Program to organize Firefox bookmarks and export them as individual files?

Q: Program to organize Firefox bookmarks and export them as individual files?

My bookmarks are a huge mess. When I used IE, I would go to the folder on the drive to organize them. Now that I use Firefox, I can't do that. I would like to find a program that gives me ease of organizing and will export the bookmarks as individual files, instead of one.

I'm interested in this: http://bkm.sourceforge.net/en/vbbkm.html but it's old and dead I think. Also I don't think it worked with Firefox.

I'm not interested in online managers and I don't have a real need for portability. I just want to sort and burn the folder.

Thanks.

Preferred Solution: Program to organize Firefox bookmarks and export them as individual files?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have Windows XP Pro, sp3.

In Firefox 2, doing things to your Bookmarks was apparently much more intuitive than in 3. In Firefox 3, there is seemingly no way to do things. In IE 7 there is a button in "Organize Favorites" to rename a Favorite but I can't figure out how to do it in Firefox 3. In IE 7 there are also buttons for "New Folder", "Move" and "Delete." I originally started this because I couldn't figure out how to rename a Bookmark. Now I know there is other stuff that I used to know how to do in Firefox 2 but I don't now with 3. Does anyone know how to do these things?

Thanks,

Under "Bookmarks" you'll find the "Organize Bookmarks" tab.
All the editing functions are there, but I don't know why they felt the need to change things.

Import/export bookmarks, cant get my HTML saved bookmarks back into Chrome!!!!!

I used to use Internet explorer, then Firefox, and now Chrome as my default browser.

I had to do a updated computer rebuild, and before doing so, i saved my bookmarks as a HTML file, on an external hard drive. After I set up the new computer, and dragged this HTML file of my (over 1200 bookmarks) onto my new desktop.

I went to BOOKMARKS,BOOKMARK MANAGER, THEN "IMPORT FROM ANOTHER BROWSER",abut all the only choices are for, ANOTHER BROWSER, NOT from any file on the computer.

I first tried to import this file into internet Explorer, but that interface seems to also have changed, and it seems whenever I click on the "IE' logo on the task bar, something like YAHOO, or MSN, pops up instead......what happened to the original internet explorer and all of its tools? (YES, I can see the tools or setting, or Internet options on the right of each of these sites, but HOW CAN I GET MY FAV BOOKMARKS HTML FILE BACK INTO CHROME AGAIN???????????? Any Help?

Hi I'm kind of confused,
Chrome is much like but not exactly the same as Google toolbar,
Simply signing in would make Google or Chrome bookmarks available,
That is what Google does,
It stores everything on it's servers,
So the basic question is are you signed into Chrome ?

I use Firefox 30 on my Windows XP desktop and I bookmark web pages often, so I have a substantial bookmarks folder with many subfolders. It's gotten so I have a hard time finding what I'm looking for. I'd like to be able to re-organize my bookmarks in a simple, straighforwward way, using software (e.g. creating more subfolders and move bookmarks into them, for instance). Is there software that will help me do this?

Thanks.

A:Software to organize bookmarks?

I know of no software that does this. You can click on Bookmarks in the Menu and select "Show All Bookmarks". This opens the firefox bookmark manager where to can drag and drop between bookmark folders or right click to create subfolders. You can also right click and copy or cut and bookmark and paste it to any other folder.

Manually Export individual registry keys or a specified bunch of Reg Keys by command line or a batch file or any other way that doesnt involve opening regedit and moving to the specified key and manually exporting it....

Even if it needs the use of some softwares, it would do..

A:[SOLVED] Manually Export individual registry keys from command line or any other way?

You can use regedit from the command line
Regedit /E filename.reg [key to export]
If you don't specify a key, the entire registry is exported
Example:
Regedit /E "%userprofile%\Desktop\Batfile.reg" hkey_classes_root\batfile
Will export the HKCR\Batfile key to a file named batfile.reg on your desktop.
You can't use the short version for the key name, it has to be spelled out, so HKCR can't be used in the above example.

Or you can use reg.exe commands to add, deleted, query, or export keys.

I know other users have had issues with this but I didn't know if I could follow the solutions for their problem or not.

(Not sure what information is helpful so I'll start and the top and be brief)
For my job I am required to sometimes go to 'suspect websites' and normally Norton will catch anything before it even has a chance to download. Sadly, two weeks ago I did download a file called Trojan.Gen (or at least that is what Norton called it). Almost immediately Norton caught and removed all threats but I knew I wasn't going to get off that easy.

For a few days everything seemed fine but shortly after I started seeing attack messages from Norton from \device\harddiskvolume1\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe, the IP and web address changes.

I couldn't tell if it was doing anything to my computer and have since been trying to remove it with no luck with Norton. Now, my web pages are being redirected to either a fake search page or a Pay Per Click page, if I click a link in Google.

