Yoga 3 Pro with Windows 10 freezes when moved

Q: Yoga 3 Pro with Windows 10 freezes when moved

A couple of weeks ago I did a clean install of Windows 10, and it has been running smooth since then. The last day, Windows 10 has been freezing constantly. After som digging, i realized Windows was freezing when i moved the laptop (not shutting down or anything, just picking it up from my lap was enough). I have tested my theory several times, and every time i lift the laptop up from the surface it freezes. It only happens in Windows, tried running the recovery application (outside windows), and I can move the laptop freely without it ever freezing. Any clues? Edit: Oddly enough, this behavior only happens when the WiFi adapter is enabled in Device Manager. I can add that yesterday, after the system froze, the wifi adapter disappeared from device manager all together. Had to disable/enable in BIOS to get it back.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Symptoms: - Laptop freezes when moved, either windows 8, windows 10 or Ubuntu. Drivers updated, rolled back and 1000's drivers tried. (This points out a hardware issue)- Laptop does not freeze when moved if the wifi is DISABLED in Device manager- Laptop does not freeze when moved if the wifi is DISABLED in BIOS. Any other idea? The Laptop is still in warranty, however I can't find a customer service or repair service in Malta. Thanks

I have had this problem since new. The only solution is to keep the yoga 3 on a desk or somewhere where it will not get moved. Needless to say all the features that are tablet and tent features are out of the question. When this happens only a power button reset will work, This will even occur when booting up if the computer is moved. I am certain is has something to do with the sensor that detects screen orientation. At this point, I am thinking poorly of Lenova as this problem along with some of the keyboard keys becoming hard to register are combining to make this product appear generally cheap/defective. I did read something about turning off the Intel Rapid Display SSD link if I quoted that right, which I did, but the problem still persists. BTW I have seen a few posts where a similar problem occurs but the mouse cursor still responds, but in my situation everything freezes, even the mouse cursor, zero response to anything.

A:Yoga 3 Freezes when moved

I think you may have a hardware problem, could be something related to HDD or the complete motherboard.

My advice would be to contact Lenovo Support and ask them for a repair. Please note that it is extremely important that you provide your problem details (freezing on moving laptop), othewise they wont be able to identify it.

Dear Support Team,

I have a laptop that I use for official and personal purposes. From the past 4 days I've been having trouble booting the system in normal mode. After a few seconds of showing up the desktop, the system just freezes/hangs and does not respond to any of the mouse clicks or any requests that I make.

Below are my laptop specifications and I purchased it on 15-Apr-2009.

Windows edition:
----------------
Windows Vista Home Basic with Service Pack 2

System:
-------
Manufacturer = Dell
Model = Vostro V1510
Processor = Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5870 @ 2GHz 2GHz
Memory (RAM) = 3 GB
System type = 32-bit operating system

I have the e-Scan anti virus installed.

The problem started on 10-Apr. I was able to boot successfully in normal mode on 10-Apr morning and use the laptop without any issues until sometime in the noon. From 10-Apr evening or night the problem started appearing, and I was not able to boot in the normal mode anymore, and the problem still persists.

I'm able to boot my laptop in Safe mode. In the 'Safe mode with networking' I can also connect to internet from LAN and Wireless.

In normal mode the system boots up until I view the desktop, but only a few system icons are loaded like volume, Network and Battery, the other icons are not loaded.
And once these icons are loaded I see a cursor symbol (a round one) that indicates that the system is performing someting and that I have to wait till it completes, but ... Read more

I'll start this out by saying I have an old computer.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (32-bit)
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.21 GHz
RAM: 2.00 GB
Graphics: Radeon X1950 Pro

I FREQUENTLY freeze up. Sometimes it's when the computer is just booting up, after I've put in my logon password. Sometimes it seems to be random. Most of the time it's when I'm trying to change zones, or do other things in Everquest 2. The machine is running Windows 7 Ultimate at the moment, but I was having the same issues when running Windows XP 64-bit. I thought it might have been the hard drive, so I bought a new one, only to become more concerned when the problems continued.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this may be happening? Are there any utilities I can use to help diagnose my problem without having to take it to a tech and pay money I don't have to get it looked at? Any help is much appreciated. If any information is needed in addition to what I gave, please let me know.

