I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all!

I just got a Rosewill HDD docking station R309 to pair with my backup drive, a Western Digital 1T. The drive was working in my desktop as a backup, I gave the PC to my son, and took out the back up, It's got all my music and photos on it plus other stuff.

Windows 10 doesn't recognize the drive. I have everything correctly connected, all lights light up, so all connections are tight. I checked for it in Device Manager, and it shows up there under my laptop's hard drive as working properly. So I went to Disk Management and it shows up as Disk 1 and again as working properly.

A box popped up to say I have to initialize the disk before Windows will deal with it. Then it recommends a GPT.
If I go ahead with this, will it wipe out all my stuff from my hard drive? It'll kill me if I have to lose all my pictures. The rest of the stuff I have backed up on DVDs or CDs. My pictures are only partially backed up as at the time, I was having trouble with my DVD burner. A network transfer didn't work between a PC running Win 8.1 and my laptop running 10. So I gave up for the time being so my son could use the PC.

I'm trying to do this on my own without bothering my boys. If anyone can guide me through this, I'd be so happy and grateful and most truly appreciative! Please bear in mind I am 65 years old, and while certainly not PC illiterate, things like this I am new at. So some patient empathy is always doubly appreciated!

A:Windows 10 doesn't recognize my new HDD docking station

Make sure you are using the Rosewill power adapter when using the Dock, and plug it directly into the wall socket and not a power strip or surge protector as this diminishes the power.
Be sure you are plugging the USB cable into the Back USB port (desktop) not the front or thru a Hub as these ports are weaker. If Disk Management still wants to initialize, then you can try and recover your files by using the Free TestDisk program. I have had the best luck with GetDataBack. you will need another drive of the same size or larger to restore your files to. BTW age is just a thing, I'm 63.

Hi, I read a lot of threads and tech dunce like myself is a bit overwhelmed. So please talk to me like i am a golden doodle  A week ago, I purchased the following:https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/700-series/Yoga-720-12/p/88YG7000919i7 processor and 8 gig RAM I need a docking station recommendation for the following set up. 1. I am planning to buy a Tiny series desktop from Lenovo. This will be my at home stationary workstation.2. The link above is my mobile laptop as I commute in and out of NYC I need a powerful docking station which can take both the Tiny and the Yoga at the same time. Ideally, the tiny stays put forever and the yoga gets plugged in and out. And I am planning to deploy three monitors or if it is too complex, two.  So when both laptop and tiny desktop are docked, I want to be able to share the mouse, keyboard and the dual/triad monitors between both devices. I'm assuming there is a control which helps you shift from one device to another. Please recommend a docking station for this.

I have P50 that I use with the 40A50230US docking station. I love the thing but I can't get my headphones to work in  the "1x Stereo/Mic Combo Audio Port" on the docking station. The headphones work fine in the headphone jack of the laptop. My expectation is that pluging headphones into the docking station and docking the laptop in the dock, the sound would automatically come through the dock and disconnect the speakers on the laptop.  Instead, the sounds continues to play through the laptop speakers and the headphones are silent. Any help will be greatly appreciated. John

Any ideas????

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop and OS is Windows XP Pro 2002 (SP2). Sound is great when I don't have the docking station (Kensington Notebook Dock), but there is no sound at all when I do use it.

I've tried looking through my computer/properties/hardware/device manager, but a) I'm not sure in I'm in the right place and b) if I am, I can't see the wood for the trees....

A:Solved: Sound on laptop doesn't work when I use docking station...

Most of these all in one dockingstations (ones not made for a specific brand and that connect to anything) kind of take over the Laptops functions what you need to do is disable the kensington audio drivers as when you attach the docking station these drivers try and replace the notebooks ones.

What you want to do is look at the device manager with the dockingstation unpluged then plug it in and see what audio devices it loads up and disable them.

Either that or write/look ionline with kensington and get a list of them.

Hello, I'm an independent Software Developer and a new project required to buy a new notebook. Because I depend hardly on it I decided to buy one of the best I could find - I really can't afford any computer issues. So I ordered on 21 July a custom build Lenovo X1 Extreme Gen1. Unfortunately the notebook arrived DOA (could not be charged via power supply). I returned it immediately but still had to wait till 19. September to receive a replacement unit. This very long delay had a big drawback on my work. The new notebook seems to work good and I really like it. So I decided to order a Docking Station because I need 3 extern monitors, Lan cable etc.I ordered the ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 Workstation Dock 230W (40AN0230EU). I connected both power supplies (230W AND 65W) and connected the Docking Station to the X1 Extreme. 3 Monitors worked well but the Notbook will not charge via Docking Station (but it charges using the notebook power supply). I got the Windows message that not enough power is delivered to the notebook. I installed the new Firmware (3.1.64) to the Dock and all new drivers, Firmware and Bios to the Notebook. Again I called the Lenovo Support. They sent me a new Docking station (without cables and power suplies ?!?). Still the same issue.Because the issue could be caused by a damaged power supply I returned the first ordered Docking Station to the vendor and purchased a new one from another vendor. Still the same issue...... Read more

I am switching from a Yoga 730 to 740 machine. With my older Yoga, I used a Thinkad USB-C dock that supplied power, drove two monitors and handled audio and a couple USB connections through the USB-C port. With the new machine, the audio portion fails after the machine is up and running for a while. If I go into device manager, there is a Unknown USB device with the error logo and the message "A request for the USB device descriptor failed". I can delete the device and reboot and it doesn't come back. Play audio for a while and at some point, the sequence will reoccur. Lenovo says it is not compatible. Anyone using a USB-C dock on the 740 that can handle power, two monitors (preferably HDMI) and audio output? If so, what make/model are you using?

