I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A few days ago I had some problems with my HDD so I brought a new one.  To install Windows in the new drive I plugged in the DVD drive that Lenovo ships with the laptop and tried to boot from it. That failed and BIOS got like "programmed" or stuck with configurations that doesn't let it recognise any boot media no matter if it is a USB stick or HDD, no matter if I try to change the configuration of the BIOS it would always get back to the initial state of not being able to boot I even tried to reset it by unplugging its battery and the laptop battery but the only thing that happens is system time starting from 0 while any other configuration stays the same.  I thought this could be fixed using crisis recovery mode, but the laptop doesn't recognise the BIOS loaded on the USB and never make any sort of beep or alert noises, the screen doesn't show anything either and fans just get to 100% I really need help to solve this problem, it's like the BIOS got stuck in the last configurations before plugging the DVD drive in. (The Boot menu still showing that there's a USB booteable device even when it is not plugged in).

As you can see there are multiple problems that have come up in this notebook. I recently reinstalled windows 10 to solve some other problems. The installation went perfect and afterward everything seemed to work fine. When my wife turned it on the blue BIOS screen came on (as it did before the installation) and I was unable to use the touchpad, mouse or arrow keys to move the selection. I rebooted and it started up fine only the keyboard did not work. I had to use the onscreen keyboard to log in. Once inside, sometimes the keyboard works and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried using the f6 to toggle the touchpad on but it didn't work. The keyboard is touch and go and now the blue screen BIOS sometimes comes up when the computer is started. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've searched for solutions and haven't been able to find anything that works to solve these problems. I've uninstalled the drivers and rebooted for a fresh re-install of the drivers but that only temporarily fixes the problem. Thank you.

My bios can not boot any operating system, nor removable media. I have tried changing the boot sequence, UEFI to Legacy support, and Legacy first, and also tried restoring setup defaults but it is still not working. How can I fix this problem? I am using Lenovo ideapad 630. Thanks

First of all I want to say that I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had with my Lenovo. After I bought it I found out that Lenovo, for some reason, disabled the Turbo Boost option of the CPU. I tried to fix it by entering the BIOS but the options there were limited, so I decided to update the BIOS. I downloaded the BIOS update for 64-bit windows(i am running windows 8 which is compatible with the said update utillity). I ran the .exe and followed all the instructions (did not shut-down restart or anything my computer). After installing it automatically restarted and a Lenovo logo prompted on the screen followed by ">>Start PXE over IPv6, Press [ESC] to EXIT..." after that "EFI Network 0 for IPv6(numbers and letters) boot failed". Then ">>Start PXE over IPv4" which failed and a blue box poped saying "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert Recovery Media and Hit any ket then select boot manager to choose a new boot device or to boot recovery media". Pressed ok and got me to Boot Manager screen. Boot option Menu had only EFI Network 0 for IPv6 and EFI Network 0 for IPv4". What should I do?Note that I tried to start up both with and without the ethernet cable in.

I would try resetting the BIOS using the jumper, or by taking out the CMOS battery, wait a minute or two, and then replace it and try booting up. See page 73 of the Hardware Maintenance Manaul linked below for location of the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper (# 20) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m83m93p_hmm.pdf Clearing the CMOS (BIOS)1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. 3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. 4. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and pin 3). 5. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. 6. Turn on the computer and leave it on for approximately 10 seconds. Then, turn off the computer by holding the power switch for approximately five seconds. 7. Repeat step 1 through step 2. 8. Move the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper back to the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2). 9. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. Good Luck,

Hi Over the last few weeks i have been attempting unsuccessfully to fix my laptop, i have tried every fix i have come across and nothing seems to help. My problem is that my laptop constantly returns to the lenovo splash screen.  I have replaced the hardrive to an ssd as i presumed this may be the problem it detects the hardrive so i believe it is working as intended.  When i try to do anything fresh install of windows, change bios settings etc the laptop closes these windows and returns to the lenovo screen. One issue i can maybe see is that in BIOS information it detects two hardrives the samsung ssd i have installed and a liteonit lss-16l6g . What is the liteonit hardrive? i cant seem to remove it. Has anyone had the issue where it constantly returns to the lenovo screen even when trying to install windows.  Thanks

