Intel-Nvidia driver conflict - Lenovo z500 Windows10

Q: Intel-Nvidia driver conflict - Lenovo z500 Windows10

Machine details:Model: Lenovo z500Processor: i5-3230mGraphics: Intel HD 4000 [Integrated] || NVIDIA 740m [Dedicated]RAM: 8GB [Dual 4GB] running at 1333 MHzIssue:The nvidia just doesn't work on any version of windows whether it is 7, 8 or 10. When I install fresh driver, it works for a while till I restart the laptop. After the restart, gone! Please note: by "working" I mean for the preview which we see on "Adjust image settings with preview" page in nvidia control panel. If I don't install Intel drivers, that time nvidia driver works in that preview. Once Intel is installed, the screen flickers and goes to BSOD. I have tried all clean installations using DDU and even re-installing windows. Intel works pretty much fine though.Recently a month back I opened my laptop and changed the thermal paste which was gone bad. I applied the arctic silver 5 one. I don't see any temperature issues. Now in new update of Windows 10's task manager I only see nvidia GPU but not the integrated Intel one. I am unable to figure out the issue as what is conflicting. Is there some settings I need to change. I feel like they are conflicting somewhere. Please let me know what all is needed to figure out. Logs or any kind of report and I will provide that. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hey there.I got a Lenovo laptop with the above mentioned processor. This processor supports VT-D according to Intel: http://ark.intel.com/products/71670/Intel-Core-i7-3632QM-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz-BGAI'm running a V-sphere lab on my laptop and I've got into a huge problem. My v-sphere says that my host doesnt have "Directed I/O (device passthrough)" enabled, which means VT-D is not enabled. My bios version is 1.21 (latest i guess). There is no such option in the bios to enable, which is frustrating because in other computers it is built in their bios. what are my options? how can i force my laptop to enable it? Thank you, best regards!

I have a newish Alienware 17 R3 with an NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 980M graphics card, and apparently also have the Intel HD 530 graphics thingy running. I'm running two external monitors plus the laptop display, for a total of three screens - one direct to the HDMI port and one via a converter to a thunderbolt port. All three screens are connecting and displaying, but the NVidia card seems only to be recognising the primary display (only one display is listed in the NVidia control panel, and when I ran the Dell hardware diagnostic on the video cards the main display tested on the NVidia card, while the other two displays tested on the Intel HD 530).
This is not in and of itself such a terrible problem, except that the conflict between the two graphics systems seems to be causing some unwanted behaviours. In particular, the primary display will not support full screen video - a nuisance for Youtube etc. but really problematic for games with video intros and such, which run pitch black. As a more occasional issue, I've had system crashes a couple of times apparently caused by trying to run full screen video on the laptop display. As I say, I ran the Dell diagnostic wossface on the displays and video cards without identifying a problem, and of course I've done the basics of turning the system off and on again and reconnecting the external screens. Interested to hear if anyone else has had trouble with this, and any suggestions to get the system running ... Read more

Hello people.

I was wondering if somebody could help me with this annoying problems.

Im running XP with SP2 on a Dell Latitude D620.

At one point my wifi lost connection all the time even when the signal was strong. I had this problem for half a year.
Then yesterday i updated my driver for Intel wireless 3945ABG. The old driver was pretty old. I dont know for sure with version. I believe v5 or something like that.
I installed the latest version (v13) but now i have big problems.
When i rebooted the laptop it looked alright, but after 5 minutes i suddenly lost connection and the adapter was switched off for some reason. I wanted to install the previous version but the laptop hanged up. Then i wanted to completly remove the adapter so i could reinstall it but itg also hanged up.
Also, my mouse pointer jumpes all over the screen.
What should I do??

Thanks

A:Intel driver conflict?

HA, I have the same problem! if you are using wireless network then you Wireless Zero confirguration was deactiaved. to solve the problem follow my step!
go to start and open Run
Type in copy and paste: %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s
After that go down until you find Wireless Zero Confirguration. And double click it.
After that chose Server Type as Autimatic and press Activate OR press S.
Wait for a while the Wireless Zero Confirguation should Activate.

