I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi all,
Hoping some one can help me with this. I have Acer Iconia W500. It is wokring great in all situation except one. It has one HDMI output. I can connect it to my 24" LCD tv with HDMI cable and works perfect (I can switch between single desktop, clone, extend etc). When I connect to my LG 42" LCD tv using HDMI, the screen goes blank and tv says no signal. When I connect to the TV and start the tablet, I can see starting Windows on both screens. Seems once Windows is loaded, I get no signal on the TV from the tablet. It did work the first time and I was messing with the display setting and I think I accidently turned off backlight on the tablet.

I use logmein.com to remote into my other machines. I tried using logmein to connect to this, it works when the tablet is not connected to this TV, but once it it connected to the tv, I only see a blank screen. I also tried UltraVCN, I get same thing, blank screen.

I need to know if there is any way I can either delete the LG tv profile or something where when I connect the HDMI cable, it will revert back to default setting and the video will show on both tablet and tv like it does when I connect the other TV.

Sorry about long thread, but wanted to make sure I enter all the details of my problem. Below are the system details.

A:Acer Iconia W500 HDMI not working on one TV

I think your laptop is outputing a resolution that your Tv does not support, try lowing the resolution, or identifying your tv on windows as a second monitor and then choose the correct resolution.

some modern tv sold as 1080p, arent actually 1080p, they can just receive a 1080p signal and they then drop it down to the desired resolution for the input. This works fine for tv's and inputs such as sky or bluray drives as you wont notice the difference. but it can confuse computer signals.

I installed Windows 8 RTM on my Acer Iconia W500 Tablet today. I have to say for a tablet OS I am really pleasantly surprised at how much I am enjoying it. The interface happens to be pretty slick and responsive and the fact that I have a full featured OS under the shell makes it even better.

As a desktop machine, I am still wary as to how this is going to be. I can't imaging want to use the Metro interface as my main shell to the computer and the lack of the start menu really is a pita for most users.

A:Just installed Windows 8 on my Acer Iconia W500 Tablet

I am still using Preview edition. Yeah, I was pissed at not being able to use start menu. But there are so many Start Menu alternatives. Especially the one from Stardock http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/ is fabulous.
I guess, people would get used to not using Start Menu overtime.

So I have an Acer Iconia A200 with Android ICS. Since Win8 can only be installed on an attached drive is there a way to ghost or image Android so That I can try out win 8 and then when I'm done return the tablet to Android system?

Or is there a work around to install win8 on the tablet SD card?

Any suggestions?

Recently I downloaded software that was supposed to automatically update my drivers for me. I began to update the drivers and the updates encountered issues. Upon reboot the tablet loads to the lock screen with my picture, however no input devices work (touch screen, keyboard, mouse, etc). Every once in a while I receive a BSOD (I know the cause is bad drivers). I have tried attaching the keyboard and pressing shift+F8, however it is not working. I don't think the tablet loads usb devices until after it boots up so I don't know how to get to the system recovery options. I don't have a windows 8 iso. file anywhere, as I had upgraded from windows 7 directly on the tablet. Is there any way to update the drivers, or boot from usb to install drivers, or anything that might help me get onto the computer somehow at least? Please help.

A:iconia w500 tablet - no input

Hi, pmthunder22. it sounds like that driver program either gave you bad drivers, or uninstalled some of them. download a windows 8 32-bit repair iso from here: Windows 8 Recovery disk - 32 bit - Fix Your Problems burn it to a disk, and than boot it. click troubleshoot, click advance options, and run system restore. This should help. Download iso burner Here: Free ISO Burner

Hi, I have upgraded my Acer Iconia W500 from the clean factory Windows 7 to Windows 10.  I've made sure I have ALL the updates from Microsoft.  Everything works great EXCEPT I cannot get Wifi to turn on.  The button to turn on Wi-Fi is greyed out. Airplane mode is NOT turned on.  If I go to Network Settings, the slider for Wi-Fi is Off and when I switch it to On it just moves right back of the Off position.  I have upgraded the Wifi driver to the lastest driver I could find which is Qualcomm Athereros Communications 3.0.2.181 with a driver date of 3/12/2015.  I've tried uninstalling the driver and device many times and letting Windows find the adapter again.  Every time it recognizes the device fine and installs the driver.  I've even looked in the bios to see if the Wifi adapter was disabled there but there isn't even a Wifi option in there.  I've tried unchecking the "Allow the comptuer to turn off this device to save power" option in the adapter properties but that does not help.  I don't see any errors in the event viewer (or anywhere for that matter).  I can use the LAN adapter fine but it doesn't make it very portable if I cannot use the Wifi.  Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help!!!

