Primary(default)Display not working..

Q: Primary(default)Display not working..

Hello,

I have a Gateway GT5228 - it came with XP and i upgraded it to Vista some time ago. However, I have had to do multiple re-installs since.

About 2 years ago, I upgraded the video card by adding one to the PCI slot. Its a geForce Nvidia 7100 - And ever since I have had my monitor attached to this slot and not the original display port..

I added a 2nd monitor now to my Gateway and only 1 monitor works - the monitor that is plugged into the video card I installed.

Then, when i go into "Display Settings" it seems to ONLY recognize the "nVidia geForce" adapter and I can not get the other monitor to turn on..
(See attachment of image of my dispaly settings). I have also tried enabling and disabling the drivers in Device Manager. (However, I did NOT try uninstalling/reinstalling as I was afraid I wouldn't get a display at all..)

*Again, I have both monitors plugged in, but it seems the computer does or is NOT recognizing the original Monitor Display Port when I bought the computer and ONLY recognizing the Video Card I installed..

**Notice in the images attached - that both 1. and 2. (Generic PnP monitor and (Default Monitor)) are both trying to display on the GeForce 7100 - or so it seems)

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello herbil,
The original video port is for an integrated graphics card, probably a 6100, when you fitted the second card, the 7100 in the pci slot it would have taken over as the main display adaptor, bottom line is i don't think you can run both the 6100 and the 7100 together, not on that motherboard.
Try and run both screens through your 7100.
On screen 2, check the "extend the display onto this monitor" box.
Try this and post your results, good luck.

Hi I'm using Window Vista Home Edition. I've been using an external CRT monitor with my laptop for several months without problems. To connect to the external monitor, all I do is tick the 'extend to this monitor' button then 'apply'. I can then move windows to the external monitor and watch movies.

However, since yesterday my laptop does not display images. I put on the external monitor and noticed that my desktop, icons, etc were all on the external monitor. Even worse I when I go to the display settings, I see that the external monitor is labelled 'default monitor'. On the Nvidia control panel it is shown as 'primary monitor' and has the number 1. When I try to set my laptop as primary on the Nvidia control panel it brings up a dialogue box to stop me from changing it.

To my surprise, I now have to tick the 'extend to this monitor' button to view images on my laptop, which is a blank desktop with blurred image and colour. Also I have to move the mouse to the left of the CRT monitor to get to my laptop screen, the complete reverse. When I click on 'identify monitors' it shows my CRT as 1 and my laptop as 2!

This is crazy! I need my laptop to remain as the default monitor, number 1, and primary. But it now seems the CRT has taken over as my main display.

When I power off, disconnect the CRT, and power on, the display returns to my laptop. But as soon as I connect the CRT to my laptop, my laptop display goes blank and the CRT takes over.

Hi.
The BIOS/UEFI  settings for Video - Primary Display - are not working.
My machine, shipped by Dell (not from a reseller) few days ago is equipped with the following components:CPU: Xeon E3-1245v6 with Intel HD 630 graphicsGPU: Nvidia Quadro P2000
The BIOS/UEFI firmware allows setting the Primary Display, in case more than one GPU is available. Within the "Video" section, "Primary Display" subsection the following options are available:- Auto- Intel HD Graphics- NVIDIA HD Graphics
Setting the primary graphics to Intel does not have any effect. Nvidia is still being used for graphics output during the boot process.
Am I correct when assuming a BIOS/UEFI fault here?
Cheers,Christoph
Edit: To clarify - Intel HD works properly once the Nvidia card is being removed from the system. I've been also replacing the Nvidia card with a much older (PCIe 2.0) AMD Radeon card. Same result here - only the AMD card is being used, in spite of Intel HD being selected as the primary display.

Hi everyone, Hope all is well. I'm running a T470S.  I have a primary display  (Samsung Syncmaster SA350) and my laptop screen is extended. Recently, I've been doing a lot of graphic design work and image editing.  After a bit of work and comparing my images on my mobile device, laptop monitor and LED monitor (HDMI), I realized the LED monitor is not crisp.  My images and graphics are a bit blurry, slightly pixilized (poor quality), and the color is off.  I've spent several hours playing with graphic settings and updating all of the drivers but I've had no luck getting it even close. I'm wondering if anyone can assist with either or option: 1.  Suggestions on how to fix the issue?2. Buy a new monitor if needed, are there any suggestions on a monitor that will give me crisp and realistic graphics? Thanks!

