I reinstall my Toshiba Libretto L5 / 80, unfortunately a haven't got any CD with driver and after an instalation, system can't detect display driver (i can see only 800x600 resolution, not a 1280x600, it's a ATI Mobility Radeon-M but clasics driver from ati site can't be install) and battery driver (i can't see battery info, don't know a type of a baterry). I can't find drivers on toshiba's site, please, if anybody know where can i download it, or better, if somebody send me driver on mail ([email protected]), i'll be very pleasure. THX for any reply.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I thought most Toshiba notebook models are known to me but now I am absolutely confused when I saw the picture of this ?beauty?. ;)
Where you bought this notebook?

As you can see this notebook model is not listed on Toshiba Europe support page. Is this maybe some Asian model? US maybe?

Hello guys!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L650-1QJ Notebook (Serial: PSK-1LE) with Windows 8 Pro x64 (from Dreamspark). I tried and installed all ATI driver i found for my laptop but none of them worked, i tried many options like uninstalling the driver from device manager and reinstalling, still nothing. Then i found some Catalyst for Windows 8, and it crashed my OS several times.

Any ideas?

I need it installed proper in order to run Photoshop CS6 and use the filters which require the Graphic Processor.

A:Problem with Display Driver on Toshiba Notebook

Did your notebook come with Win8 preinstalled? If so, why did you try to force the installation of other drivers?

Did a quick look at a Toshiba drivers download site (link below) and did NOT see Win8 supported for your model:

Download drivers:

Typically, with laptops, you need to use the video drivers supplied by the laptop maker, not drivers downloaded from other sites.

I recently upgraded the RAM in my Toshiba Satellite laptop (model 1905-s301) from 256k to 512k.

Now, for some reason, I am getting an error message indicating that there is a problem with my display driver. When this happens, everything on my display becomes very large and appears to be colored in pastels. It usually happens when I am attempting to stream video. The error message is as follows...

"The ati2dvag display driver has stopped working normally. Save your work and reboot the system to restore full display functionality. The next time you reboot the machine a diaolog will be displayed giving you a chance to upload data about this failure to Microsoft."

I am using the most current version of the ATI display driver and tried reinstalling it for good measure but to no avail. Has anyone ever encountered this problem before? If so, can anyone help? Thanks - Greg

The problem is this: Shortly after the beginning of charging the battery starts squeaking (or whistle, subtle signals coming from somewhere inside of the laptop or battery) and after some time, stop charging! Windows displays a message, "Battery Unknown" And to continue the exercises, you need to remove and insert back the battery, and so 5 times until charging is complete. And the lack of such a charge no more than 1 hour and 45 minutes.

What happened?

i think this little piece of tech is a little old...

the battery pack is gone, some cells cant hold no more charge...
therefor the voltage is misscounted and leads to "not recognised"
you have to exchange the battery pack...

I have a Toshiba Satellite L850-1j9 (PSKG8E-02D00KCE) working with i7-3630QM and a AMD Radeon HD 7670M.
The problem is, I'm not able to install the Display Driver from AMD. When I try to install the software and drivers this problem appears: https://youtu.be/AOiPq8WVz_M
The first time this happen I was using Win 10. I did the update to win 10 one month ago and everything was ok until 4 days ago. I was working with my laptop with a external screen connected by HDMI and suddenly the screen started flashing with some green lines and a black backgroud (something as you can see in the video).
I saw in internet that some people had problems doing the update to wion10 so I installed again windows 8 to see if was something related with win10 but the problem persists.
I tried install the GPU from the intel CPU, a Intel 4000HD graphic card, but is not possible use it as a main GPU. I got this problem: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"
I need help please to understand what can I do to fix this problem. I took a look through internet and until now I did find any solution that could fix my problem.
Thanks for your help.

I am new at this stuff and I seek help from all those who can give it. Ok so my first charger stopped working and I bought a new charger. The charger worked great for a few months after purchase. Until one day the charger stopped charging on and off. I unplugged it a few times and then it stopped working. I let the battery die after. I am guessing that it stopped working because i may have screwed up the charger socket by tripping on the cord thus pulling on it im not really sure anymore. The laptop is in a bad condition, it's four years old i think but it can still run. The battery is the same not change. HELP ME for I am an *****

my new Toshiba libretto W100 is still very hot and the fan is always running.
Even with programs that use few resources.
If I use programs like Trackmania or Fifa 11, the temperature increases further and the fan runs very quickly and loudly.

Is this normal? can I reduce the temperature and noise?
Thanks. Best regards.

