I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I had similar issues with sleep mode and waking up. Eventually my Y700 stopped working completely and wouldn't wake up from sleep (black screen of death, no Lenovo logo, no startup). Had to send it back and they're saying it could be the motherboard. Will have to wait some weeks before I see it again. Come on Lenovo...

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone can help me. Whenever my laptop is in a sleep state and I accidently press any key on the keyboard, it automatically wakes the computer and I dont want this to happen. I simply just want the power button to wake the laptop.

I have tried disabling every item within the device manager that has the option, 'Allow this device to wake the computer' but still it is happening.

Thanks a lot

A:Disable Keyboard from waking laptop from sleep state

Hello Swifty,

You might see if OPTION TWO in the tutorial below may be able to help with this. It will let you see what devices are able to wake the computer, and how to prevent them from doing so. It may help with the keyboard.

Devices - Allow or Prevent to Wake Up Computer

Hope this helps,

Hi everyone, I bought this laptop about 3 months ago and I'm loving it so far. But every so often the keyboard would just stop working and when I try shutting it off, it would go through the entire shutting off process and the screen goes black but all the lights and fan would still be on. I am then forced to hold the power button down to force it off. When I restart the computer instead, it would take me to the blue screen where it would say "Windows has ran into an unexpected error" then the screen would turn black again and everything else would be on. Anyone have any idea or solution to what's going on? Thanks in advnace!

I have a Windows 8.1 x64 Lenovo Flex 2 laptop.  Recently the keyboard will not respond after I have put the machine to sleep and then try to login again.  Neither will the touchpad mouse.  I have to use a USB mouse to Shut Down (not simply restart) then boot up before the keyboard will work again.  Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I have an Asus Vivobook with the updated windows 8 installed. I cannot figure out how to make the laptop wake from sleep from the keyboard without opening the laptop and waking it from the screen. Is it possible to change this?

A:Waking from sleep mode from the keyboard

I would check this post here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/122027-devices-allow-prevent-wake-up-computer.html

I would try option 1:
- hit the windows logo key + R
- type devmgmt.msc
- Under keyboards, right click your keyboard and select properties
- On the power management tab, select "allow this device to wake the computer"

Hello,I recently bought a new HP Pavilion 15-bc035nd (Windows 10) but I am running into a few issues with it. When I go into sleep mode and then wake up the laptop, using the power button, the keyboard and touchpad stops working. I am not able to enter my password. Via an external mouse and keyboard I am able to enter my password succesfully. Even after entering my password I am still not able to use my touchpad/keyboard of my laptop. Only a hard reset enables me to use the keyboard/touchpad again. I have tried various settings regarding power management but nothing seems to resolve my issue... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,Kevin

Laptop goes to sleep when playing games. I did a clean install of windows, updated to the new "37" BIOS, updated all drivers, and it still persists. Lenovo chat support was abysmal, they didn't understand that I had drivers updated and just randomly decided to end my chat without further support. This is just so **bleep** annoying, All i can say is, my first experience with Lenovo has been horrible.

Hi, I've recently bought a Thinkpad campact bluetooth keyboard and W541.As I've been using a Macbook pro, I expected that a bluetooth keyboard could awake my laptop when it is in sleep mode like a Macbook does.I found that a wired usb keyboard can do that.In device manager, there's the power management tab in Intel Bluetooth, but the allow wake up option is grayed out.Is this a feature W541 doesn't support? If it doesn't, newer Thinkpad models do? I'm using the laptop with the lid closed for the most of time so that I desperately need this.Thank you

So there are a couple of times (not very often) when my keyboard OR mouse doesn't work after waking up my Win 10 system from sleep. What I do is to let it sleep and wake it up again and everything seems to be normal again. Not something major but definitely an annoyance. The weird thing is that when this issue happens the LED's on my keyboard or mouse are lit up so there's definitely power coming from the USB ports.

A:Keyboard/Mouse not working randomly after waking up from sleep

Sounds like somethings running in the background. Check to see if any devices are plugged in , printer, camera, usb flash drive... and see if removing them helps resolve the issue.

I have an odd problem since I upgraded my router, Netgear Nighthawk AC1750. On LAN connection, my laptop connects at Gigabit speeds. The OOKLA Speedtest app confirms this at 99-115 Mbps. If I put my laptop to sleep and wake it later, the LAN only connects at 10 Mbps, signified by the solid amber LED on the router and confirmed by the Speedtest app. I've tried a couple of things, such as updating drivers, setting default settings, and ipconfig /release - ipconfig /renew. At first, I thought I was able to restore Gigabit only by restarting my machine, but then I discovered that simply disconnecting and reconnecting the ethernet cable would restore Gigabit connectivity. Any ideas what's going on here? Any help would sincerely be appreciated.

