remote access to personnel info

Q: remote access to personnel info

HI-Did something really dumb-gave someone remote access to computer,Only about 30 sec.Question-have tax software on this computer any chance they could hace gotten my soc sec number.Thank you

Preferred Solution: remote access to personnel info

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: remote access to personnel info

Yes. They certainly could have gotten your social security number, but it is unlikely for that to have happened within thirty seconds unless they knew exactly what they were looking for. It depends on whether you were using an installed version of the tax software or the online version. The online version requires a password for access and would be safer in a situation like you have described. Only give remote access to your PC to someone you trust completely.

I will attempt to be as clear and concise as possible. The situation is that a company is being purchased by another company. Company A is being asked for information by company. Company B wants all of the information required to remotely access company A's servers as soon as the transaction is completed. The problem is company A no longer has IT support or even anyone onsite who is capable of providing this information. Company B has specifically requested a domain password. I have been given this responsibility because I am the closest thing they have to support. I have established remote access between personal computers in the past. But never a company server. How can I direct those onsite through the process of accessing the required information from their servers and then possibly setting up a vpn or remote test to make sure it works? Is a domain password all that company B will require to remotely access servers and network of company A?

The title says it all! Basically I have a comp running XP pro and I want to be able to work locally on one user account, with some kind of remote access server running on another XP user account so that the remote account and the local account can be used simultaniously. I know that this cannot be done with XP Pro remote desktop and could be by Windows Server 2003 remote desktop, but i need an alternate solution to make this happen.

I have a home network of 4 Win 7 computers which I leave running when I'm away from home to provide data to my website, among other things. In the past, I've been using Remote Desktop to access my home computers. It works very well, but it's always a challenge getting everything set up to work right before I go. I was wondering if others who have used Remote Desktop as well as other means of remote access would care to share their experience and express a preference, if any.

I asked a question in another thread wanting to know if there were any good free alternatives to programs PCAnywhere or GoToMyPC. Boy did I ever get more than I expected in TeamViewer that EAFiedler suggested.

Now I have a technical question about how TeamViewer works. It connects to remote systems across the internet not by an IP number that I enter but rather by an arbitrary nine-digit number assigned to the system when the program is set up. It connects so quickly that I know it cannot be scanning every IP address on the 'net looking for a TeamViewer connection at every one of them. So, I have deduced that there must be a server out there somewhere that stores TeamViewer information.

Does anyone know enough about this to confirm this and/or explain it to me somewhat?

Next question: What about security? Are there any security issues I should be concerned about, other than the obvious, of course?

This morning, I heard a nationally syndicated computer expert state that some Chinese hackers were "getting into" Windows based computers through "Remote Access/Remote Desktop" even if the service is turned off. According to the guru, "They will turn it on for you."
Being very concrete, as well as, somewhat dull concerning computers, I find this hard to believe. Could someone, in layman's terms, tell me the circumstances needed that would allow a hacker to take control of someone's system when a necessary service is turned off ??

I would like to create a spreadsheet for staff which shows the length of their project in either a Gantt chart or bars using conditional formatting and below would be a chart which would show their capacity level in 4 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months.

So if person A is working on projects 1, 2, and 3 all at the same time 3 months from now and they are spending 15 hours per week per project, they would be at 100% capacity (based on 45 hour workweek). If project 1 ended in 2 months, then the 3 month column would show them at 66% capacity.

Any suggestions on the best way to approach?

When using horizontal bar charts, I was running into some problems with labels and bars with no data. I like the way the Project Planner template in the MS Excel templates online works for the bar chart.

I kind of know what it is and what it does, but I've never actually had one on my PC. I used SPYBOT on my last PC, Clark Howard talked about it once on his show, it;s free so I downloaded it and it did what it did, and I'm not sure exactly what that was.

My new computer came with "Norton Personal Firewall"

I ran through the brief tutorial and set-up. Now every 2 seconds the thing is popping up asking me if I want to block or permit things. I have no idea what to do so I just shut the program down.

Hi. I don't know what your update is for but Microsoft likes to offer you "recommended" updates even though you have the latest or best driver. I have the most up-to-date video card (beta) drivers, and network card drivers, and monitor, but Microsoft insists that I need their recommended updates. My parts work fine without them, so I suggest you don't download those if you are not sure what they are.

Some months ago I posted in here about having a virus. Everyone here was kind enough to help me, but one day after all the scans said negative, that I was virus free, my computer went insane, started crashing, forced me to reboot, and decided to display the blue screen of death. It never booted again.

I subsequently have pulled the HD out of my computer and placed it into another computer. I can access ALL of the information on the harddrive EXCEPT the information under my main account. Any attempt to access that account folder says "Access denied". I can access all of the files for every other account that was on the computer EXCEPT the main one. I ran tests and found NO bad sectors on the drive. I did not have a password on my account.

Anyone have any ideas as to whats up? I cant imagine that a virus would be preventing me from accessing the information- the new machine is clean and fresh and, as I said, can access all of the other information on the drive. I'm DESPERATE to get the stuff off of that HD- it has YEARS worth of work product and archives from my work. My computer is currently in the hands of a set of local techies and they are at a loss and are recommending that they format it and move on. I REALLY dont want to think this is my only option.

Thank you all for your help and time!

