firefox facebook issues...

Q: firefox facebook issues...

I have been using waterfox actually but, it is essentially firefox.
Yesterday morning everything was working normally...  I went out bird watching with my oldest daughter... when I came back(my computer stays signed off, nobody messed with it) I was having trouble with facebook.  All the pages were having trouble loading.  Some I'd have to refresh over and over and they'd just sit there.  I was able to do some things but it took a long time.  VERY VERY laggy...  Like, I was ready to pull my hair out.
It was only facebook... no other sites were giving me trouble.
Today I tried IE and just navigated all the pages I could while not logged in.  NO problems.  Pages loaded normally.  So I went to firefox instead of waterfox and, still the same issue.
I started to go through some of my addons, disabling them.(shouldn't really have to for ONE website).  I don't know what happened, what changed yesterday that would cause this but, with firefox and waterfox, facebook is still not loading properly for me.
I wonder if I can view info on any addon updates or anything else that may have occurred when I went back online yesterday afternoon.  I mean, something, somewhere had to change right?
I am not going to use IE...  and for those ready to suggest it, I will not use Chrome either.
I'm scratching my head wondering what happened.....   I don't understand how all these other sites are working just fine and facebook is giving me such issues...  and only on the browser(s) I want to use.  :/
hmmm

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: firefox facebook issues...

May know the culprit... or at least, can narrow it down for anyone that might have thoughts... anyone?
So, I'll restate......
Facebook wont load half the time and when it does, it hangs and doesn't load completely...
This happens for firefox and waterfox, but didn't seem to happen in IE...
Checked this afternoon and this was on my computer as well as a laptop in the house...
Well, that laptop is with my wife in another town right now and, while I'm still having the facebook issues, she is not.
So...  Just firefox browsers, just this house, just facebook......... ODD...
What I'm about to explain and suggest wouldn't make sense to me unless it was IE as well.......  but, here it goes...
Not too long ago, I switched the DNS that my router was using.  I had been having intermittent trouble with ONE particular facebook game.  It was decided that my ISPs DNS was causing the problem with the servers for that facebook game.  I switched the DNS settings to use Comodo's...  (someone suggested google's but, I do NOT trust google... ha)
Anyway... switching the DNS to comodo's settings fixed the game errors immediately and I've had no issues with it since...  (well, except for when I try to visit a local news station, comodo's dns thing would say that news site was linked to yadda yadda yadda, and I had to make temporary exceptions... )
Anyway.....
Could this be a DNS issue?  I mean, Both computers had the issue here but now that one is in another location, it's not a problem there.
So... the problem(one way or another) has to be here.
I guess I can go log into the router and change it back to the ISPs DNS and see what happens......

Edit:  I just went in to the settings and, where there are two numbers, I just swapped them around...  Put the secondary as the first one...
Immediately, 10  times better.  The pages aren't loading SUPER fast, but they're loading...
interesting...
Edit: scratch that...  back to not working...

Hello,

I have an interesting situation. In the last 2-3 days, when I open Facebook the page is zoomed out so I can barely read the text. This happens using Firefox. I did update to the latest 41.01 recently & I think it started after that. I did install a previous version but it's still the same. All other sites are normal. I also have Pale Moon & Commodo Ice Dragon browsers which are Firefox based & they are fine. Any ideas?

Thanks,

I am running Firefox and the problem is when I connect to Facebook both of them start disconnecting and re-connecting. This problem only happens with Facebook I can have many windows open including Pogo.com and it down not do this UNTIL I open Facebook. Now this problem does not exist in IE or Google. Biggest problem is you can not get an answer (ever) from Facebook.
Would appreciate any help I can get..

A:Firefox and Facebook

Hi tonyarc I'm not a big fan of Facebook though I do use it to see some of my kids photos, I am a Firefox fan though.
It is a good thing to make sure you have the latest version of Firefox though that may not necessarily be the cause of your problem. Some times your extensions and plugins can cause conflicts and one way to prove that is to temporarily disable them all then close Firefox and restart it then if facebook works ok try one by one enabling them till you find the one that is causing the conflict.

to do this go to tools then click Addons. There you have access to first Extensions and then plugins

It is also possible that your problem is caused by some malware.

