I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I am somewhat experienced in computers, but not very hardcore.

Anyway, my PC's onboard sound card recently stopped working, so I got a new (budget) sound card, a CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device as listed on the device manager. I have disabled the onboard sound card (High Definition Audio Bus) in the Device Manager (it now has a little red X on it).

The output sound is working fine, but everytime I try to use the mic, the whole computer hangs.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Thank you.

Hello:

My husband and employer both sent me an email that shows the correct date in the email time line, but Outlook shows a recieve date of April 2008.

It doesn't happen on every email, just some. We've all checked our clock dates and their correct. Talked to my Internet Service Provider and they said it was an Outlook problem.

Any ideas?

Hi....don't know if there is an answer for my "problem" or not...Hope so.

it is now 3:19 in the afternoon (Central St. Time) There has been something coming in ...in my OE e/mail (I have 6.0, and dial up)...This "whatever" has been "receiving" since 15 min. until 2:00 (1:45 p.m.)..it is still coming in...
Is their any way that I can purge incoming...I don't know what it is...and don't care what it is....I don't want it anyhow...
I have been e/mailing my sis in Houston back and forth this morning with no problem, and we have just finished on the phone...and it isn't she who is sending me something.

I just want to know what I can do to stop this from coming in...it is tying up my computer for other 3/mails, and I can't send any out until this is finished...

I did shut my computer down...and I got the (yellow triangle with exclaimation point ) saying error...but closed that and shut down anyhow...waited a few minutes then turned the computer back on.....and it started still coming in...

Can anybody help here...please tell me what I can do....aside from pitching the computer out the window.

Thanks,
sherri

P.S. it is now 3:27 and still coming in.

I followed the following steps on windows 8

1. Everything working I can ping Google
2. Create new incoming vpn network
3. I can no longer use DNS pings to outside addresses don't work although the router still seems to be the DNS server and I can use DNS from another machine on the network including from a vm running on the same machine
4 nslookup to internal and external addresses give a no response from server error
5 Delete the vpn connection and everything works again

My network settings for the pc are all automatic (although I have tried statically setting the ip etc as well)
The settings for the VPN are simply no tcpv6 tcp 4 has a range of ip addresses

I can connect to the VPN from an external network

I have tried turning off the windows firewall but this had no effect nslookup still failed

Any clues how to fix?

Greetings:
I have had a web-based email account (starspath) for two years and have had no problems until recently. For whatever reason I can send email, but can't receive any at all. I have not exceeded storage capacity and never open suspicious attatchments. However, I do suspect that may account may be contaminated from some unknown source. It's not a computer issue since I have the same problem whether I'm using my computer, a friends, or a public computing center. When I send messages to this account from an alternate account, they immediately return as "undeliverable", "couldn't find mail exchanger or IP address". I forwarded this problem to the starspath tech support, but inquiries are not exactly acknowledged in a timely manner if you know what I mean. I recently entered the job market (again) and depend on this account as a contact source from prospective employers. Anybody have a solution for me??
Thank You!!

A:No Incoming Mail

To be honest this sounds like something your mail provider will need to sort out. In the meantime you could set up an alternative email address and then set up a rule in the problematic address to forward on to the new address. Then when you want to receive you can receive from the new address.
To be honest I dont think this will work, but its the only thing I can think of and you sound quite desperate

I have checked the box under system properties/remote (Allow Remote Assistance connection to this computer) and I have check the box under McAfee Firewall/ports and system services for port 3389.

I have also temporarily turned off the firewall....no good.

I know that system I am RDP'ing from works because I can get to a Windows XP machine.

Hello, ive been trying to get some information about R600, but internet is confusing xD
how would it be?
how much would it cost?
And ive heard that would be better than the G80, cause of the 512bits 120 GB/s rate transfer, 64 unified shaders, etc, etc....but how much expensive? xD

Greetings from Chile
Bz

A:what do you know about the incoming R600?

