Lenovo T430S 3rd party battery

Q: Lenovo T430S 3rd party battery

I've recently purchased a used Lenovo T430s. The battery appears to be dead, so I purchased an EBK battery from Amazon. The EBK battery appears to work fine as long as the charger is not plugged in. Shortly after the charger is plugged in the system reboots. I've read that Lenovo laptops will not charge a 3rd party battery. Is this correct? At this point in time I can't be sure that the charging system in the laptop is functioning correctly. Is there a utility that will test the laptops charging system? Thank you,Alan

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was looking for a post for my issues could only find one from 8 yrs ago, so ere goes...  I recently purchased a Duracell 9 cell battery for my W530, worked for months without a hitch, until I performed a system flash, now I get the "Battery not supported and will not charge message", So I returned the battery believing it was faulty back to Duracell who replaced it no questions ask, Normal Service resumed, now the message is back some 5 months later, only this time I returned the third party battery and purchase a GENUINE lenovo 9 cell which was double the price of the OEM battery, however the message remained. The battery is correct the part number has been indenified as correct by Lenovo, but the message remains. The Laptop when new would have been nearly $3,000 (2,500) when new, but now the warranty has expired. The machine works fine which its 2TB SSD and 32 GIG of ram running Windows 10 Pro. Laptop is just 4 year old would be a real shame to scrap it over a battery..., very sad! Can Anyone throw some light on this issue, and keep the conversation on track

Hello: I replaced the factory Optical Drive in my T430S with a 3rd party caddy in order to add an SSD for more storage. I want to replace the SSD with one of larger capacity, but the caddy is stuck: it comes out ~ 1/3 of the way, then hangs. It feels like it is sticking in the rear of the slot: the T430S release mechanism does NOT seem to be the issue, but I could be wrong. It appears to be caught on something on the rear side of the NB. I removed the keyboard thinking I could coax the caddy out from inside, but no luck. I could probably pry it out with force, but I think that would cause permanent damage and make the bay unusable. Anybody have any experience with this problem?

I have tried calibrating the laptop using the hard drive test and the manual way, but it still shuts down with the battery after discharging 1000mAh.This battery I bought is a 11.1V 8800mAh battery. At 15% on the battery meter, the remaining capacity is 7890mAh.Here is a picture of the HP Battery Check: So I shuts down even when the battery is not empty. With this so far, I can say that either...1. The battery is sh*t quality.2. The battery is not fully compatible.3. The laptop can't take something with a larger capacity. Can someone help me with this issue? And if it is indeed a sh*t battery, where should I be ordering a 'legit' good quality repacement battery?

I have a T430 that will not boot when the battery is in the laptop.  I thought this was a battery issue so I bought a replacement from Amazon and the problem went away for about 3 months.  Now the issue is back so I ended up buying a new battery directly from Lenovo just to make sure I was getting a good battery.  Last night I put the brand new battery in the laptop and again it will not boot with the battery in. To be clear.  The laptop works fine when it is either docked or plugged in with the battery not installed.  The problem is only when the battery is in the laptop.  It blinks once and then shuts right back down.  I know the battery is good since I bought the brand new one directly from Lenovo.   Any suggestions?

As this is my first post,  Hello all! I'm a longtime Thinkpad user, appreciating my previous T60 and T400 for their repairability and durability.  I've just bought a used thinkpad t430s, and I bought a battery for it as it didn't come with one. My issue is, the battery worked fine the first couple times I used it, but now it drains instantly if I unplug from the wall. After I restart the machine, the battery says 0% (charging), and after a short while (10+ minutes) returns to claiming fully charged (100%). So far, I have updated the bios, installed the lenovo power management software, installed the lenovo power management driver, tried removing the microsoft acpi driver without the battery in, then turning off and trying to start on battery  (no luck turns off immediately as well, critical low battery error). I also did this thing someone recommended for battery trouble where you shut down the computer and remove the power sources, then hold down the power button for a minute. The battery health is good, it has had three charge cycles, and this number isn't going up with my little drop downs to 0% and back up to 100% whenever I unplug the machine. I would like help in figuring out if this is a problem with the battery, hardware, or software of the computer. I am running windows 7 pro 64 SP1. i7-3520M @2.9ghz. Thanks in advance!  Ryan

Hi and welcome, moreryanIs the battery Lenovo genuine, has Lenovo FRU p/n?Have you get it from the Lenovo related store?Could you make a snapshot of the battery surface labels with quality enough to recognize labels, symbols? As you can't publish images here, in the post yet, provide an external link. Also, as your OS is win7 and I hope Lenovo Power Manager application is installed, what are the values of the second half of the battery parameters (manufacturer name and followed) PM shows in the Battery tab? Make a snapshot as well.Answers and images are needed to understand whether the battery is faked since the battery for T430 should have HW authentication.