To make a long story short, I've been asked to help fix a friends mom's U410 laptop which wasnt activiting Windows 8.1 properly (Was Windows 8 OOB). After struggling with the activation for a few hours, I backed up the data and decided to just run the Lenovo one key recovery. During the recovery process, the installation had failed. When I attemped to reboot, no Lenovo splash screen was loading - just a black screen (although i can hear the cooling fan start, and hear the harddrive spin up. I tried to access the boot menu thru the novo button, and nothing would load; still a black screen. After researching for a few more hours, I had found multiple threads about bios updates required to be able to access bios with windows 8, and other threads about gpus on these units booting to a second screen (which i did test, and the second monitor does indicate a signal). None of the solutions on those threads have given positive results.   Basically, I've run out of options and am looking for some suggestions. The only thing that shows up on the display at anytime is the small blue novo menu when the button is pressed (normal start up, bios setup, boot menu, system recovery - all of which just leave a black screen). Thanks.

Hello my friends ! A time ago i bouhgt two Lenovo ideapad 100 14 IBY (FreeDos Version) and install Windows 10 on it with UEFI and GPT Partition Table. All works fine until i want to play around with Linux and install UBUNTU Mate in UEFI on one of them. The install was easy but the Performance on Ubuntu with Bay Trail and the don't working Bluetooth was a reason to switch back to Windows 10. After that the Problem beginns. The Bios don't let me save changes anymore (only time and date !). There was no UEFI ESP and GPT Support since i install UBUNTU and the Bios Menu looks like that:Bios Entries on a blank DiskBootingThe Disk is Blank there is no ubuntu on there (Don't know waht the EFI Entries are no Hardware is connected). And when I boot also go to Network Boot there.(No Matter a USB Stick is connected). So what i did: # I Dismantle it and disconnect Battery and Cell and wait half an hour. # Nothing changes !# I change the HDD. # Nothing changes !# Reflash the BIOS by edit the plattform.ini - CheckByBios=1 - Error Cannot mount EFI Partition. # Nothing changes !# Install Windows 10 - Make mbr2gpt.exe and bcdedit and bootrec. # Nothing changes ! I can install and run Windows 10 in MBR and BIOS Mode on it. But no USB Stick was displayed in Boot Menu. So now Iam on my Limit and the Question is there a way to put UEFI and GPT back on it or does the BIOS locked in this State. For me UEFI is MALEWARE so why can a simple UBUNTU damaged my BIOS and ... Hello everyone! I ama new user and i am coming up with this post as I couldn`t find any kind of solution for my problem.Recently I decided to do a reinstallation of my operating system, which also previously was Windows 7 Ultimate (x64). The installation went as usual, and after finishing it I went on to install all the latest drivers from the Lenovo site, for my product. When getting close to installing almost all the drivers i`ve needed, i stumbled upon a new version of the BIOS amnd the drivers and sfotware recommended for my laptop, by the producer. So i proceeded to install the upgrade, restarted the computer when it prompted me to do so, but after the so-called restart the laptop did not boot up as usual. At first it was telling me to not do anything as the BIOS is being flashed and then it was telling me something about some sort of image processing, things that i did not understand at the time (i have never encountered anything like that). After that my screen turned black. I have not done anything for a few couple of minutes as i thought it was supposed to be like that, but then i just force shut it down and unplugged the AC adapter. When trying to boot it all up again, the only thing i got was a black screen and nothing else. After doing a little bit of research it appears that, somehowm i`ve managed to corrupt the bios on my laptop or something, and nothing else would work at this point. I tried to remove the BIOS battery and the ram and then put them all back, trye... Read more

HI, Please skip to paragraph six for the actual issue I am having--the preceding paragraphs include info that may help to identify how to fix this. I am posting this using my HP desktop running Windows 7 as my Lenovo Ideapad 110 cannot connect to internet as explained below: Firstly, Sorry if I am breaking community guidelines in any way with this post. I did multiple searches but only came up with "forgot my BIOS password-how can I reset it" type posts. I am looking for urgent help to get back into the "BIOS" of my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 running preinstalled Windows 10. Everything was running fine until yesterday. This is when I made the mistake of thinking I knew more about the system than I actually seem to lol :/ So, yesterday--I entered the "BIOS" screen upon startup using F2 (function key+F2). I went on to disable wireless connection ability (to test something unrelated), and also switched Boot from strait UEFI boot mode to legacy/UEFI boot-with UEFI being the default boot option.  I don't know if any of the above have to do with the issue I am now having but I wanted to share it just in case. Here is the real issue as of now: Also yesterday at the same time while in "BIOS", I also went on to set an "admin password", the one you must type in before you can even get to the lenovo splash screen to enter "BIOS". Basically I believe this is referred to as a POST password although I am not an expert cleary (hence asking for the experts' he... Read more

