Preferred Solution: Important Update for Adobe Flash in IE 10!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My nest cam windows have "Get Adobe Flash Player" right in the center. I have updated the flash player repeatedly and still the annoying reminder reappears. This occurs on the Chrome browser, but not the Safari browser. Maybe it's time for browser writers to abandon Adobe Flash Player and do it the way Safari does it.

A:Fake Adobe Flash update and Chrome update

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.

It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.

Before we begin, please note the following:

I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
The logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me.
Stay with the topic until I tell you that your system is clean. Missing symptoms does not mean that everything is okay.

Please do not run any tools until requested ! The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.
Please perform all steps in the order received. If you can't understand something don't hesitate to ask.
Again I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. I will not help you if you do not follow my instructions.

Everytime I visit a site that uses Adobe Flash, it tells me I need to update to the latest version.. I download and re-install, and it works for awhile.. But eventually it asks me to update to the latest version again.. I keep updating to the same version, there is nothing new.. Why does it keep asking me to update, when I have the latest version?

A:Adobe Flash keeps asking to update

Try downloading, and running the latest stand alone Flash Uninstaller: |MG| Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller Download

Then do the same with the latest Flash version:
IE - Download Flash Player (IE) - FileHippo.com
Non IE - Download Flash Player (Non-IE) - FileHippo.com

Then once you have done this, go to: control panel > Flash Player and in the flash settings, select "don't look for updates to flash". If you do this, you'll be responsible for checking for flash updates every so often yourself. You can do that be bookmarking this site: Adobe - Flash Player

So, according to Firefox's status on my addons currently installed, I had updates for the following:

Shockwave for Director
Shockwave Flash

So, I went and downloaded and installed both versions of Java, updated fine. I downloaded the latest installer for "Shockwave for Director" and it installed fine, yet the addon page still thinks it needs updated.

Now, here's the problem, which has been going on for a while, which I have been unable to fix.

Whenever I get the latest installer (I have 6 copies of it now) for Flash from Adobe's website, and run it.. after allowing it access via the prompt, the process proceeds to sit in the background and do nothing. No GUI appears or anything.

I've sat and waited for it. Nothing happens, except the process eventually disappears. I really have no idea when this started to happen, as I used to updated Flash whenever it said it needed it (usually when I'd start the PC up, Adobe would pop up with its little gray window saying an update was available, so I would update it then, and all was well).

Now, however, it seems I'm unable to do so. Of course, I've run all the preliminary scans to make sure it's not malware-related, and it isn't. Something, for some reason, is just preventing the GUI from appearing.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this, or an alternative method of installation that may work?

Sometimes I've been getting the Adobe Flash Update Pop-ups once in a while. I ran antivirus scans, hitmanpro, etc. I ran Farbar and I pasted the Addition.txt and FRST.txt
Thank You for the support
PS: This only happened 3 times this week, on Chrome and IE.
Before I also installed a game called Wizzard101, but during the set-up, a strange popup came granting permission to modify changes to my PC. I clicked no, then immediately uninstalled the game using Revo Uninstaller. I ran some scans with McAfee, HitmanPro, MalwareBytes etc but everything was fine.

A:Sometimes getting Adobe Flash Update Pop-Up

Sometimes this can be a fake prompt to install malware. Does it happen only when you seem to be browsing the internet or on a  web site?
You can visit the Adobe page and see if your version is the latest.

Adobe appears to have released a Flash player update. Here's the full version download link: Download Flash player you can download the helper version from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ The difference between the two is that with the latter, you'll only be downloading a helper file which when run, will perform the update over the Internet. The full version can be installed locally offline. If you didn't disable the auto-updater which is a new feature in version, you should have received the latest version automatically already. To check, hit CTRL+SHIFT+A in Firefox to get the "Add-ons" menu and then open the "Plugins" submenu. Or in IE, go to "Tools" | "Manage Add-ons" and set the left hand dropdown menu to "Run without permission". There doesn't appear to be a Adobe security bulletin for the latest version, so you might want to postpone updating until more details emerge.