I got 2x MSI GTX 460 Cyclone OE 1GB in SLI and would like to somehow make Windows use the bottom one and leave the top one alone?

For example when using Firefox I would like it to load the bottom one, so that the top one remains as cool as possible.

The only way I managed to do it is by turning SLI off and then plugging the monitor cable into the bottom one. Then whenever I load a video or star scrolling furiously only the clocks of the bottom one increases.

A:Default/Primary card in SLI setup

You can't do that, unfortunately. The top card will always be the primary card. The "power" from the second card is shifted across to the primary card.

Hi all!

I have PC on Asus P5B-V motherboard with integrated video card (Intel G965 based). It looks like the integrated video came to it end after a voltage jump. I tried to reanimate the PC by using PCI or PCI-e card, but I didn't found any jumpers on the MB except one resetting bios. Switching between graphics cards are possible from BIOS which I cannot see, and it looks that the default option is IGD.
May anybody suggest something or it will be better to throw this MB to waste bin?
Thanks in advance!

PS. I?m first time here ? sorry if I used incorrect sub-forum (and eternal sorry for my non-native English)

A:Integrated graphics card dead, it was primary by default

Well, here's what I would try. If you have the manual that came with the motherboard you can have a look and see what the BIOS layout looks like. After you've studied that a bit, try turning the computer on and navigating through the BIOS (without actually seeing it) by memory. You may be able to switch from onboard to a dedicated device that way. I know that sounds a little dull but it's gonna be tricky without having anything to look at.

Hi Friends .
I bought a HP laptop(Pavilion dv3) , It has 4 primary partition by default (System , Recovery , C: and another 109MB one) . I need more partition and of course unable to create logical partitions. On the other hand i am not sure to delete any of mentioned partitions . I don't know what to do .
I've created recovery disks , so can i delete recovery partition without emerging any problem no ?
Thanks !

Hello Arminm, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you post a screenshot of your Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) window showing the complete HDD layout to see if anything may stand out?

What happens to prevent you from creating a logical (extended) partition? You might see if the tutorial below may be able to help your shrink the C: drive to create a logical partition with the unallocated space.

Hope this helps for now,

Since yesterday's Windows 7 patch, my primary display (left-side, on DVI, not connected to my single-VGA-monitor type KVM) loses signal from my Nvidia GT 240 when I switch my KVM's focus back to my Win7 system, and my second display (right-side, on VGA, connected to my KVM) becomes the only display (with Start button and all) as if I had disabled my left-side display. When the KVM is switched to another sytem, my left monitor gives me access to the primary Win7 display via a second mouse and keyboard and this still works fine - until I switch back to Win7. When I enter the Screen Resolution tool and click the Detect button, my dual-view configuration is instantly restored.

This problem did not occur before the latest patch install, which required a shutdown. Is this a known problem? Is there any way to prevent my primary monitor from being cut off when returning the KVM focus to my Win7 system?

Hello guys! I really need someones help. I my video card is nvidia geforce gt 520mx
So this is what happened:
Right Click on background > Screen Resolution. I accidentally switched the display that shows everything that happens in the monitor to the one that does not.

Here is a picture I made using my other computer:
http://img839.imageshack.us/img839/5...tiawdwtled.png

I pressed "Detect" and after it showed 2 more blanked displays.
In the "Display" there was something like "Only show display 1" (which is a default display) and "Only show Display 2" which is the display from geforce 520.

I wanted to get rid of the other displays, but accidentally pressed on "Only show display 2"
So now my laptop does not display anything, it became blank.

When I restart laptop and click on "Start Windows Normally" it shows Windows starting and then everything becomes blank.
When I restart laptop using "Safe Mode", the computer starts but I cannot change the display to the default one, it shows totally different display.
Here is a picture I made in safe mode:
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/2...0609122803.jpg

What can I do to solve this? I tried to do "System Restore" in safe mode but it shows some weird window

What you have is a discrete video chip rather than a graphics card.

Have a look at this thread on the issue.

