Replacement Power Cable/brick for Yoga 710-15IKB

Q: Replacement Power Cable/brick for Yoga 710-15IKB

Hi friends! The power cable/adapter/brick on my 710-15IKB is starting to go. Has anyone bought a replacement that they really like? I'm always skeptical of buying a replacement power adapter on eBay, since you don't really know who made it. I'll pay more for a good one that I know won't fry my machine. Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last week I spilled drop of coffee+milk on my trackpad and it stopped working properly (I know you think I must have actually dropped a gallon but I asked my friend to come over and open my laptop with me and after we opened it, he couldn't see anything -- he was skeptical that I had dropped any liquid whatsoever, so, yeah, it was a drop of milk+coffee on the wrong place..). The pointer was behaving erraticatly and my friend and I, not tech savvy but rational ppl, figured that it must have short-circuited. So I went to ebay and order a replacemente part. The trackpad came with the keyboard + palmrest. The trackpad seemed to be a perfect match. The palmrest was a little bit different. My laptop has the fingerprint reader but the one I ordered didn't have. I thought it wouldn't make any difference since I only wanted the trackpad. The replacement arrived. I swapped the trackpad, made sure all cables were connected (there's actually only one but you got the point), closed my laptop, turned it on and... the trackpad was still not working.  Does anyone have any idea of what I should do next? I took a closer look on the letters and numbers I found on the trackpad and compared the original with the replacement and there's one or two numbers/letters that are different but they are otherwise identical. I can't make sense of why it didn't work and can't think of what to do next. I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thanks,

Hi, I just got my ideapad 210 today and was wondering if it is possible to get a regular laptop charger for it. The one supllied with the machine is very short and the powerpack unit attached to the plug is incredibly bulky. Very poor design feature. I have looked online and can only find similar power supply units.I have had issues with 3rd party power supplies in the past and I was wondering if Lenovo produce a more 'old fashioned' but useful power cable?

(Just posting this here so people in the future can find it.) I replaced my motherboard and just wanted to leave this here for future reference to some poor soul who has to do the same.
If you replace the motherboard on your Dell Studio XPS 8000, (service tag 3L8DHK1) and you need a new motherboard you can use an INTEL DQ57TM, it's compatible and I did a successful transplant. Your processor is an INTEL Core-i5 750 CPU 2.67GHZ it uses a SOCKET LGA1156. It uses DDR3 memory.
Once you take out your old motherboard and disconnect all those usb and audio wires and the power button wires. To hook up your USB front jacks, audio jacks etc.... here's which blocks go where:
Wires from the audio jacks and usb ports go into these colored block connectors, and those connectors get plugged into those little rows of pins/jumpers called Internal Headers. Every motherboard manual tells you about them. Grab the manual for your new motherboard and it'll tell you where your audio1, usb1, usb2, usb3, usb4 Header connectors are they look like 2 rows and 5 collumns of short little pins. (They almost always have 1 or 2 pins missing on purpose.)
the wires leading to a YELLOW BLOCK gets plugged into the audio1 header on your new motherboard, it's for audio jacks on top of the computer
wires with the WHITE BLOCK gets plugged into the usb3 headers on your motherboard (they are for the usb jacks on the very top of the computer tower)
wires with the GREEN BLOCK gets plugged into ... Read more

My Yoga S1 has contradictory, intermittent power issues that I'm trying to chase down. Culprits are bad power bric/cord/plug or power socket on mother board or power board that feeds into power button/led on. One day it blacked out and wouldn't restart to hard drive or windows stage. I did get an error code which I can't remember 5100 or 5500 poss?, that seemed to indicate the power board or ribbons to that needed replacement or re-attachment. So fiddled with it and it did fire up in windows all ok. Then ran out of power and died again. power button wouldn't light up. plugging in power unit did light up led as getting charge. Left it overnight and then it miraculously charged up. pushed power button light up twice then nothing. took out power board/detached ribbon, then it fired up to windows, fixed some hd errors and has been restarting without problems. Except now there is no plug showing on battery icon when plugged in. So not recharging but I'm sure the battery is good. And logically, the power brick and plug must be feeding electricity into laptop to get it to recharge enough to start up. So power socket and plug may be suspect with intermittent contact problems. Or the power board somehow is involved in this? I've ordered a new powerboard as easy screw in and cheap. My question about powerboard is does this control ability of plug to charge battery? power brick with new plug is next order from ebay. but the power socket, which see... Hi ABSTRACTED,

Greetings.

