path so it is impossible to see which files were copied successfully or not. This never happened with XP! Then afterwards I found that some of the files with long names did copy successfully whereas others didn't. I find this
to be a very user unfriendly process and I'm totally confused! These are critical files and I'm sure I haven't exceeded 260 characters or whatever. This is soOoO frustrating!!

A:file copy error message not sufficient + file name too long will not copy

Hi ,

There is a limit of filename length within Windows Explorer. In the Windows API (with some exceptions discussed in the following paragraphs), the maximum length for a path is MAX_PATH, which
is defined as 260 characters.
The shell and the file system have different requirements. It is possible to create a path with the Windows API that the shell user interface is not able to interpret properly.
This means that your long filename can only be handled at the command prompt level and you cannot drag and drop an illegal length filename within Windows Explorer.

Please simplify your folders and titles.

More information, please check the part of Maximum Path Length Limitation in the link below.

Hey all I have been trying to get all the file names of a directory copied into notepad, but i cannot get them to display without their extensions. I have been trying

dir /b

dir /b *.

dir /a-d *.

and similar commands but none seem to work. If anyone knows how to display all files in a directory with only the file name and no extension I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

A:Copy all file names in a directory without extension

NM all I figured it out. I used a program called dirprinter which is a shareware app found here

it can export a directory listing with only the file name.

Hi,
I use a few different files on a very regular basis. As an example, I have an Excel file that starts out as a template which I then modify to fit the situation. I start by navigating to the location of the "template" (via a shortcut to make it quicker), copying the file and then navigating to the sub directory where I need to copy the file. It's not a huge issue, but I'd love to simply navigate to the sub directory, right click my mouse to bring up the context menu and then click on a button to copy the file to the current sub directory I'm in.

I'm very close, but need help tweaking what I have. I created a bat file that I call from the Context menu (see below for the path I used). It works great, the only problem is that I have to click on a directory for my context button to come up. When I click on it copies my file, not into the directly I've selected, but into the current directory I'm in. This is actually good, because I'd like to be in the directory and then copy the file. The problem arises when I am in a directory that doesn't have a sub directory. In this case I have no directory to right click on and thus, I can't get my menu button to come up. I could go up one directory, click on the one I "really" want to work on, paste my file and then move the file, but I'm sure there is a better way.

Is there a location in registry where I can create a key that will come up when I right click my mouse and bring up the context menu... Read more

A:How to add a button to the context menu to copy a file to a directory

Here are some instructions I've posted to add a batch file to the right click menu. It only appears when I click on a file within a folder as far as I can tell. You can replace my stuff with yours and see what happens.

Quote:
Add Is this a link to the Windows Explorer right click Context Menu.

Step 1:
Create isItaLink.bat.
Click Start, type notepad and press Enter.
Copy and paste the following RED lines into the Notepad window:

fsutil hardlink list %*
pause

Save the files as isItaLink.bat in a folder you will be keeping.

Step 2:
Create AddisLink.reg as follows:

Click Start, type notepad and press Enter.
Copy and paste the following RED lines into the Notepad window:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\isLink]
@="Is This a Link"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\isLink\command]
@="\"C:\\xxxxxxxx\\isItaLink.bat\" \"%1\""

Note: Change xxxxxxxx to the folder you put isItaLink.bat in.

Step 3:
Merge AddisLink.reg into you registry by double clicking on it or right clicking and select Merge.

To use, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the file you are interested in,
Right click on it and select Is This a Link.

A Command Prompt window will open with the results.

I have 3 HD's running. Two (NTFS) internal and one (FAT32) external.

A 300GB (NTFS) with about 14GB of free space.
A 60GB (NTFS) with 9GB of free space.
A 160GB (FAT32) with 149GB of free space.

I am getting this error message while trying to transfer a 4GB Movie from the 300GB HD to the 160GB HD saying "Error copying file or folder, There is not enough free disk space". Obviously there is enough disk space on the target drive for the movie but for some reason or another it doesn't think so. Windows also recognizes that there is the correct amount of space available, it only says there isn't when I try to transfer.

I tested transferring with other files and it works fine, its just that file. I also tried transferring it to the 60GB HD and it worked without any problems.

My questions are:

Is there something wrong with the file?

Is it that there isn't enough room in a temporary folder for it to transfer a file that big?

Is it the fact that they are different file systems?

Is there something wrong with my HD?

Or is it something that i'm not thinking of?

Thanks for your help. Sorry if this post is in the wrong section, I thought it was the most appropriate.