I am having the same exact problem... Right now I'm re-installing win7 cause I couldn't even run safe mode without it freezing, it use to just restart, now it just freezes up... Take a look at my post, I don't have the link sorry, but it is in this sub forum

Hi,

I'm using my friend's computer and her msn usually starts up when we first log in. As well it shows on the toolbar but now it does not. Even if we try to run the program it won't.

Windows explorer and all other folders including the control panel just freezes when opened. This just happened a few days ago maybe after an AVG update? She is running Windows XP pro with SP3 I think. Below is a HJT log in case it helps.

I was given a computer today that is apparently eaten up with spyware. I want to give it to a local charity if I can get it working. The Windows XP screen will open, but then it freezes if I try to click on any icon. So I really can't navigate to do anything. I know the previous owner installed Pro antivirus 2009 wich I understand is bad. Can someone offer me some suggestions how to get control and then clean it up? Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to TSF.

If you are giving this computer to charity, you need to zero the hard drive and start afresh.

I've got a Yoga 15, 16GB of RAM, 1TB SSD. It shipped to me in June with Windows 10 pre-installed, and after applying all updates, it had problems with freezing randomly several times a day. Hardware diagnostics all checked out OK; all OS and Lenovo-supplied updates were applied, BIOS was updated. I even sent it back to the vendor, they re-imaged the drive and shipped it back to me, and after re-applying all updates again, the problem persisted. Eventually I downgraded to Windows 7, and it ran fine for the last 10 months with no freezing. Once the Windows 10 Creators Update came out, I upgraded to Windows 10 again, and immediately the freezing problems came back. I downloaded new Creators Update installation media from Microsoft, formatted the drive, and did a clean install. Applied all updates from Windows and from Lenovo, and still have problems with the laptop freezing several times per day. Windows update has no updates pending. Lenovo system update has no updates pending. All drivers are current. Lenovo hardware diagnostics completes and shows no problems. No errors are written to the Windows event log when it crashes. It's just a hard freeze that forces me to power off and reboot, probably once every hour or two. While I'm confident that downgrading to Windows 7 again will solve the problem, Windows 10 is supposed to be supported on this hardware. What else can I possibly try?

Had to restore back to previous version of Windows 10 and defer WIndows updates. Any other Yoga 2 Pro users experiencing this? Dave

I have a Yoga 910 (i7, 16GB, 4k display) that hangs every time I run Windows 10 calculator. This has been happening ever since I got it and multiple updates have not resolved it (except to eventually kill calc). Chrome also produced the same symptom and I disabled HW exceleration to resolve that. I haven't found anything that help the calculator issue (even uninstalled and re-installed via Windows Store). Please help.

A:Yoga 910 and Windows 10 Calculator freezes

Hi there. I'd suggest first opening the Windows App store and updating the calculator app from there. Then, try these steps:
1) On Start panel, type in powershell. Then choose Windows PowerShell option from the list.2) In the PowerShell window, type in the following command:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register ?$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml?}
Then hit Enter.
The above command will re-register all Windows 10 default apps on your computer. Wait for the process to finish and try running your Calculator again.

If that doesn't work, follow it with running SFC or DISM. Here's more info on that: https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/windows-10-repair-fix-problems-with-sfc-and-dism/

Hope that helps!