A:No Wifi with Iconia W500 and Windows 10

Hey there! I recently had this same difficulty on my Acer One 10 series. I was frustrated with it for about two weeks! What needed to happen is that the driver used to connect to any wireless networks  did not automatically update to a version compatible with Windows 10. In order to download the correct version, the only answers I could find were to go onto the manufacturers website and download a driver from there. The problem is that you can't really do that as easily without wifi. What I suggest is use a different computer to go onto the Acer Website. Click the "store" tab. Then choose your country. On the next page, scroll down to the bottom, under "support" there is a link that reads "driver downloads."From here, enter or search for your model. Once you've selected your model, below there will be a list of driver downloads you might need. The one you want is "Wireless LAN"From the different computer, download this to a flash drive, then download it from the flash drive to the device with the issues. Make sure it's in an actual folder so it doesn't go away when you take out the flash drive (obviously).Once downloaded, go to the start menu, and select settings. click update and security, then recovery. click restart now under "advanced startup." it's gonna do something that looks like restarting, don't touch anything until it gives you the option to select "troubleshoot."once you've selected troubleshoot, select "advanced options", select "startup settings" then "resta... Hello,

My wife's parents purchased a Toshiba Qosmio DX730 (PQQ11A model). They recently upgraded to Windows 8 and the touch screen now does not work.

The problem is missing drivers (the monitor driver is reporting as a Generic PnP Monitor).

I went to the Toshiba site and selected the driver downloads for the appropriate model and installed a number of drivers, including the recommended NVidia display drivers. There are no drivers on that site that seem to install support for the Toshiba touch screen monitor.

Are there no Windows 8 drivers available for this model? If not, is there another solution? If so, where can I find them. Any help very much appreciated as they have a nice computer and purchased Windows 8 so they could use it with the touch features.

Thanks.

Hi

On the Toshiba EU driver page you can find the Win 8 drivers.
As far as I know you need to install the Toshiba display driver to get the touch function working properly.

I found this driver.
Please check if you can install this:

Linpus Gesture2Launch is a powerful gesture based application. It is also a useful all round productivity tool as it makes it easier and faster to launch applications or system commands on Windows 8 and help Windows 8 users who miss the Windows Start menu. It offers an alternative to the familiarity of the Windows Start menu by delivering productivity, speed and ease-of-use by means of touch gestures: simply write a gesture anywhere on the screen to launch an application or a complete a task like restarting your computer. By writing directly on the screen it means you don't have to swipe and tap through many layers of the Windows 8 unfamiliar menu system.

Linpus Gesture2Launch not only allows you to launch applications but also predefined actions like ? as mentioned above ? restarting your computer, turning off or on Wireless, taking a screenshot and locking the screen, among many others. In the case of restarting your computer you are clearly saving 3 or 4 taps and swipes as well the effort of negotiating the Windows 8 menu system.

A full list of features for Gesture2Launch Full are below:
- Create your own gestures
- Utilize the letters ?a? to ?z? as predefined gestures.
- Map gestures to any application in your system.
- In addition, map to around 30 commonly used actions, for example, Restart or Lock Screen.
- Easily map and then change mapping through intuitive UI.
- No restriction on the gesture and action mappings.
- Write on both the traditional desktop and Metro ... Read more

Hi. I looked into ereader programs a couple of years ago, and found most of them cumbersome. Things have improved since then... but not that much AFAIK.

Does anyone have a ereader app that they are happy with, that they would recommend?

In the ereader app I'm looking for - to use with my Surface 3 (not Pro), I would love to have included the features:

-ability to import generic .epub files
-swipe on right-side to page forward
-zoom text using two fingers
-easy on the memory usage. This only has 4Gig... not being the Pro version.