A:Toshiba Libretto W100 is hot and fan is always running

I think you are using hard performance applications which stress the CPU a lot.
This causes higher heat dissipation and therefore the temperature goes to a higher level and therefore the cooling modules run faster.

So in my opinion everything is ok here; it?s nothing unusual in the computer world; warm air needs to be removed and therefore the fans run at higher speed.

I think the fans don?t run faster if you use low performance applications. Right?

Does anybody here know what one long beep while trying to turn on a Toshiba Libretto 100CT means?
When pressing the powerbutton everything that happens is that long beep and the "ON" LED goes on.

If no one knows, is there anybody who knows how to build a "Printer Port LED"?
It's needed in the official Service Maintenance Manual at Toshiba.

I've always taken a laptop to work, and I have just recently realized that the display drivers are out of date. It currently has Intel 82852/82855 with 6.13.xx drivers. There is 6.14 drivers, which I have d/l from Toshiba but cannot for the life of me figure out how to replace the old drivers.

Going through control panel to update devices doesn't find the new files (it was a zip package, of which 'unzips and installs' correctly, but does nothing/have no idea where it unzips to).

Unistalling the drivers causes re-boot which re-installs the same drivers.

I am unable to to 'Remove' the Intel Extreme Graphics drivers from add/remove. It only shows 'remove', but clicking the button does nothing.

After 2 hrs of fiddling with it, I still have 6.13 drivers -_-" any help?

I am running Windows 7 64-Bit on my Toshiba A300, and when I get my monitor in a certain position (same position every time) I hear the noise like I plugged in a flash drive and then the notification pops up and says "USB device not recognized". Sometimes if my computer is in that one bad position when I try to start it up, nothing happens. You can hear the hard drive turn on, but the screen stays black and the hard drive quits spinning. If I turn off & close my computer then move the monitor to a different position it will turn back on. I have left my computer just sitting there for a really long time hoping that some sort of error would come up eventually but nothing ever does. The only thing I can come up with is that my display or monitor driver is not updated. I have tried to find the newest driver and been unsuccessful. I have also tried to let the computer search for the newest driver but it doesn't find anything and I'm pretty sure there are new drivers out there. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

my toshiba satellite M55-S3291 has a error on booting. in most cases (about 2 out 3), the LCD will light up but not display any boot info (backlight is on).
however, when i connect an external monitor and activate it by the Fn+F5 key set, it will show windows booting and running just as usual.

sometimes, though, usually on one out of three boots, the LCD comes on as usual and works fine till the next reboot.

drivers are up to date, I did a windows recovery to a date when I know the problem was not existent, did a virus check and so forth. Toshiba does not know what is wrong so here we go...

any suggestions?

A:Toshiba M55-S3291 display driver error on boot

It's nothing to do with Windows or drivers.
It seems to be either a faulty LCD or coneection to motherboard.

There is also a slim possibility that it may be faulty bios configuration.
In that case just run BIOS defaults, by first hitting (not literally) the key that gets you into BIOS when the computer starts (DEL or F2 or other)
Once in BIOS got to setup defaults (usually the last setting) and select it, then Save and Exit.

The driver is for: Mobile Intel 945 express chipset family(Microsoft Corp WDDM 1.0) The driver is up to date and i think it might be corrupted or something. What keeps happening is whenever i open a game i have the display goes black and then comes back up and has an alert that says: "Display Driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista stopped responding and has resolved". After this alert comes up (about a second later) either the screen freezes up or the screen looses the display entirely. I don't know why his is happening, i have the driver up to date i have also unistalled and re-installed the driver and it still doesn't work. I'm trying to create a bootable SD ram card using "TOSHIBA SD Memory Boot Utility".

I do not have a floppy drive so I use img/vfd image files created on another computer.
In both cases I get a window that say "TSDBOOT This is unsupported format", so what is unsupported, my img/vfd file or my SD ram card???

I have tried with 8MB and 256MB SD cards, both formatted using "TOSHIBA SD Memory Card Format".

NB: Before I begin using Partition Magic on the disk and install Linux, I would like to have a rescue floppy (using SD card instead of floppy to rescue boot WinXp).

A:Libretto U100: Creating a bootable SD ram card with Toshiba Boot Utility

I dint make much experiments but I presume that img/vfd file is not supported. Like you know the all newer units are delivered without floppy drive and you can use SD card for BIOS update or even to save the password.

Please check advanced search on this forum and you will find a few interesting discussions about similar theme.

I experienced in the last weeks that the nice new Libretto W100 is very battery hungry. Of course it will use some because it has a lot to power.