Only putting the laptop to sleep and back will fix it.when docking (and regardless if power is off or on) one of either the laptops main display or my secondary monitor will not work. Sometimes restarting the machine will work, and sometimes it will not.when docked, i have a MS wireless keyboard and mouse plugged into the dock. on occassion, they will loose connection with the computer. Unplugging the dongle and plugging it back in will resume operation but it will eventually cut out again. Only moving the dongle to a usb port on the laptop itself will resolve the issue. A:Lenovo Docking Station Problems (W series)

Your employer is going to let you return their supplied laptop for a refund or replacement from another brand for a unit that I am guessing you have used for more than half a year? o.0 On topic, Do you have any issues with the laptop itself when it is undocked?  From the sounds of it all problems appear to be docking related, so assuming the dock connector/port is free of all detrius that might cause issues, would suggest using the warranty to replace the dock as that certainly sounds to be the focal point of all your issues.

A:Satellite Click 2 Pro P30W-B - Docking station battery doesn't charge

Hmm… if this issue didn’t appear from first day of purchase, then the battery docking issue might be related to battery fault.
In such case you will need to contact the service to fix it.

But just one question: is your BIOS up to date?
Check the update within the service station and in case of available new BIOS version; try to update the BIOS to the latest state.

I have an HP Elitebook 850 and an HP 2013 Ultraslim Docking Station.  I've been using them for over a year with dual 27" WQHD monitors (2560x1440) through the dual displayport connections on the back of the docking station. I recently upgraded to a 32" BenQ UHD (4K) monitor, and while it works perfect if I connect the DisplayPort cable directly to my laptop, I am having problems getting it to display anything when connected through the docking station. This problem makes it so I can't use the docking station and the new monitor together. Some more details:- Running Windows 7 x64- When monitor & laptop are connected to docking station, Windows recognizes the 4K monitor is there, but won't display anything on it (monitor thinks there is no input). I undock and connect to the laptop directly and it recognizes/displays instantly.- I've tried docking port firmware version 2.27 (what I had originally - SoftPaq#71104) and 2.30 (SoftPaq#75855). Both were downloaded through the "HP SoftPaq Download Manager". And yes, I undocked/unplugged/rebooted/etc in between with no difference in result.- I've tried configuring the monitor with every different resolution from 800x600 all the way to 4K - none of them get anything displayed if it's connected through the docking port (but all work fine if connected directly to the laptop). I'm at my wits end here - How can I get the docking station to work with my new monitor?

Hello, I am starting a new job where I will b working from home. Before my orientation, I purchased two monitors for my home office. I am currently at my orientation for this week and was just provided my work laptop (ThinkPad T460). My question is: what docking station or stations are available for me to purchase where I can plug my two monitors into the station and be able to use both the monitors AND laptop at the same time. I am not the most techy person, so you may have to dumb down your responses. I've read several reviews on Lenovo docking stations and some people are saying their monitors will only work with the laptop shut or if the laptop is open then only one of the monitors will work. I want both monitors AND the laptop to be able to be used at the same time. Are you able to point me in the right direction to the right docking station or docking stations that would allow me to accomplish this for my home office? Thank you very much in advance!

Hello community, I have a problem with my T580. It is 4 months old, and I use it on my office desk with 2 monitors (the lid is closed) in the 95% of the time. This is the 2nd time now, when I take it home, switch on, but the backlight is not working. I have to use a torchlight to be able to log in. The attached monitor is working after the log-in, but the display is blank. Last time it fixed the problem, when I attached the USB stick of my Plantronics headset. Now it doesn't work. I'll try to attach the docking station later, but I have to pick it up from the office. Is this a known problem in the community, or am I the "lucky one"?

According to https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/docksSearch/ the Lenovo T480 20L6 laptop is compatible with the ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station. However the docking station uses an entirely different power supply than the laptop (the old blocky rectangular one vs the newer mini rounded rectangle). The laptop itself fits on the docking station, but does not charge despite the docking station being plugged in. There are two connector slots on the dock that appear to be for the newer power supply, however neither of those provide power either. Is the docking station incorrectly listed as compatible when it really isn't, is there a hardware malfunction, or something else entirely?

There is no right choice for everyone.  I will say that right now, I am using a ThinkVision X1 (4k) and it looks really good to me.  I really like the sharp text.  The speakers aren't great, which is common for thin monitors.  The viewing angles are good.  I removed the stand and am using a VESA-mounted stand, which I like.

Hi, I've got a few clients with new Lenovo E-480s and USBC docking station that are having a lot of problems.  Wifi, monitor issues, general performance quality, etc.  After trying bios updates and new drivers I'm still having problems.  I thought to look at the power supplies and have a new question. Docking stations are dk1522.  Power brick for those are model ADLX45NDC2APower brick for laptop is model ADLX65YLC2AThe brick that comes with the laptop is a 65 watt brick.   20v at 3.25aThe brick that comes with the docking station is a 45 watt brick 20v at 2.25a I suspect insufficient wattage is my problem.  Can someone confirm compatibility?  Thank you

Hello, I'm trying to connect 3 or possibly 4 monitors to my lenovo docking station. The way I've set it up now utilizes 2 monitors + my laptop screen which is duplicated by monitor 2. I want to use 3 monitors, but I do not know how to make this work. I've tried: HDMI on monitor 1 to the HDMI on the side of the machine.HDMI on monitor 2 to the HDMI on the back of the dock.VGA on monitor 3 to the VGA on the back of the dock. I've also tried using HDMI on monitor 1 to HDMI/Displayport converter on the back of the dock. Nothing works. Any ideas? Best regardsEmil

Also, I do not have a monitor that has a displayport connector, so I have to use an adapter.