The ones with higher amperage would offer faster charging but may heat up faster.

It is advised to stay with the same charger that goes with your machine and have known to work for you. It would be better specially if you are not receiveing any message prompt about any need for more power from the system.

Hope this helps answer your query.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

I am assuming that you have the C540 model?  If there are no labels with the model number on the outside, the first page of the BIOS Setup screen will list the model number.

In doing a quick search on the Internet using the part numbers I found two U.S. sellers with the cable.  They are available, but pricey.  Here are the two I found......

 http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-HDD-Cable-90202107/dp/B00M25HRSY

There was also a previous discussion concerning the C540 and this cable.  Some users made their own using using a plain SATA cable.  Here is that discussion....

Hi, My son's Yoga 700-14 2-in1 has developed an unreliable power connection - the USB connector has to be positioned at a very precise angle for the battery to charge.   (For some reason, it's worst when the battery is <20% charged and becomes more tolerant when the battery is fuller - seems wierd but pretty sure it's not my imagination.) Both the cable and the male connector for the supply seem to be in good condition.   There's nothing visibly wrong with the dc port inside the laptop (hard to see but in torch light all pins look intact and not bent), however, I suspect this might be the problem and needs replacing (perhaps a loose internal connection). Has anyone else encountered this problem or done this repair?  It looks easy enough based on photos of the internals - the wiring isn't buried under any other components. Is there a quicker fix that I'm missing?  I guess I'll check some voltages with a meter and that there are no loose connections before ordering a new part. Thanks Stuart

Does anybody know where I can get a replacement power adapter for a Lenovo Yoga 2 11? According to the manual, it should be 45W. It appears that neither the original nor any approve substitutes that are listed on the Lenovo site are available for purchase from Lenovo.  I tried to buy one online but ended up giving my money to an overseas scammer. There seems to be a facsimile available in the States, but reviews say that it is a fire hazard and wrecks computers. Hi there,  I am a new user of a Yoga 530 and was wondering if there is a possibility to charge the device with a powerbank? I know that the USB-C ports are not capable of charging the laptop and that the laptop needs to be charged via the small round plug (sry I don't know the technical terms). The question is rather whether there is a power cable available that has a USB plug on the "non-laptop" side so I can then plug that into my powerbank (or a USB charging station)? Hopefully, the question is understandable. Thaks for any help!

A:Yoga 530 Power cable adapter available?

Short answer is no. The USB Type A ports on power banks, et al, deliver 5V at around 1 or 2A. Your 530's slim-tip charging port is looking for Around 20 volts (I don't have the exact voltage available, offhand, but it'll be listed on the charger that came with the computer). Creating a USB to slim-tip cable could damage both the computer and the power bank.

Here is an article featuring several power banks that might provide the necessary voltage and current. As I haven't tried any of them, I can't say for sure, but if you're very careful to match voltage, current and connector polarity, you should be able to find one that suits your needs.

Hello, the USB power cable is very short. Almost as short as the Macbook air cable but the Lenovo does not bring the prolonger. What should I do to have a longer cable or how can I prolong the cable? Thank Youg.

A:Yoga 900 - very short power cable

Good day.

A number of folks have commented that they would like a longer reach with the cabling.
What I've personally done is to get a short, inexpensive extension cord that I plug the power block into, and then plug that cord into the wall receptacle. This arrangement mimics, in some ways, the design used on other Lenovo laptops.

Hope this helps a bit.

A:Dell Inspiron 15 5547 DC Power Jack Socket Port and Cable - replacement part in UK???