Windows is not using my NVIDIA GEFORCE

You might also want to check with Dell Support as you're likely to get some answers - the consensus seems to be that you need to download the drivers from Dell and reinstall them.

Having recently received an HP ZBook 15 I was going over the system when I discovered odd behavior that I am now trying to correct.  This ZBook 15 has i7 with Intel Graphics as well as a Nvidia quadro K2100M board (the i7 graphics have 512M of video Ram and the Nvidia has 2G of video Ram).  I want to use the more advanced Nvidia board on the primary laptop display and cannot seem to configure this as such (my past HP Elitebook Mobile Workstations have always allowed this).  Additionally, the docking station (not the advanced version) will not allow dual displays with this new ZBook where all my other HP laptops do (8440w for example).  Please assist as this seems extremely "lame" (for lack of a better term) to buy a high end laptop and not be able to use the advanced graphics adaptor.  I am using Windows 8.1 Enterprise x64 as an operating system on this and have installed all the "latest" drivers from the HP Support Site (as well as all the latest Windows updates).

Hi,

I reinstalled Windows recently on my Thinkpad T60, and after installing the ATI drivers for my video card, everything's been fine except my computer thinks that the laptop monitor is the seconday monitor although it makes it the primary monitor (I say it thinks its secondary because it acts like a secondary monitor in that its display settings are more limited i.e. it has fewer screen resolution settings and won't play modern high-graphics games, all of which it played fine before I reinstalled windows, the drivers, etc.

So basically what I'm trying to do is get the ATI mobility x1400 to recognize my laptop monitor as the primary monitor on my computer and give it the max graphics settings.

Any suggestions?

My humble laptop has an Intel Extreme integrated graphics chip. Since I don’t do any 3D, this serves me fine. It has multiple monitor support that enables me to use either the laptop’s LCD screen or an external monitor, OR both together in CLONE mode (i.e. identical display on both), or in EXTENDED mode, where each monitor can be set to attributes appropriate for itself (e.g. one can use different resolutions for each monitor), and one can travel from one monitor to the other.

In EXTENDED mode, there are Primary and Secondary monitors. Functionally, the only difference I see between Primary and Secondary is that the Primary has the taskbar, and when you start an application, its window automatically goes to the Primary (usually), from where, if you wish, you can drag it to the Secondary and work from there. It is possible to move the taskbar to the Secondary, but the window of a started application will still start in the Primary.

The Intel driver/interface has provisions that are suppose to enable one to choose which monitor is to be the Primary, and which (the remaining one, of course) is to be the Secondary. However, for reasons unknown to me and Intel support, in my configuration the only choice I get for Primary is the laptop’s LCD, and hence the external monitor implicitly becomes Secondary. Almost always.

One would think that there is something inherent in my hardware configuration that makes it impossible to use the external monitor as Primary, but, once in a ra... Read more

I have an onboard Geforce 6100 GPU and just installed a PCI old Matrox Millenium 2. Here's the deal. The first time i booted up, xp recognized the card and everything. Then using XP's display settings, I tried to enable to monitor. The computer then blue screened and i had to go into safe mode to remove the Matrox Adapter so It would be recognized again and so that I could boot again. It's now working but only because I changed in my bios so that the gpu in the pci would be used for booting and therefore the 1st monitor for xp. I've set the onboard gpu as the primary, but all this will do is change to it once the desktop loads up. While it works okay, I'd much rather have my computer boot up off the larger monitor as I frequently use other operating systems (Linux). What could be stopping the onboard gpu from acting as the first monitor for xp? Is there a way to tell XP what the Primary display adapter needs to be when both are installed?

This problem seems to be a stumper - 4 days and no replies. Does anyone know if this is more likely an Nvidia issue?
---------------------------
Since the 10/13 Windows 7 patch, my primary display (left-side, on DVI, not connected to my single-VGA-monitor type KVM) loses signal from my Nvidia GT 240 when I switch my KVM's focus back to my Windows 7 system, and my second display (right-side, on VGA, connected to my KVM) becomes the only display (with Start button and all) as if I had disabled my left-side display. When the KVM is switched to another sytem, my left monitor gives me access to the primary Windows 7 display via a second mouse and keyboard and this still works fine - until I switch back to Windows 7. When I open the Screen Resolution tool and click the Detect button, my dual-view configuration is instantly restored with all desktop icons back in their proper places.

