Lenovo Idea pad 100-14IBY keyboard and TouchPad

Q: Lenovo Idea pad 100-14IBY keyboard and TouchPad

System: Windows 10 64 bitAfter turning it on from sleepmode the keyboard and mouse weren't working. So I restarted it and Windows installed some updates. The keyboard and the TouchPad still weren't working. The USB mouse was, also the FN keys. I tried the F6 button it didn't help, so with the screen keyboard I was able to log in and type the pass. After that I went to device manager and the Lenovo TouchPad had a yellow triangle. So I went to Lenovo website and downloaded the driver, uninstalled and installed the new one, restarted again - no luck. When I clicked on the mouse menu in control panel popped up a message that said "couldn't connect to the driver. Etc etc" In device manager even after the update it was with yellow triangle. So I saw in a thread here in the forum that sometimes the installing of Synaptics driver helped, but after that even the USB mouse stopped working and the FN keys too, so I am no longer able to log in to the notebook with the screen keyboard. I can't enter BIOS with F2. Somehow I managed to get into recovery and the USB mouse was working there but when I tried to go into safe mode I can't because of the FN keys. Any suggestions how to solve this problem?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, i got the Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad 100-14IBY Model: 80MH003TGE and tried to replace the interal 2gb ddr3l sodimm ram with 8gb ddr3 sodimm ram and the laptop won't start up, so my guess is that the mainboard does not support the normal ddr3 ram. When i switch back to the 2gb, everything works just fine.I even tried to update the bios, but that does not seem to do the trick either. Can anybody confirm this or has information on the subject?

A:Lenovo Ideapad 100-14IBY change the RAM

Hi Bontempi1950 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per product specification and Hardware manual (page 26) :
Memory:  DDR3L-1333 MHz / 1600 MHz SODIMM Ũ 1 (max 8 GB)

DDR3L socket on the board would only be able to accept DDR3L (low voltage) RAM
Inversely , the DDR3L would work on a DDR3 and a DDR3L socket board (backward compatible).

Hello guys, I just bought a new Lenovo 100-14IBY Ideapad without an OS. Installed Windows 8.1 and all of the drivers from the Lenovo Support page, but the Wireless adapter is just not working, it's not even recognized in the Device Manager. I tried switching the Airplane mode on and off again, checked the configuration settings in the BIOS and the WAN is enabled. I don't see a physical Wireless switch anywhere on the laptop and there is no "F" button for turning the Wi-Fi on and off on the keyboard.. so at the moment I don't know what else to do. I have also tried all of this on Windows 7 also, of course no success. Could someone suggest something please? Many thanks!

Hello, I like to replace my standard harddisk in my Ideapad 100-14IBY with a SSD. I have read the corresponding Maintenance manual and followed the instructions step by step.It is impossible to remove the keyboard without breaking it, it seems like it is glued. Is there any advise, other than sending it in to a service partner, how to safely remove the keyboard ? I just donīt get it why Lenovo really makes it so hard for users to change the drive in this particular model. Thank you in advance

The laptop came with pre-installed Windows 8.1 x64 and I wanted to install Windows 7 x64 Ultimate so I could enter it to a domain. I made a bootable usb with Win7 and reached the partition section on the installation wizard.
I deleted all the partitions that the system already had (Recovery. MSR and others) and procceded with the installation succesfully. After the installation finished, my system was not able to boot and it is restarting every time it reaches the
"Starting Windows" screen.

The partitions for the HDD in the beggining, looked like this.

I bought my Lenovo u31-70 two months ago. It works perfectly fine until 2 days ago the keyboard and touch pad suddenly stopped working but I didn't do anything special.  I tried to restart and eveytime it takes approximately 7 to 10 minutes for the screen to light up after I have pressed the power button, and only found the touchpad and keyboard still unresponsive.  Then I tried to call the lenovo support, they offered me several ways to fix this, even restore factory settings, but none of them worked. I found there are some other people had the same problem with me and the solved it by upgrading the BIOS. When I tried to upgrade the BIOS as suggested, it gives me the information that "The version of ROM file is the same as that of BIOS". I cannot install it. So the problem still remains. Does anyone in the lenovo support specialists team can help me with that? I'll appreciate your help very much. It really drives me crazy as I am in another country and cannot send my PC repaired here. Please help me!

