T440P Bluetooth Issues

Q: T440P Bluetooth Issues

Trying to pair a bluetooth headset and having all sorts of trouble. I have installed the Intel package, but still have issues. At one point I did have the audio working, but now I can't even get that to work. I was never able to get the mic up and running. In Device Manger, there are 2 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device" items. Windows update does nothing for them. At one point they were listed as Bluetooth Remote and some other Bluetooth device, but neither device could start. (error 10) I have 2 Bluetooth radios listed. (Intel and the MS Enumerator) I am able to pair the headset, but it just doesn't work after that. Spent almost all day trying to get this to work, ready to pull my hair out. Hopefully someone here can help me. When I do a 'connect' in Bluetooth Device Control, I get 'Error connecting to headset. Please retry this operation'. And FWIW, I have a T430 here that I connected to with no issue. - Jon

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I can get the headset to pair and start services for listening to music and I can hear through it but the sound is quiet and when the computer sends a sound to the headset (e.g. music is playing, or when "testing" the audio to have it ding), the sound is accompanied by a high frequncy noise. When no sound is transmitting there is no noise. I've tried two bluetooth headphones, most recently Sony 1000xm2 but the problem persists. The headphones work for paired with phone and my desktop computer at home but not with Lenovo T440P. I've updated Bluetooth drivers from Lenovo and that hasn't solved the problem. In device manager for bluetooth radios drivers listed are Intel Wireless Bluetooth driver version 18.1.1511.552 (10/9/2015) and Microsoft Bluetooth enumerator version 6.1.7601.23403 (6/21/2006). The audio sink driver under the headphone properties is Intel version 19.0.1604.618 (3/29/2016). I've tried disabling all the services under the device options except for audio sink but that doesn't help. I've tried using both the headphones or headset as the playback device, and headset is worse and has the same problem, so it's not that I'm using the wrong playback device. Thanks for any and all help

Hi everyone Recently I got a used T440p in good condition.Almost everything looks fine, however, I have a few minor issues: 1) Some base cover latches are broken and it can't be installed firmly. This laptop still has a few weeks of warranty left, is it possible to replace the cover? If no, where exactly can I get a cheap replacement (ebay and aliexpress offer insane deals)?2) I installed my ssd and it seems to overheat a little bit. When I used it in my old machine, the temp was around 36 and up to 40. Now it's around 49-50 at least. Should I worry?3) I have the same problem with my CPU (i5-4300M), the temp seems to jump strangely (or sensors haven't been calibrated properly). P.S. I'm a Linux user, so some software solutions can be irrelevant.

Hi,I'm having some trouble with the t540p in the UltraDock. I have a setup with 3 displays:- internal- external on DVI- external on DisplayPortThe external ones are connected to the UltraDock. I've got the problem, that the external monitor on the DVI-Port blanks frequently (about every 15min) for 2-3 seconds.Less frequently (about once every 1-2 hours) all external Monitors blank for about 5-10 seconds and you can hear in the speakers the Windows sound for disconnecting and reconnecting devices. Another abnormality I discoverd is, that when I use the t540p without the Dockingstation (but a power supply connected) the screen dims down to "battery level" from time to time (also only for some seconds) and the Battery-Symbol changes from "mains operation" to "battery operation" while the brightness is dimmed. This happens with both power supplies (the one shipped with the t540p and the one shipped with the UltraDock) Maybe these effects could be related somehow?Does any of you experience the same issues or has got any clue what could be the problem here? Best Regards,Andre

As the title states, I'm having a few problems with bluetooth recently; my laptop is not able to detect any discoverable bluetooth devices (in this case I'm trying to pair my bluetooth headphones to my laptop). Whenever I try to add a bluetooth device in the settings menu and press on Bluetooth, the Add a Device prompt comes up and is just completely empty. Nothing shows up on the window. I re-tested with another set of bluetooth headphones and the laptop also cannot detect it. I have confirmed that the 2 headphones do indeed work, as I can pair them to my HP laptop and phone. I am running Windows 10 I tried these methods before coming here: 1. Stopping and starting the bluetooth support service in Services.msc2. Uninstalling and reinstalling the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth 4.1 Adapter3. Changing the CurrentVersion value from 6.3 to 6.2 in Regedit, then restarting4. Troubleshooting Hardware and Firmware and Bluetooth. Also, I can't find the bluetooth option that enables "Allow bluetooth devices to connect to this PC" in More Bluetooth Options. Thanks in advance for the help!

I'm using a tablet PC running XP tablet edition.

