Which budget case?

Q: Which budget case?

So i want to spend less than 45, approx $55, on a case with support for a MicroATX MOBO. My requirwments are at least 1x USB 3 header and A window (i.e. not 2). I found these three: Cooler Master - MasterBox Lite 5 ATX Mid Tower Case, Realan E-D3 Micro ATX case, Corsair - 100R ATX Mid Tower Case

Does anyone have anything to say about anything, things i should know about, good/bad experiences? Should i look at different cases? Thanks a bunch!

Preferred Solution: Which budget case?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Budget PC case?

The Corsair 200R meets all your needs, but unfortunately, after Corsair released their new Spec budget cases, they raised the price of the 200R from $50 to $70.

So if you want a nice case for <$70, Corsair has some nice options you can check out >>here<<. I would watch unboxing videos on the Spec cases before purchasing since I am unsure if they would suit your needs (I am not too familiar with them since they are new). If you decide on a case, I recommend buying them from either >>Newegg<< or >>Amazon<<.

If you are interested in an unboxing of the 200R, check it out >>here<<.

This is going to be used for gaming, such as MMOs like WoW (Like! I don't play but this is an example ), FPS like Modern Warfare 2, Borderlands, CS:S, and for Video Editing or Video Watching (Movies?), My Dream for this PC is to make it able to run Crysis around medium (I researched that Crysis has one of the best graphics in gaming ) Also, I am building this due to the fact that my brother has the family Xbox in his room and doesn't allow me to play it, and it seems really fun to do with my friend.

My Budget is around 450$-500$ (PC, Not Including Monitor, Keyboard, or Speakers I plan on using the Dell Default ones I am on now and not including OS).

I can buy online but really prefer not to if I am capable of getting the other parts faster. The only thing I expect to buy online would be the case, which I can buy 1st.

I have a Dell Vostro 200 Slim, My Friend tells me that it is not very good and is amazed that I can run a game like Maplestory or Team Fortress 2, so no, BUT I will scrap the 2 1GB Ram I put in before, maybe give to my brother for his PC or sell.

Do you need other peripherals like a monitor, keyboard and mouse, among others? Nope

Have you already bought any parts? No D:

"I guess I'm just looking for expert advice on the best I can do.."

I'm going to have 400$ to spend after holidays, and decided I mine as well upgrade as I've been wanting to do for awhile now. All I'm going to need is a case (ATX I assume), motherboard and processor.

Currently have:
Antec 480-W 12V PSU
WD Caviar 300GB HD
Radeon 9800 PRO 128 MB (Does fine for now, thank you
DVD-RW Drive
M-Audio 9268 Sound Card

Currently need:
Case
Mobo
Processor

So - I'm thinking of a mobo with AGP and PCI-E, which I did find the ASROCK for 70$, which features that, 1000mhz FB, and up to 4Gig of 3200 Ram. I'm liking that. Also leaning towards AMD 3500, found that for about 200$.

I guess I'm just looking for expert advice on the best I can do, any help is truely appreciated.

Thanks
David

A:ADVICE: 400$ Budget for Mobo, CPU and Case

The aspire X-Navigator is a really good case. There are two versions, an aluminum one, and a steel one. Steel is $99 and Aluminum is $150. The Steel one is better. It doesn't have a good psu though you said you didn't need one. The athlon 64 3700 is a really good cpu. And the Asus A8N-SLI is the best motherboard out there. Here are links to all items.

Case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144167

CPU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103539

Mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131524

Total, these will cost $450, but you will have a really upgradable path. The CPU has more built on Ram then the 3500. Good Luck.

Hi all,

I'm quite stuck on getting a PC case which will help with cooling. I'm looking for the best case at cooling in the 70 range. The case has to be big enough for graphic card upgrades (I currently have 5850 XFX Black Editions in crossfire). Examples of cases I've looked at are the Carbide 300R, HAF 912 Plus and Fractal Design R4. Please can anyone advise of the best case (in this class?) in the UK. I'm happy to add additional case fans to get better cooling!
MB is ATX, BTW.