Hi JS246 ,
What is the exact issue on the system? Have you checked with another Dell OEM power adapter? Is the current adapter working fine? Is the adapter frayed?
If you have isolated the source to be indeed the dc power cable, then assuming there is no warranty on the machine, you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
If you are looking to replace the parts yourself, then you could contact a 3rd party Dell parts seller - http://bit.ly/28SYFVc- they ship parts to UK. Or check on Amazon UK - http://amzn.to/28QNXQ0
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

On the power adapter for my new T460 the power cord only goes into the AC brick about 3/8" before it bottoms out.  Another 3/8" of the "skinny" part of the power cord plug is still outside the power brick. As a result, the power cord falls out of the brick at the slightest tug, pull or twist. I'm seriously afraid that one day I'll find I've lost the power cord half of the power supply. Why was the recessed part of the power brick made so shallow?  If the full 3/4" of the power adapter plug was allowed to be inserted into the power brick this problem would not happen. Anyone have a solution, other than buying a 3rd party power supply?

Hello Community! Yesterday i tried to update the BIOS of my Thinkpad P40 Yoga, as suggested by the Lenovo Solution Center. Unfortunately it crashed and now the laptop seems useless... The system was shutting down, after i confirmed to start the BIOS update, the Screen went black and never turned on again. I waited 30 minutes or so but nothing changed. I turned it off and on again. The LEDs light up, the fan starts rotating, quickly turns off, i can turn the keyboard lighting on and off, but the screen shows no sign of life. I read the problem could be, that i had some external usb devices plugged in while doing the update, who knows. I already disconnected the CMOS battery, waited for 3 hours, reconnected it, but nothing changed. Since the warranty is outdated, asking the Lenovo Support is only the last option. Is there any way to reset the BIOS that can be done by myself? I read about some ways to do that on different mainboards, but how does it work on a P40? I am looking forward to your suggestions!  Matthias

I have recently bought a Video Card for my computer I have a Hp Elite 8200 ultra-slim desktop, the video card was a cheap ATI Radeon 5450 (512 mb). I currently have a 135 Watt power brick, more of a Laptop charger, i did some research on how much watts I would need for the graphics card and people were saying I would need at least 300+ Watts. I was looking around online for anything with 300 watts or more and I couldn't find anything, does one even exists?

A:Help finding a power BRICK

There are not any 300 Watt power adapters available for an ultra slim desktop.  It is, in the case of sapphiretech, who makes HD5450 cards, a suggestion, rather than a requirement. http://www.sapphiretech.com/productdetial.asp?pid=E2B498B5-6369-4776-80D7-8B0F9DA410A2&lang=eng  It is usually not a requirement because the cards draw so little current from the slot. What is the brand and model nuumber of the card? The Radeon HD5450 is listed as an optional card so I do not see any reason to change the original power adapter. See the following specification for your PC to anything other than perhaps the 180 Watt version.http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02781659

Hi guys, A couple of days ago I woke and I tried to turn my computer on but it looks like it isn't getting any power I believe the external power brick/power cable might be dead as it is 4 years old. If I take the power cable out of the computer and turn it on I get a green light on the power brick, if i then plug the power cable into the computer the green light on the power brick goes extremely faint and starts flashing, I have checked the wall socket everything is good I believe the power cable might be gone and was going to purchase a replacement but I would like to get some opinions as I don't want to waste money purchasing a new one if it isn't that.  Thanks for reading.

A:Possibly have a dead external power brick would love opinion...

If you don't see a power led lit on the PC, it is normally an indication of a dead or dying power adapter.

The fans of my Yoga 720 are always running. When it shuts down, the fans go on max until it's done shutting down, then when it boots up, the fans go on max again. It calms down for the few seconds it takes me to open up Google Chrome. Then it goes on max again. It doesn't matter whether or not I'm running an intensive program or literally just having 1 tab open in Chome, the fans are always on.  I obviously expect it to be running at max speed when I'm playing games but not when there's 1 tab open in Google Chrome. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how was it solved? I tried searching around and still didn't find a definitive answer so I really appreciated all the feedback that everyone has to give.

