Q: Watch as these Photoshop experts (try to) use Photoshop 1.0

It's hard to believe but the go-to photo editing application used by millions, Photoshop, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. In honor of the occasion, CreativeLive recently asked eight Photoshop experts to take a trip back in time and try their hand...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

"kahhhh why back in my day we had no edit history! You had to mean every single edit, or if you were one of those riffraff whippersnappers you'd save a new file between every big edit!"

Seriously though, found this video to be fairly entertaining, for the reactions of course.

Hello Friends! Can any one explain me the procedure of cutting out a particular part of the picture. Take for example the below mentioned picture. I want to cut the picture of the female and paste in it some other background. The lasso or the magic wand tools were the ones I tried, but the problem was with the hairs. As the hairs are so scattered, I wasn't able to cut the picture properly.

May be I am not too good in explaining, but I guess you got what I actually want to do. I know there is some way to do it and to do that I need your help. So, if possible, please help me in this.

Thank you.

Hey guys, I appreciate if you are well-versed with Photoshop and able to help me out.

I am trying to do a brochure with Photoshop 7, but when I set my work in psd form to print, it doesn’t really print the whole thing out as what I have layed out nicely on the A4 sized psd. Tried messing with the print preview options, but it’s either I blow everything to about 138% and get my top and bottom of my work truncated, or I “scale to fit media” to about 68% but everything will be squeezed towards the centre.

Any idea how to resolve this? I have laid out my work nicely so preferably I do not wish to make any changes…

Thanks in advance.

I'm not familiar with Photoshop but I use Paint Shop Pro for similar projects. It sounds like your layout for your page is not right for the output you desire. What I do is make myself a template of the correct size of the paper I am going to print on, therefore when printing on it, I already know how it is going to come out. I would guess that the width of your page is too narrow for the length of your paper. Even though you "have laid out my work nicely so preferably I do not wish to make any changes…", you are going to have to edit it again before printing.

Is there a progrom that will use the microphone and allow you to control your computer?

When you clap the screen turns on (like when you go idle)
Program it so when you say "Start Photoshop" photoshop starts running
Clap twice to turn off
Say "Play Techno", plays the techno playlist you have created under iTunes

Other Ideas:

When you say "submit" it will click the submit button on the current active page (like in IE)

A:Photoshop cs4 help

Hmm, it's strange that photoshop would require full administrator privileges to run. It seems.....odd......Make sure your antivirus isn't doing something to force you to run it as an admin.

Now, photoshop is a software. Most drivers are for interaction with hardware, unless photoshop has a special software driver it requires. If you are getting a message specifically from photoshop requiring a new driver, please specify what type of driver it is asking you for. Otherwise, if this seems to be unrelated to photoshop, please post on a new thread (perhaps in the hardware section)

Hey all, recently my computer crashed. I don't know why - first, Wordpad of all things froze, and wouldn't exit, even when I used Ctrl+Alt+Del's Task Manager. Then, my computer wouldn't respond - it wouldn't shut down, restart, or anything. After waiting a while, I was forced to hold down the power button to turn it off. After waiting a few hours and turning it on again, Windows XP loaded - very, very slowly. It's been a day since, and Windows loads normally and as fast as it used to, but Photoshop 7.0 won't open!

My computer is...

Shuttle I 8600B
Windows XP professional
Intel Pentium 4 3.40GHz
3.42GHz, 1.00GB of RAM

(I just copied that from My Computer properties.)

When I click on Photoshop, my mouse switches to the hourglass, but then nothing happens. The start-up loading screen doesn't open - nothing. I opened Task Manager and watched the processes while I clicked on Photoshop, and I see that Photoshop.exe DOES open briefly (using 10,000K of... whtaever), but then closes about a second later.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I even tried installing Photoshop CS2 from a friend, and even though that installed without a hitch, the exact same thing happens when I click on it to open the program. (Which is to say, nothing happens. Photoshop.exe runs for a second or two and closes.) Neither Photoshop 7 nor CS2 will open using "Run." (Nothing happens when I hit 'OK.')

I even tried restoring my computer to a d... Read more

Hi. I've had Photoshop, version before the current one, on an older computer for years. I'm about to transition to a new computer, running Vista. I know Adobe is very tightly controlled about usage of any given program, and I'm afraid that if I put the same program I have been using on the new computer, Adobe will not allow me to use it, because Adobe has no way of knowing that I will not be using it on the old computer anymore.

How should I handle this? Is it necessary to contact Adobe somehow? I think I still have the original serial number.

is is just me or is Vista a piece of (insert expletive)?

i just scraped together my hard earned cents to get a new pc......mainly to use for music and design/art stuff...with the new pc coming with Vista....and i find have discovered that VISTA doesnt like ITUNES or PHOTOSHOP...... no itunes i can deal with....but when i find out PHOTOSHOP doesnt work im thinking WTF??????

Iv installed PHOTOSHOP fine, and i can open the program all good.... but then a charming little pop up tells me i can not use photoshop as i dont have the proper priviledges and that i need to log in as an administrator to have these priviledges.....my response to that : i am the f***ing administrator!!!!!!!!!

so i try to troubleshoot and nothing works...even though im no computer genius i follow everything to a T....nothing. then in a last ditch attempt i start googling to find a solution.....and nada...just the same stuff.. the sad thing is i even rang up the computer place i bought it from and pleaded with them to give me XP and they tell me its been recalled so nope i cant have it. Now im bleeping myself as my rent is being paid by my art jobs and without photoshop im screwed, screwed, screwed.

so my question after that little tirade is: is there anyone out there that can help meeeeeeeeeeeee???????

would be forever grateful!