For example: taking notes during a meeting, 1.5 pages (A4 size, font 12), approxim. 50% of the time the screen on, running of course in Eco mode, does kill 74% of the content of the battery.

Apparantly they didn't really size down Windows 7 to fit better in the mobile world. It can not have been the designers intention to have to carry around this big power supply all the time.

Does anyone have similar (or other) numbers?

Hi There

Apologies if this question is in the wrong part of the forum but I need help with a battery problem for my Toshiba Laptop.

I have a Satellite A300 and have done for about 4 years. The battery recently has not been holding charge and I put this down to age so ordered a new one online. My previous battery had Model Number PA3534U-1BRS with DC 10.8v and 4000 mAh and my new battery is also PA3534U-1BRS with DC 10.8v and 4000 mAh.

The problem is that the computer doesn't seem to like it. If I put the battery in and connect the power adaptor the red battery icon will show and remain for around 5 minutes before starting to flash. When I turn the computer on and log in the computer displays 'battery not detected' in the battery icon on the toolbar. I have not been able thus far to charge the battery.

What am I doing wrong ? Any ideas on how I can get around this ?

Any help gratefully received

Some laptop manufacturers go to extra lengths the make sure you cannot use any battery made by another company so that they can lock you into buying only their brand battery at an elevated price.

I just encountered a problem with my Toshiba laptop that has me wondering. 8 months ago I bought a Toshiba Satellite L755-S5246 laptop. The laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium, 4 gigs of RAM and the Intel Core2Duo B960 processor.

The laptop has met all of my expectations and I have been happy with it. Last night when I got it out I noticed that the battery had 45 minutes left on it as measured by the Battery Meter (which I know can be inaccurate). I wasn't worried because I only had a little to do but all of a sudden and without warning my laptop shut down on me. When I got out the power cord and restarted it there was a warning next to the Battery icon in the System Notification Tray that said something like: "there is a problem with the battery. Switch to AC to avoid sudden shutdown and loss of data". Since I was already on AC I didn't worry and my laptop worked fine but I am concerned. I have had my laptop for 8 months and already the battery has failed? What is going on here? I know they do fail but I have had laptop batteries last for 4 or 5 years. My girlfriend bought her Toshiba (a different laptop, I know this) two years ago and uses here much harder than I do and the battery is still going strong.

Is this a documented issue with Toshiba or just a fluke for me? I can certainly buy another battery but I will not be happy if it fails in such a short period of time. Any thoughts on this? Thanks all for the help.

Model A35-S159. After installing a new battery, and getting a new power supply, sometimes, but not always, the battery discharges while on AC. The AC light stays on while the battery discharges. The battery always recharges when I turn the laptop off.

Sometimes I can turn it on and it won't discharge while on AC. Other times I turn it on and it immediately starts discharging. I can tell because the orange/green charge light doesn't come on. And still other times, it will stay at 100% charged on AC, and then suddenly, for no apparent reason, the charge light goes off and it starts discharging.

A:Toshiba Satellite Battery Problem

Good Evening petef, the batteries in these machines contain sensitive intelligent circuitry that often need a special charging routine procedure when they are replaced.

This battery circuitry requires to be accepted by the machine when a battery is replaced, this is to realign the battery condition and charge schedule with the actual computer.

It may be worth your while asking Toshiba about this problem directly.

Hello. I've browsed these forums before after needing help, but this is my first post. As you will be able to tell, I'm not that technically minded, so forgive me please if this question seems obvious to you. I'd sure appreciate any help.

I have a Toshiba Satellite M60 which is just over 2 years old. I've noticed recently that the battery life was getting very poor; it was running at little under 30 minutes if I was watching a DVD, for example.

Last week, the laptop would not turn on. It tried to get started, but then just cut out before powering up. I tried a few things, including taking the battery out, putting it back in and then starting again, and it then did start just fine. However, it would only start with the mains electricity not connected; only on battery alone. I am still starting the laptop like this, and the problem is still the same. To start my laptop, I have to remove my battery, put it back in, start up, and then when it has powered up, I put the mains power in. If I do this before, it won't start.

Do you think this is likely to be just the battery that needs replacing, or is the problem more severe? I am no longer under guarantee, so don't want to pay for a service if a replacement battery would solve the problem, but similarly I don't want to pay for a battery only to find that doesn't work, and the have to pay for a service as well.

I hope you can help. It will be much appreciated.

A:Toshiba Satellite M60 problem. Battery or worse?

You didn't say if it worked the other way around
Power in , Battery always out

If it works like that, then it's likely battery
If it doesn't then it's likely onboard power converter (that one may be tricky!)