This problem did not occur before the latest patch install, which required a shutdown. Is this a known problem? Is there any way to prevent my primary monitor from being cut off when returning the KVM focus to my Windows 7 system?

A:After update, primary display cuts off after KVM return

It's a typical EDID feeding issue with your KVM switch.
Windows 7 system requires checking the status of connected display all the time via the DDC-EDD channel from your connected display (no matter you connected it directly or via KVM switch). If your KVM switch did not support "full-time active EDID " feedback, the Windows 7 will "think" the display had been disconnected while you switched away/changed your target systems via KVM switch.

Solutions:
1) add "EDID emulator" put between the connected Win 7 system video output and the existing KVM switch.
2) Simply change the KVM switch which support "full-time active DDC EDID".

Hi everyone. I'm new to the board and really needed help with something that is bugging me. I recently purchased an HP Pavilion Media Center PC m8530f desktop. I did a few upgrades on it mainly installing a new power supply and video card. I installed the XFX Geforce 9800GTX+. I downloaded the latest drivers and disabled the Nvidia 8200 that was listed in the PC. It came with what I believe was a Nvidia 9300/9400SE card. After reboot and when I went into the BIOS to the advanced tab there was no option to select Primary Video Display or the option Plug&Play OS. For some reason I don't have these options. I called HP to figure it out with them and after 2 hours on the phone they told me they would have to take it up with AmericanMegatrends or whatever. Still haven't heard back from them. I have everything hooked up and the card is working but I know making the PCI-E or whatever the primary and disabling the onboard in the BIOS is generally what to do. I'm worried it might be slowing down the full potential of the new video card or something. I'm not the most computer literate person but I know a little. I tried to reset the BIOS by taking out the battery, etc. but nothing...I still dont' get those options. I originally posted this elsewhere but have yet to receive a reply, so I'm going to do a direct copy/paste, hence there being another post compressed into this one at the bottom.

I'm not sure whether this is down to a driver update, a Windows update or something else. It's been happening for about a week, and happens after a few hours on both 13.4 WHQL & 13.5 beta2 (yes -- I've tried uninstalling drivers and reinstalling, etc). Curiously, reinstalling the drivers does appear to delay the issue's reappearance.

My card is an XFX 7950.

Here's is what I'm talking about:

It happens irrespective of whether I'm overclocked, at stock clocks or underclocked. My temperature (idle) is about 50C.

If I disconnect the first monitor, the second monitor inherits the corruption immediately, and vice-versa.

This happens on both Chrome and a clean Firefox installation.

This only appears to happen when watching YouTube videos. Heavy gaming does not produce similar problems.

Closing the window with YouTube open usually solves the issue, however not always.

The only potentially relevant software I've installed in the last week is an Adobe Flash Player update, however I think this was after the problem first arose.

The only Windows update I've installed in the past week was a security update (KB2840149).

What on earth is at fault here? This is such a peculiar problem.

Was just doing some more testing with Nightly (Firefox) and it gave me a BSOD.

Hi,

I am fairly new to windows 7. I have it installed on a laptop with a screen resolution of 1440x900 with a Nvidia GeForce 9400M. My second display is a Samsung Syncmaster with a resolution of 1680x1050. Everything is working okay but the standard Windows 7 wall paper seems to be displaying at the same resolution as my laptop, leaving a 1 or so inch black border around it. When I drag my browser over to my second display, it does let me drag it from corner to corner of my second screen (full 1680x1050). I've tried playing with all the settings in the control panel, including the Nvidia prefs but no luck.

Is this just a Windows issue, or is there a fix for this?

Thanks in advance!

A:Desktop picture resolution differs from primary display

The black border is probably caused by the signal being underscanned. Go to the Nvidia Control Panel and look for Adjust desktop size and position.

Hello, i recently upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8 professional 64bit and after that my primary display adapter became intel graphics 3000 HD and my other display adapter amd radeon 7470 HD shown code 43 error. I rolled back the intel display adapter, which now is Intel HD Graphics Family (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM 1.2) and installed catalyst control center which made the code 43 error disappear.
I went to check it again and i noticed that now I have intel graphics 3000 HD again and no error on my the amd one.