Hi Guys,
I have a dell L421X with a dead battery. Called up Dell and they said they didnt have stock for this battery anymore.
Thought to myself, I will just get a 3rd party battery and call it a day. The system boots but says that the battery cannot be identified. In windows it says plugged in , not charging. 63%.
As I understand it Dell deliberately denies 3rd party batteries from charging. But if they cannot even provide me a replacement, what choice do I have? Throw away a good laptop that is 5 years old?
Things I have tried:
Bios update to A16.Remove battery and drain any remaining battery (20 Seconds on Power Button)2 Different 3rd Party Batteries.AC adapter is Original and is fine as per BIOS reading.
So having said all of this is there anyone that knows of a Fix for 3rd party Batteries?
Tried a vhbw battery and a "Genuine" Dell batteries from ebay.

I continue to enjoy my i7 T430s, but wondering if it might yet be possible to upgrade? My T430s (with NVIDIA upgrade) enables me to dock and drive THREE external monitors - this is a critical requirement for me. So I would like to keep that feature, please, but would be great if 1) There might be a comparable or smaller, lighter Thinkpad that would equal or exceed the performance of my T430s? (While still driving 3 external monitors) 2) Same as above, but one with a higher resolution, native screen? I am mostly a business user and have no need to upgrade from Windows 7 if that might affect my screen options? Thank you

As per the query we understood that you are facing an issue with Bluetooth adapter on your ThinkPad T430s. This could be issue with function keys check with pressing Fn+F5 key and you will get an option to enable Bluetooth and Wifi adapter check with this option. If you are not getting the option then I think your system is not shipped with Bluetooth adapter, please provide the MTM (Machine Type Model) number which will be at the back of the system written on the white sticker so that we will confirm if the Bluetooth is shipped along with the sysetm.
Hope this helps.

The v4 gui showed up and after a minute it disappeared.Went to Lenovo website, installed the Lenovo Service Bridge to detect my serial number and machine type.Got the latest Lenovo Update, ver 5 and ran it.The critical was selected, selected the recommended and most of the optional updates. One of them was the bios updateAll the updates loaded and installed, bios last. Warning said to close down everyting and leave laptop power alone. Typical. I was not worried.Laptop shut down.Current state: green power is on. Fingerprint reader is off. This usually means the laptop is on. When it's off, the fingerprint reader flashes. I think the power button does, too. Laptop is unresponsive to power button and to the touchpad. Disc reader runs when disc is inserted. Tech support says wait for a day. Machine is out of warranty. Anybody have anything in their experience to help get this working? Thanks in advance!Pete

Just did a clean install of Windows 10 on my T430s (Core i5 with 8 GB RAM and 128GB SSD).When I attempt to boot the laptop it hangs on the Windows logo with the small circles rotating and freezes. This happens randomly and it will boot properly 3 out of 10 times. The other times I have to power it off and on until I get the repair console and then tell it to boot normally. Sometimes this will boot but others I have to power it off and on repeatedly until it starts up. I had the same issue with Windows 7 so I'm stumped if it's a driver issue or something else going on with my laptop? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Maybe a mistake? When the boot hang started i did various things like force power down and CTRL-ALT-DEL and on reboot everything would be fine. Thankfully.I have run the Lenovo Hardware scan thats part of Lenovo Solution Center with no errors.I have almost come to the point of doing a Windows 10 Reset but wanted to do some research first and found this reference to the same phenomenon.I am wondering whether it may be SSD related? I could try cloning back to a standard disk drive.I also still have the original Win 7 128GB SSD. I can also try that to see if the problem goes away. Will update if any further discoveries are made

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

I'm going to try un-installing Lenovo software and see if I fare better!! Yet another reason not to use Lenovo bloatware!!