A:Best way to Update Adobe Flash Player

Each browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome) uses its own version of flash player.
For Chrome, it's embedded, the "PPAPI" version.
For Firefox, it's the "NPAPI" (Plug-In) version.
For IE under Win7, it's the "ActiveX" version.
The latter 2 must be installed separately.

First step will be to UNINSTALL the older versions, as they are a huge security risk.

To uninstall for eligible browsers, first download the uninstaller from this link, then CLOSE the browsers (important!), then run the uninstaller tool:

Uninstall Flash Player for Windows

For Flash Player for Firefox and similar browsers, you would need to separately download and install it from within Firefox from here:

Adobe Flash Player download

You can do the same by browsing to the same page using IE, to get the ActiveX version for IE.

OR, manual downloads of the different versions are here:

Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions

To test each browser to see if you have the current version, you would need to try this website separately for each browser:

Adobe - Flash Player

I didn't install KB3087916 becaue of the reported problems but see today that I'm being offered 2 Flash player updates. One is the original KB3087916 and the other KB3089023.

Is the later update simply to correct the first ? or should I install just the new offering ?

(Getting seriously annoyed with all these updates and problems caused by updates of late. One reason I'm not going the W10 route with its forced updates)

A:New Adobe Flash Update. Do I need BOTH these updates ?

Windows Update kb3087916 [August] is installing the DEBUG version of Flash ActiveX into IE11 on (32-bit) Windows 8.1 systems.
The issue has been resolved by the release of kb3089023https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3089023

I have been struggling with KB3087916 since yesterday. Installation will fail. ( Alongwith this two other updates KB3004365 and KB 3060716 also failed to install) I tried repeatedly and these three failed to install repeatedly. Only this morning I saw the above thread and tried Windows update again. Alongwith the three failed updates there was this kb3089023 plus two or three new updates.and all updates except the kb3087916 installed successfully.

kb3087916 is still showing up in Windows update. I don't know why. I have just hidden it. Microsoft sucks.

Hello BC's.

So the situation is that my dad was sitting on his PC (Windows 7, 64-bit). Suddenly the "Microsoft Update Shield" pops up from the processline (the one down the bottom with all the icons - bare with me, I am an Apple dude :-)) saying that a new update is available for Adobe Flash Player. He clicks ignore 3-4 times but it is persistent and keeps popping up until he clicks okay. The update looks legit while updating. After installing it says that the update is not the newest and it supplies a link for something called Adobe Update Center to download the latest update. He does not click the link. He then notices that Microsoft Security Essentials has been deactivated and it is not possible to turn it back on ("The service is not available").

I have found similar topics for this problem;

But I am in doubt if I should just go ahead with the steps specified in those topics.

Hello everyone. Today, I was using google, and after reading an article in one of the search results, a security notice from windows 7 popped up saying that adobe flash player wanted to update. I pressed "no", and it came back up less than a second later. I finally gave in and let it do it's thing; and when it did, malewarebytes came up with a notice to quarentine a trojan. I did that, and checked the task manager. I saw an unfamiliar process running, and ended it. I then performed a full scan with Malewarebytes, and it found 7 items. It told me to restart my PC, so I did. When it came back on, I saw that an update to adobe flash was available, and all of my desktop icons were organized completely differently. I clicked on remind me later (as if I'd update flash after what I just encountered). Everything seems to be in order, but my computer feels a wee mite sluggish, and I'd like to be sure I got rid of everything. Here is the log for what was removed, maybe you guys could work off that? I can provide more info if needed. Again, I just would like your opinion(s) on if I have this all removed, if my computer is ok,an answer to the moved desktop icons if possible, and maybe a guide for the removal of this virus if it is still in my PC if any of you kno... Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.

Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.

A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the ... I'm running Avast now. Can someone help me make sure my computer is okay?

A:Security update available for Adobe Flash Player

Thanks Union_Thug I do not think, you have to uninstall them first, Just download and install latest version. I prefer to download such browser plugins from FileHippo.Strangely, the Mozilla Plugins Check service (for all browsers) is showing Flash as Up-to-date! This is wrong and misleading. I hope they update and correct it soon.

in the event viewer, I've noted entire strings of adobe flash trying to check for updates, even though I've set it to not check for updates, given the problem plagued release.

any ideas how I can actually disable flash's updater completely?