A:PC Case advice for better cooling (budget @£60-£80)

Well since im going to assume air cooling I have a couple of options that I personally like for those types of systems:

NZXT Phantom Mid Tower

Corsair 400R or the 300R are both great options

There are many more but those are a few near your price point I recommend. I like the NZXT Phantom cases the most because of their room, expandability, and overall sleek look.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX270. When I press the power button, the power button light turns amber, I hear some fans spinning, and the CD drive spinning. However, it never gets to the boot screen (or any screen). If I open the case and press the power button, however, the power button turns green and the computer works fine (loads all the way up and functions like normal). If I close the case after it has started, it continues to run fine. I'm guessing / hoping it's not the mother board or power supply that has directly gone bad... but maybe there is a connection or something? that changes from when it's closed to when it's open. I've heard of something like... the motherboard is shorting out by touching the case... but I'm not really sure where to look for that / how. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I have an Acer Aspire X1700 (Details
It's about 2 1/2 years old now. Came with Windows Vista, I upgraded it to Windows 7. Also has a newer video card than what came with it.

Anyway, The PSU fan is getting really obnoxious, it gets really loud (more or less like a lawn mower). I have taken the thing apart and have tried every suggestion given to quiet it down, which it does for a whole week or two. This is a small form factor PC, so to even take the power supply out you have to basically take out everything else just to get to it. I have looked for replacements but they are very obsolete. It's only 220W anyway, so i'd like something a little more powerful.

What I want to do is get a larger case that I can use the same hardware is (motherboard, drives, etc) and purchase a larger power supply for that case. 220W really limits the PC. The small case holds a lot of heat even with all fans cleaned and working properly. Even just taking a CD/DVD out that was in it is very hot. I want a case with better airflow than this one.
I really am not sure what kind of case to get that will meet my needs. I don't want anything really fancy. If possible I'd like to get it off newegg.com

Any suggestions would be great.

Now another question comes up regarding modifying the cooling of my case/ computer etc.

I was wanting to carve two 3 1/2" holes in the top of my case, for two 12cm fans. Now I know fully how to do this, however, I was wondering which direction the air flow should go. Should the fans blow into my case? (Like I suspect) Or should I have them blow out?

The orange highlights are the fans I wish to add. Which direction should I have the air flow setup?

A:Case airflow question before modifying case

I would have them sucking air out. Hot air rises, and the side panel fan will hit the VGA's mb, etc and spread out, also they are right next to the PSU. You wont have any really big difference either in or out , but I would have those two pulling the hot air that manages to make it to the top of the case out. and negative pressure tend to run a bit cooler overall.

Hi PYGMUS. I'm assuming your budget excludes the cost of a monitor and peripherals such as mouse, keyboard and speakers.

Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz - $299.99
ASUS Rampage III Formula LGA 1366 Intel X58 - $299.99
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 - $139.99
Seasonic SS-850HT 850W Power Supply - $119.99
2x MSI N460GTX CYCLONE 1GD5/OC GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB - $439.98
Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB - $74.99
COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Black Steel ATX Full Tower - $139.99

Total - $1,514.92

With the remaining cash you could get yourself a good aftermarket CPU HSF and other components of your choice and requirement. You could look towards getting a Blu Ray Drive or SSD if you're interested.

I have $700 to use for a PC setup. I originally was just going to customize a Dell from the Dell web site until I saw how severally overprice many components were and even way outdated! Therefore I want to build my own with parts through Newegg.

Here's what I have so far:
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=12032652
I already have a Sata hard drive and THIS power supply so those 2 items can be excluded.

Can anyone tell me for sure the processor, motherboard, memory and case that I picked would all be compatible with each other?

I play on adding a video card down the road also. I remember reading but not sure if it was this specific motherboard, but one of them said it didn't have integrated video so I'm curious as to how you'd even install a video card with no video to install the drivers?