Ok, I have a new situation I need some help with. First, let me give you the layout. For at least 3 years now I have been using my single desk for my repair work. My internet access is my cable modem, to a wireless G linksys router. That's it and has been for quite a while now. I have been picking up major business with the repair, and the single desk isnt cutting it anymore in terms of room for all the towers I get in. So I got a workbench built, but on the other side of my apartment behind my dining area. (It's a small apartment). A problem that presents itself came to light, when suddenly I did not have internet which is much needed for repair. I have a 5 port linksys switch for the setup, but I really do not want to run a 50 foot cable from my bedroom to the dining area. I obtained a linksys Access point from a friend for 5 bucks, wirelessG. The idea is to get the wireless router to talk to the access point, thus eliminating the need for the cable. I followed the configuration instructions from a site for the access point, but am unsure if I need to set it as a regular access point, or set it as a wireless repeater. Again, the setup will be modem to wireless router in the bedroom. Then Access point on the other side of the apartment connected to the 5 port switch creating 4 available internet connections for up to 4 towers at a time on my bench.

I am trying to figure out if I should setup more or fewer tables. I have what I think is a rather complicated database. I am setting up for a shelter that has residents admitted and discharged. I have demographic information on the women admitted, their children, where they came from, etc. then I have discharge information, ie like where they go, their status, etc. Is it best to setup a separate table to archive off the people when they are discharged?

Then I also I want to survey these folks 6 months, 1 year and 1.5 years after they leave and I want to keep track of that as well. I can't figure out if the survey info should also be kept in a separate table(s). Is there a source to help me with setting up the number of tables. Much info is still 1:1...Any direction would be much appreciated. Some examples I see setup separate tables for things that I would just have in a single table...I'm a bit confused about the pros and cons of setting up more or fewer tables.

A:Access: How to setup tables for survey info

Depends on information.

Where they come from: Is this something that you could choose from a list? Then make "Came From" a separate table. Otherwise, don't.

Where they go to: Is this something that you could choose from a list? Then make "Went To" a separate table. Otherwise, don't.

Surveys: One separate table with a field that links to person ID; and another that indicates whether info is for survey 1 or A (6mos), survey 2 or B (12mos), survey 3 or C (18mos); and then your survey fields.

Hi guys...

I have a database that has 2 tables.Table A is the "master" and is linked to Table B with an ID and this has transactions in it. Table A has a field for departments. Table A also has a priority field of 1-4 or it's blank if it hasnt yet been set. Table A has a comment field called X.

I have a report that currently prints Table A (with a simple query to ask the lowest priority required to print) including all the transactions associated with each record in Table A. The report is printed grouped on departments.

What I'd like to do is in the department footer include all records for a department from Table A that do not have a priority but DO have something in field X.

Is this possible or is it the impossible dream?

A:Solved: Report in access ton include certain info

You can do most things with Access.
It sounds like you need a query to find the correct data and then create a Report from that.

I noticed that I can by pass a lot of info when selecting a web page by supplying the info up front. For instance I can go to a specific warehouse at
http://xxx.com/cgi-bin/REP/b_whsinv1.cgi then its asks for a warehouse

by scanning the html code its looking for a value for "whs"
by supplying the info needed for "whs" on the address line I can go directly to a warehouse

so now here is the question.

If I have a an access form. I can create a command button(hyperlink address property) to go to that webpage, but when I try to use the warehouse name that is object(text box) I get nowhere. Ive used the textbox name, the table field name, the full path of the object (Forms!fornname.controlName).

Is this possible? Hope this makes sense.

A:passing info from an access form to a web page

Sometimes you just need to bounce the problem off of someone. The answer was pretty simple really, I just wasn't thinking simple.

I used the hyperlink property on the cmdbutton

Private Sub cmdGoToFEInventory_Click()
'Go to Fe Inventory using warehouse in Combo159
Me.cmdGoToFEInventory.HyperlinkAddress = "http://xxx.com/cgi-bin/REP/b_whsinv1.cgi?whs=" & Me.Combo159
End Sub

Sorry, If Itook up anyones time.

Thank you for taking time to read this. My friend (who lives next door and less than 150 feet away) just got a high speed Comcast cable wireless modem and said I could access it, gave me the WEP pwd, SO wanting to save a bit each month I thought I'd try it only it seems to be a weak signal, -88. It does connect, and what I have and reset was bellsouth dsl. Should I keep the bellsouth dsl or should I buy a $150 netgear widget to boost the signal from the wireless home network gateway through Comcast that my friend offered?

I got connected to the Comcast gateway, was online for a few hours and then when the power went out for ten seconds or so, which happens often here, the "network adapter could not connect..."
If you were in my shoes, would you buy something to connect to the network or let it go?

The following is what is there after redoing dsl. What does the media disconnected part mean?

Do I need to keep Dhcp enabled re
What does ethernet wireless adapter mean and how is that different from the Dlink network adapter (G122 ver. B1) that I have plugged it usb?

THANK YOU I've spent hours trying to figure this out over the last few days.

I am administering a MS Access 2003 project written by someone else to track Membership with some links to a SQL 2005 database and some Perle programs. PCs using Office 2003 can read and write correctly to the Access project. In recent times we upgraded a couple of PC's to use Office 2007 and find that a contact log tab within the Access project cannot be read or written to from the PCs using Office 2007. Can anyone help me determine whether there is a backward compatibility issue or perhaps a setting change required in the Office 2007 setup?