Hello I bought a Lenovo E51-80 for my mother in law a few weeks ago.  I updated the Drivers and Windows, removed some of the Levono software, installed various software and then following the install iTunes and iCloud, then restarted, and the Keyboard and Touchpad stopped responding, apart from the Brightness Hotkeys and another Hotkey. When I put the PC into Safe Mode, the keyboard worked fine, but when I booted into Windows again it didn't.  I also tried Bios, but there wasn't any options relating the Keyboard and Touchpad.  I then did a System Restore to a point before I installed iTunes and this got it working again. It has since happened again a number of times, and I though it might have been a Windows Patch or something I installed, but I'm not so sure now and it seems to happen following a restart, and more frequently following a install and restart. I have also reinstalling the Driver for the Lenovo pointing device, but this didn't work, and each time, the system restore gets the Keyboard and Touchpad working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! So I've gotten an issue that occoured today, which have made my laptop more or less useless. So yesterday during school it worked wonders, and today when I got to school and booted the laptop on. The Touchpad WOULD not work. It would not move out of the spot, but the keyboard have also just done the same. When I try and press a button on the keyboard nothing happens. I currently only have 4 buttons that work on it. Which are F9(Turn display on/off) F11/F12(display light up and down) and Fn key. This effectively means I am locked out of my laptop without having a mouse and a  keyboard with me. Which I simply cant have to school. I've tried googling around, but no one seemed to have this issue!

I have a Lenovo Yoga 700 14ISK (ideapad) with Windows 10 64bit, whose keyboard and touchpad are refusing to work.Everything else seems to be running smoothly except for these. I initially was getting by via the on screen keyboard until I began borrowing an external wireless one. The following is what I knowReset to factory settings did not work.Optimizing OS in BIOS is enabled already (enabling this was suggested by Lenovo Support)THE ARROW KEYS WORK IN BIOS (??!???!?)An external keyboard works (I have used two different Logitech keyboards and both work)Before I sign in, FN+Space seems to work thus (re)activating my backlight. Once I sign in, it stops working. There's no updates for the keyboard driver.I have already tried to uninstall the driver, restart the laptop, and allow it to reinstall the driver.Disabling ymc did not help.F6 does not re-enable the touchpad.I tried a couple button combinations I've seen around for people disabling/enabling keyboards, but none worked. (Willing to try more though!!!) Any ideas? I thought it may be a hardware problem, but since the arrow keys work in BIOS; I'm not confident that this is the case.

Hi, I am opening this new thread to summarise some of the problems that a lot of us have in the hope that we might get an official response that solves the issue. I am facing 3 seperate issues and I am convinced based on what  read in the forum that they are directly linked. 1) Touchpad is laggy. While drawing a straight line on my touchpad the cursor will definitely jump a certain amount of space on the screen. In other words the movement is not continuous, but laggy. 2) While typing (happened 3 times in this text so far) the keyboard will miss keystrokes even though I absolutely pressed the key. I would say it happens in a frequency of 1 every 80-100 characters. 3) While working on battery, and it being charged >80%, a message will pop up saying I have 6% left and dissapear. Therehas been a report in the forum claiming that if you unplug the battery all the above issues will be fixed. Obviously all of us bought a laptop, not a desktop, and removing the battery is not a option. However, that report indicates-to me a least- that we are dealing with a power management issue. I would appreciate an official response from lenovo, or better yet a fix for our problem.

I have a LeNovo Flex 3 1480 [80R3] for about a year with zero problems. The only modded thing is a Sandisk 480gb SSD drive, with a Windows 10 installation from scratch, installed in the very first day I bought this machine. I was running Windows 10 version 1607 normally, and really enjoying this machine, but since last week when I was booting up, the machine freezed at bootscreen (the one with the lenovo logo) and then restarted showing the message "Preparing Automatic Repair" that took almost a whole day to pass. The repair never happened and I had to use the option to reset windows maintaining my personal files. After this everytime I boot up, windows 10 take up to 10 minutes to boot, and my keyboard and touchpad won't work, leaving me with only the touchscreen option. I've been through a lot of different solutions attempts:- Upgraded BIOS to the latest version (Lenovo colored logo at bootscreen)- Uninstalled KB and Touchpad drivers manually and reinstalled with Lenovo provided drivers, and also repeated the procedure with Windows Update drivers.- Disabled the fast startup option- Done the 15s procedure with the power button- Deattached the battery plug for some minutes and reattached- Checked (unplug and replug) both KB and Touchpad flatwires- Reinstalled the latest Windows 10 version 1703 from scratch None of the solution mentioned above worked for me. KB works perfectly in BIOS, and even when booting up I can change de backlight settings usi... A:Lenovo G570 beeps constantly on start up - keyboard and touchpad don't work properly

Shanuka,
Welcome to the forum!

Would you turn off the system and restart and see if you can go into BIOS?   If you get the constant beep on startup and are unable to press F2 (I believe it is F2) to enter BIOS, then it sounds like you may have a stuck key on the keyboard, or the cable for the trackpad or keyboard is not fully connected to the systemboard, OR the internal cables are pinched.   If this is the case, then I think you probably need to contact Lenovo service for help as it is likely a hardware issue.

If you are able to go into BIOS, are you able to move around in there?  You could try reloading BIOS defaults and reboot.  If everything works in BIOS and the problem is only in Windows, then it could be a driver / setting (less likely), but you could try to open mouse in the control panel and check settings.

But just based on the symptoms, it really sounds like either the touchpad or keyboard has a stuck key or is acting as if one is stuck due to the bad cable connection or a short.