A:$700 Budget for a PC

$700 is a bit more than a budget computer...

You have an OS to install? At least until Windows7 comes out?

I would go with the following (order of your list)
1 - Case: Pretty much anything that is Rosewill = crap. Want a good basic black case with good airflow, try this:
Antec 300 $55 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042 (IS your PSU 24pin and 4pin wires very long? Many of todays cases such as the 300 has the PSU on the bottom)

2 - Keyboard, $7 keyboards won't last long. A good cheap keyboard is an HP or Logitech for $15+ But none of them are as good as what was made 10-15years ago.

3 - Spend $40~50 more on a 24" Samsung. Acer tends to be washed out. Over at Costco, they sell the 24" Samsung for $200. $250 with HD-Tuner and HDMI input. (Add $50 from newegg) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001280

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...=0&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1

4 - With AMD DDR2 boards, its generally best to go with DDR2-800mhz: RAM 4GB DDR2 800 - $47 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1682014518 G.Skills are good, I use them.

5 - Mice : Check out Logitech... $5~10 mice tend to live for a month or so. Spend at least $15+ Good mice are $30~50.

6 - Motherboard The 790 doesn't have onboard graphics. Not sure what you're asking. If you buy a motherboard without on-board graphics and you don't add a video card, you DON'T get vide... Read more

2 gigs of RAM (Max on Mobo)

A:$200 budget what can I do.

Basically nothing. TF2 relies too much on the CPU for a graphics+power supply upgrade, which you could afford, to make any difference. A new motherboard, CPU, RAM and OS are out of your budget. ~80 $ for a decent motherboard, 110$ for a really good one, 50-80 for RAM, 80-130-150-190 for a CPU, 90-150 for an OS.

Hi Everybody!

I need some help with my HP Compaq Presario SR5030NX Desktop PC. Lately I have noticed that it has been running low on memory and the performance has been slow. I have already upgraded my RAM to the max capacity (2GB /2 GB (max) ) and I have been running into problems when trying to do general things like surf the net, run WMP11, and some general multitasking. WMP will start skipping as I am running an application or browsing the internet or I will have slow loading times.

I am just wondering if there is anything I can do to improve its performance by not breaking the bank. I have thought about buying a non integrated graphics card to free up memory but I would also need a new PSU since I am working with stock. Could buying a new Mobo with more RAM expansion and a faster processor help or is there anything that you all could think of?

I use my PC for listening to music, surfing the internet, editing videos, and business applications.

Here are a few of my specs:

2 one of my friend put together a system for me and i want to know if it is any good.

3 is the solid state drive a good idea

Hi, I'm Mason and I am building a PC for about $800 with a monitor and I want to know if there are any components that you would recommend.

here is my build on PC partpicker.com

A:Budget gaming PCs

If you're wanting to use this for gaming, throughput will definitely be important to you. In that respect, you'd want to install the games on the SSD and the one you've picked out just won't cut it. Windows 10x64 alone will account for about 11GB of space on the SSD, and then there are all the other applications you may want to install. This is before you even get around to installing games, which oftentimes will consume several GBs of space per game.

However, that is not to say you can't use the SSD for your OS and general apps, and then use the 1TB drive for installing your games. They just won't load as fast, and I just wanted to point this out to try and help you make an informed choice.

Hey!

I was looking through CPUs and Motherboards (As that's all I need to buy at this time, don't worry about the RAM).

I found these (Sorry, I'm not allowed to post links yet):

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R
Intel Core2 Quad Q9400

I want to future-proof this set-up as best as possible FOR UNDER $450.

The Q9400 has SSE4.1, 6mb L2 cache, and 1333mhz fsb (45nm manufacturing process).
I assume SSE4.1 instructions are GOOD to have (should I forget about this)?

The thing is, I will never overclock anything, and I'm wondering how much extra am I paying for this "fairly capable" overclocking gigabyte board. Is there one that's comparable without the overclock-ready components?