So far, I haven't found one that does all of the above... I found some that are good, but don't have any touch-screen functionality.

I have an Acer Iconia Tab8W Tablet which I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 successfully. I had to use a 32GB external Micro SD card as there was insufficient free hard drive space (It has only 32GB internal memory) which the upgrade routine catered for. I am now trying to install the Anniversary update from Microsoft but I am being asked to create enough space in the hard drive (at least 16GB) to do this. This is not possible without removing most if not all of the installed programs and apps. Is there no way I can update making use of the external 32 GB SD as I did before when upgrading from Windows 8.

A:Anniversary Update on Acer Iconia Tab 8W

Option One here is the best option to save an ISO file directly to you SD card:
Windows 10 ISO Download - Windows 10 Forums

Before upgrading my 32GB devices I run disc cleanup using option two here and selecting all of the options for cleanup:
Disk Cleanup - Open and Use in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Then mount the ISO file from the SD card in Windows and run setup.exe from it to do the upgrade.

ISSUEThe 720 touchpad and touchscreen are the worst.  This issue started out of the box before I had even gone on line.  When the touchpad does work, the right click/left click distinction doesn't work and I have to use the screen, when it's working, for the long hold until the right click options appear. When the screen is working, the ability to close a window and touching it just the right way is dubious at best.  I've tried modifying sensitivity, etc, in the control panel, but there is no difference.   When both window and touchpad stop functioning, I plug in an old HP mouse I have, but when I'm mobile, this means running the mouse down my leg if I don't have a surface to place my laptop upon.  And it also means carrying a mouse with me everywhere I go.  My line of work is often standing and walking with clients so  not really possible in my line of work.   RETURN/REPAIR OPTIONS AREN'T OFFERED OR ARE NOT PRACTICALTo back up a bit, I attempted to return this to BestBuy, but was four days beyond the allowable return date.  I contacted Lenovo, but it's all about mailing it in or turning the laptop over and being without anything for a few days.  Hard to find those few days.  I've tried to live it, but it's been an enormous killer of productivity, not to mention incredible frustration and some embarrsassing typos.    PAST YOGA BUILD WAS GREAT - WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE 720?My last Yoga 710 wa... First do a Power Drain

Remove AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Turn the computer back on and see if the Touch capability is now detected under System Properties,

The touchscreen stopped working suddenly on my Envy TouchSmart Sleekbook 4-1115dx. At first i though it was like a normal failure and that will get fixed by turning the pc off or restarting so I did not pay attention to it until now that I had restart my pc multiple times. Currently running win10. I started to believe it was because of an update a few days ago since it was when the problem started but all drivers and everything is up to date. I have checked for the HID-compliant Touch Screen driver and had to  show hidden divices in order to find it. I cannot enable it and when i check in the properties the following message displays: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." I have no idea on how to connect or how it got disconnected. I come from a similar thread but did not solve my problem. Hi there, sorry to be a bother.Like the title says, my touch screen stopped working. I went on to my computer one afternoon and found my mouse stuck in the top left corner, fidgeting. This was what I was expiriencing. (My touch-screen still worked fine at the time, but I still couldn't do anything or control the mouse, but I could tell that it was still working and it still responded.) After a bit of time and a few restarts later, it went back to normal, but my touch-screen then stopped working. I'm used to the touch-screen working incorrectly occasionally, and much like the mouse thing, a restart or two helps. It has now been three days and my touchs-creen still does not work. I've tried many of the solutions found in these forums, but to no avail. I am running Windows 10 and have had this computer for 2+ years.  Thanks.