The X2800XTX is going to be ~$600US. It is better than the G80 with 64 Unified Shaders doing 4 ops per clock so theoretically 256 Unified Shader ops per clock cycle. It will run at 700/2400 and will have 153.6GB/s memory bandwidth. It should be about 1.5x more powerful than G80. G81 should be a little more of a competition, but the R600 should still be better than the G81 aka 8900GTX.

Guessing its a dial-up connection?

If he has "call waiting" enabled on the phone line it puts a "beep" on the line when a call is waiting (when the line is otherwise engaged, in this case with an internet connection).

Thats what the modem will be detecting I would guess. If the caller then hangs up, the beep while they were waiting can often be enough to disrupt the connection.

How does he know that nobody was calling? If they had given up and hung up?

A friend of mine got some malware on her 2-month-old Win7 laptop, so she went to Bellsouth/Yahoo customer service. They tried to sell her a $450 package for 3 years of virus cleanups. Part of their sales pitch, while they were logged into her computer, was to pop up a list with a bunch of IP addresses on it, claiming that these were the incoming connections for the last 24 hours -- "...and notice how many of them were from outside the US."

This sounds bogus to me. I'm not aware of anything on Win7 that does incoming IP logging on a new, only-slightly-tuned system.

What do you think? Was this real, or fake? (If real, I really need to know how to make use of that log myself.)

Most of the incoming mail messages are, for unknown reasons, going into the deleted folder rather than into the inbox. This began about two weeks ago when I upgraded to Norton 360 Premium. Yes, it could be a coincidence, but I would first suspect Norton. If you can't find any Norton options relative to handling incoming mail I would uninstall it, at least long enough for testing. Symantec has a very good Norton Removal Tool, and that link also gives instructions on how to make sure you have the Product key saved for a later re-installation.

Hi wfl80

You have the Preview Pane enabled?
If you want to close the Preview Pane in Outlook Express:
View > Layout
Uncheck: Show preview pane
Apply, OK to save and close.
What Font is showing for Outlook Express?
Tools > Options > Read tab

These are my settings in Outlook Express:
Font settings
Western European
Default Encoding:
Western European
If the above doesn't help, try creating a new Identity in Outlook Express to see if the font problem persists in the new Identity. If it doesn't, you can migrate to the new Identity and Import all your messages to the new Identity.

Create a new Identity:
File > Identities > Add New Identity
Name the Identity
Click Yes when asked if you want to switch to the new Identity.
Cancel out of Importing or Upgrading if the option is given.
Recreate your E-mail account.

Send yourself a Test message to verify your account settings are correct and to preview the font.

Let us know what happens.

Hi, techguys!

I need help with the following problem. I'm on a LAN provided by my ISP, but the LAN is very hostile (when I first connected two years ago, I got hacked within something like 15 minutes). I have closed all my ports by disabling all kinds of Windows XP services (Home) and I installed Jetico Firewall, which I think is really good. I log everything, allowed and blocked traffic.

Jetico allows one to see ARP packets going out and coming in. And that's where my problem lies: Almost nothing goes out, but every second, I get about 8 ARP packets! That seems like very much. No addresses on this LAN are trusted. I have disabled NetBIOS and even uninstalled Microsoft Client from the Internet Connection.

I was wondering if there is a way to somehow regulate this traffic. I've tried blocking the packets, but the Internet connection went dead.
Isn't there a way to limit this traffic? Maybe by hardcoring the gateway's and DNS servers' MAC addresses? If yes, how do I do that?
In the command line it says that my gateway MAC is dynamic. Does that mean I have no control over this crazy stuff?
And how can I determine the MAC of my DNS servers?

I have Ethereal installed, but I have no idea whatsoever what to do with it besides watching all those packets come in. I was alarmed by the administrator of firewallleaktester[dot]com that when I registered there for the mailing list, his logs showed some specially crafted packets that 'could only be t... Read more

I am really hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I have successfully configured windows 2000 to accept incoming connections via a modem. I can now dial into my pc. What I need to do though is have a log of when someone has dialled in, when they have dialled out, and the name of that user. The log needs to be viewed by regular users of the PC (not only administrators).

