Hi, I am gonna purchase the new Inspiron 17 5000 (5759). Just wondering if I am gonna change the battery in the future? How can I do that? Or we just can't change it? Thank you for your help!
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Please click on link below, hopefully it will be of help:
Inspiron 17 5759 Service Manual - page 14
it was my belief that a removable battery was (gasp!) removable whereas an intergated battery was not as it was a part of the laptop. however my "Inspiron 5759 17 Touch" which in its product page on your site is listed as having a integrated battery has a battery that i can remove. (note: realized this when i had to switch keyboards)
so my question is... what is the difference between a removable battery and an integrated battery?
and as a follow question... which do i have?
Thanks for writing to us.
Inspiron 17 has a removable battery.
Please provide us the link where you read the machine has integrated battery.
Bought my wife this computer for Christmas. Apparently Dell has combined the power indicator light/hard drive activity light/ and battery status light into one single light on the front edge of computer. My concern is that the light only comes on briefly when I first plug in the power supply, then it goes out and never lights again. Even when the hard drive is writing or reading the light doesn't come on to show activity. Is this normal? I'm concerned as this is one way I've used to determine if things are happening on my computer as they should be. If the light is not designed to show hard drive activity when it occurs, what use is it?
If you haven't found the answer to your question then this should help you.
Hold down the "Fn" key which is in between the Ctrl & Windows Key then press the "H" key. This action will be required each time you re-boot the computer.
what is the number of this part to find? will any m5yk1 work? I am confused.