Any responses are GREATLY appreciated!!!

A:PC Plans - Less than $450 budget

Futureproofing by my definition: I want to fit into the "reccomended" requirements for games over the next 3 years. Not 120FPS in crysis kind of goal.

"Don't worry about ram": I can get 2GB sticks of DDR2 RAM at any time from my local stores, so I don't need to discuss it. No offense taken .

I am doing this in increments though, trying to capitalize on what I have now, and the future development of products whilst getting the best value possible.

My plan: Core 2 Quad (yet to determine best value per dollar now, i thought the new instructions might be worth my while), Gigabyte motherboard (good quality; not DESIGNED solely for overclocking), 4GB kingston DDR2 probably 1066.
Still keeping my--harddrives, nvidia 7800gt (I know this is "inefficient"), 450W coolermaster PSU, case, sound blaster audigy 4...

I realize at some point I'll have to buy a new GPU, and a new PSU, I'm waiting until DirectX 11 to contemplate this, as I feel buying a DirectX 10 video card is a waste.

The i7 doesn't interest me, by the time I can afford it, octa-core will be released, I have to choose when to buy sometime... I have an athlon 64 right now.

The Question Remains

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R
Intel Core2 Quad Q9400

Good Combo? I will not be overclocking.

Thanks for your response Matthew.

A:Help for choosing a budget gpu

Do the following in that computer because we need a lot more information than its Gigabyte motherboard - which has a partially-obscured model number in your image.

Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) to the desktop.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your computer will appear.
Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.

Also advise us what the brand name and complete model number and wattage is of your computer's power supply.

Also advise us the main reason for you wanting to install a graphic card in your computer.

Ok, so I have allowed myself to spend 300 bucks this pay check and I was thinking going with a I5 6600 6mb skylake cpu and either an ASUS B150M-A D3 or an MSI H110M PRO-D. I was hoping to get some help on comparing these two motherboards. Perhaps if anyone has other ideas I could do while staying in budget or a lil past it. The budget is $300.

Im currently looking for a 144 hz monitor. Preferably 27 inch but obviously doesnt fit my budget (below $300). Therefore I have to go with the 24 inches (not bad either). I'm currently deciding between 3 monitors all in stock on amazon.
Amazon.com: BenQ XL Series XL2411Z 24-Inch LED Monitor: Computers & Accessories

Amazon.com: Philips 242G5DJEB 144hz, 1ms Extreme Performance 24-Inch Professional Gaming Monitor: Computers & Accessories

Amazon.com: AOC G2460PQU 144hz, 1ms Ultimate Performance 24-Inch Professional Gaming Monitor: Computers & Accessories

It's hard to decide which one since i have no experience in these monitors.

A:Best budget 144 hz monitor

Graphic card specs? I'm not an expert with graphics, but I do know that sometimes a midrange graphics card can limit performance on a great monitor and vice versa for an average monitor hooked up to a great GFX card..... just food for thought.

From personal experience the best thing you can do when buying any monitor (or TV) is to look at it yourself. You can't always hook up your own device to it, but by checking it out in person you can see what really pops and what looks good to your own eyes. Try to get over to a best buy or microcenter or someplace where they have these monitors you're looking into and check them out yourself! Doesn't have to be the same exact size as the one you're looking for, if they come in multiple sizes, as long as it's the same family of monitors.

Hi all,
My PC is now 5 years old (and not top of the range when I bought it) and I am looking to make some cheap upgrades to improve the speed/capability when running HD movies and some gaming (Civ 5, Football Man 2012 etc). I'm primarily thinking CPU and as a necessity of that the motherboard.

Overview of current PC:
P4 processor, RC415 motherboard, 2gb Ram, NVidia GEForce GT430 GPU, Vista 32 bit, Internal 140GB & external 1TB hard drives.