By the way, when removing both power sources, you should hold down the power button for 30 secs, dispersing all internal voltage (this may also fix it)

Hi Guys,

I am faced with a very wierd problem and I could not figure out if it is a h/w or s/w issue.

System desc #

Toshiba Sat, M35 S359, 60 GB, Pentium M 1.4 Ghz, 512 MB DDR(2x 256)
I bought it in Jan 2004, warranty exp and I dont have extended war
The only H/W I touched was Memory, upgrade, replaced one of the 256s with 1GB. did that last X-mas. System has been running fine until last night.

I was using Yahoo Msnger at that time, all of a sudden screen started looked wierd(blurr) different color patterns, mouse pointer split into 3 and intermitted freezing of the screen and eventually I could not do anything except hit the power button. When I tried to re-start, I can hear the Windows start-up music but the screen is black. Waited for almost an hour and restarted, now everything comes up fine, screen looks great, I thought it was just a hick-up and to be on safe side ran Ad-aware and deleted a few Regs and cookies. in the middle of I saw the blurr again and Ad-aware froze a few times before it finished. And then on it is the same problem, you can read from the line 2 of the problem all over again.

Deleted all the suspicious programs I have. Backed up all my files (this invloved 4/5 restarts). Would have run the Restore CD, but I am surprised to find that I lost it.

I wanted to see if I can get any help online before I shell a few hundred on Toshiba Support.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the long desc.

It might be the powersaver settings. If you are running the laptop on the battery, after the battery reaches a certain level the computer will reduce processor speed, screen brightness etc. You can go into the settings and and set all the sliders to full which will prevent the screen from darkening but your battery will run out faster.

The computer is working as I connected it to an external display and that was fine. I tried to folow various trouble shooting guides online showing how to take the notebook apart and to reseat the display connector onto the motherboard however this did not cure the problem.

I did notice that coming from the display was a large bunch of wires going into a connector which is the one I reseated, on the right hand side of the display is a white and black wire going to a connector and a pink wire which just seemed to be floating, I could not see where it had come from. Does anyone have any ideas regarding this wire or any other tips which may help me.

You may have knocked the inverter lose. It is difficult to fix, as it rests behing the screen at the bottom... and you have to remove as many as 22 screws to get to it.
Or you may have dislodged the ribbon cable that goes from the system board to the screen at a hinge point.
That is easier to repair. Remove the keyboard by removing all the screws from the bottom of the computer, then remove the bezel and other parts around the keyboard. You will find a wide flat cable that is very thin. unplug and reseat that cable and all others.
Sometimes you will get lucky. But you really need a friend or a tech who is familiar with screen problems, and all the components in the computer...
As you probably know, it costs about $150 to have it repaired because of the time involved in doing the work... and the possible parts neede.

Hi everyone

I have Toshiba Qosmio G20 laptop which i have had no serious problems with since purchase about 3 years ago and this morning it went crazy on me.

Before i start explaining my problem i apologies if i dont make sence, its quite complecated to explain, anyway so here i go.

The problem that i am having is that when i boot up my laptop the Qosmio logo appers fine and then it goes into the password screen (this is the hard drive password NOT the windows login screen.) The password screen normal is a black screen asking for the password but now the whole screen is full of white pixles and about 3 M letters where it ask's you for the password. When i enter the password it then goes into the windows load up screen and on this screen there are various green/blue virtical lines on it. When it finally loads the screen just goes black and nothing happens but i can see the hard drive working. I then have to do a hard shutdown since there is nothing else i can do.

What i then decided to do was login using safe mode. Once i had entered the hard drive password i pressed F8 and was presented with the screen where you pick how you would like to start windows. This screen was again filled with white pixles all over the screen and the letter M was all over the place as well. I could not make out which one was safe mode but i knew it was the first one so i selected it had loged in. It went to the windows load up screen again with green/blue virtical lines and then it ... Hello folks,

I seem to be having multiple problems all at the same time (all of which may or may not be related) but let me start from the beginning.

This all started when I tried to connect my Inspiron 1720 laptop to our television. For some reason my laptop froze, the image on both my computer and TV had white lines across it, and so I turned off my system since it was locked up.

I restarted and began having display problems - first windows were not opening in the desktop area. They would open in the system tray, but were "unreachable" by the mouse. I played with display settings and got the screen to fit...but now seem to have 2 primary problems:

Whenever I play games, view pictures, or Windows Media Player, I see strange "plaid boxes." However, the desktop is fine and everything else appears to work fine. I contacted NVIDIA and I have installed different driver versions, as well as the OEM (Dell's) driver's - all did not work - I still saw the distorted images when playing games, viewing pictures, and videos.