After i upgraded to BIOS 2XCN30WW(V2.05) dated 2017/06/21 i started to experience lags and temporary freezes (for 20/30 seconds and it would recover) while using windows 10 creators edition. The lag/freeze can be described as a period of time every 10 minutes or so in which the computer stops responding to keyboard input and eventually to mouse movements, if you had a youtube video or audio playing in the background it starts coming out distorted, everything makes you think there is something hogging the CPU or RAM, it recovers itself after 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes less than that.I first blamed Slack Client but quickly found that it didn't have anything to do. It didn't seem related to load as the CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager remained low during these periods.I then blamed a recent Windows Update patch , which i rolled back prompty without noticing any changes. My last option and what ultimately resolved the issue is the rolling back the BIOS upgrade that i applied at about the same time of the windows patch.I enabled the Allow Back-Flash option in BIOS setup and rolled back to version 2XCN29WW, and the problem dissapeared for good, and just to confirm that the BIOS was to blame after a few days of happy computing i decided to give the new BIOS another try and TADAH! soon after the update the freeze/lags started again.I just wanted to share this with you guys in hopes that if you are having similar issues you can resolve them using this message. And since Lenovo doesn't seem... Hi,

About two weeks ago, my laptop just locked up in the middle of usage and when I tried to hard reboot it, it wouldnt even start up. The lights and fan would go on but nothing would load. I waited about 30 minutes and it would boot up normally but it froze after about an hour of use. The next day the laptop worked fine and this remained true for a week. After that, it froze and I couldnt get it to boot up for quite a while, and when I did, it would freeze immediately or within a few minutes. I thought the ram could've been bad so I swapped the ram and slot but it still froze. I recently discovered that when I do boot the laptop, it would freeze when I moved it slightly. Does anyone know what is wrong with my laptop? I dont want to have to replace it.

Thank you

For the last few weeks, my computer has been acting up by slowly turning white randomly. I soon found that when it started to turn white, I could move the hinge or shake the computer gently, and it would start working again. Now, I can't move my computer and mess with the hinge, or else it will freeze, but will unfreeze when I move it again. For example, it did it three times while just typing this.
What's causing this and how do I stop it?

I've had my laptop for a couple of years now and I'm not entirely sure when this problem began occuring, but whenever I move my laptop, it freezes. It doesn't matter what I'm doing - I can just be on my desktop homescreen but if I move my laptop a certain way, tilt it, change the angle of the screen, almost always it will freeze. Then I will have to press the power button just to put it to sleep, and then when I press it again it will usually be back to normal; sometimes I have to shut it off and restart it completely. I've tried installing different drivers and whatnot, but nothing seems to work. It's really annoying to always have to use my laptop at a desk. Sometimes, the screen will turn black and recover on its own and a message will pop up saying the display driver has stopped responding but has recovered. I'm also not a gamer and even if I'm watching videos, the laptop will be completely fine as long as it's on a flat surface. But, again, it will freeze once I move it.  Has anyone experienced this before?  Please give me whatever help or tips you can, as I'm willing to try pretty much anything to fix this.

It does it whether battery fitted or not and even with a USB mouse attached.  Has never been worked hard or badly treated. I have run its diagnostics and it reports everything OK.  Think it may be something to do with accelerometer if it has one.  Not the most computer techy type so just basic advice please.

My computer has recently begun freezing about 10 seconds after I log in to my account on XP. Zonealarm will partly load, but when moused over in the taskbar it says "Protection is up, UI initializing". Bitdefender sometimes comes up and it occasionally tries to update. The mouse still moves, but the start menu won't open and neither will any programs or task manager. I'm fairly sure that it isn't a virus or malware because sometimes my computer will come up and I am able to run virus scans that come up empty. The clock also doesn't update and sometimes when i mouse over the task bar i get the hourglass that show the computer is thinking. The problem has been getting worse over the course of a couple weeks. When it used to only freeze for a couple minutes task manager would show cpu usage below 5% and less than 1 gig of ram in usage. The computer boots fine in safe mode. I have tried disabling automatic update and using system restore and restore to last known good config.

A:IE7 freezes on loading yahoo.com, but not firefox [Moved from IE]

Well I went into safe mode and loaded the site up just fine, then in IE7-it just finally loaded up.(that was a couple days ago).
But now sometimes I'll find a few random sites where it freezes up in IE7 and when I go into safe mode and load it up, it seems to fix it in Normal mode.