Looking around the internet at prices and benchmarking a good value/performance ratio option (based on my limited knowledge of PC hardware) would possibly be:

AMD Athlon II X4 631 Quad Core - 2.6 GHz - 55 and
ASROCK M3N78D - Socket AM3 - Chipset 720D - ATX - 40

Can anyone advise me:
1) If this indeed would be a good improvment (on current system)
2) A good option (compared to other CPU's etc)
3) Any compbatability issues I may have not anticipated.

Many thanks in advance

Hey all,

I've pretty much set myself on everything in my budget build except for the processors. I've been researching for hours and I can't find a consistent answer with which processor to go with. The main battle of the wallet seems to take place between the Intel Core i3-6100 and the Intel Core i5-6500. I'm set on using the MSI gaming RX 470 4GB graphics card with 8GB of RAM.

My main question is: Is there a slightly less expensive, but still cost effective, variant of the i5 quad core?

Thank,
Josh "PC building noob" B.

I will be using the Gigabyte LG1151 Intel H110 Micro ATX DDR4 motherboard if this changes anything.

Just seeing AMD FX something vs Intel i3 gets my mind baffled.

Really need some suggestions on what to get. Thanks in advance. Oh and also If it's compatible with a 2TB HDD. Thanks again!

Ok,
I thought I had to go AMD for price so I purchased:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 2.7GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core black edition

Foxconn A7GM-S AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Now I am getting a lot of feedback that I should have stuck with Intel for my new build. So who can come up with a better Intel CPU & Mobo at around $150? E5200 with mobo? Would it be worth it to send the AMD back? Would I need a cooler for whatever you can come up with or is stock ok?

Which would be better upgradable?

Am adding it to:

Crucial 2GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Desktop Memory

Western Digital WD 3200AAKS Caviar SE16 320GB SATA II 7200 Rpm 16MB Cache SATA Hard Drive

Group Blue Storm II 500W ATX 2.2 SLI Ready Active PFC Power Supply

GPU: Radeon X1950PRO 256MB PCIe GDDR3

I already have purchased these other components and got many at better prices than NewEgg so not inclined to change them, except maybe add memory.

This will be a XP system with only occasional WoW gaming ect.

A:AMD or Intel CPU Budget

7750 or e5200, the difference your not going to see.

go with whats cheaper.

i tested the 7750, it is no doubt amd's best dual core chip in the athlon x2 line.
i tested it against the x2 6400.

clock for clock, the 7750 came out on top, and the temp difference was amazing.
the 7750 ran 10C cooler in the same system.

3.4Ghz is a good stable overclock on the 7750. (2.7 stock)
thats a 700mhz overclock.

i cant speak on the e5200 overclocking, because i have not owned one myself.
im sure it can overclock past 3.4 tho, given you have a good cpu cooler.

but what im trying to say, either chip you get, the performance is almost identical to the other.

here is my 6400 vs 7750 chart i made @ another site after a couple of bencharmarks were completed.

test system:
asus m2n-e 570 ultra mobo
ocz platinum ddr2 800 ram
evga gtx 280
x2 7750 and x2 6400

the 3dmark score is cpu score only, the actual scores both are in the 12k range, but that is thanks to the gpu.

edit: get a getter video card than that x1900 series.
if your going ati, grab a 4830 if you can afford it, its about $100
if you want nvidia, grab a 9600gso, its less than $100, and its a great budget card.

Am trying to decide between Lenovo G500 15.6" Laptop 4GB Memory 1TB Hard Drive 59399508 - Best Buy

and HP Pavilion 17.3" Laptop 4GB Memory 750GB Hard Drive 17-e019dx - Best Buy.

This will be for Windows 7 multi-tasking on internet, Office, streaming video, Skype, no gaming. The RAM will be doubled to 8gb.

The HP 17" screen for about the same weight is fast with Corei3 4000 Haswell processor which compares favorably with the Lenovo's Core i5 3230. But a possible fatal flaw is the flimsy power port with elbow plug which falls out. Best Buy says they will replace the PC with another one since it isn't a known flaw for the model and extend the return period so I can compare them side-by-side.