I bought inspiron 5000 series laptop last year august ,from that day when battery decreases to 19% of charge it automatically shutdowns, without seeking any permission. Is there any changes to be made in the settings or it is a default case .
I lost my report due to this issue many times.
Please inform me if there is a way to avoid as soon as possible
Hey all, I have someones laptop that I cannot seem to get working.
Heres the scenario:
When plugged into the wall the computer works fine, and the battery shows that it is charging and is at 99%.
If I unplug it the computer will not boot up at all, even with the battery saying its fully charged in windows AND the LED indecator on the battery itself saying that it is full.
Now I read that some of these batteries have been recalled due to a defect, so im wondering:
A: Give me some suggestions on what I can do to get the battery working.
B: Try to get the battery replaced by dell via the recall, I checked the number on the battery and it qualifies for the recall, so this may be my whole problem. Clicky here for the link for recall
Anyways hope to hear from someone, im off to work so I'll check this tonight have a good day!
If your battery qualifies for the recall, DO IT!!!! And if the battery is displaying 99% when plugged in, and not moving up to 100% after 5-10 mins, then there is definately something wrong with the battery. You may want to run the battery calibration utility, which may reset that, but I would still go through with the recall and get a brand new battery....
I bought this Laptop for my Grandson for Christmas because it was on sale at a good price and I've had good luck with Dell.. Inspiron 17 5000 Series (5759). Windows® 7 Professional, 64-bit, English. (Includes Windows 10 Pro license)It came with Windows 7 Pro installed and a disc for Windows 10 Pro.The disc is labeled:. Operating System. Already installed on you computer. Windows 10 Pro. 64-bitIt's a good laptop and grandson wants Windows 10 (like his Dell desktop). Upgrading my older laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10 last summer with the free Microsoft online update was easy, but this has stumped me. I can't find any instructions for installing Win 10 and have been stuck as I try boot from the disc or run the disc from Windows 7. It would be embarrassing to tell the boy that I couldn't do the upgrade.I haven't been able to find any instructions searching online. I'd appreciate help or a link to directions.
Under Windows 7, insert the disc and kick of the installation from there. The system should then upgrade just fine. If that's not working, exactly what happens if you try (note that if you choose to have the installer search for updates, it can take quite some time with no apparent activity before the install continues -- even if you have a fast broadband connection, it can take well over an hour).Read other 1 answers
my laptop battery light is flashing orange. I'm running Windows10.
I checked the battery health meter and the battery is 100% charged and the meter indicates that it is functioning normally. The laptop is only a few months old.
I saw another post that suggested rebooting the laptop with the cable unplugged. I'going to try that next.
Does anyone have experience replacing the battery in an Inspiron 1521 laptop?
Is it better to buy a Dell battery or does it matter? As for chargers, it seems best to buy name brand from the same company.
I have had good luck with batteries from eBay and Amazon for $20-25. Don't go for a"genuine" Dell if the price is much lower than Dell's. These are usually reconditioned used counterfeits.Read other 3 answers
Recently....every time I turn on my laptop I get 5 beeps and the clock and date needs resetting. I think it's the internal battery that has probably gone flat.
Is a battery replacement going to mean me having to take the computer to bits to get to the battery? Any other tips that anyone has to get to the battery or anything to stops the beeps!
Many thanks indeed.
Usually a faulty CMOS battery won't produce beeps -- a faulty clock chip, however, will. Run the Dell diagnostics on the system (F12 at powerup). If you see an error relating to a bad system clock chip, it's the mainboard that will need to be replaced.
The CMOS battery is not even used if you have a charged, main battery in the system or the AC adapter is plugged in.
Changing the CMOS battery requires quite a bit of tear-down (removing the system board):
Well while running Dell's maintenance software it showed that my battery was failing hmm. I have never used the laptop w/o it being plugged into the Ac charger and when used probably under a hour a day. It was new in 2013.
Does anyone know how Dell determines how the status of a battery is? Perhaps its just how old the battery is? I doubt that Dell's software actually has a Volt/Amp load tested built into the laptop??
With that all said if I do have to buy a battery who would handle the best bang for the buck? I see that the prices are all over the place ;-)
<H3>The power cord for my laptop is working intermittently. The end of the wire that that goes into the plug in the back of the laptop is frayed. It has to be in just the right position for the cord to work.
Can I use the power cord/battery charger for my other Dell laptop (a vostro 1500 or a Inspiron 6000)?
If I purchase a new cord is there a generic type that is good with multiple dell laptops?
Any suggestion on what and where to purchase?
You might be able to buy a generic cord, just be sure to get the same wattage/volt as the original. Our granddaughter's boyfriend had the cord to his new computer get cut in the mechanism of a recliner and I was able to order a new one for him on ebay for about $25.00, a year or so ago.
I haven't done a search site here, but it seem like a few months ago one of the moderators (I think John Will) gave instructions as to how to repair a cord.
My Dell Inspiron 3542 that was purchased back in Sept-2014 battery died on August 2016. This is the first time I've noticed such a short life span of any battery in my last 4 laptops so far.
Is there any way to fix the issue or should I replace the battery with a new set. And, I would like to know what is the expected battery duration in particularly Dell Inspiron 3500 model laptops.
Hello friends,This is Jez, I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays.I need to get a replacement laptop battery for my Dad, he has a Dell Inspiron 5347 laptop. The Dell website has the following batteries listed http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/category/ar/7686Here are some pics of the original battery which came with the laptop.
The primary use for the battery will be for use when there is no power plug easily available, e.g. in the car, at a crowded coffee shop etc.So, about 80% of the use will be with the power outlet. What is the issue with the current battery? Please write a detailed description of the issue, so we could isolate the source.
If you are sure the issue is with the battery, then it needs to be replaced. However, we would not recommend using non Dell batteries on the system, as they might exhibit other issues.

Hi, please can you let me know how I go about ordering a replacement LCD Panel for my Inspiron 5759 with a full HD, non-touch panel ( 1920x1080 ).
I've got a couple of scratches on the panel and would like to replace it myself but unsure how/what spare to order. I'm in the UK if that helps.
Thanks in advance,
The best way to proceed is to order the exact screen you have now (the Dell part number is on the back of the panel itself).
There is a set of Dell part numbers for screens here as well.