I have also completed System Restore's to points prior to when I was having the problem - unfortunately that did not work.

Here are screenshots of what I am seeing:

This problem may stem from the original TV incident. When I click on Displa... Read more

A:Vista Display Problem (display driver and/or multiple-monitor related)

The first set of pictures that you put up look like classics examples of bad video RAM. In a desktop PC I would tell you to swap out the video card with a differnt one to verify that is the issue since in a few cases bad drivers can cause the issue but it's highly unlikely. Professional service by a local non big box computer shop is your best bet at this point.

I?m not W100 owner but I?ve got another Toshiba notebook (U400) which is equipped with an Intel graphic chip. I downloaded and installed the graphic card driver from Intel page. Until now everything run smoothly?
But I read here in the forum that the usage of non-Toshiba graphic drivers is an own risk?

My Dell precision 5510's display driver stops responding and getting recovered if I run any graphic intense programs in it. It happens only when I run it without the charger connected, it works fine if charger is connected.
It says display driver stopped responding and recovered by itself, but I am not able to resume whatever I was doing. It makes me rerun the program, after a while, some 2 minutes, the loop repeats(display driver stops working and getting recovered again). This makes me not able to use my laptop at all without charger connected.
I dont see any issue with less graphic intense programs like browsing etc., This happens only during games for me, I hope it will be the case with other graphic intense programs also.

Thanks in advance,
Any help wiil be much appreciated,

A:Dell precision 5510 display driver issue while laptop runs without mains (battery powered)

The system is functioning as designed - it shifts to the integrated GPU when on battery power to allow the system to run longer than it would with the discrete GPU.  While you can change that setting, which may help with the issue you see, you'll likely find the system won't run very long on a charge if you do.
If you want full power out of the CPU and GPU for games, play with the adapter connected.

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop Model 2250CDT that is running Win 98..It only has about a 5GB hard drive but 92% of it is free. With no previous trouble one day the desktop is only filling a small space in the middle of the screen. the entire screen is visible..it just looks minimized. I downloaded new drivers for display from Toshiba on my PC and tried to install them but I couldn't get them to work. Please help me and let me know what I can do...thanking you in advance ...Dianne

If you go to Display Properties (via Control Panles or by right clicking on desktop & choosing properties) and click on the Settings tab, does it say anything about Trident Cyberglade (I think that is the video in that laptop) or "Standard VGA"? If it is the latter, you probably are on the right track by trying to re-install the video driver. If the former, is it set to 640x480 or something higher? Sometimes a game or other software will reset the video resolution and "forget" to put it back.

I have a Toshiba Portege R705 with a unique problem that I've never come across. The display has shifted down and to the left. My screen has about a half inch black space on the very right hand side. Also, the task bar (Win 7) is shifted slightly off the bottom of the screen.

The best way to explain is as if it were an external monitor that I had gone into the settings and adjusted the image too far to the left and down. Except for the top of the screen doesn't have the black space.

I just opened it up one day and it was like this. I've gone through every setting I can find and there is no setting to adjust the display location. I've also googled and googled and googled.

I thought I would try and boot from some kind of live cd to see if the problem persists, thus pointing to a hardware issue. But I cannot. I never see the POST screen when I start up. I cannot get into the BIOS settings or anything alike. I have pushed all of the typical buttons (esc, del, f2, f12, f1, etc) during boot. The most I get is a beeping noise after I hold the key's down too long. The screen always stays black. I can see on the side of the screen that the LCD light is on, but nothing is being displayed.

So, does anyone have any ideas? Any clue as to why I don't see a POST screen or boot to CD?

Many thanks in advanced!

I don't know much about Win8 finally figured out how to boot to safe mode. The issues:
The Toshiba splash screen and the Win8 pre login(?) screen display fine.
The display is black after signing in, possibly audio not right too.
May have happened after or during a Win update; its a coworkers pc. ctrl+alt+del will open task manager and new task allows some activity like opening notepad and control panel.
None of the Win shortcut keys work and launching explorer via task manager gives an error.
Device manager shows an Unknown monitor and it is listed as Other non-pnp in display settings.

What I've tried:
Rebooting into safe mode seems to work like it should
Created a new admin user - same problems
Tried to update monitor driver and it says proper driver already loaded.
Tried to restore from last restore point (win update on 8/12 I think) and it errors out at the end saying to run chkdsk /r on hard drive.
Run scandisk and it says errors found, please fix.
Can't figure out how to retry Windows update from Safe Mode.
