Q: Solved: IEXPLORE/EXPLORER error, think its the NIC + Internet Explorer??

I have tried installing (and d-loading drivers) 2 different NICs. I have the ability to connect to my network with out any problems. I am also able to connect to the Internet for a brief period of time, until i get an "IEXPLORE" error:

I also get an "EXPLORER" error, when trying to access folders on my computer:

And now, when I reboot my computer i get a "MSGSRV32" error as well:

I originally thought the problem was associated to the first NIC that i installed, however i tried installing a new NIC, and i started experiencing the same problems again. (i deleted the 1st to avoid any conflicts)

Also, when i installed the 2nd NIC i tried to d-load some windows updates, i first tried d-loading IE v6, but it halted on me half way through, and when i check add/remove programs theres nothing there to indicate i d-loaded that update (i think could be associated to the problem?? not sure)

Preferred Solution: Solved: IEXPLORE/EXPLORER error, think its the NIC + Internet Explorer??

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello everyone and thank you for participating in this wonderful site.

My computer is a Pentium 4, 2.80 GHz, Running Windows XP Proffessional Version 2002 Service Pack 2.
The problem I'm writing about has been there for about a year. All in all it's the same prolem ever since, but every once in a while some detail changes, like a new error message.
Every about 5-15 minutes the Start Menu Taskbar and the desktop icons disappear (Explorer crushes). Most of the times they reappear shortly after, but sometimes they don't, and then I use task manager to run explorer and then they reappear. Yet, sometimes the computer stucks altogether, and I have to restart. In addition to that, many popups open when I surfe the web using Internet Explorer. The popup changes every few days, but in between it's always the same one.
Another point is that while the crushing of explorer can occur anytime, it most often occurs while I open or close Internet Explorer windows.

Sometimes I get an error message, and as I said, they change from time to time. But still, here are 2:

rundll32.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x74725956" referenced memory at "0x00a10004". The memory could not be "read".

Click on ok to terminate program.
Click on cancel to debug the program.

Hi.. I don't know if this is the right section, please correct me if it's wrong. Here is the problem:

My Internet Explorer 7 gives the error: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I cannot complete the troubleshooting. It states that there might be a problem with my firewall settings. But my Firefox works perfectly on this computer. I have completed all the steps given in this link. However, it didn't work. I cannot run MSN right now because of this. And this is not a problem that developed recently, on this computer I have never managed to run Internet Explorer.

And another point to mention: Whenever I try to visit a site via IE7, before giving "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error, on the status-bar I see a warning for a second such that a "dns error" or something.

I have also searched this forum for this, I have found some posts consisting HJT logs but could not reached a solution for my problem. Could you please help? Thank you.

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

If it works, delete the shortcut on the desktop or taskbar, and create a new one.

Recently I have encountered an issue of one or more extra iexplore.exe *32 in my task manager window, that use high physical memory, when I open Internet Explorer. If I close the instance of IE I originally opened, they all will close as well. However if I browse on IE for a while, eventually the extra iexplore.exe *32 (single or multiples) get so high, that pages stop loading proper.

Things I have tried to fix the issue:

- Manually close the extra iexplore.exe *32 in the Task Manager. They immediately open again, and begin rising, unless I close the original IE I opened. Then they will all close.

-I have ran various virus scans including Malwarebytes, AVG, SUPERAntiSpyware, Spybot A&D, and Kaspersky. And even ran CCleaner after a scan with both Spybot and SUPERAntiSpyware.

-The problem, although primarily effecting IE, seems to go beyond. I attempted to browse through Google Chrome, and began getting multiple instances of it opening in the Task Manager window.

- At one point during my poking around the internet for a solution, someone had a similar issue, and it was recommended that they try temporarily disabling IE Add-ons, to see if it was the source of the problem. I tried this, and it did not correct the issue. In fact, I am pretty sure it reactivated the add-ons, without me having to go back in, and turn them back on.

As stated before, the main issue with this multiple iexplore.exe *32, is that it increases the Physical Memory to a point where pages will ... Read more

Dear Tech guys,
I badly need your support. Day before yesterday (01-Aug-06) night I upgraded the yahoo toolbar and used their norton anti spy to scan. Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash. If I do explore then there is no problem.

Below is the dialog that comes whenever we double click or open (for eg: on C:\ or any folder in the left side pane of the windows explorer. If I just keep expanding the + of the tree no problem, only on clicking the item to open the following error occurs.)

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

program: C:\Windows\Explorer.exe

This Application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I am running on Windows XP SP 2. I dont have google toolbar. I have yahoo tool bar installed. I have tried uninstalling it and installing it again and other combinations as well.