2 quick questions: 1 Any driver that would allow touchpad to be automatically disabled on mouse plugged in?Synaptics ClickPad V1.2 on SMB port is what we have here. Official driver from lenovo web site for both Windows 7 and 10 doesn't have this checkbox. Other drivers don't seem to work at all 2 Disable wake on lid openUsually it has to be a bios option, I don't think it can be disabled in any other way since windows log reads "Wake Source: Power Button" when it wakes up on lid open. So probably it's a feature reuqest rather than a question. But any help would be appreciated. Thank you

So I just bought and received a Lenovo Y700 15ISK - model 80NV. Everything works great, but I've noticed that when the laptop enters sleep mode, whether on its own or not, when I turn it back on, it goes through the start up process and any application I had open prior will be closed.  I did some digging around and came across this. I followed what it said and installed the audio driver and BIOS v35 (and subsequently, v52) but I'm still having the same problem. Any ideas on a solution? Thank you in advance! I think it might also be worth mentioning that beforehand, whenever I put the computer in sleep mode, it wouldn't resume and wake up until I had installed v35, so part of my problem's been fixed.

A:Lenovo y700 screen doesn't wake up from sleep

Hi bouga ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking on the support site for   Notebook IP Y700-15ISK I7 , seems no BIOS update needed for this model.
Typically even on Win Vista and Windows 7 that issue with sleep has been related to hybrid features.

Method 1 : You may try to disable it using the cmd elevated for the command  powercfg -h off .
Check on this video link for the guide steps

Method 2 : Setting Power option to High Performance instead of conservation mode . then manualy setting sleep on the start icon

Continue to apply neccessary updates that may correct this issue but for the time being , you can use Method 2 as alternate solution if method 1 fail to correct it.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Greetings! I recently bought a new laptop, Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 15-ISK, with Windows 10 Home preloaded. I found a minor problem that happens frequently. After the laptop is idled for a period of time, 5 or 10 mins depending on plugged in or not as you know, the laptop first turns off display, then goes into sleep mode after another 5 or 10 mins. The problem is, after I come back and try to turn it back on, the screen stays black. However, I can see that the laptop is indeed responding by pressing NumLock, CapLock, or in my case, Fn-Space to turn on/off the backlight of keyboard. I checked and I have the latest windows updates and latest drivers for everything. So, any brilliant idea on this issue? Thanks in advanced.

If yes turn off hibernate mode as soon as possible!!! you will find a way to do it in the thread above. If it doesn't go back to normal and you are stuck with a brick then the only solution is to send it for a warranty repair. There is a bug in the bios which causes that.

Hello, I have a friend here who has a Lenovo Y700 and it has been giving an issue lately that he has made rather obvious constantly cursing and saying how much he hates his laptop so I decided I was going to come here and ask y'all for some help or advice. The issue he is having is with his keyboard. The only example I have of this issue is when we play Garry's Mod. The popular steam game. He can play for a while. We have a good time messing around with stuff. Then his keyboard stops working. All he can do is look around and when he tries walking, he walks in one direction and can't stop it. The only solution he has is temporary. He just shuts down his laptop then turns it back on, then the same issue occurs between 10 minutes to an hour or 2.We have factory reset it once and it worked for a little while but then the same issue came back and he is getting really annoyed by it. If any of you have a solution to this very problem or a solution to a problem similar to this, it would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hi all,

I have been getting random BSOD when I wake my laptop from sleep, especially when the sleep is done when the laptop is unplugged (ie. running on battery).

I have attached the recent BSOD dmp files in the link below:
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...hint=folder%2c

I appreciate any suggestions on how I can resolve this. Thanks.

A:BSOD while waking laptop from sleep

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

Please note the drivers below that date from before the release of Windows 8.1 (17 Oct 2013) - check to see that each and every one is compatible w/Windows 8.1 (at the manufacturer's website). If not, you must either remove the device and it's software - or locate a Windows 8.1 compatible update on the web. Removing some drivers may make the system unstable - so if you're unable to find updates, post back for info on the one's that can/cannot be safely removed.

The drivers that are struckout don't have updates available (AFAIK).
DO NOT delete them, just leave them be.