Also to fix you mouse problem is easy, (I know this sound weird but it works!) Spit in your finguar and smooth on the laptop pad, it should fix it, or you should by something called a computer Mouse.

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS L502x, which I bought late 2012. Recently the hard drive became corrupt so I've replaced it and installed Windows 7 on the new hard drive. I've just downloaded and ran the software to detect which drivers I need to install and have downloaded and installed all of them with the exception of the nvidia graphics driver which says I need to install an Intel driver first. I've searched the Dell site but I can't find the Intel driver I need.
Please can you point me to the Intel driver that I need to install?

Hi All, I use a P50 (20HHCTO1WW, BIOS 1.17 dated 12/13/2017, FHD, i7-7700HQ, RAM 64GB, Boot disk: Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SATA 500GB, Work disk: Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 1TB, Data disk: Seagate Firecuda SMR HDD ST2000LX001 2TB. I use this laptop for development of systems on top of virtual machines, stored on the NVMe SSD. These virtual machines are set to access network and internet through a virtual switch setup on top of the P50 WLAN interface. I would like to share regarding crashes I got after performing system update on Lenovo Vantage yesterday. After performing two updates (Intel Online Connect and Intel 8265 WLAN driver) on 1/16 6:09AM early morning, a BSoD occurred on 9:03AM. Upon checking the memory dump using windebugger, the issue was invalid memory read access initiated by vmswitch (Hyper-V Virtual adapter). Installed vmswitch.sys on my P50 is version 10.0.16299.192, time stamp 1/8/2018 5:32AM. Quite new. Upon checking for possible causes, I read on other forum regarding suggestion to disable VM queue on each network interface on all VMs. I changed these right away.  However, on 5:06PM same day, a second BSoD occured. This time the memory dump writing somehow failed, hence I lost the latest dump and also the previous dump (as it is overwritten by the last BSoD process). The bugcheck details from both crash occurences as registered on Event Log are similar thou. As disabling VMQ didn't solve the BSoD problem, I removed the Intel 8265... Read more

hello...

so my boot time takes a very long time (~5min) and i believe one of the causes is a faulty vga.sys... i copied the vga.sys from the windows\system32\drivers folder to the desktop and changed the sys into a txt file so that i may see some keywords from it... i opened the vga.txt and found keywords like the ATI and NVIDIA...

now the problem is that i have the Intel(R) GMA HD and not the NVIDIA... I just installed Batman: Arkham Asylum and it says that the NVIDIA Geforce #(some number) is required... are there any get-around from this?<-- i mean, to make my boot faster...

hoping for a solution... thanks...

Hi: Below is the link to the product specs page for your notebook. http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c04168240 Your notebook does not come with an Intel Skylake chipset (that would have an Intel 6th generation core processor). Your notebook only has the onboard Intel 4400 HD graphics, so the nvidia graphics driver on your notebook's support page is not applicable to your model. HP puts all of the available drivers on every model 14-n### support page.  Some models do have the Intel/Nvidia switchable graphics.

Hi,

I would like to get a clarification on the Graphics driver version numbering of Intel and Nvidia.

Intel uses the following schema to define the driver versions.

7. 14. 10. 1322
VISTA DirectX Intel Build number

For example, this driver works with Windows Vista* operating system and supports Microsoft DirectX* 9. The last four numbers represent the Intel build number.

Intel Identifier Operating System Version
8 Windows 7*
7 Windows Vista*
6 Windows* 2000 and Windows* XP
5 Windows 2000 only
4 Windows*95/98/98SE/Me or Windows NT* 4.0

Intel Identifier DirectX* Version
15 10.x
14 9.x
13 8.x
12 7.x
11 6.x

7 Denotes VISTA Operating System
14 Denotes DirectX 9.x
1322 Denotes Intel Build Number

What is 10, it denotes for ?

NVIDIA Graphic Drivers

NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS
Driver : 7.15.11.6369

7 Denotes VISTA Operating System
15 Denotes DirectX 10.x
6369 Denotes Intel Build Number

Can anyone help me to find out the significance of digit 10 in Intel and 11 in Nvidia driver version?