I have tried all sorts of shareware which only seems to log outgoing modem activity, not incoming. Initially I thought Event Viewer may have been the answer but only administrators can view it and it only seems to log when someone has logged on (not out and the user is always NA).

Techspot;

I recently found the need to track the incoming IP's of machines attempting to RDP into my Server 2008 R2 servers, this includes a host of... I would say.. 30+ machines. I am only needing the ability to view, not block or stop, and would prefer to stay away from any 3rd party firewalls.

I have heard that the Windows firewall can do this, however, I also read that it cannot track IP's, only logon attempts.

I must be losing my memory, I swear I could have answered this very question one year ago....

We get our emails through our hosting site. I'd like to be able to have more control over the emails that come into our inboxes on our computers.

Scenario: We each have at least one email address through our website host. I am the administrator of the site/account, and would prefer, rather than going to the site itself, to have the emails for two addresses come to my mailbox before I allow them to pass to the recipient's inbox. I have asked our host about the ability to do so through them, but they have not answered me. (I just sent that question off again, and am waiting to see if I get an answer this time!) I'm trying to do this in order to better control spam and phishing that one person insists on opening and replying to.

I previously had Norton 360 on her computer, and most of the spam would come to that spam inbox, but she would still open it, AND reply to it! So, I'd like to have more control over what she actually sees in her inbox. Is there a program that allows this? Or, a webhost who allows this? I'm not opposed to switching hosts as our current host is not very easy to work with, and I'm getting fed up trying to communicate with people who don't speak or understand English very well.

I really hope somebody replies to my inquiries this time!

Hello, about a week ago I started experiencing a problem when trying to connect to my friends gaming servers (this may need to go in the gaming section but I think the problem is deeper than that. We use hamachi to avoid port forwarding, firewall issues etc and that refuses to let either of us ping each other, if I try to ping his public IP in CMD it works but if he tries to ping me he gets request timed out. I think the problem is with incoming connections to my laptop. It isn't network specific either as I've tried it on 3 different networks. To summarise, it seems to be any incoming connections are seemingly blocked/ not recognised by my laptop.

What I've tried to fix it:
-Disabling firewall and anti-virus
-Re-installing Hamachi
-checking for network adapter driver updates (None found)
-Trying to connect on different networks (Same problem)

I've had the problem for about a week and its driving me insane! Usually i can fix problems with windows but not this one so any help is massively appreciated

I've added my Gmail account into built in email application and wondering if there is a possibility to choose and get an immediately sound notification for every incoming email like on my Android phone? The only thing I can see is my name and number of new messages in Start menu and new messages in a line in Action Center, but no sounds notifications.

A:Sound for incoming emails

I assume you mean " built in email application " as in the Mail app. Yes ?
If so, try this...............
Open your Mail app > left side, at the bottom, click the gear icon
Right side, click Notifications > check the box " Apply to all accounts > check the box " Play a sound"

See if you want to check the other boxes too.

In recent weeks, I had upgrade my Vista to Win 7 since build 7100, 7127 and finally Build 7201. That costed me a lot of time. If there's new leak of Win 7 Build, can I upgrade my present build to a new one so I can keep my applications installed and data. Thanks.
Hirun.

A:Can I upgrade my Win 7 to new incoming Win 7 Build

Yeah, you can. You said you've upgraded the other builds, so you could do it again come next leak.

What causes email to duplicate itself? Is it a Server problem or what? This morning 8 of my incoming messages have quadruplicated themselves. The others are normal. I've had this problem occasionally, off and on, but usually only duplication and not quadruplication. Chuck ([email protected])

What email program do you use?
How much hard drive space do you have?
What operating system?
How much RAM?
Have you ever had this problem before?

It's been a long day and the logic isn't there...

I'm setting up a VLAN of 10 Wireless Access Points, a uplink port and a management port.

All is working, but I want the management port (2) to be able to access each WAP (3-12) but not the WAPs to access the management port.

A:Incoming / Outgoing Ports