I will have to go and disable just about all my addons to try and figure this out...
A few games I play are not working in firefox right now.  one wont load at all, another goes to 80% and then stops.
The game that wont load at all was working just 3 or 4 days ago.
Since the last time it worked...  well, my memory is kind of poor when it comes to time and days...  I thought firefox updated recently but I don't remember.
I have not added any addons, I know that much.  The last day one game worked... it was, at least I blamed it, hogging resources.  Everything was bogged down and I went into task manager to find firefox using 3 Gb of memory.  My system has only 4Gb so that is a problem.  I shut firefox down and reopened it and things ran more smoothly.  I don't remember if I tried playing that game again after that, but it doesn't seem that it has worked since then.
I guess I have to go disable all my addons and try things out one at a time... and if that doesn't work, I'm looking at reinstalling firefox all together.
I will not use chrome(in case anyone wants to suggest that) and I don't want to use IE either.
I did just login to facebook using IE and tested one of the games and it is working through that.
Anyway... off to troubleshoot...
Side note...  There's a million things about facebook that frustrate me...  :/

Hello,
As of a couple days ago, I have been unable to access Facebook with my Firefox browser. It automatically redirects me to a yahoo page saying "sorry, the page you requested was not found." and goes on to tell me to check my spelling of the URL and to try visiting the Yahoo homepage. I'm worried that my PC has been compromised. This problem seems to be isolated to only Firefox as I can access the page with IE. In addition, I just updated firefox to see if that would fix the problem, which it didn't. I have attached a screen shot of the page that I get redirected to.

Thank you for the help in advance.

Latest FireFox with 64 bit Windows 7.
It only happens on facebook, and it is annoying.
I open firefox, and I go to facebook, First off, the logon screen. About 5 Milimeters is missing off the top of the logon screen. I can only see half of the Username and Password Areas. The FACEBOOK Logo is not there, it should be, and I fear there are other pictures on the logon page that are missing too.

I can log in, but more issues ensue. Lets start with the main facebook page, the one you get on when you login, the friend feed page?
Yea, Okay lets start at the top.
Im missing the facebook logo, the friend request logo, the mail logo, and the notifications logo. They are still there, you just cant see them.
Now for Chat.
Can't see smileys, can't see the Grey or Green dot, or the Gray Moon. (Like, I'll be talking to somebody, but there wont be anything next to their name to indicate whether they are logged on, off, or are away...)
My chatbox area is grey, no matter what. and when I type into the chatbox, I am typing about 4 milimeters to the right, instead of at the beginning.

I'll take screenshots, if you want them just ask
(Please do tell me how to post pictures on here?)

I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times. I've updated firefox, Ive downdated firefox...It's only on my computer! I fear it to be a registry issue of some sort.
I've been using chrome (I like that there are no toolbars, and theres less than an inch of space being used at the top. More page to see.)

I suspect macafee may be causing those problems but you'll have to completely remove it to be sure whether it is macafee or not. As long as you have Windows Firewall enabled and don't download any files while testing without macafee installed, you'll be safe.

If all works okay without macafee installed you'll need to choose a different security software.

So i have been using Firefox for the past couple years. Recently, i have upgraded my OS from Windows vista home edition 32bit to Windows 7 professional 32bit. After i upgraded, I installed and loaded Firefox fine, however, when clicking on "messages" or "comment" or "poke" or "like" nothing happens.

The reason why i suspect Firefox to be the issue, is i have disabled all addons and the problem persists. I have not noticed the issue on any other sites, so it might be Facebook's interaction with Firefox. I have tried IE8, and can get a connection to all the features of Facebook, but I don't like having to do that to catch up with my friends and whatnot. Firefox also worked fine with Facebook while i was using vista. Also the messages inbox, and individual messages do not load. I have tried deleting cookies and clearing the cache. I have made sure that Javascript is enabled. I have made sure that firefox is updated. The chat function also does not work; it only tells me the number of friends online.

if you could save me the annoyance of using IE, I would like to thank you in advance. I will try to attach some screen-shots.

I have had my laptop for six months. Never had a problem like this until last week, when opening Facebook started causing my Firefox to crash randomly. I did a reformat a few weeks ago, because my laptop was full of crap and frankly, the easiest way to clean it up was to just start fresh. But this issue is starting to drive me crazy, especially since it doesn't happen with IE -- and I have no intentions of going back to IE if I have any choice at all.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this issue? It never happened before I did the reformat, and it happens constantly at this point. I've run virus scans and nothing is coming up, so I'm thinking it's not a virus. Plus, I mean, if it were a virus, I'm thinking it would occur with more than just Facebook.

Anyway...if anyone has any ideas/advice, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

Hi all,

I've been having this problem since last weekend, and I'm slowly running out of ideas to what it could be so any advice or tips would be great please.

First of all, last night I booted into Ubunto 10 and could access Facebook ok without any problems, so I think it's not a hardware problem with my broadband dongle.

Now here's my problem;

When I try to access Facebook all I get is a blank page and the message in the status bar of Firefox says "waiting for static.ak.fbcdn.net" and the page never loads.

If I go into my options in Firefox and disable java script the page will load but I can't post updates or chat.

If I leave java script enabled but type https for the facebook address it will load fine but when I click on any link it then tries to load the http version and stalls again.