Sometimes the tablet freezes & have to shut it down by holding down power button. Live Updater doesn't work, it simply does nothing. Thanks, and please, spare me the have you rebooted, updated, etc. suggestions

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 touchscreen notebook.  It works great for the most part except for the touchscreen seems to glitch out every once in a while.  What happens is out of nowhere the touch screen will start registering a click in the very upper left corner of the screen (as seen by the Windows 8 touch visual feedback) even though I am not touching the screen.  The clicking happens very fast (several times a second) and makes the notebook unusuable. I can make the clicking stop by touching and holding my finger on the screen near where the clicking is happening.  However, as soon as I lift my finger, the clicking resumes. To fix the issue, I have to do a touch screen calibration (Windows settings -> Tablet PC Settings -> Calibrate -> Touch input).  However, the calibration appears to be off using this method (I cannot swipe the windows 8 bar to the right) so I then do a calibration reset (Tablet PC Settings -> Reset).  This generally resolves the issue for a while. I have tried moving the screen into different positions and cleaning the screen but the issue still comes back on occassion. Any support would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks!

That sounds like there may be a problem with either the touch panel or digitizer on the screen.

My best recommendation would be to contact support in your region for assistance.

I recently downloaded Windows 10 onto my Acer Aspire E15 Touch and the screen went completely black after rebooting. Now every time I try turning it on it shows a flickering black screen. I am unable to click on anything let alone see the screen itself. I have tried leaving it on and even removing the battery multiple times but nothing seems to work. If anyone can help me solve this problem I would greatly appreciate it!

do you have the full model number or SNID number

have a look at this site
http://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
enter your serial number or SNID number and see if there are any windows 10 drivers or any notes about that PC and Windows 10
it maybe its not compatible with windows 10

First of all I was running Windows 8 everything was fine. Upgraded to Windows 8.1 everything was good at first. Months after doing so my touch screen started acting up. It would only work when I position the screen a certain way. So I stopped messing with it because I thought it was a wiring problem inside the computer. I would fix it later, And then sadly I upgraded to Windows 10. I noticed shortly after there was no touch screen options at all. It says there is no Pen and Touch. Today it was listed in the control panel so I started messing with it. Drivers were there all up to date. They said the Device did not migrate. It was 2 or 3 drivers listed for the touch screen and they all said the same thing. After a restart they were no longer in the device manager and no options in the control panel anymore. Please help me figure this out... Thank you.

What's the model name and complete model number of that Toshiba?
(2 sets of characters separated by a dash comprise the complete model number)

If that Toshiba wasn't tested for and doesn't provide driver support for Windows 10, you can expect some of its devices not to work properly or not work at all.
That tends to be more of a problem with laptops than it does with desktops.

They are labeled in the Quick Start Guide and the User Manual.

It appears that you will use port 2-3

[size="7"]I recently bought an Acer Aspire Z5700 for my son's b'day. Last night he rang to say the Acer Touch Portal software keeps crashing (all the apps - movie player, photo viewer, touch games etc.) The touch screen still works with Win 7 so I don't think it is a hardware issue. What are the options with such a problem? I don't have the computer in front of me, my son lives with my ex-wife, so I can't say what specific error messages - if any are showing up. So I hope there is a simple solution I could phone him about!Nick

Without valid error messages...or the system...best thing I can suggest is to use the warranty/support provisions of the manufacturer.

I picked up a W500 with the 1920x1200 screen however I found out this was the samsung model that had the horrible screen. I was just wondering if it's my backlight dieing or just the samsung screen. I know the W500 has a CCFL screen and those can get dim over timeboth my T60 and T520 are much brighterthe manufacture date is Febuary 2010

I am not sure exactly at what point it happened but I recently found that the touch screen on my Elite X2 1011 was not working. The pen still functions normally. When checking the pen and touch settings I can only configure the pen settings and only "Pen support" is listed in view pen and touch settings. The touch screen used to work in both the original Windows 8.1 and then also after upgrading to Windows 10. There have been no error messages and the event logs do not seem to indicate any problems; it is as though the machine has just forgotten it is a touch screen. I have tried reinstalling drivers, reinstalling both Windows 10, and going back to Windows 8.1 to no avail. I really loved this little device but ease of use is cut rather drastically without the touch functionality. Has anyone else had a problem like this and have a solution? Any help at all is greatly appreciated.

I guess it is safe to assume that this forum is not monitored at all by HP staff? Has no one seen this problem on their own devices?

I am not able to get my integrated webcam to work in my Lenovo Thinkpad W500. I tried installing drivers I found on Lenovo's website (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70600.html). The camera does not show up in the device manager or anything, and I have not been able to find a solution to this problem online. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