PC World.com, also gave me that. And a link inside PC world, did the same thing. Then I went into Safe mode again, then normal mode again and that loaded, from being froze too.

Thing is I keep finding sites where it will freeze on me, but I've been using my parents IE7 as well on those same site and their browser never froze once, and this computer has been infected before once (their computer), but my computer is CLEAN. I even have uniblue registry booster to scan my computer as well (note that I put this on after having these IE7 problems).

I have also reformatted my hard drive, just 12 hours after my first post, but this problem came back. I'm really clueless as to what's going on, or if I happen to have a very stealthy virus (have 2 anti-viruses, 1 anti-spyware program running on my computer all the time). Help Me!

Hi all,

Sorry for posting this again, I didn't get any reply. Please see it this makes any sense. Thanks

My desktop (Win XP pro, SP 3) recently seemed to have some big issues. I downloaded some video files and the next day after using some programs and having the browser open for sometime, the computer froze. I had to restart many times and it kept happening. Then I started an AV scan with Trend Micro. The scan got stuck at one particular file (some file that was created before this happened with I compiled some VC++ program). So, I thought that file might be infected and I cut and pasted that file elsewhere. Then again the scan get stuck at another file in the same directory. If I kept the scan on for some more time the computer again froze. If I didn't include this directory in the folders to be scanned, the AV scanner doesn't show any progress at all - gets stuck at 0% progress. When I try to scan for spyware etc. using Ad-Aware or Spybot the computer again froze. So, I restarted the computer in Safe mode and did the virus scan, but the same result. I also tried to scan using AVG scanner (of course uninstalling Trend Micro), but for the same outcome - froze after some time (few hours with AVG).

After reading in some forums, I found few external AV scanning programs like Clamwin, McAfee stinger. Clamwin finally found one Trojan userinit. But it seemed like it didn't remove the file since, I could see the file. Then I found that it is a system process, so ... Read more

Purchased the HP 17 Gold Luxe laptop with Windows 10 less than two months ago. This past week it started freezing up when moved even slightly or when picked up. This happened during mundane browsing or using the computer even just to write notes, not anything using lots of resources like gaming or even streaming video.  After looking around online I saw several suggestions including to try removing the battery. I removed the battery and sure enough it did not freeze when moved if battery is REMOVED and the laptop is plugged in.  Does this mean the battery is faulty? Again this is a brand new laptop, less than 2 months old. It is under warranty. Am I going to have to ship the laptop to some HP service center or will they likely just send a replacement battery or what?  Other notes, specs of the computer are below. Note that I did not change/add/remove any drivers or anything like that, it is still as it was when taken from the box.  Includes Pavilion 17-g201cy laptop with AC adapter, four-cell lithium-ion battery, and manual; and PC Treasures software digital download (ships separately)Windows 10 operating system1.8GHz AMD A10-8700P APU quad-core accelerated processor with 2MB L2 cache, up to 3.2GHz with Turbo17.3" diagonal WLED-backlit HD+ touchscreen display with 1600x900 resolution12GB DDR3L SDRAM1TB 5400 RPM hard driveSuperMulti DVD drive802.11b/g/n Wi-FiBluetooth wireless technologyAMD Radeon R6 graphics with up to 4864MB total graphics ... Hello guys! First of all, english is not my native language, so I hope I won't make too many mistakes. As stated in the title, I own the Lenovo Yoga 500 - 14IBD. Whenever I move the display inwards it gets black for a little while (maybe 1 - 2 seconds) and then gets back to normal. I don't have this problem when I move the display outwards. I guess I has something to do with the switiching between tablet and normal mode? Does somebody know how I can turn this off? My guess is that some sensor is broken. I wouldn't mind uninstalling some drivers if it helps (I mean I can switch manually between tablet and normal mode in the settings). Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello there!,
First of all, my apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum.