Which do you think is best, and why?

A:Which of these budget laptops is best?

Hi Greg .. I have two Lenovos one a Desktop which i have had for for over two years the other one a Laptop which is in my System Specs ...Neither of them have given me any bother in all that time ... So i would say for reliability Lenovo wins hands down .. Apart from that side of things i think the Lenovos are better made .. I have had an HP Laptop in the past that was a number of years ago .. And it did preform well but i think their standards have dropped .. I see a lot of Laptops on here with problems HP rate as one of the highest a long with Sony .. Maybe that is because not many people have Lenovos .. Before i joined the Forums i had all the Bloatware that came with the Laptop and even with that it was still fast booting time was around 20/30 Seconds .. Thanks to you i done a Clean Install and now it is even better .. I think your best bet is to try them both for awhile and see how they compare ...

Rosewill RCX-Z1 Long life ball bearing for over 45,000/hrs CPU Cooler

Need help with a graphics card. 2600XT or 3650 perhaps.

A:First Build Low-budget

Nice build there. You could go with this cooler instead though, for $10 more. The added cooling performance is worth it, as is the better reliability. You can spend less on the PSU too and get this one, which will also be more than sufficient.

As for a video card, go with an HD 3650 over a 2600XT. Runs cooler and has better features to boot.

I'm looking for a motherboard for my current ATX case. Currently, if you look at my specs, I am using an ECS L7VMM v1.1 with an AMD Athlon XP 1700+ processor and 512 MB DDR SDRAM. I will upgrade the RAM soon enough but I'd like to know what would be the best solution on a $200 budget, maybe $300 if I can get a halfway decent processor on the cheap. Must have AGP 8x/4x as I currently use GeForce FX 5500 and would like it keep it that way for now. Wouldn't be for anything special other than DOS playability via WIndows 98 and VB programming via Win 2K/XP.

Just some thoughts amongst the community about which one would be the better overall product for me.

Thanks in advance.

GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-S2H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail - $79.99

Hi, I need a $700 budget gaming PC that can run World of Warcraft on ultra/high settings with a high/considerable frame rate. I don't really want to build it, since I'm only 14 and pretty inexperienced with fitting all the hardware into the case. Also, the website needs to be able to ship to Australia internationally with a preferably small postage (if possible). I'm not looking for anything that's able to run Crysis on high settings, just a simple game like World of Warcraft. I've seen some pretty mediocre gaming rigs that can handle WoW on high/ultra settings with a good frame rate, so I think $700 should be enough (as long as you pick the right hardware). Here are some of my options:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-Intel-E6...085860?pt=AU_comp_dekstop&hash=item4aa55f99e4 - I want to upgrade the RAM, which is available in the seller's description, and get a good gaming video card ($100-150, and maybe $200 if necessary), which is going to be from another source, and maybe even a HDD upgrade. Given the details in the seller's description, can upgrades of these sorts be applied? I'm not exactly certain. I'd also like to mention that the operating system, monitor, keyboard and mouse are all covered already (not inside my budget).

Hi, I'm new here and would like to start of by saying thanks for this helpful forum

When it comes to computing I'm far from a expert so I though what better place to learn and get advice, hope all are having a fine day.

If someone could give some help or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I want to buy a laptop powerful enough to run programs such as Cubase 8 or pro tools and to do other things like video editing. Firstly I need a laptop and I can only stretch to 450 pounds, I have been looking all over and its mind boggling, I want to make sure that I get the right laptop and don't waste my money.

Would a laptop with core i5 be powerful enough to run such programs? The laptops that fit my budget seem to have i5 with around 8gb RAM.

here is a link to a laptop I have fund on ebay. (please forgive me if lining isn't allowed)

Does that seem like fair value? and is it powerful enough for my needs?
Also is there a risk with buying a refurbished laptop from ebay?

Thanks for any help