I?m currently updating the BIOS of some Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 PCs and I came across a problem. The Flash UEFI BIOS update (provide by Lenovo) worked almost perfectly on the first PCs, despite it didn?t automatically open the console and started the flashing process.Anyways I did go on with my work. Almost all other PCs had the problem that when the second phase (yellow font)/ afudos.exe imagefb.rom /defans /capsule /b /n /r /sp started the afuwin.exe stopped working (it crashed). It seemed like the Update wouldn?t get done this way so I decided to try it with the USB Flash method, also provided by Lenovo, but it also didn?t work. my guess is that your cmos battery died and it wants you to set day/time.  There is no backdoor password.  The choices are remember the PW or replace the motherboard.

Hi. I have a Lenovo B50-30 mode 80ES. It was set to require a password on startup starting with a capital "A". While experiencing charging problems, amongst other things, I updated the BIOS to 9CCN35WW, downloaded from the Lenovo support site. Since updating, the laptop no longer asks for a password on startup (No big deal, I applied a windows password), however, when pressing F2 to access the BIOS (which I need to do, the F keys are the wrong way round), it asks for a password, When pressing to strike a capital A, the laptop beeps and doesnt enter it. It wont accept capital letters anymore, therefore it wont accept the pre BIOS update password. I have referred the laptop to Lenovo service, including returning the laptop, and they have been nothing short of useless. They said they couldnt repair it under warranty because of "Marks, cracks, inappropriate treatment" and it would cost 255 for a replacement system board. I really couldnt see why I should pay for an issue created by their support system, so I asked them to return it unrepaired. Upon arrival, the laptop was immaculate, so I dont know what damage they were referring to. Is it possible to downgrade the BIOS to a pre update revision, to change the password and then reset it to one the new BIOS approves of? Thankyou in advance.

Hello, I have a new T530 with Windows 8 OS. I am having trouble using the integrated camera. It functions neither in the Windows camera app nor in Skype. In both cases I get a picture with a gray background and a camera with a line through it. In Device manager, the camera does appear, is enabled, and the drivers are up to date. After looking through other threads, I tried checking whether the camera was plugged in and indeed it was. When using Skype and I set the camera to on (Skype did detect the camera), I still got the gray no camera image, but the green light on the camera itself turned on.I also tried using Fn+F6 to check settings. Lenovo settings opens, but the when I click the camera settings Icon, the screen loads a blank page that says "Camera" in the top right and has a back button (left pointing arrow) in the top left hand corner. The back button does not seem to work and I must change the window to something else in order to exit/close settings.I tried manually installing both camera drivers and "power management" ("energy management"?) drivers. Neither of this solved either of these issues. Please help me to resolve this problem. Thank you.

Hi, euterpenc

I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date in the system. The current BIOS for your system is 2.07 and can be found here. Also, I would ensure that the chipset drivers are up to date, and those can be found here.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes

I forgot my bios password. What should i do? Can i crack bios password?

A:Lenovo g50-80 bios

Hi ANiK_ ,

Welcome to the Community Forums,

Passwords are highly confidential info .Before, older computer can do manual reset doing the jumper and reset cmos but nowadays security for password access is now embedded on the chipset and would no longer rely on battery maintained storage. Many would offer their BIOS crack utility for a price and unguaranteed result.  Same reason why some CMOS battery would also be soldered on the board.

Solution : (Quoted from the document)

" To regain access, the system will need to be serviced to have the system board and hard drive replaced. Proof of purchase is required, and this repair is not covered under the warranty."

Check your warranty and give tech support a call.