Hello, the weirdest thing has happened. I've read all kinds of posts of the nVidia GT 1030 card being compatible with fairly recent ThinkCentres, but after 2 hours of exhausting attempts I still could not start my M92P SFF desktop with a GT 1030. A few years back the excruciatingly slow stock HDD was replaced with an Intel 535 Series 480 GB SSD, and the first thing I saw after installing the GT 1030 video card was the message 'Operating system not found'. The SSD disappeared from BIOS. Removed the GT 1030 and everything is fine. Checked that the SSDs BIOS was of the latest version, updated the PC's BIOS, found out that it was booting in legacy non-UEFI mode. Converted the system drive to GPT, switched to UEFI booting and everything worked without the video card. I was sure the problem was UEFI-related, because even without the GT 1030, prior to switching to GPT, when attempting boot in UEFI mode, I was getting exactly the same message 'No operating system found', the BIOS did non detect the SSD. Having done all this, I plug in the GT 1030 and bam! Same crap. The BIOS does not see the SSD! But why? More this time, not only it did not detect the now GPT SSD, but a couple of seconds after powering up the M92P would not turn on at all, no matter how many times I pressed/for how long held the power button. It was making some sound from the speaker though, as if it was trying to power up, but couldn't, it was not an error beep. So I had to remove the GT 1030 once again an... Read more

Hi. Initially I had problem only with NVidia driver on Windows 10. It didn't work with code 43 message. I tried to reinstall driver several times but without success. After upgrading Windows 10 on 14th of November I faced another problem - driver for integrated graphic chip didn't not work too. Furthermore this driver is not installed even. After try to install it OS didn't not start at all and showed only black screen. I had to enter to safe mode and delete this driver to have working OS, working without all video drivers. Eventually I had to revert upgrade and currently I have only integrated video chip only again. My questions is how to solve problems with drivers. Is it only my personal problem or problem of drivers for my model of Notebook? When I had got Windows 10 upgrade at the beginning of August I thought it was a temporary problem with drivers and it would be fixed. But it does not seem so now after 3 months waiting.

The Intel express chipset and the RealTek sound are two different items. Intel chipset is the motherboard chipset drivers.

Check the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. The "Speakers" need to be set as the default playback device. You can also configure for the correct speaker type and test the speakers from this panel.

Nvidia drivers don't work for me, after a clean windows install it wont install at all saying my card is not compatible with the driver

i can actually install them after i install the official driver from lenovo page but they wont work after a restart

i posted this earlier as well they told me to just use the official drivers as they're best for your computer , i continued using them for a long time but i have a problem now

whenever i play a game alt tabbing out of the game and back in would cause a ridiculous amount of black screen its pretty annoying especially when listening music while gaming

after a research i learned this was a a driver issue , and i cant update mine , and also id like the newer nvidia drivers well they're of 2012's and lenovo's official drivers are from 2009

any help is appreciated

My display driver "Intel HD Graphics 5500" has basically stopped working. When it is enabled, it makes the screen go crazy (hard to describe), and it is usable but just barely. I can disable the driver and the issue stops. So far, the only problem I've noticed with the driver disabled is that I cannot adjust the brightness, but there are probably more issues that I don't know about yet. My computer is completely up to date, with both Windows and Lenovo updates. I have deleted and reinstalled the driver multiple times (including old versions) but every time the same issue reappears. I have no idea what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I can give more information about my system/drivers if needed.

Hi, I want to upgrade my Windows to the latest update (October 2018). But upon reading the Lenovo support website, it seems that it's advisable to upgrade Intel Graphics Driver to version 24.20.100.6286 and newer which is available with Intel Audio Driver 10.25.0.10. I have tried updating my drivers through Lenovo Vantage, but that only installed the Nvidia VGA driver, not the Intel one. I also checked the available drivers on Lenovo support page but the Intel Graphics Driver version I need is not listed. Am I missing anything? Is there a timeline on when that driver is going to come out? Thanks.