I have been having a very frustrating problem with my pc ...it freezes almost every time I run a wmv or mp3 files ,whether its a file I've downloaded or streaming, and it doesnt matter which media player I use( WMP, MPC and VLC) ,Although when using vlc player , it doesnt freeze right away like when using the other 2 players(WMP and MPC),but it will freeze eventually It also freezes most of the time I try to view a youtube video, and even when using some of the msn messenger features like the sending a nudge. This problem, however, doesn't occur when I play rm,mov or avi files.

I didn't have this problem before, but at some point this started to happen...I thought my pc could be infected with some virus or malware, so I formatted my pc,installed new win xp pro and downloaded motherboard drivers, directx 9.0c(full package) and VIA_HyperionPro_V513A ...And after all of that ,the same problem still exist

-I have a GIGABYTE motherboard http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...d/Default.aspx Model : GA-7VKML

Note* :I had a problem installing the audio driver( motherboard_driver_audio_realtek_whql.exe )..half way through installation progress, the pc shuts off and restarts by itself.

_ device manager looks okay,no yellow ! marks .

Help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I realise there is a thread with a similar title and problem but the solutions there do not help me. I am running an Acer Aspire 5735 laptop with Vista Home Premium 32-Bit SP2, with Intel Core2 Duo CPU [email protected] and 4GB RAM.

Lately it has increasingly started to freeze up, before going to the crash dump BSOD and rebooting, freezing during reboot requiring me to switch of computer and restart manually. It is now doing this pretty much daily, and sometimes several times a day. Could this be a driver compatibility problem or software clash? It never used to happen, at least not this often.

Here is my HijackThis log file:

Please help :) Many thanks in advance...

You have a lot of stuff running there.

I would start by uninstalling anything that you do not use or did not install in your add-remove programs.

I would definitely get rid of McCraffe. (if you can)_
I would also uninstall windows defender and AVG anti spyware.

I would disable zune, xbox, ctfmon from start up and much much more.

Then I would download and run MRU Blaster and CCleaner

Everthing you installed looks like it is running on start up.

Hi, This is about my Thinkpad P50 Xeon 64 GB Ram machine with RAM installed both on top (under the keyboard) and bottom. When I move the laptop - especially while holding the machine at the bottom or when I put it on a table or my lap, the machine freezes. It freezes in whatever state it was in - if the screen was on - it freezes with the screen on and if the screen was off due to inactivity - it freezes with the screen off. The only thing that I can do is to long press the power button and get it to reboot. I have been very carefully holding the laptop from the side and taking extra care while putting it on the table as a workaround... I have not seen it happen while moving the machine into the slept mode. With the cover closed - the machine goes in the sleep mode.I have not (yet) seen the issue occur when I bring it up from the sleep possibly because I have been bringing up the machine only once the machine is completely in a stable state like on a table or a flat surface... Hope someone can help me understand and fix the problem. I have been facing the problem for a year and had reported it to Lenovo while I was still covered in warranty but got no help - was just asked to re-install windows....

Misc tasks, screen freezes, video driver unloads, BSOD atikmpag.sys
Okay, this is going to be long and drawn out, so let me start with my sincere apologies.

Description of the issue:
I rebuilt my entire machine a couple months ago, after purchasing a TechNet Plus subscription, new ATI Radeon 5870 2GB video card, and new AMD PhenomII X4 965 CPU. I promptly installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and started loading all up-to-date drivers and applications. Then, the problems began. I would be playing WoW and the game would freeze, the screen would turn gray, then black, then the fan on the video card would spin up to 100% throttle (Windows unloaded the video driver), then about 60-90 seconds later, I would get a BSOD with either atikmdag.sys or lately it has been atikmpag.sys. This would also happen while watching video clips in either Windows Media Player or VLC, and sometimes even when watching YouTube videos (both in IE or Firefox).