I bought a little Bluetooth USB dongle so I can pair it with my LG VU phone in order to use the phone as a 3G modem.

I've managed to go through all of the steps needed in order to set up a connection, but the problem is that I cant get the tablet to "see" the Bluetooth signal from the phone in order to actually use it. On a brief occasion I can, when in "discovery" mode from the phone, get a pairing to occur, only to then loose it. I cant, on most occasions when trying to get the computer to discover the phone, even find the phone when it's sitting right on top of the USB adaptor!

This same phone easily pairs with my PDA running Windows Mobile 6.5.

My wife's phone easily pairs with the computer, and I'm even able to send files back and forth (I can do this sometimes with my phone), however her phone does not support tethering so I cant see if I can connect that way.

The Bluetooth control panel in XP does not offer much in the way of help, so I'm stuck.

If anyone has any advice on how to get this going, I'll be more than thankful!

Did the adapter work straight out of the box or did it come with a CD? If yes to the first and you didn't bother with the CD for that reason, it might be worth using it now.

My laptop has built-in bluetooth hardware. When I try to search for bluetooth devices to pair with, my computer finds nothing (device's BT is on and discoverable, also tried with other devices). The strange thing is that my phone is able to see my computer.

I thought that maybe the hardware had issues, so I went and picked up an ASUS USB-BT211 external BT dongle, it gives me the same issues as with my hardware BT. I even physically disconnected my internal BT in case it was somehow causing issues.

Also, I am having issues using USB-to-Serial to communicate with one of my work controllers, same sort of deal, my computer can't see the controller.

Is it possible that something in my windows software is blocking all COMM out?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

Hi Hopefully this is in the right place. Having some issus with bluetooth on new y70-70 touch. Successfully connected a bluetooth keyboard but on reboot this no longer worked. Upon investigation discovered in device manager the following in relation to my bluetooth device: "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer." Bluetooth is internal to the device so the option to reconnect it is obviously not on the table. In the process of troubleshooting I'd already discovered the following, an "Unknown USB Device" displaying the following error: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)A request for the USB device descriptor failed." The location of this device is "Port_#0007.Hub_#0003" I haven't been able to ascertain if this is anything to do with the onboard bluetooth but it occurred simultaneously with the fault so feel like it could be relevant. I've removed the bluetooth keyboard (can't readd it). I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall the USB device but the error persists and I've likewise uninstalled and reinstalled all my bluetooth drivers. In addition I've tried to connect other bluetooth devices without success. Can't seem to find any additional advice online, would greatly appreciate any help! J

A:Y70 Touch Bluetooth Issues

hi J,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you please try the following:
1. Create a system restore point (for backup purposes).
2. Uninstall the Bluetooth Driver.and reboot the system.. After the reboot, the bluetooth device should now look like this in the Device Manager

3. Download and run the Bluetooth Driver installer
     - this will identify the type of Bluetooth Device installed on the system (eg. Qualcom Atheros, Intel, etc.) and it will install a generic Bluetooth driver. If successful, try pairing the bluetooth keyboard and observe.

If everything goes well, try installing the official bluetooth drivers by navigating to the D:\Drivers\Bluetooth folder and check if you can connect the other bluetooth devices.

4. Run Windows Update to get the latest patch and bug fixes for Windows.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards

This may be a driver issue...

Try the Win7 drivers from the post here:

If your BT device uses Broadcom chipset the above drivers should work.

Hello, I got a new WLAN Bluetooth driver recently and I've been having a few issues with some devices connected through it: Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse: Whenever I boot up my laptop, the mouse takes a minute or two to connect, so I'm restricted to my touchpad till then. The same thing will happen when I'm turning on bluetooth/the mouse. Sony MDR-XB950BT bluetooth headset: My laptop will only connect to the Hands free telephony device and leave the stereo device disconnected till I right-click and select "Connect". These are just little inconveniences that I'm hoping to see go away, I've tried updating my drivers and making sure that Bluetooth turns on at startup through my task manager and the services, I'm not sure what else to do. Thanks to anyone who helps P.S. Sorry if this is two topics on one post, I wasn't sure if I should have put the mouse issues and headset issues on two different posts

Hi all,

I have the ACER aspire 4820T that comes with bluetooth inbuilt. I have the Microsoft bluetooth mouse 5000. I have al;ways been using it with no problems. Suddenly it stopped working.

As usual, I thought I can just re-installing it by using the pairing function under the bluetooth panel "Add a device". Best part is the wizard just keeps going and never stops. My mouse is already in pairing mode.