Norton and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Free are telling me that they are not detecting anything.

I did read the preparation guide, so I hope I have all the information that is needed.

I want to thank you in advance for any help that I can get and I understand that this is a process. I appreciate your time!

Hey everyone. Why is Firefox 3.6.10 removing the bookmarks from my bookmarks toolbar whenever I add the bookmark to a folder under the bookmarks menu? Note: I am not moving them, I am going to the website and bookmarking them all over again so as to put them in a folder. However, when I do this, the bookmark gets removed from the toolbar and put in the folder. I really don't like this. I want to be able to have my bookmarks in two different places: both on the toolbar and in the folder.

A:Why does Firefox remove the bookmarks from my bookmarks toolbar?

Probably a Firefox feature to help you avoid duplicates.

After you have it once just copy it to where you want it. I just tested this with 3.5.13 copying from Bookmarks toolbar to another folder.

I can open and view the bookmarks.html file and view it as a web page and it looks all okay; but, if I place it where it should be and attempt to use it from the bookmarks are intended to be used, the browsers all jam on startup and will not display any web page.

The only way to close the browsers at this point it by using Task Manager.

Sounds like your bookmarks.html file is corrupt for some reason.
Try and create a new profile in Firefox. If you don't have a problem, then slowly add your
bookmarks into the new bookmarks file. I don't use Netscape, so I can't help you there.

Then I couldn't open my files. So I downloaded trial of Microsoft office 2010. I only use the Microsoft word program on it. Then there are libraries/ windows live photo gallery/ Infranveiw, and a bunch of crap I have downloaded! Therefore, my problem is all my pics, files, and docs are all over the place, many duplicates too. I just want to be able to access all my docs/ e-mail attachments/ pictures/ etc. without any problems. In addition, I want to delete all the extra crap I do not need. However, Id like to NOT delete what is needed. When I try to do this on my own, I end up deleting something I should not have and then I cannot open some things. Either way I need some advice PLEASE!

A:organize files

There is no need for bold typing.

There is no substitute for keeping your files in order at the time you save them. Then, they never get to being "all over the place". You will have to go through them, one by one, and decide whether to keep them and where you want them. There is no automated program that knows your choices.

Using search can help. You can search for all files of a type and put them all together where you want them.

Hi guys,

I'm totally new to Windows 7 (64bit) after using WinXP for a long time. I just got a new Dell XPS 15 laptop with a 1080p screen and it looks great, except that I have an issue where some programs don't seem to be displaying in the same resolution as the desktop. I can't find any advice out there about this issue either, though perhaps that's because I'm struggling to put the issue into words succinctly.

For example, iTunes looks ""blurry" compared with other programs (explorer, WMC, etc) - http://i55.tinypic.com/2mh8nfc.png

It happens with other programs, such as Google Chrome http://i55.tinypic.com/2pob9zk.jpg

It looks to me that the container is displaying in the correct resolution, but the content isn't. I have updated all of my drivers and installed all Windows updates but this hasn't fixed the problem. I'm running at native res 1920 x 1080.

Has anyone else come across this issue? Any help or a gentle nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Matt.

I'm using mac OS 10.5. I am trying to reinstall a clean version of firefox which is not a problem but I can't figure out how to get my old bookmarks back in. The browser has a function to import bookmarks from Safari, Internet Explorer and Opera but not previous bookmarks from firefox. I've tried to replace the bookmarks.html file in the application support folder, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to doe this?

A:reinstalling firefox and importing previous firefox bookmarks

I don't know the differences between firefox for windows and mac, but in windows you would click on bookmarks - then click on organize bookmarks, you can import your html file there.

Hi Julie,

Yes, they should still be there.
However, I use MozBackup before doing anything 'drastic' with Firefox or Thunderbird to keep a separate backup of my profiles.

EDIT
Oops - just realised there is a sticky in this forum about backing up!

I set up Firefox Sync Bookmarks on my PC where and how do I get my Bookmarks which are being synced and saved ?

A:Firefox Sync Bookmarks [moved to Firefox forum]

Your Bookmarks, and anything else you chose to setup in sync, to save are sitting in your Sync Account. You login to your account, from any added devices you also setup.

Had a number of abrupt computer shutdowns due to power outage and now Firefox won't open no matter what I do. I'm trying to recover all my bookmarks before I reinstall Firefox. So, after identifying which file it is (I think) I'm trying to get a look inside so I can record everything.

Thanks! I'm all ears!

A:How do I open a Firefox bookmarks file (.json) without using Firefox?

Your bookmarks and other preferences are stored in a separate and independent location/file on your disk, so you should be able to delete and reinstall Ff without needing to do a special save for them. See if the information linked to below does not, however, answer your question:http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing%20up%20and%20restoring%20bookmarks

Hello,

I search a solution for organize the files list and the directory list how I want. The best would be the possibility to show directly the directory content for some directories. Do you now this ?