My Dell laptop will charge and operate for several hours off a new 6000 MAh battery but the icon in the tray inidcates that it is always on line power. Although both the CD and floppy drive work when installed in a bay the system not indicate that they are present. I have updated the bios from Dell but that does not help. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Still under warranty, isn't it? Call Dell for a repair trip.
Can someone help me with this problem? So I just received my brand new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 and the battery is not charging. It says it's "Plugged In, Charging" but it never goes up and stays at 0%. At first I thought I just need to plug it in for several hours but it's been 5 hours now and still the battery stays at 0%. I tried running the BIOS Diagnostics just to see if there are problems and there's none. The battery status says everything is running normally and the Battery State says it's Idle. I tried draining the flea power several times, removing and reattaching the battery, but to no avail. I'm getting really frustrated and I'm really close to throwing this laptop back to Dell.
I read somewhere that I have to update the BIOS but it won't update unless the battery is charged at least 10%. Someone also suggested that Windows 8.1 is causing the problem. I haven't even started using this laptop and it's already giving me a *** ton of problems. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys! :)
I'm having dell inspiron 3521 laptop. My battery is 4 cell (40WAh) and recently it was permanently failed. So, i decided to replace it with new one. The question is if i replace my 4 cell battery with 6 cell battery, will it leads to any problems? Can some one please help me to resolve this.
Thanks in advance.
As long as the battery is otherwise compatible -- and you realize it will increase the weight AND the size of the notebook (while the 4-cell likely fits entirely inside the system, the 6-cell will protrude from the back of the system), you will be fine. There's also a big reason (safety among them) why OEM batteries cost more than third-party knockoff units, if that's a consideration.Read other 1 answers

I have to replace the battery on a toshiba L355-S7915 laptop. Which battery is better? The Toshiba battery or the B-5040H from battery-biz. anyone use battery biz?
Could you provide links?
I think with batteries the big thing is Watt/Hours. (Don't quote me on that tho)
You might be better off using the same battery as the one you had before, simply for the sake of reliability.
It also will depend on what you use this laptop for.
After my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."
Shockingly none worked that I found.
Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.
A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.
To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)
Worked with an off brand battery also.
Many times this has saved many computers that have odd "unsolvable" things wrong with them.
Surely someone else has done this also but I haven't seen it posted anywhere to my knowledge.
Thank GOD for bringing the idea to remembrance!
Do you have any information on how this fixes the battery problem? would be interested to know.
Good Morning everyone.
I recentally bought an acer aspire 5000 laptop on craigslist to replace my macbook that was stolen from the coffee shop... looked for another macbook but couldn't find any reasonably priced so decided to give windows 7 a try. it has windows 7 professional installed. 1.8 amd turion 64 processor and 2 gb ram. it needed a battery so i got a new one thru amazon. installed the new battery, charged it until indicator turned green. my question is is 2 2 hours and 10 minutes reasonable battery life or do i need to calibrate the battery monitor? new battery has been installed for almost 2 weeks. my macbook got almost 4 hours on a charge...
That is normal if you are have power settings to high performance on battery. if you have power settings to power saver mode, then it is a little short of life.Read other 4 answers
! I purchased a Dell 5759 just a few months ago from Amazon. Since its purchase, the battery randomly cuts out at intervals of every few to several days with no triggering events. I attempted to seek help a few times but apparently my service tag and express service code cannot be recognized by the system. I've tried calling the Inpsiron help number, but for better or worse, the call is disconnected when my numbers cannot be recognized.
Now I get a Dell Power Management error that the system can no longer communicate with my battery. It has ceased functioning en toto. Without being able to register, I cannot get help for this issue, but when I go to email any kind of technical support, the Service Tag or Service Code are the gateway to having access to submitting a ticket.
I'm not sure what else to do at this point. This is a perfectly fine otherwise smooth running computer but I need the battery to work and not cut out at random intervals. Any ideas would be appreciated.

My sister's computer battery was going bad, so she went and replaced it herself. It's the simple, flat battery, just pop it out, put the new one in. She also bought a new DVD drive, so she unplugged the old one and took it out. That's all she did. And made sure she didn't shock/fry the motherboard.
Now, when you turn it on, it never boots up. It will run and the monitor will display a screen that shows that it's on, but Windows never loads. I tried putting the old DVD drive back in, the old battery back in, but it's still not working. Any ideas what might be causing this? I really don't want to tear it all apart at this point.

That should be OK. Since most batteries on Laptops are designed specifically to PHYSICALLY FIT the diverse shapes, I would be surprised if you could get a poor one providing you steer clear of the "cheap Chinese knock offs".