System Specifications:
Asus Crosshair II Formula motherboard
AMD PhenomII X4 965 CPU
4 GB Patriot RAM
Sapphire ATI Radeon 5870 2GB
AHCI Controlled Hard Drives and CD-Drives
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (Technet)

Attempts at resolution:
1. Reinstalled Windows 7
2. Reinstalled Windows 7
3. Took system to local computer shop and received a replacement video card from stock
4. Reinstalled Windows 7
(while reinstalling Windows, attempted to use ATI Catalyst Drivers version 9.12 (from original CD), 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, and finally 10.5 installed on 6/3/2010)... Read more

Good catch, Ageeb. I completely forgot to mention that.

I used Ubuntu to completely test all my RAM, and none of the tests "failed." I know that doesn't mean that the memory is "good," but rather that it was just able to pass the tests acceptably.

I also did a burn/benchmark in with Sisoft Sandra for the CPU, and FurMark for the GPU. Two days ago, I left FurMark running on the machine for over 4 hours, and the GPU temp never passed 81 degrees C. At that time, I did not check the CPU temperature, as it wasn't on that screen, and the CPU wasn't being taxed at that time.

I will note one other observation. I can play World of Warcraft for 5 hours plus and have no crashes what so ever now. I can also play StarCraft II Beta for more than 5 hours without a crash. But if I fire up Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and start a scenario, it takes less than 30 minutes for the system to crash, every time. I cannot forcibly replicate the crash while watching movies or video clips at this time, that is still completely random, maybe once or twice per week. RCT3 is the sure-fire way to make this occur.

Hello,

I have been having some issues for the last couple of days with my computer.  I first experienced trouble with Firefox while watch a simple Twitch Stream.  For no reason (as the computer was completely idle save the stream) I received a message saying Shockwave Player (or some script on the page) stopped responding.  The popup gave me the option to wait for the script to respond, or to kill it.  I attempted to kill it, by opening up Task Manager.  This took maybe 3 minutes to open up, while in the process hung my entire system the whole time, and then led to Firefox itself to completely lock up.  As well, when attempting to open up Task Manager in the first place, if at first the window did not show up I would attempt to open it again.  The first time by using the Ctrl, Shift, Escape combination, and when that was unsuccessful (as it normally pops up instantly), I would thusly right click the taskbar to open it that way.  By doing this method it would take minutes for the popup from the taskbar itself to showup.  After finally getting Task Manager open, I would see two different Task Manager processes.  One at roughly 4k kilobytes of memory, while the other ~100.  As someone with a tiny bit of OCD I would close the smaller kilobyte one by right clicking it to kill the process from the popup menu.  Right clicking the process would give me no window, nor would hitting kill process from the tab on the Task... I have owned this unit for 3 weeks.  Multiple times it has frozen, then blackscreened, where the keyboard is still lit up, the charger button lights up (if plugged in), and the power switch, but nothing on the screen, and the power button is unresponsive as the screen: doesn't work to turn it off or on.I have researched but not seen anyone else having this problem with 720, but it seems a recurrent problem from 710 & 910 units.  I finally found a reboot option in one of those threads: to hold the power button for 20 seconds until the machine whirs, then release and turn it on.  That gets it booted back, but doesn't prevent this issue from happening every few days.  This also seems to happen after Windows or system updates. Related to this (I think) is that my Office 2016 products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) several times a day freeze and become unresponsive.  They will not close through the task master, and when I try to do a "restart," it refuses because it can't close those programs and tells me  to close those programs manually--which I can't do either.  Sometimes I can shut down with the power button & restart, sometimes it blackscreens and I have to go through the above process.I have checked all the various updates suggested on Lenovo site & several reliable outside fora (where I found the boot fix); my machine is totally current.VERY VERY FRUSTRATING.  I have been through a solid 2 months of computer issues and ha... I bought my laptop last year so it's relatively new. However, I've been having a problem for some time now. At random times, my laptop glitches for two seconds or so, goes back to the normal screen then freezes. I have no choice but to force it to shut down. I looked it up, forums say it might be a malware or an overheating problem. I ran mcafee and there were no issues found. As for overheating, well my computer gets hot a lot, but I don't think that's the problem since the fans look clean to me (though I'm not really an expert here), plus this problem occurs even if my computer's temperature is not that high. Also, I guess I should mention this: I originally had windows 8 but upgraded it two months ago to windows 10. I don't know if that has anything to do with this, since the problem was already happening even before the update (but it happened more frequently afterwards). Thanks in advance