Thanks

A:Organize my files and directories Windows Explorer

I'm not exactly sure what you want. There's Tutorials how to set the various folder content type settings for Explorer. If it's not something Explorer can do natively then you may want to use a 3rd party file manager, such as FreeCommander. There are many others.

Filling this out, at least partially, will save a lot of time. Another advantage is when posting a new problem, the person answering can just click the My System Specs link in the bottom of your post. No need to search for the information.

If you have multiple systems just indicate that in the System Specs so that we know why many of the fields are blank.

Windows 7 automatically organizes all my newly created folders and files even though I don't want it to. for example, if i create a folder, it will defaultly appear at the bottom of all the files; with my winrar files. However, after i exit the window and go back to the directory where i made the folder, the folder i created will now be organized and placed with the rest of the folders. How do I make it so that my folder can be placed anywhere and will not be automatically organized?

Hi i have the problem that i have a large archive (30000) for example of documents, pdf etc. which i want to have ALL in one Folder. I wanted to somehow mark/flag/color certain files in this folder which i already read for example, so that i know which file is read and which not when viewing them in the windows explorer.

Unfortunately it seems that windows explorer has not such a functionality. Color Programs seem to have only have the ability to color folders but not any files. The filename could have a different color or the symbol or such. I read in Mac osX it is very easy to change the colors of files.

Is there a program which can color Files or is there another file explorer which can mark files as read for better organization. I have a workaround that i create empty .txt files with the same filename as the read file so that i know if the file is double and there is a txt beside it (while sorting by file name of course) so than this is a read file/zip/pdf. But instead of that i want to have another option without creating all those empty txt filename duplicates.

The solution should be portable because if i bring my files to another pc on a harddrive the info should be somehow accessable on another pc as well. A portable file explorer perhaps is capable of that. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP and am waiting to hear your advice on how you keep track of your archives.

Happy Monday! Today, we?re going to show you how you can organize your Start files with tile folders, new to Windows 10 with the Windows 10 Creators Update.

Here?s how to get started:

Simply click and drag one icon onto another to create a tile folder with both. Then, you can add any other icons you?d like by dragging them onto the folder, or resize it by right-clicking on it.

Have a great week!

I recently suffered a hrd disk failure and I was forced to extract the data from the faulty disk using a Linux distro (which managed to access all the files just fine while windows complained the partitions were unformatted). I then incorporated the files into my new Windows 7 installation and soon found out I could not access the files because I didn't have the necessary permissions. Since changing permissions for 1000+ files one by one is rather tedious I browsed this forum for an alternate solution and found out I could change file permissions for a folder 1 or more levels higher, including all files and folders inside said top level folder.

While applying new permissions to my <username> folder I was prompted to confirm if I wanted the Appdata folder to be changed as well. I really didn't know, but decided against. Even so, since I made the change I am having problems installing programs (can only do so as admin) and several programs have started informing of problems like:

Failed to create temporary folder:
C:\Users\<username>\Appdata\Local\Temp\<foldername>

My questions therefore are as follows:

- what permissions do I need to set for the individual folders from <username> down? Are they all supposeed o be owned by the user?
- what can I do to correct the current behaviour of my installation and to regain control over installing programs as a user?
- ... or is something different causing the problems I am experiencing?

I am using Windows 7 U... Read more

I'm stuck with a script again and would appreciate it if anyone can help point me in the right direction. I have a long rolling log which I want to split up into individual files. The following is indicative of the start of entries where each starts on a new line followed by an unpredictable number of lines of text:
F:\Test\0001_01.txt
F:\Test\0002_01.txt
F:\Test\0002_02.txt
F:\Test\0002_03.txt
F:\Test\0003_01.txt
F:\Test\0003_02.txt
F:\Test\0004_01.txt
F:\Test\0005_01.txt
F:\Test\0005_02.txt

I want to split the above into:

0001MSplit.txt
0002MSplit.txt
0003MSplit.txt
0004MSplit.txt
0005MSplit.txt

concatenating the contents into one file when the entry shows the same file name and has a suffix of _01, _02, _03 etc. I have only coded for 6 suffixes but there are likely to be more than that. A single file entry will always be _01.

I had to insert @@@ into the log on the line above every file entry for 2 reasons - 1) as a delimiter for splitting the file for the Array and 2) I need to preserve the line with the file details as I need it as the first line in the split file and as subsequent headings where there is concatenation. (Using the line with the file as a delimiter doesn't work for me as it is removed when loaded into the array).

I thought I had cracked it but not so. I was also aiming to have split files numbered consecutively but I couldn't achieve that. I would get the first file as 1 and the second one as 8 etc. I can wear the split file numbers not being conse... Read more