My system is MS Windows 2000 Pro with SP4; 384 MB RAM, 60 GB hard drive

I'm trying to run Adobe Photoshop CS2. It's been installed successfully (or so it says), but when I try to find Adobe Bridge I can't see the Bridge icon on my task bar. The college I study at runs Windows XP SP2 and they have the icon on the task bar. Yet during the installation process on my computer it specifically states "Installing Adobe Bridge".

I've checked the help files on CS2 but no luck. I'm also following Adobe's Photoshop CS2 "Classroom in a Book" as part of my course but can't find any help there either.

Any help would be welcome! Thanks in advance.

You have the minimum amount of memory needed to run Photoshop and perhaps when you load it, there isn't enough to open Adobe Bridge. Have you tried opening Adobe Bridge seperately?

I am trying to install Photoshop 7.0 on my pc but after the install I get cant initilise photoshop 7.0 scratch disks are full. I have tried turn off every thing and do a uninstall and a full reinstall and same error. I have tried to adjust the paging file size from Auto to low at like 2gig and high at 5gig. My physical mem is about 2.9gig and my system cache is about 2.2gig. I have rebooted and done a full defrag nothing seems to help. I did find a note on the net some where that I lost that said photoshop has a issue with drives over 1 Terabyte in size but I cant find it and never did find what to do to fix it. I have two of the same machines but the other has just a single 1 terabyte drive that when formated was about 945gig and all the rest is the same and it works fine on that machine. I am trying to find if there is a registry change i can make to adjust the scratch drive in photoshop. All the help I keep finding says that if you get this error restart photoshop but then go into properties and adjust the scratch disks but I cant run the program to do this. HELP.

A:Photoshop 7.0

First, reset the preferences file:

A friend called me about this problem yesterday. One recommendation, which I thought was ridiculous, is to fill the drive until there's less than a terabyte of free space.
My plan is to partition the 1.5 TB drive to two ~750 GB drives to beat the 1 TB limit.
Adobe doesn't seem to have a fix in the works, and I guess it makes sense as this is such an old program, but I hear the problem exists in CS2 as well.

First, I want to clarify that I need tech support for Photoshop, and that I am not looking for tutorials or anything like that. Secondly, I apologize if this in the wrong section.

I have had Photoshop CS3 for about 6 years now and am running it on Windows XP. A few days ago, for the first time since I've owned it, my Photoshop has started causing me problems. Whenever I create a new file, it will not allow me to save it. Instead, the save dialogue box appears for a fraction of a second then disappears then the program locks up and I have to ctrl+alt+del to exit out of it. However, I am still able to save files that I have downloaded off the internet and have resized, cropped, edited, etc. I have already ran a virus scan and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire CS3 suite (twice) but neither has had any effect. If possible, I would like to fix this problem without having to pay the $40 service fee for tech support from Adobe. Please help!

Your System Specs is missing critical information. Do you have the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows? I have seen issues installing older software on the 64-bit version when it was published as only 32-bit. The 64-bit version of Windows can run a lot of 32-bit software but issues can occur depending upon what the programs do.

I'm using PS Cs2 and a Canon Rebel 8.0. When I open my photos and look in image size it shows 72ppi. Am I correct in thinking that this is the screen resolution & not the photos? In preferences it reads 300 ppi for print. I'm a little confused. Shooting with the canon rebel 8.0 wouldn't my images be greater than the 72 ppi, or are they being changed when opened in PS? If they are staying at 300 ppi or there abouts, do I have to change the 72 ppi in image size every time I open an image? Hope this makes sense.

A:ppi in Photoshop

change it to whatever you want it to say 72 or 100 or 300

what does the image size say when thre res is 72... then change the res to 300 what does the image size say...

It all means nothing except for print.... 300 ppi for print is a throw back to days gone by... I print at 240 ppi all the time at 11x14 and larger with great results

We installed photoshop 7 on a PC. Using a standard adobe keyboard command of a holding CTL key and a click of the mouse. When you do this the computer turns off and restarts. No error messages, no scan disk when it restarts.... nothing.

Any help in what may be conflicting with this keyboard command or the software?

Hi, I'm new and very green! I just want to know how to take one picture/photograph from my files and paste it on top of another picture/photograph. I have reduced the size of one with the idea of inserting it in the top left hand corner of the other - I'm working on producing a brochure and so I want to paste stuff on top of other stuff! Thanks, Gilles

very quickly...

with both images open click on the small one to make it active then select... select all then edit copy... then click on the base image to make it active then edit paste...then click the mover tool in the tool bar and drag the pasted image to where you want it...

Hi Bullion and welcome

A couple of things come to mind.
1-sometimes running an app in compatibility mode cures it. to run in compat simply right click the icon you use to launch go to properties and compaibility tab. Click vista and try it.

2-sometimes DEP (data execution prevention) prevents it. goto your system control panel>advanced and make sure not all apps is selected.

Let us know if you need any help with all this