Beyond this, as there was only 1 memory dump in the upload, I have these 3 suggestions:
1. Get ALL available Windows Updates. It may take several trips to get them all
2. Start with these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics
3. If all of the hardware tests pass, then run Driver Verifier according to these instructions: Driver Verifier Settings

Greetings all,

I have been working on Toshiba laptop recently and can't seem to resolve its issues. Here is a breakdown of the system:

Toshiba Satellite L505D
CPU: AMD Turion II Dual core Mobile M500 x 2
GPU: AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200
RAM: 4GB PC2 666 MHz
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

Symptoms
When the computer's lid is shut or each reaches the preset limits for its power saving mode, the monitor goes black and the machine appears to enter ?sleep mode?. However, when the lid is lifted, the monitor remains black and the computer does not respond to mouse clicks, spacebar taps or keystrokes to awaken. The CPU fan is running fairly fast, but the screen remains blank.
I am forced to hold down the power button in order to reboot the computer.
The computer works as expected until it once again enters sleep mode.

Actions Taken
There are many options with this particular model.
The one it is currently set to is produced by Toshiba and is called ?eco mode?
I have also turned off ?eco mode? and used the recommended power saving option from Windows.

Results
Both modes produced the same result ? can't wake the computer.
It used to go to a Windows login screen when it came out of sleep.
Need to figure out how to get this back.

Thank you for your input and attention to this issue.

A:Toshiba laptop not waking from sleep

The error code KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR STOP: 0x0000007A states that the requested page of kernel data from the paging file could not be read into memory. It appears that there are some issues with the hard disk.
Use check disk command for any errors on hard disk -
Warning: Microsoft does not recommend interrupting the CHKDSK process. Microsoft does not guarantee the integrity of the disk if the CHKDSK program is interrupted. For safety you can back up your data before using the check disk command.
Use the check disk commands as follows:
 1. Click Start.
 2. In search window type 'cmd' and ENTER. Right click and select 'Run as administrator'.
 3. Type at the command prompt CHKDSK /P and press ENTER to scan the disk.
 4. Then type CHKDSK C: /F /R and press ENTER to repair corrupt sectors, if there are any.
NOTE: The root drive has to be C: and the command may schedule a task at the system startup, if it does, then press Y to schedule a task and restart the computer to perform chkdsk.

If I let the login time out after some time, the screen resets to the original login screen before I had clicked or hit anything on my keyboard. A hard reset will correct the problem, but the problem starts again when I enter sleep mode again. I've tried chkdsk /r, sfc /scannow, all the DISM commands, and an in-place upgrade last night. I really don't want to completely reinstall my system, but it seems like I might have to after this. The only thing I think caused this problem was when I changed the permissions of my boot drive to set me as the owner. I eventually reset the permissions, but that didn't help either. You are my last bastion of hope!

A:I cannot see any password box when waking up my laptop from sleep.

Modify the registry settings and check.
Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, refer to the article:
How to back up and restore the registry in Windows
a. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
b. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
c. Create and/or edit the following string (REG_SZ) value names with the appropriate values as described below.
> DefaultUserName: account user name
> DefaultPassword: account password
> DefaultDomainName: account domain, or machine name (if not using domains)
> AutoAdminLogon: set this value to 1

In order to wake up my laptop from sleeping I have to hit the power button. The Dell Logo appears and then I'm prompted to sign in. Normally with other laptops I just hit any key and it returns me to my desktop.
Is there something wrong with my laptop or is it normal for these laptops to have to hit the power button to wake it up from sleep?
Thanks.

Hello!

Just got a random BSOD when i was waking up my laptop (opening it basically).
This is the first time it happened... but i don't like blue screens
so, could someone take a look as to what could have caused it?

Thank you!

PS: i created another post recently in the crash forum section, and the
two posts are unrelated (not the same computer)!

A:BSOD when waking up laptop from sleep

Welcome
It is very difficult to diagnose a blue screen based upon one report. Your report points to a driver, which is often caused by a bad hard drive. Why not take the hard drive test and then report any new BSODS that you recieve. It would be unpleasant for you to have to take a multitiude of tests while we guess.

Hi, i'm new to these forums, so have some paitence with me.

I've recently installed windows 7 ultimate x 64 on my laptop:

HP Pavilion dv6700.

No hardware changes,just stock.

It almost always crashes (at a rate of 8/10) after I wake my laptop from sleep.