Next check under devices/printers and believe it or not, it appears as indicated. However under the bluetooth control panel (Show Bluetooth devices), no mouse. In the devices & printers panel, the mouse shows up.

I cannot use the mouse or do a manual installation.

I have also tried to upgrade the drivers for the bluetooth and still not working. Tried the mouse with another computer and no problem. Can anybody advise how to do a reset of the bluetooth module or settings?

Short of a complete reinstallation of win 7 (which I hope to avoid just for one mouse), I have run out of ideas.

Hope somebody can render any insight as to how to resolve the issue.

Thanks for reading.

So I bought this wireless game controller for my pc. I didn't really think it would work but I figured Id give it a shot. I plugged it in at home and set to trying to getting it connected. It didn't seem to be connecting to any bluetooth network, so I looked for bluetooth in control panel and it didn't exist. I found out how to turn on bluetooth, but it seems in my 'Change PC Settings' menu there is no Wireless option. I went to the windows 8 metro thing and searched for 'wireless' and again nothing comes up at all. I checked my network and sharing center and then to change adapter settings and Ive got my Qualcomm Atheros AR922x Wireless Network adapter there and the device is working fine, just not connected to anything. Does that even work for bluetooth and connecting wireless peripherals?Anyway, I dont know what to do. I figured it wouldn't work out like I said, but I at least want to know why it's not working out. Anyway, any help with this would be awesome.

I'm Having a few problems.

First off to make sure I'm not going crazy, wasn't there a Bluetooth toggle switch in the Charm/Flyout menu or what have you when you clicked on the network button on the taskbar in the bottom right on the desktop UI: It shows Networks such as Wi-Fi, Ethernet (if applicable), Airplane mode and (formerly) Bluetooth all of which (excluding Ethernet) with an On/Off toggle.

Next I have to go to Bluetooth settings to turn on my Bluetooth. Which wasn't the case at first. But now my Bluetooth icon disappears if it is off. That wasn't always the case, but I can't get things back to how they were.

I'd first like to know that I didn't imagine that the whole way through, as well as how to fix the issue and what caused it?

I thought it might have been a registry corruption, but I reloaded Windows 8.1 OS on my laptop.

The drivers were successfully installed so I don't think that's the case either. I understand this was moved in a year old update. I, however; was just affected recently.

Thanks you for taking the time to read that

Oh and the Bluetooth device works fine and shows in Device manager.

I cannot select the iHome to be my default speakers when I try to "Manage Audio Devices" in the Control Panel because it is not available. I also do not see this device in Device Manager. Under Bluetooth Radios in Device Manager, what I do see is the following:

Dell Wireless 355 Module with Bluetooth 2.0 and
Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator

When I go into Bluetooth Setting and attempt to "Connect" to the iHC5, it's there, but I am given an error message: "The parameter is incorrect."

With that, I'm all out of ideas. I'm just really hoping I don't have to uninstall and re-download the Bluetooth driver from the Dell website and remove and re-add the Bluetooth speakers because that's a nuisance. I've got a Dell XPS M1530 running Windows 7 64 bit.

Any thoughts? All ideas appreciated!

Oh and to add, I connected these speakers to my phone in like two seconds, so I know they work. I hope it's something simple that I'm missing on the computer....

I have a Dell Inspiron 9400 running Vista Home Premuim edition. Ever since I've had it the machine will never recognise the Dell bluetooth mouse when I turn the machine on. The fix up until now has been to disable and renable the Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth + EDR driver. The mouse would start working. However, sometimes when the UAC window would open the mouse would stop working.

Yesterday I had a problem with the 'user profile cannot be loaded' and I sorted this by using the procedure in regedit for renaming a .bak file described elsewhere in this forum. This fixed the user profile problem but now I can't disable the Bluetooth driver, the disable box is greyed out. The only way I can get the mouse to work is to boot up in safe mode, disable the bluetooth driver, reboot the machine, enable the driver normally (the box then goes grey) and hope for the best.

Any suggestions on how to permanent solve these problems?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 that I got in the middle of January. It had Bluetooth mouse (Dell) problems from day 1. I got a lot of personal help from Dell through phone calls that got it about 90% fixed. They finally said to get it completely fixed I would need to reload Vista which I didn't want to do. After another problem (driver conflict) with the notebook, I did have to reload Vista with Dells help. Since the reload, the bluetooth mouse has been working at 100%. Yes, I know that is not really good news.
At the time I had Vista Premium but upgraded to Ultimate after the mouse problem was fixed.