Mark

As you can see there are multiple problems that have come up in this notebook. I recently reinstalled windows 10 to solve some other problems. The installation went perfect and afterward everything seemed to work fine. When my wife turned it on the blue BIOS screen came on (as it did before the installation) and I was unable to use the touchpad, mouse or arrow keys to move the selection. I rebooted and it started up fine only the keyboard did not work. I had to use the onscreen keyboard to log in. Once inside, sometimes the keyboard works and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried using the f6 to toggle the touchpad on but it didn't work. The keyboard is touch and go and now the blue screen BIOS sometimes comes up when the computer is started. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've searched for solutions and haven't been able to find anything that works to solve these problems. I've uninstalled the drivers and rebooted for a fresh re-install of the drivers but that only temporarily fixes the problem. Thank you.

Hello Everyone,

My problem started after updating windows 8.1 to windows 10, of course!
First the touchpad just stopped working, for no reason.

My solution was to uninstall the drive and restart the laptop. And from time to time I had to do this proceed. Two weeks ago windows updated, and the touchpad issue's gone. . Unfortunately, another one appeared.

The feature "mousekey", which is turn it on at ease access to use the numeric keys to use them as a mouse, It's turning itself on. And doesn't matter how many times I turn it off, few seconds and it's on again.

I've tried uninstalling the drive, which after windows the last updating was "ELAN".

Then I replaced by the Toshiba drivers, which is "Synaptic", and uninstalled the drives ,the problem is the same. Because of that, I can't use my numeric key, which is annoying!! If anyone can come up with something I will be grateful.

My laptop was working fine while i was playing (league of legends to be exact) when suddenly my fps went down greatly then i found out the problem was my laptop was running on 800MHz (using realtemp) and won't go up. I could not find the problem much less the solution. When i couldn't find anything i tried the one key recovery to revert to factory settings, but still the problem persisted. I found on the net that most people with this problem used throttle stop so i did too. It was working fine but then my charger broke (my battery is dead too, broke around a week or two before my charger). I thought that my charger was causing the throttling because my laptop worked great again after buying a new charger. But that lasted only for a day. It is now throttling again at 800MHz. I am afraid that something will break again but i can't seem to find the problem. temperature is consistently around 40-60 degrees C. Hello, I?m new here and hope that someone can help me with my problem. First the specs of my notebook:-Lenovo IdeaPad Y50-70-OS: Windows 10, 64-bit-CPU: Intel Core i5-4210, 2,9GHz, 2 Cores-RAM: 8GB-GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4600/ NVIDIA Geforce 960M-hard drive: 890GB HDD, 25GB SSD Since two months or so I have FPS drops in my games. I didn?t have them before. I?m sure that Fallout 4, Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite, etc. worked perfectly fine. But then it started. Here an example of the FPS drops:In League of Legends, which I had first installed on the SSD, I always had a FPS of 90-180. Sometimes it drops to 10-20, when in a teamfight or even when simply moving. I installed it on the HDD now and have the feeling the drops happen less often. The FPS there is 60 and when it drops 9-13. And that?s what happens in a lot of games. In Skyrim, Fallout 4, Bastion, Far Cry 3 etc. They just lag when I move or when fighting? For weeks now I have searched for a solution, but found nothing that helped? I did/have checked the following things: -Using the lowest settings. Drops still happen. Even if it?s not a high end gaming notebook, I?m still expecting that it can play games like Fallout 4, Skyrim, Far Cry 3 and LoL on the highest settings. The recommendations are met after all. These drops even happen in very old games like Stalker ? Shadow of Chernobyl?-Drivers are all updated. I checked on that several times already.-Removed malwar... Read more

I turned my Lenovo laptop on Friday to see the usual splash Lenovo on start up and then nothing else happened it kept continually doing that and going no further. Just so you know my laptop has no warranty left as I got it last Christmas second hand. I have been looking at demonstration videos on you tube and what I have tried so far is. I plugged in an external usb keyboard and got into bios and checked it was detecting my hard drive and it was. The next step I did was disconnect internal power/ battery and did the hold of the power button for 30 seconds to 1 minute  with the power cord connected only. And it was still doing the same. I then got advised to remove the cmos battery turn on laptop and then back off and put the battery back in. This has also failed to work so now I am looking for help here as I don't know what to do next and am hoping someone here has a different suggestion for me to try and hopefully get my laptop back up and running. Thank you in advance for any help given.

My casing A and B from my Lenovo U410 broke and I need replacement. I'm in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia  It's a simple thing if I have the part. I'm looking for a store in KL in which I could buy parts from old computers. Anyone?

Is there anyway I can set up 1 keyboard so that it can be used on two computers. I want to be able to use one keyboard for my laptop and my desktop. Maybe it could have a command where I switch between either one?

Example:
Type in a website address in internet explorer and press enter on my desktop then, press alt + f11 or something so I can switch to my laptop and type something into a word document?

A:Interesting keyboard Setup idea. hlp Plz.