I have also tried sfc /scannow as well. It did not work.

It doesnt look like any adware or spyware (yahoo's norton spyware had done a complete run and no problems in the system as reported by them).

What should I do now to get back to normal operation of windows explorer.

Thanks and Regards,
Naga Kumar S

A:Windows Explorer Runtime Error (not related to Internet Explorer)

I would un-install the Yahoo Toolbar and then put Google Toolbar in, Then I would try to download .NET framework 2.0

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6b-356b-4a2c-857c-e62f50ae9a55&displaylang=en

and install it. If it tells you that you already have it re-install it anyway.

Hello,

System in question: Win2000 OS, IE 6 with all patch updates. Also use PC Cillin Virus Protection fully updated. For syware/adware, I use SypBot, CWshredder, Ad-aware, and Webroot Spy Sweeper.

This morning my Virus Software caught and quarantined 3 viruses from an infected Web site.

TROJ_VIDLO.E
TROJ_DLOADER.F
JS_PETCH.B

Immediately following this I began receiving the same error whenever IEXPLORE.exe or explorer.exe got activated. The error reads "explorer.exe (or could show IEXPLORE.exe) has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

I've rebooted many times and loads to the desktop ok, but when I click on either IE or an explorer.exe icon I get the above message, and I cannot proceed any further. The DRWTSN32.log just shows the application exception as IEXPLORE.exe or explorer.exe depending on which was selected.

I've run all my spyware/adware tools and successfully removed numerous parasites. All appears clean at least with these tools. A rescan of PC Cillin does not bring up any new viruses either.

It's interesting to note that in Safe Mode, all appears to work properly and I have full Internet access. Also, Outlook Express works properly in both Safe Mode and Normal Mode.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks - Bob

A:virus found still getting explorer.exe/IEXPLORE.exe error

Please do this. Click here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html to download Hijack This. It’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad. Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed.

Ok here's the problem, when I start up the computer it starts up normally and prompts me to log in, after that I wait for it to start up and it fails, it only shows the background. I can use the task manager to start programs and run just about everything. I cannot, however, run explorer.exe and iexplorer.exe. I've run Ad-Aware, Kaspersky, Ewido, Registry Mechanic, and tried to clean things up with TuneUp Utilities. I've also tried a repair installation and to find registry keys that someone said if we're deleted, it would clear up the problem. Unfortunately the keys weren't there and the repair didn't work. Anyone have any other suggestions other than reformatting?

Hello, I really hope one of you can help...

My desktop PC has suddenly developed a niggling little problem that means it is all but useless now. When opening most programs, IE, Windows Explorer and Opera the screen gets caught in a juddering motion that seems to act like the software is switching between Restore, Full Screen and Maximize functions, at the rate of about 6 switches a second. As you can probably imagine, this means the computer is more or less useless, and it's getting very frustrating. I've called the shop where we bought it, and got the usual "It's not our problem, try system restore, or restore factory settings". Tried system restore about 3 days ago, and no matter where I try to restore to it's having none of it, and then I got stop in a lovely "Packard Bell recovery program (which includes the system restore program)" loop, that stops actually being able to boot into Windows as it goes on a restarting loop, again, and again and again, until all of a sudden it'll boot. For this reason, System Restore is now switched off so I can continue getting into Windows. Programs not affected are Media Player, Photoshop, Outlook and RealPlayer plus others.

I assume this is a software issue, but I would really like to be able to sort this without having to wipe the whole computer.... Please can anybody help!

My cleanup includes, registry mechanic, (which i restored from the backup win2k mind you so no system restore), sfc /scannow, cookie cleaning via ccleaner, and a chkdsk. No avail and im ripping my hair out at this problem. Only thing i did recently was uninstall spysweeper from msn because it was too much of a recource hog. A:[SOLVED] DNS error in Internet Explorer 7

This is a good post. Very detailed.

Dess, what its told you is its a DNS issue with the browser. This isolates the problem the the browser settings specifically.

Try accessing google via IP address. I've recomended this test for the third time today.

Type this in the address bar "http://74.125.19.103"

If you can access google via IP you need to set your dns server.

Dns is a translator for domain names and changes them into numbers (specifically ip addresses) which are broken down to binary bits which is what a computer understands. If theres no translator between words and binary the computer wont know what to do.

Let me know if u can access google via ip and if you can ill tell you how to resolve this.

On some sites I get repeated errrors with different locations before the page finally loads. I see nothing not working once the page loads.

any ideas out there on how to stop the errors?? with some site (like our local library) it's a real hassle.