A:XP "Error copying file or folder" message

Thankfully you didn't try "moving" it, sometimes from doing this it vanishes from the source (as wanted) and never gets to the destination (due to out of memory error)

I've seen this myself, it's to do with system resource on your PageFile amount of Ram being used and the CPU coming in trying to process it all.

In most cases I have run CCleaner first then copied the large file(s) across without fuss.
It's just all the temp files together and Windows thinking that memory is low when it's just the processing of this memory in a temporary location (being %temp% usually)

TRYING TO MOVE data from a DVD to my hard drive. When I try and copy the files, or any file for that matter that is a large file( over 1 GIG), I get this error when it begins copying:

DATA ERROR: CYCLIC REDUNDACY CHECK

It begins copying the file, but stops about a third into the copy process. I am using WINDOWS EXPLORER to move the files.I tried renaming file, but that did not work either, I thought maybe it had something to do with how the file was named. Any thoughts, ideas, explanations...appreciated!

I require a batch file or free utility that i can redistribute from my web site to other users, (gamers) that will copy the contents of a directory inside their game to a new location and re-name the directory at the same time. Something like this;

Copy "Genesis\Vehicles\truck\diesel\4tonbaker" to "Genesis\Vehicles\truck\diesel\4tonbutcher"

The batch file needs to be run without the need for a command line box being opened, that is, if the user can double click on it or run it with a 'right click' that would be great. Problem there is, I maybe need an exe file not a batch file. The other part of the problem is that the folder to be copied may or may not be in the same location on every PC that runs the file. It may be the case that the 4tonbaker folder is on;
C:\Genesis\Vehicles\truck\diesel\4tonbaker or
D:Genesis\Vehicles\truck\diesel\4tonbaker or even
E:\Games\mystuff\Genesis\Vehicles\truck\diesel\4tonbaker

and I require the end user to have no need to know, just for the directory to be copied and renamed when and where it is found.

If possible I then want the batch file to perform a second task. I want to distribute a folder, lets say it is 4tonbutcher and in that folder there are files lets say doc1.txt, doc2.txt and doc3.txt

On any given users PC 4tonbaker has these same named files but the content is different to the ones in my folder 4tonbutcher, I want to update the newly created folder, 4tonbutcher with the new txt files I d... Read more

I have a directory structure

Where a file can exist in multiple directories. Now I need to update the file and it would be nice to just be able to copy the changed file to all of the directories that contains the same file (filename). It can be anywhere from 1 to a couple of 100 copies.

Is there a way in Windows 7?
Anyone knows of a tool that does this?

Hi I am Rupesh from India. I have examined a website and it contains of 50000 mp3 files of which I want to download 11000 files and I have downloaded 8000 mp3 files and I want to download upto 3000 mp3 files from the same website and discard the remaining files.

I have downloaded the files from net using offline browser called extreme picture founder. In that application it has an option called skip if the destination file exists. I am going to re download the files and select the option skip if the destination file exists. The above application has also has options for scanning the website and spidering etc., of which all options I have understood.

Previously after downloading files using offline browser I have copied the files to another directory and the directory structure was lost but have files in another directories.

Briefly.....I wanted to install a program from a DVD onto my D drive called ECAT, so when the program asked where to install it I browsed for my D drive and created a folder called ECAT......The program didnt install as it came up with error messages.  I have since found out that the program HAS to be called what the program states, and NOT a user defined one......
Now as the program didnt install it no files were written.........So now when I come to install the program again, this time intending to call it EXACTLY as the program states, the first page of the installation wiil not let me change the location or name of the installation folder. It keeps coming up with the location and drive I INITIALLY asked it to be installed too....
I am guessing the program has written a secret/hidden file or folder somewhere on my D drive.... however I CANNOT FIND IT. I have tried the following.....
CC cleaned the D drive
Registry search for any file that is similar to the program name (ECAT)
A Disk Clean on D Drive
Used a program called DISK LOOK, nothing found!!!

So after all of the above the program (ECAT) still finds this hidden/invisible installation folder called D:\ECAT and WILL NOT let me browse to anyother folder or drive.....
the picture below shows the installation page....Im hoping you guys can help me out by telling me how I can get rid of this folder or install the program in its proper name and folder

THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!

A:Created a folder/file and now I cant find it to delete it

1) Did you use the "Windows Registry Editor" to look for "ECAT" ?
2) Did you make "Hidden Files" visible before you ran your search ?
3) Have you checked your install program to see if it has "ECAT" entered in it somewhere ?