I am having troubles with choppy audio from bluetooth headphones.  The audio crackles quite a bit, and sometimes will cut out entirely.  I am specifically using Apple Airpods. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hello,

I have found the below posting thorughout many forums on thew internet. Maybe it has been in this forum as well, I apologize if it has been and answered already. I am literally having the same problem as this person below. Except I am using a pc with Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit and the Rocketfish RF-MRBTAD bluetooth adapter. I installed the CD drivers that came with it and did everything the person mentioned below with no luck. Rocketfish help on the phone is useless. They just blame everything on Microsoft. The cd installed a bunch of bluetooth related files in the following path file:///C:/Program%20Files/WIDCOMM/Bluetooth%20Software/

However I can not add a bluetooth device to the add device option in control panel.

Overall I want my computer to have the "B" for bluetooth in the bottom right in the task bar so I can add bluetooth devices as needed. Any help would be appreciated

If someone else owns this adapter and knows that it is just garbage please let me know and I will just return it to Best buy and buy the product below as it seems to have all good reviews.

I have gone to the control panel and attempted to update the drivers only to receive the me... Read more

I can tell you I have the iogear that you point to and it works like a champ for me.

Can you post screen shots of your issue? Also, though you say you've uninstalled and reinstalled, questions will be asked, so please help us help you if we ask you the same questions.

Thanks.

It shows up in the device manager, but the install which was suppose to create the icon for the bluetooth manager did not do so.

Have you checked your taskbar notification area (near the clock) for an icon?

Hello all,

I have a Motorola Rizr Z3 that I am trying to connect via Bluetooth to my computer. I bought a Bluetooth USB dongle and plugged it in, which shows as having installed with no conflicts.

In the devices menu, I selected Add Device, then set my phone as findable. Once Windows recognised my phone, I selected it, then selected to pair it with with a code. I've tried both automatically as well as creating my own pairing code to no avail. I get the system error below.

Adding this Device to this computer failed.

Adding the device failed resulting in an unknown error. The reported error is 0x0004005.

Contact your device manufacturer for assistance.

Does anyone have any idea or suggestions in regards to this one?

Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I just tried doing the same thing on my laptop, which has a 64bit install of W7 RC, and it's the same thing. So, I'm willing to guess it's not hardware related, as least as far as the computers go. The cellphone itself may be another story.

Try not to pair it with with a code.
You can add code later.

Hi,

Having a few problems with my bluetooth through windows 8 64 bit on an acer aspire v3-571. Wouldn't usually post on somewhere like here but I've tried everything I can think of to no avail. Main problems are with actually getting a bluetooth driver to install but if you have the time to read the rest would be much appreciated.

Just bought a new Airplay and bluetooth speaker, (cambridge audio minx air200) great for itunes but I also use spotify so the bluetooth connectivity would be really usefull as well. I've used a few other devices to connect via bluetooth and they work fine so no issue with the speaker. When I use my laptop to connect to the speaker via bluetooth though it either doesn't recognise the speaker or connects then states not connected after 5-10 secs.

I thought the only thing this could be is a bluetooth driver issue so I've downloaded a windows 8 bluetooth driver from softpedia Acer Aspire V3-571 Atheros Bluetooth Driver 8.0.0000.0206 for Windows 8 64 bit Free Download
I've extracted to the desktop yet when I try to run the file windows brings up the window to allow the program to make changes, I click yes and nothing happens.

Not sure what to do... Thanks if you've read through all that and I'd appreciate any help as otherwise it looks like my next step may have to be a trip to the computer shop which will be ?50 upwards

I've recently got a CSR Bluetooth chip. It installed properly as far as I can tell. The problem however is, that when I go to change setting to allow my comp to be detectable it tells me "An error occurred while Windows was saving your settings. The Bluetooth device might be unplugged.

The following settings were not saved:

Discoverability settings
Connection settings"

How do I get it to stop glitching the save on this?

I have an Arctic p311 headset, an Asus usb BT-211 dongle and use windows 7 ultimate x64. For the life of me I can't get this headset to pair with the dongle. I installed the drivers that came with the dongle, and in device manager I see this generic "bluetooth audio device" under Sound. I try to auto update but all is up-to-date according to my pc. When I try to get my pc to add device my pc doesn't read it at all.

Maybe I bought the wrong kind of dongle, maybe my pc just hates bluetooth, maybe I'm missing a driver(s), I don't know, I need some help on this.