I'd probably blame that on the site you're viewing rather than Chrome, itself. Make a note of the tabs you have going when the freeze happens. Also note any extensions you have running or installed. Especially if you don't recall installing them.

To test, only open two tabs.. one for Gmail and one for a normal Google Search. Don't go anywhere else. You can type stuff in the search box, just don't click on the results. Don't read any mail, either. See if it freezes. I picked those as they're Google's own sites and shouldn't cause any issues. If you get freezes with just those open, remove and reinstall Chrome.

A lot of times, content in various websites can cause Chrome to crash.. especially Flash content as Chrome uses its own Flash extension and not the plugin other browsers have.

Speaking of plugins, disable any you've added to Chrome. Ad blockers can freeze Chrome. Sometimes, software you install places toolbars in Chrome that can cause it to crash. Sometimes ... Read more

Have you tried holding the power button until it shuts down? What you are reporting has happened a couple of times to me, and holding the power button turns off the computer. Then I plug in the power and then turn it on again.

If you still have a problem with it starting up, try starting in safe mode and see if it will boot. Let me know.

I've been using it for a couple of days only and already it has several times frozen to a state where nothing else than pressing power button for a long time helps. The issue can be repeated if I e.g. leave the laptop viewing youtube it will freeze. It varies how it takes but it seems to always happen sooner or later. Is there any other fix to this but refund? I was planning to have this laptop for several years and the start is not very promising. So I'll be pretty easily executing my right to return within 30 days. Thanks for any advice!

hi jeanclaude,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

Your problem might be similar to the first question on this thread.

Can you try to disable this service called "ymc" or Yoga Mode Control by doing the following:
1. Open control panel and type "Local services" in search box
2. Click on Local services, scroll down to ymc, right click > properties > stop > startup type - disabled.
3. Restart laptop and the keyboard and mouse disabling problem should be fixed.

Credits goes to Hasan10.

Let me know your findings

Hello.Earlier today I turned off my laptop. When I later tried to turn it back on again it just won't start. The computer freezes in, what I guess is, a memory test procedure. It jsut says "100% of system memory tested OK", and then: "8,589,934,592 bytes of system memory tested OK". After that, nothing happens.I've tried to hard reset it by holding down the powerbutton until it dies, and played around with the power connector, but to no luck. Right now I'm trying to drain the battery fully to see if that changes anything.I have no idea why this happend, just out of the blue, and would really appreciate any help that i can get. Thanks in advance

And I decided to play Portal again and I see it's impossible in ths computer because it's so slow and it's freezing constantly. The thing its I can't really see why, in the task manager it deosn't go beyond 40% of CPU or ram, I'm really starting to think this is a hardware problem, because the model I have is the one 16 GB or ram so it shoul be running smothly on a normal usage. But In the Lenovo companion I run the test and it says everything is fine. Does anyone had a problem like this? Going to the store is very complicated because I'm not living in the country where I bough it...

I purchased the Yoga 3 Pro January 2016.  I've not been able to use it more than a week due to an issue that causes it to freeze and a hard reset is needed to get it to work again. The freeze occurs when the laptop is held usually when I'm holding while walking or moving it.  When it's flexed it will freeze and I can not use the keyboard, mouse, touch screen, or external mouse.  Any unsaved work is of course lost.  I've sent it in for warranty repair however they sent it back stating it was working as designed.  I find that hard to believe that a laptop must be booted on a desk and not moved or adjusted while used. Has anyone else had this issue?  Is there anything that can and is there a logical reason why this is not something that's covered under warranty? Tom
