Solved: Export Contacts List from Web Mail to Windows Mail

Q: Solved: Export Contacts List from Web Mail to Windows Mail

Can anyone help please? All addresses are in btyahoo webmail and I am now using Windows Mail for emails. How can I transfer the emails addresses from web mail to Windows MAil (the old Outlook Express)?

I have selected the addresses and clicked on Export/Import at top right of screen but nothing happened. I understand it should be in the CSV format not WAB as I used to export/import using XP. And ideas?

In the Windows Mail there is the import facility giving the options CSV etc but I can't get the export/import to do anything in the web mail.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an Windows (Vista) notebook with outlook 2007, and now I have an new notebook with Windows 8.1. Where I want to export my mail & contact to Windows live mail, how can I import this in WLM on my other notebook?

I already have configure my mail on WLM where I can receive and send messages. I tried something with the program Mailstore 8 but my mail is now on another computer.

I also find this link: how to export mail, calendar contact in outlook to windows live mail clientWith the "Outlook Conversion Application" solution but is this possible on different computers and has WLM an import function?

A:Export mail and contacts from Outlook 2007 to Windows live mail 2012?

Don I might be way off track here mate but was the Outlook account the same email address as you have set up in WLM?

Just a thought you might try adding an account to WLM using the old address and password. I did this with my old account from my service provider then went to a Hotmail account.
Now admittedly it was still within WLM but worth a try.

What I will do is try and add my work account (Outlook) to my WLM and see if it works.

PS It added the account but I have to get the POP and STMP settings right first.

I'm trying to transfer my Windows Live Mail e-mail contacts to Hotmail. I've converted them all to a csv file (5.65kb). When I import them to Hotmail only the names get transferred.....not the e-mail addresses. Any ideas? Thanks

A:Export E-mail contacts from Windows Live Mail to Hotmail

Windows Live Mail is Hotmail, with a new look. So I am confused as to what you are trying to do.
It sounds like you created a whole new name for Windows Live Mail... you didn't need to do that.

If you just open Windows Live Mail and logon as the HotMail name you will see all of the contacts.

This thread was previously closed due to lack of answers, however I found a solution.

When importing a csv file into Hotmail, the email address field is expected as "E-mail Address" however in the csv file created by Windows Live Mail the email address field is "Email Address".

Note the missing hyphen. This means that the email address is not transferred over to Hotmail.

The solution is to edit the csv file using Notepad - simply add the hyphen to the top line of the csv file, save the file and import it into Hotmail.

If you have the same problem with other fields, a useful test to see what field names Hotmail expects is to export a contact from Hotmail and then inspect the csv file which is created using Notepad.

I installed Windows Live Mail over an existing Windows Mail on my Vista laptop and that went fine and I was able to import the old contacts. But now I want to export those same contacts to Windows Live Mail on another (XP) laptop but I can't find a way to do it. There doesn't seem to be any way to transfer, save, or backup Windows Live Mail contacts. I was thinking I should be able to save the file then copy it over my network to the other computer but I can't find it. Anyone know how to do this?

A:Export Windows Live Mail contacts??

From the lack of responses I have to conclude that there really is no easy way to transfer Windows Live Mail address book contacts from one computer to another?? Hard to believe.....

I did find one way... convert the old addresses in from Win Mail to a vcard format. But those can only be imported one at a time. Not a good option.

There HAS to be a better way, I hope....

Please note that this is not Windows Live (Hotmail) but the offline Windows application with that name. I find Windows Live Mail as a great way to manage my email, I want to manage my contacts there too. However, all my contacts are currently loaded on my iPhone (I have the contacts manually created on the phone a long time ago).

Thanks for your suggestions.

A:How to export iPhone contacts to Windows Live Mail?

If you want to directly export the contacts use a small application intended to run on your PC called CopyTrans Contacts.

1. Run the tool on your computer and connect your iPhone. You can download the program from here: export iPhone contacts

2. Once your iPhone contacts appear, drag and drop a selection to a folder on your PC

3. Select the type of contact files you wish your iPhone contacts to get exported in. Windows Live Mail recognizes Windows Contacts, so select that format

4. Your iPhone contacts will be saved to your PC. Now go to your Windows Live Mail application and import the contacts from the folder on your PC where you saved them in

I've given up fighting Windows Live Mail [the client-side version] many bugs and have moved on. But I need to get the Contacts, and then the folders/Messages. Every time I attempt a .CSV Export of the Contacts WLM crashes [hangs, spins up CPU, does not resolve itself]. Anyone know the cause or cure for this?

Failing a cure of this yet-another-bug, where is the Contacts store? Anyone know its file Extension? how to safely copy until I can figure out how to extract and use?

Apparently WLM does not like any copies of OE on a system... it monkeys with Outlook Express system files when it cranks up - I guess they share stuff under the hood?.. dunno. Attempts to get answers to these various issues on "Microsoft Answer" are time-wasted, in my experience.

We have a HP laptop, Windows 7 OS, and using Windows Live Mail (WLM). We cannot find our contacts list to delete some contacts. We did find it in Hotmail (which we don't use) and tried to delete them there but it did not work. The other laptop we have has WLM in it also but "contacts" folder is accessable in the WLM menu. How do we get the same access on the first? Are there two different versions of WLM? Both versions were down loaded from Internet.

A:Export/Import: Mail/Contacts From Outlook

It all depends on what e-mail program you are using. If you are using outlook then you want to copy your *.pst files and *.pab files. *.pab files is your personal address book. Hopefully you created a *.pst files, this is your personal folders. if not then you can either create one or export it. you can also export your calender too.