Hi everyone! I have been dealing with quite the headache for a while. My Lenovo T430S laptop from ~ 2012 has been crashing a lot lately. The crash happens with I am running a web meeting, and also using a dual monitor set up. Also happens when I play a video game or run video on one monitor and chrome browser on the other monitor. The crashes were infrequent at first. The screen would scramble and freeze/flicker and the audio would loop loudly, the screen would go black and the laptop would reset. These type of crashes have become a lot more frequent and I have not pin pointed the cause yet. I have changed my hard drive and clean installed windows 10 (it used to crash on Win 7 too), updated my drivers, and ran hardware tests to no avail.
Has anyone come across this type of problem and fixed it?
I am running Win 10 x64 Intel Core™ i-7-3520M CPU @ 2.90 GHz 8 GB RAM Nvidia NVS 5200M Discrete HD 4000 graphics integrated
Your thanks are much appreciated. I hope I can fix it and not have to discard such an otherwise capable system.

After I installed windows 10 on my laptop, I tried to interrupt startup by pressing the enter key so I could install Linux alongside windows but it doesn't work.  I tried deleting windows off my partition but that doesn't work. I've also tried all the key combos and tried three different keyboards and they all didn't work.  Can someone help?

Anyone try or recommend buying third party battery? I don't need it but its a option for the future. Here is an example of a batteryhttp://cgi.ebay.ca/9-CELL-Battery-IBM-LENOVO-X200-X200s-X201-X201S-/200477548394?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Lap... Sound too good to be true.

A:Purchasing Third party battery

I would buy parts from Amazon.com. I do not trust people on eBay. Amazon is mostly shops getting rid of things at a cheaper price. --> http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=1278703606/ref=sr_nr_i_0?ie=UTF8&keywords=lenovo%20x200%20battery&rh=i%3... But yes 3rd parties are not that bad. I have seen many posts of other users buying many different parts and saying the work just fine. I buy 3rd party parts for the PC's I fix for people, especially for laptop power cords.

I have an XPS L702X that needs a new 150w charger and battery. I was wondering if:
Would a 3rd party battery charge with an official dell charger?
Would a 3rd party battery charge with an 3rd party charger?
Thanks

Hi,  What are the consequences of using a third party USB-C charger for the long term battery life of a ThinkPad? I have an X1 Carbon 5th Gen, which requires a 65W charger (official charger here).  What are the potential consequences of buying a third party multi device charger which supports a similar power output, for instance this one? Will it potentially just charge a little slower (if other devices are also plugged in), or could there be some unintentional degrading of the battery going on? I also have a google pixel 1st gen, which charges at 18W (official charger here). If I use my lenovo 65W charger for this phone, can the phone battery and/or the charger itself be damaged?

Hello everyone, I'm buying Lenovo Yoga 530 and also want to purchase a stylus for it.From Lenovo forums I already found out that this model supports at least 2 Styluses:1. Lenovo Active Pen 22. Wacom bamboo ink The problem is that none of these 2 are available within several days, I have to order them from somewhere and wait. So please tell me - which other active Styluses are compatible with this model. I'm interested in similar specs - 2048 or more levels of pressure, at least 2 buttons which are programmable etc. Thanks in advance

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

I can charge to 100% and it works fine until around 20% when it suddenly shuts off with no warning. I concect the charger, and turn it on - the battery gauge always states 0%.  why did this start happening - is ther something I can do, or do I need to get it to a lenovo center? thanks,Nir

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Despite the manufacturer's claim of 7 hours battery life on my Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKB - 81BN (S/N: MP1CHQTJ), I only get around 3-4 hours. This is with light usage, Reddit, a little bit of youtube etc. CPU usage was mostly around 0-5% the entire time. This was with the max CPU state in power settings reduced from 100% to 85%. However, I do have the screen at 100% brightness. As a different test, I tried doing (almost) nothing (apart from keeping the screen bright), and got 6 hours out of the battery. Is there a simple solution to increase this? It's only a 30 Wh battery (2 cell). Maybe in the future, a 60 Wh (4 cell?) one will come out for this model?