HiI'm using a HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j198ez Notebook PC running Windows 10 64bit.I have an external display, and it's the only display I need, hence, the laptop lid is always closed. The peripherals I use are:Microsoft Designer Mouse/Keyboard Wireless Kit - BluetoothWacom Intuos 4 Tablet - USBLogitech Rumblepad 2 Game Controlle - USB None of the above mentioned peripherals wake the laptop from sleep. And I am forced to open the lid everytime I need to use the laptop. Previously I was using a Logitech USB keyboard and a Logitech Wireless Mouse (wth USB dongle) - both were able to wake the laptop from sleep with no problem. Gave up on them because I needed the extra USB slots. I also have a Bluetooth speaker set, which led me to belive that the bluetooth connection of the laptop is closing whenever the laptop is going into sleep, since it starts searching for other devices to pair with. This would explain why the mouse and keyboard can't wake the laptop, even though I have checked the "Allow this device to wake computer from sleep" boxes, for both, in the Device Manager dialogue. Any solutions for this?I would also be happy if the tablet or gamepad would wake the laptop. But the "Allow this device to wake computer from sleep" check boxes are greyed out for these devices. Thanks in advance.

Hi there.

I first apologise as this doesn't apply to my current computer specs but to my friend's laptop. His laptop however is also a Toshiba Satellite and also has Windows 10 Home 64bit.

What seems to happen is when he closes the lid on his laptop his laptop sleeps as most other laptops do. But when he lifts the lid, not always but occasionally the computer wakes but with a blank screen. The power button and power, battery indicators remain on. It is almost like it has crashed/frozen at this point and a hard shutdown is required to turn the laptop back on. He claims that it could also have something to do with the large bulky 3d games he plays like Minecraft but it could be anything.

I have had a look at all the power settings both with the modern settings and old (control panel) and nothing seems to be at fault there. This also wasn't a previous problem as he had no problems with his laptop sleeping when he had windows 8.1.

Any help is greatly appreciated and I can provide more details if needed.

Hi,

Recently, whenever I wake my laptop up from sleep (from closing the lid and then opening it again), sometimes I get a BSOD.

I think it started when I updated the Intel graphics driver, so I've booted into safe mode, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, and I still get an issue.

I've attached the debug files, there was a previous BSOD a few months ago that I was getting due to a Nvidia driver issue, but I downgraded to an earlier version and it's stopped it, so I don't think the issue is there.

The last dumpfiles all blames your nvdia gpu driver.

Hi,
first time here, I have about a week experience (pulled out some hair) with windows 8/8.1, but I consider myself pretty comfortable with Windows in general.

When my win8.1 laptop is in sleep mode, I can wake it with a mere touch of my external bluetooth k/b without any issues, as long as the lid is opened. If I close the lid, I can continue to use it as its connected to a big Samsung plasma tv. But if I let the laptop go to sleep (or put it to sleep myself thru the menu), I am unable to wake it back; I need to pull it out from a/v furniture, open the lid and press the power button.

Is this a win8 thing, an Acer Aspire thing, or worse it can't be done?
Anyone else able to wake from sleep their win8 laptop w/closed lid???

Thanks

A:Waking laptop from sleep with lid closed

Try going into the power options and set the option for what to do when the lid is closed to "do nothing".

Hi Forums, I already saw that I am not the only one who has a problem with the keyboard on a Lenovo laptop. My keyboard randomly stops working when I am in a game like League of Legends (i guess it happens only in games because I use the keyboard intensely then). I just want to check if anyone has the solution to this problem. I already invested many hours trying to solve the issue (eg reinstalled Windows) and my next step would be to send it back to Lenovo and let them repair it (maybe change the keyboard). Greetings, Leesinovo

Hello, My laptop configuration:OS: Windows 10 64 bits (up-to-date)Model : Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK (80NV)BIOS : CDCN37WW Five days ago the keyboard suddenly stopped to respond (nb : the Num Lock led remained on). I tried to restart Windows but since it could not (stucked on the reboot screen) I pressed the power button and heard a "clack" sound. When I restarted the computer the hard drive made some noices and the fans started to turn at high speed for ~3 seconds.NB : I upgraded to bios CDCN35WW few days before. After the incident I updated to CDCN37WW.  Today the problem happened again (keyboard not responding). Before trying to reboot I unpluged and pluged back my mouse (Lenovo gaming mouse). As I expected, it did not function once I pluged it back. I tried to log out before rebooting. At that time Windows crashed and I saw the BSOD for 1 second before the computer shut down and reboot showing the Novo Button Menu (the keyboard was still not responding at this time).I rebooted by pressing the power button, once again some worrysome electrical noices while I was doing so.The computer restarted and once again noices from the hard drive + fans at full speed. Any suggestion ? Are BIOS updates bugged ?Thanks in advance for any help.