Hi everyone,I have a couple of questions regarding swapping the CPU on used OEM Lenovo desktop I have recently bought and have been upgrading for my wife. The desktop is a Lenovo Edge 72 (3484 BCG).So far it has: an i3-2100 (2.0ghz) CPU / 8GB ram / GT 1030 2GB GPU / 2 X HDD (1Tb & 500GB) / 450w PSU / Win 7 64bit.I would now like to upgrade the CPU, as the current i3-2100 was an actual swap done by the original owner. (Apparently the original CPU was a higher rated i3-3220)I was considering of swapping the i3-2100 (3.10 GHz) for the original i3-3220 (3.30GHz) that came with the system, or maybe for an i5-2320 (3.30 GHz) or i5-2400 (3.40 GHz). These are all LGA 1155 sockets, but I am not sure if they will all be compatible with the current BIOS or if there will be a potential power/tdp issue.Does anyone know if I can simply swap the CPU or will I have to update the BIO first? I am slightly confident that the i3-3220 will be fine, but I am not sure about the other two.The MB is the original OEM MB and the current BIOS is: F1KT54AUS.  The only other BIOS I can find for this system is: F1TK73A but I don't know if I should update the BIOS or if I can just change the CPU as is.As a side note: The reason I have picked these 3 CPUs is because I have the opportunity to swap my current i3-2100 (+ an old GT 610 2GB GPU) for one of them. The i3-3220 for free, the i5s for about 10/12. All of them used.As for the build, this a simple budgets bu... Read more

A:OEM Lenovo CPU – BIOS compatibility?

Any CPU listed here should work:  ThinkCentre Edge 72 Small and Tower - PSREF - withdrawn models

Check that the wattage is the same as CPU your system originally came with, if not, we will need to research the cooler capacity.  And check that the date on your BIOS is well after the announcement date of a model with that CPU.

Hello everyone,So, here is the problem: I accidentally activated Advanced tab in BIOS which hasn't been there before by pressing some random keys just to enter BIOS setup and I don't know which key apart F2 I pressed. Ofcourse the Advanced tab isn't there anymore after changing some stuff that I shouldn't have (disabled Hyper-Threading for some experiments and some other minor options which I want to change back to how it was). I was wondering if anyone knows how to access the Advanced tab in BIOS with a key combination or atleast put me on a good path on how to mod my BIOS (InsydeH20)? Thank you.

A:I need the BIOS Password for Lenovo G50-80

Good day and welcome to the community. There is no factory default / master BIOS password.

Furthermore, the only discussion surrounding BIOS passwords generally allowable in the forum is what is published on page 24 of the hardware manual: https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g_z_50_series_hmm.pdf

Regards.

There is no backdoor password.  You need to remember the password or replace the motherboard.  Sorry.

I tried the "Black Screen of Restart" problem. Somebody advises that BIOS must be updated. I have checked that I have cccn18ww whereas cccn21ww is available from my product site. The readme file clearly says that the update applies to my b50-10. I have downloaded it but updater warns me

What does it ever mean? Is it just crazy?

Hello, I have a Lenovo B50-30 laptop. 2 weeks ago I was able to boot in from ODD or HDD. Today I wanted to start the laptop and it said it has no bootable drives, and in the bootup menu it does not show the hdd, neither the odd to start from. I tried to insert a pendrive, but the bios does not detect it. I think, somehow the CMOS reseted.??? Unfortunately I am not the first owner of the laptop, and when I wanted to enter BIOS, it locks me out because of a bios password. I suspect that maybe the BIOS partly or fully reseted. (but then why the password remained?)Can someone help me with this? I just want it to detect the drives again. I do not ask for BIOS backdoor password, just want it to work again.   Thanks

I downloaded the new lenovo y50 bios version: 9ECN43WW released 10/22/2015.

However, whenever I turn the laptop on, it makes the fan whir up really loudly for a few seconds and then goes into the windows login screen.
The same thing happens when I turn it off: the fans accelerate and spin loudly for a few seconds then shuts down.

Is there a way to prevent this from happening or to revert to an older bios version? There is only the 9ECN43WW bios in my C:/ bios folder.

Thanks in advanced.

A:Lenovo Y50 - Bios and Fan Noise

Even when nothing is running on my Lenovy Y50, the fans are still very loud and spin really fast.

What can I do about this? I have attached an image of my task manager when nothing is open, but even if it is like this, there is still a lot of fan noise.