What I've done so far;

- I've done these steps numerous times and rebooted/scanned between removal and installs. Installed one step at a time, etc.) -

Cleared browser cache and cookies, both IE and Firefox.
Pinged Welcome to Facebook - OK
Pinged static.ak.fbcdn.net - OK
Uninstalled Firefox and Java.
Ran CCleaner to clean out old files and registry.
Installed the latest Java for 32Bit IE & 64Bit IE.
Installed the latest Firefox.
Checked my hosts file and removed all entrys and put it back to standard. (Entries were added by SpyBot S&D as part of it's immunisation process)

Some facebook games just don't seem to play well sometimes... and it doesn't help when they do not respond to error reports.    :/
Basically, this one game I play causes errors from time to time...  and not just for me.  Sometimes I can replicate it... meaning, doing the same action in the game will cause firefox to freeze for me EVERY time I do it.  That's awfully frustrating.
Today when it happened and I chose to simply close the unresponsive firefox... before I clicked the button to either close it or check for a solution before closing... I clicked the button for more details.  That had me wondering if the details listed there would be at all helpful.
I kind of doubt they are really as, I do believe the people that make the game need to work on some bugs on their end... but, it never hurts to look right?
So, here's the info it put out.  Just in case there's anything useful in there.

I've recently switched back over to my netbook which I hadn't used for a few months. Carried out the necessary security updates and performed a full scan. All good.

Logged into facebook scrabble on firefox but it wont fully load. The scrabble flashscreen (if thats the correct word) stays on and doesn't progress to loading games.

So far I have:
Tried in safe mode - works fine
Tried on IE - works fine

Updated ff browser, flash player and java.
Deleted temp files, cookies, etc
Disabled extensions (only security one was enabled which always is) and either disabled plug in or updated the ones needed.

This is the only game/app I play on fb so cannot say if its consistent on others.

Not sure what else I can try if anyone can offer advice. I'm using Windows 7. Anything I've forgot please prompt me.

Hey everyone,

I am currently having a problem with Facebook and Firefox. I have the most up to date version of Firefox which is 5.0 I think and whenever I try and get onto Facebook I either get one of 3 things happen.

1) I can get onto Facebook for a few pages and then it will stop working and I will get one of the following errors.
2) I will get a 501 internal error report pop up.
3) I will get the "Content Encoding Error"

I can sometimes sort the problem for a very short time by clearing all the internet history and cache and then restarting Firefox but the problem usually comes back.

I uninstalled firebox and left the "Keep personal settings and information" ticked so I didn't loose my bookmarks but the problem persists.

I am able to use Firefox in Internet Explorer but I really really dislike that browser and would like to get my fave browser working again.

Any information or pointers would be great.

Thanking in advance, Jack-O-Bytes

A:Facebook doesn't work in firefox any more

Yeah, I've noticed that about Firefox 5. They only advice I can give at this time is downgrade back to Firefox 4 or Firefox 3 until everybody else catches up with where Mozilla wants them to be.

Hi TSG! It's been awhile! I have an issue that I can't seem to find any info on. I'm not sure if it's an issue with Firefox, Windows 10 or a combination of the two. It seems more like a Firefox issue but since it happened shortly after the Win 10 upgrade, who knows...About a week after upgrading to Windows 10 I suddenly lost all sound when trying to watch videos online with Firefox. If I load Facebook using Microsoft Edge the videos play fine with sound and all. I found one link that fixed the issue with YouTube and eventually it seems all other sites except Facebook have started working. But for the life of me I cannot get any sound when playing videos on Facebook! The video displays fine there is just no sound at all. I have updated Firefox and all the extensions/add-ons. I tried updating video drivers but there never seem to be any driver updates. I am at a loss. Help please!

Hello. I am new here and am daunted by all the technical jargon you all so brilliantly use, so please be patient.

I have a Lenovo Laptop and am using Windows version 8.1 (this is where my knowledge of computers ends).

I need my Facebook account for work to promote my buisness and it isn't working anymore! It was working previously and has now stopped, I do not know why.

When I type www.facebook.com in the address bar of firefox, it just presents me with a page of indecipheral script (see photo above).

I tried to access it using Google Chrome, which worked for a while but now does not function correctly; although it allows me to log on, some of my contacts who happen to be online in the right hand column are showing as grey blanks and when I try to read my notifications, the little wheel (no idea what that is called) just turns and turns and nothing happens. I can read the newsfeed but I cannot post. It also will not allow me to log out so I have to open Facebook on my mobile and logout remotely from there. So annoying!

This is only a problem on my laptop as I can access Facebook from my mobile phone, as already mentioned, but that's a pain, I want to use my laptop!