However if i go to screen resolution, on advanced settings i notice my laptop is still not using the amd graphic card.
How do i change it?

I am running Windows 7 RC Build 7100 in VMWare 6.5. The host OS is Vista x64 Home Premium running on a Dell Studio 1535. I have a Dell monitor attached as a secondary monitor, and I am attempting to share the desktop across both monitors. While I can do that, Windows 7 insists on using the external monitor as the primary monitor, and if I attempt to change the main display to the laptop monitor I am greeted with 'Unable to save display settings.' when I attempt to save. This dialog is shown twice. Has anyone else experienced this or know of a workaround?

A:Unable to change primary display when using dual monitors

Same here! Any solution? Works fine, btw my monitor is the secundary and my tv is the primary. Microsoft can't make a feature to change the ID's of the monitors? so simple!

vista ultimate x64

Is it possible to uninstall the primary display driver with out accessing windows installer?
Bluescreened during install. Now i cant run anything. without seeing stripes.

I get device failure after about 5 hrs of uptime.
This time i though i would reinstall the driver, thinking it was getting corrupted somehow.

A:how do i uninstall the primary Display driver from vista safemode?

The new driver will replace the old. You will not be able to remove the default VGA driver.

What card, driver, and problem?

If you are getting device failure, it is probably not the driver. Overheating is the chief suspect, followed by insufficient power. But 5 hours would indicate that the power is probably OK.

I have a dell laptop running win xp. I also have a 19" external monitor. I want to use the dual screen feature in control panel/display/settings tab.

My primary screen is currently the laptop. How do I switch my primary screen so that it's pointing to the external (when it's attached) and once I get that set up, would I need to switch my laptop's screen back to primary when I use the laptop in stand alone mode?

When I have the external monitor available, I would like my newly launched programs to display on it as the primary screen.

Thanks.

Hello all,

I've set my external monitor as primary because the laptop screen is broken, via Q&A: How do I make an external monitor my laptop's primary display?.

However, when waking from Sleep the primary display is switched to the broken laptop screen instead of the external. If I hit Window+P on my external wireless keyboard, I am able to select the external monitor and then it will come on, most of the time.

Is there a way to set the external monitor as the primary after sleeping? Perhaps a third-party program or registry tweak? I've googled around and searched this forum, but have not had much luck. All drivers are up-to-date

I found this forum post which looks promising, but not sure if the solution proposed is applicable to my case.

Thank you.

I disconnected my main monitor (my main monitor is connected by a DisplayPort cable) to move the wire and reposition the monitor on my desk. When I did that all the desktop icons and the taskbar moved onto my secondary monitor which is connected by DVI. When I reconnected my main monitor I had to run through the nVidia dual monitor setup and respecify my primary display which moved the taskbar back to where is had previously been.

My secondary monitor is to the left of my main monitor. Next I tried highlighting a small group of icons and dragging them back to my primary display but when I release them they end up back on the secondary display on the right hand side of the screen that borders on the left hand side of my main monitor. I've also tried highlighting some icons and right clicking and dragging then to the main display and the releasing and selecting "Move here" from the context menu and the same thing happens and they end up back on the secondary display.

Has anyone seen this problem and have a solution to enable me to move my desktop icons back to my primary display?

A:Icons moved to seconday display, can't move them back to primary?

Right-click somewhere in empty space on the desktop. Choose "Screen resolution". In the dialog box that appears, click the image of the screen that you want to be your primary. If you're unsure which image represents which physical monitor, click the "Identify" button. Once you've selected the image of the screen that you want to be the primary, check the box that says "Make this my main display", and click OK.

Pretty much what I asked in the Subject line.

Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop's display goes obscenely dim a few seconds after windows loads up, safe mode, VGA mode, doesn't matter, and I'd assume just DOS as well. I can tell the bulb is off, as hinge area no longer gets obscenely hot. I can read what I have to with a flashlight so I can drag windows onto the monitor I've been using as an extension of the desktop, but is there any way to set that to my main display? (I.e. where the start menu and taskbar is and the such)

In theory there should be a way, but the "Use This Device as my primary monitor" option is greyed out. Anyway to override that?