I would hope my subject title is all encomposing enough for anyone with a related issue to find this thread.  Sooo, here's the problem: My AC Adapter/charger/Power brick makes a ticking sound all the time unless I plug it into my laptop when it is under 100%. Under all other conditions, it makes a ticking sound. I am unable to leave it to plugged into the outlet when my laptop is fully charged without it making a ticking sound. And the ticking sound persists even if I unplug the charger from the laptop. Looks like the charger has a problem when it has nothing to charge. Anyone has any insight into this? Is this bad for my laptop or charger? Whenever I try to talk to hp online support, they want to mess up my BIOS and remove and uninstall things when my laptop is in perfect condition. I went through a lot of laptops to find 1 that works and I really don't want them to mess up any of my settings just to try and fix an accessory that came with the laptop. Does it make any sense for them to remote access my laptop and play around with it to fix my adapter? Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.

Hi! Does the V510-15ikb have a WiFi whitelist? I want to install BCM94352Z wifi card and I need to know if I'm required to mod the bios in order to accomplish this. Thanks!

My bag with the laptop inside dropped from a chair, and then the screen bezel cracked. I want to replace it, but I don't know how. I don't see it in 'Part Lookups' either, so I don't know what part number it is. I see small little wires sticking out after I left it alone a few days, thinking that the cracks were okay. Can someone help? With wires sticking out like that, is it covered by the warranty? (mine is the limited warranty, I don't think I purchased the accidental damage protection)EDIT: is the small wires I mentioned and in the picture really wires? I'm beginning to suspect something that looks like wire is just caught there. I've taken apart an ASUS laptop screen bezel before, and I don't remember seeing wires.

The charging jack pin in my laptop got a little bit loose and tends to not connect with my adapter, loosing connection when I slightly move the laptop etc.I still have over 1 year of warranty, but after my last experiences with Lenovo service (waiting over a month for a **bleep** charger) I'd rather pay to have the jack replaced. But there are no charging jacks for this model, can't find anything anywhere (not only this model, other ideapads are also affected). Some people suggest using some Asus charging ports and trimming their legs etc, but I'd prefer some "real" method. I also don't want to loose my warranty. Is there any way I can get it replaced (even for money) without loosing the warranty? I think I could even do it myself because I've done similar things in the past (soldering pins on micro usb plugs etc) but I just simply don't want to loose my warranty, nor to wait a month without my computer (and I'd possibly get a negative response claiming it's my fault). What would you do in my situation?

I need at least 500GB to 1TB HDDs (SSD) with the addition that the speed is the same, the same quality and compatibility with the Lenovo Esential V 130-15IKB do not suffer, but improve what the SSD drives you recommend what HDD model is inside my Lenovo? I need a computer startup speed, writing lasis writing speed, and quality HDD quality HDD that is no worse than the existing one. Is it possible to order a true HDD 500GB up to 1TB? Hi nordicboy84,

Greetings.

You can use your serial number here in the parts lookup to get details for the specific storage parts available for your system. If you click on compatible under configuration and choose solid state under commodity would show compatible storage for your model.

Unlike SATA type of storage, m.2 PCIe NVMe would be the fastest for your need.

Here is also the hardware manual to review your machine and likewise compare the specification that is available in your variant. From here you can decide which type of storage you really need to add or simply upgrade the current ones. Here is the article on how to search and order parts too.

Update us how it goes best for you.

Here is problem about, Crucial BX500 960GB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD. When I made Copy a lot of video files more than 90GB Folder. Inside Folder there is  a lot of video HD files. When file appear inside copy list, speed from 300 MB/s drops down to 6 MB/s, but not for all videos files, 30% video files Crucial SSD can only copy with speed 6 MB/s. Copy write time is much longer like expect. For separate video files Crucial SSD can copy only with speed 6 MB/s, pretty low fro SSD only 6 MB/s. That speed drops down for  all 4k videos, and other videos also. The copy time extend to 16 minutes, 90 GB Folder size. Why there is such problem? When speed from 300 MB/s drops down to 6 MB/s for some files inside video folder.