Please can anyone help. I've read that I could disable add-ons but I don't have any on Firefox. I have plug-ins but I have no idea which ones I need and which ones I do not! I'm really stuck.

Thank you in advance.

Aurore

refer to the above title, I can't open the facebook URL where the message are come out. I'm not sure it is related to what. But I cant open only this URL, from Mozilla Firefox, not even from Internet Explorer. Other website can open, but only for facebook website cannot.

Could you please help me to settle up this problem?

It might be due to virus that I got from facebook last time. that time, my laptop damage until I need to format. I have format my notebook, but however, this problem occurs, where I can't open the facebook website at all.Only for facebook.

Good evening all,

I'm using Firefox version 3.0.8 on a Lenovo R61 with Windows XP SP3. I had an issue with a trojan called trojan.fakeavealert not too long ago, but I seem to be rid of it. Now, however, I'm having problems with Firefox. For example, I used to be able to type a word or phrase into my address bar and get redirected to the actual site (e.g. typing in the word "gmail" and getting gmail.com, or "myspace" and being automatically sent to myspace.com. Or, if matches can't be found, I was taken to the google search for that phrase). Now entering a word just sends me to blank page (e.g. http://gmail/). Also, I'll click on hits in Google and get sent to a site called fctravellife.com, xflifetravel.com, or supersearch2009. Additionally, when using facebook on any browser on my computer, the facebook chat is unresponsive and cuts on and off without actually sending anything I type. I don't know if these problems are related, but didn't want to discount the idea. Can anyone help me?

I have a MacBook OS 10.5.2 with Firefox 14.0.1. Yesterday Facebook mostly stopped loading with Firefox (it will load with Safari). The top blue bar loads, and if I click on Find Friends, that will load as well. If I click on Notifications, the loading gizmo shows up, but nothing happens. But if I click on "See all" under Notifications, a list of notifications will appear, but I can't click on any of them. Nothing else shows up/works on the Facebook page. I tried starting firefox in safe mode, and cleared the cache/cookies/browsing history, but that didn't help. There are no problems with any other websites.

OK Folks, I need help. I've been working on this for two days and have done everything I can think of and everything I can find on the net to do.
A couple of weeks ago I could no longer view photo's in Facebook using Firefox. IE works fine. All I get is the blank thumbnails. If I click on that I get a blank spot where the picture should be. I can, however, right click the photo blank and open it in a new link.
It only happens with Facebook. I've checked several other sites with Photo's and they all work.
All the pictures down the sides work OK. Just the photo's in the albums don't work.
I have rechecked the settings and it's set for public viewing.
Cleaned the cache with CCleaner deleted all history
Unchecked the FF popup blocker
Reinstalled FF11, FF12 beta3, FF 3.6, then back to FF 11 when all the others produced the same problem.
Reinstalled Adobe Flash Player 11 several times (with and without IE)
Reinstalled Java and Java Runtime.
Uninstalled or disabled all Add-ons
Facebook is not blocked on FF>Tools>Options>Content>"Exceptions"
It's just this computer. My other computer, sitting right beside it, works great.
I rarely use Facebook so I'm not super sharp with it. It seems like this is a setting somewhere that I'm missing.
Occassionally, a friend plays Farmville (or something like that).

Can anybody help me. I'm worn out and getting kind of crabby. I w... Read more

When I login to my Facebook account the webpage suddenly zooms. In options tab it says zoom 100% but it looks 200% or more.

A:On mozzila firefox Facebook page gets zoomed.

The newer version of FF is the problem. It uses some sort of DPI feature that changes the view. You just need to readjust. Also you can try an add-on call NoSquint to adjust your view.

Check this link at Mozilla for a possible work around.

Hi

This started a few days ago where some images in my feed show as black boxes. For example after scrolling for a couple of pages a photo posted will show as a black box. If I click on the picture it opens ok in a new view. Then I will scroll another couple of pages and the posters Icon will not show up, Just a black box.

Things I have done to try and resolve. Refreshed firefpx, deleted cache, deleted user profile, uninstalled and re-installed, disabled adblock plus, disabled hosts file. Running out of options.

Doesnt happen in IE11 or seem to happen on other pages. Clearing the cache seems to fix for a few pages then it starts again.

Anyone suggest a fix?

Tim

This problem was driving me nuts for a long time. All kinds of videos would play ok, except in Facebook on Firefox. I reinstalled Firefox and Adobe Flash, to no avail. It turns out that ADBLOCK was mistaking the facebook videos for advertisements. Go to TOOLS, click on ADBLOCK PLUS, click on filter preferences and click on add filter. Then enter the following as the filter name: @@||facebook.com^$document . This will stop ADBLOCK from blocking Facebook videos. Hope this helps and it doesn't take you as long to fix this problem as it did me!