Hi, it?s my first time here , i have a really weird problem , i bought asus prime z390 A motherboard to build it with asus rog rtx 2070 oc 08g , i7 9700k , hyperx fury 16gb 3000 mhz ram , the issue that the graphic card is not working on primary slot (x16 mode) only works on third slot on board which is x4 mode ; i updated mobo bios , contacted asus support and tried all troubleshooting possible and no solution, finally they told me that it could be mobo issue , i tried the same build on a new mobo ( asus prime h370 plus ) and same result this new mobo has two slots the primary is x16 mode and the secondary is x4 mode it works only on the second one;after contacting asus support again they told me that it?s gpu faulty ; i changed gpu with same model new one !! Same issue ; finally yesterday i shipped a new gpu rtx 2080 dual oc , and same result on two motherboards , the gpu and all build on x4 mode is working fine without any issue but only that i am not getting the best performance , the only two parts that i didn?t change is cpu and ram but now i am pretty sure that it could be some bios settings to check it couldnt be hardware problem as i guess

Hi everyone,

I need some help. I installed Windows 7 on the C root drive and I'm trying to merge the logical drive which is 90GB to make it one big C drive partition. I tried doing it during installation, after installation and I also tried a program called EaseUS Partition Master and every time I try to merge, the C drive is shaded out.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Screenshot attached

A:Merging Logical drive in to Primary - Not working

You need to perform this operation from outside the Windows boot environment.

Do this:
1. Download FREE bootable version of Partition Wizard
2. Write it to a CD/DVD
3. Boot from the CD/DVD to start Partition Wizard
4. First merge the 9.77GB partition to C:
5. Now merge the logical partition to C:

Reboot - job done.

I have Win7 ultimate, 2xNvidia 480GTX running in SLI and an ASUS VE278 monitor. It works fine using DVI but when I connect the monitor to the gc with the HDMI cable and switch the monitor to HDMI mode I get the Windows background, but no mouse pointer or anything to work with. If I try and boot the PC with just the HDMI cable attached the monitor says it can't find an input signal. Does anyone know what the problem here might be?

Now I have found out if I run dual monitor you can't use HDMI with S-vid or DVI at same time for some reason they fight Maybe this just something I have notice with vista and windows 7.

Guys,
I need help to my Dell Inspiron 1464 laptop. I bought it last 2010 and use it as normal computer. The specs is Intel i5 processor, 3GB RAM, 512MB Video card, 320HHD... I encounter display not working for primary and secondary display (VGA) when turning it on. It will turn on but there is no such activity was working on system, there is no beep or sound also which indicate if there is a failure on the hardware. I try to drain the static charge as what I see and read to the other forum but it doesn't work. Also, I try to dismantle my laptop and clean the terminal of primary display but it doesn't work also, and try to change the RAM but still doesn't work also.
Is any one have idea what should I do to this laptop? I suspected that the mother board or Hard disk is the cause of the problem.
Thank you guys.

A:Primary and Secondary (VGA) screen not working on Inspiron 1464...

Hi syvion, Unfortunately if the built-in LCD and also an external display is not working it most likely is the motherboard (as the graphics card is built-in). It looks like you have also tried everything I would have done. If you decide to replace the board the Service Manual can be found at this linkBest regards,Brad

When I put my laptop to sleep, the display would not turn on.  However, the HDMI output still works with an external monitor.  I reset Windows and the display worked fine again.  Then, after putting the computer to sleep, it went black again.  I don't want to reset Windows as there appears to be some type of bug in the BIOS/Windows drivers/Intel drivers.  Has anyone experienced this type of issue and been able to resolve it?

one of my children changed all of my display settings individually,IE:colors, font and size.is there any way to reset windows default display settings?

A:Default Display Settings

In Desktop>Properties>Appearance, if you have the XP style selected, switch to a different color scheme, click apply, then go back to the original and apply again. That should set most if not all back to default. A system restore would also work; just pick the most recent date before they changed things.

Not sure this is the right place for this thread, if not, sorry in advance.

I'd like Win7 to default to 'Extend these displays' under the 'Multiple displays:' setting when I dock my laptop. Anyone know how to do that? It used to work in XP, but I can't get 7 to do it so I have to manually change it every time I dock my machine...

Thanks!

A:Default settings for display

What happens if you just leave it set that way? That is what I usually do on my desktop.