It seems that every day yet another name gets added to my contacts list (Windows Mail) and I'm not the guy adding them! What needs to be done to stop this?

A:Ever expanding e-mail contacts list.

Open Windows Mail, click on "tools," then "options." Click on the "send" tab and UNcheck the option that says "Automatically put people I reply to in my contacts list." Click "apply" then "ok."

I don't know if this will help - if you're not replying to the emails these people send, then something else is causing it, and I'm not sure what that would be.

Good luck!

Hi folks,

During the past few days I have been receiving spam E-mails which appear on first glance to come from people who are known to me (either in my contacts list or possibly people to whom I have previously sent E-mails or from whom I have previously received E-mails). The actual E-mail address behind the name is always some unknown hotmail address, and my spam filter correctly identifies these messages as spam.

My concern is that I have some malware on my computer which has picked out names from my contacts list (or from messages received or sent by me) and used those names (although not their real E-mail addresses) to make junk mail appear not to be junk. In other words, my computer appears to have been invaded/infected by something which has extracted and misused information from my computer. I would like to get rid of it!!!

Does anyone know what I've been infected with?

A:Spam E-mail Purportedly From People In My Contacts List

It could also be that someone you correspond with has the same addresses in common with you and their address book has been compromised. It is also possible you sent an email with addresses for several people in the "to" line instead of using the "bcc" line to hide the addresses you sent the email to. The first step to check if you have malware is to scan your computer. Below are two good programs to do that with. Install Super Antispyware. Run it in safe mode. Allow it to quarantine whatever it finds. http://www.superantispyware.com/Run the online scan for Bit Defender in normal mode. A:Unknown contacts show up in To: list for Yahoo Mail

Hello! It's possible that one of your know contacts has been hacked or yourself has been hacked. You should contact your email provided.
Your account has been compromised, Yahoo strongly suggests that you change your password NOW. Then it will stop. Run a virus scan. Alert your contacts not to click any links in the message because it is a virus/worm At one time someone sent you an infected email and they didn't know. Like those forward chain mails. It latched on to your contact list. I'm not sure if BC's malware team can help, but you are infecting other people and you need to get this fixed immediately.

I had my freind email a bunch of v card contacts to me from my old computer that I gave to him.

I loaded the contacts into my new computer and they work fine under my user account. By work fine I mean they appear when I click the "contacts" icon in Winodows Mail and when I click the "to:" icon when composing new mail.

Unfortunately the contacts do not show up under my fathers account. They appear when clicking the "contacts" icon but they do not show up when I click the "to:" icon when composing mail.

How do I get them to show up when clicking the to: icon in my fathers account?

A:Solved: Trouble with Windows Mail contacts

I guess I should have researched a a bit more before posting.

After I loaded the contacts onto my account I sent them via email to my dads account. After attaching the contacts then clicking send, I was asked If I wanted to change the contacts to vcards (apparently these are smaller then the format the contacts where originally sent to me in which was .csv) I did change them to vcards and windows apparently did not like this beacuase they did not appear in the Windows Mail.

I re-emailed them to him and this time did not change them to vcards (they still went through immediately) and now they work just fine in my fathers account.

I got instructions off Microsofts site on how to transfer my contacts list but it involved "the cloud" which I can't be bothered with, I want things on MY computer thank you! And I don't want an outlook.com account.

So using Windows explorer I went to the Windows Mail folder and double clicked a file (forgot the name now) it opened up the import files box (like other Windows incarnations has given us) and I selected import CSV file and directed the application to the flash drive upon which my 'old' CSV file was stored.

I noticed the WAB file, in the same folder, suddenly increased in size to 568k so obviously the import was successful, however on going into the Mail app, I'm told I have no contacts!

what has happened to them? And how do I import then - manually

I have upgraded my Computer from Vista and Windows live mail 2011 to Windows 7 and Windows live mail 2012.

Live Mail 2011 used as Contacts just the Vista Contacts.
Live Mail 2012 is having it's own Contacts which are not compatible with Windows 7 Contacts.

I found a way to import Windows 7 Contacts as Live Mail 2012 Contacts but no way to export it as .contact file again (export can be done as CSV or VCF file only).

Since I still want to synchronize my Windows 7 contacts with an old Vista Computer the Import is not a solution for me.

Hi Walter, welcome to Seven Forums.

Your best plan is to access your mail account directly, the use .csv format to export / import them into WLM 2012.

Hi andsome, I suggest getting a Windows Live ID by creating a Hotmail dot Com account, use it to sign in to Windows live Mail. Export your contacts in .csv format then import to new account. Now you will never lose them. If using other account/s, it/they can be added to WLM, use POP to access them if possible. You can delete the Hotmail account if you want.
P.S. I'm using WLM last release version of 2009, its far superior than the latest version. I have a copy if you want it.

Hi New Member here posting his first question, can you help please?

I wish to transfer the messages in my WLMail on my pc to my WLMail on my laptop.

I have already set up my email accounts on my laptop so just need advice on how to get the messages across.

Thank you in advance.

A:Windows Live Mail Export/Import

Windows Mail has an "export" function and you can save the file to Desktop, transfer to USB drive or CD/DVD and then "import" that file to the other computer.

This will work for Contacts and Mail, but I've not been able to get the Message Rules to transfer over easily.

However, I DID find the registry entries where the Message Rules are stored and I transfered those over, but WM ran VERY buggy afterwards, and I would not recommend trying it.
