Error 81000306 with Windows Live Messenger.. help please?

Q: Error 81000306 with Windows Live Messenger.. help please?

I have had this really irritating error come about in the last week where I can't sign in to messenger. Error 81000306 indicates that the problem could be caused by a firewall, proxy settings, DNS cache. I followed all Microsoft's instructions but to no avail and I have ALLOWED msnmsgr.exe in ZoneAlarm, so the lack of info they're giving me is getting on my nerves. I even uninstalled, ran Registry cleaner and reinstalled but still nothing. Can anyone help?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

2. If you are able to visit the Messenger service status page and notice that there is a service issue, please visit the site later to determine when the service is available so that you can sign into Messenger. I recently had a SpeedStream 6520 wireless ADSL router installed in my home and ever since I am have been unable to log onto Windows Live Messenger always receiving the error message 81000306. I've tried all the steps that are laid out on the windows live help website and they do not work. What should I try to do to get it working again?
P.S.

I am able to get on to Windows Live Messenger using my sister's laptop (which uses the same router) however I am still unable to get on to it using my desktop computer.

I tried today for hours to sign in to my e-mail account. I had been signed in for hours before while at work. When I try to sign in here, I get the error message 81000306. I followed EVERY SINGLE instruction Microsoft gave me, and even went out into other support forums reading posts for help.

I tried to log in to another account and I was instantly logged in.

I can be logged in to virtually any account EXCEPT my main account.

What is the f---ng problem? What makes this ONE account (the only one I really use) incapable of connecting? I deleted the contents of the contacts folders and it didn't make a difference. Anyone who just links me to the same generic unhelpful MSN help page will be ignored.

I have Windows XP SP3, my firewall allows MSN Messenger. I shouldn't even be answering questions like these because THERE IS NOTHING WRONG ON MY END; I CAN SIGN IN WITH ANY OTHER ACCOUNT BUT THIS ONE.

When I log into my account on WLM it keeps coming up with:

"We were unable to sign you in to Windows Live Messenger, possibly because of a problem with the service or with your Internet connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the Internet.

To let us try and troubleshoot the problem, click the Troubleshoot button.

Error code: 81000306"

I then proceed to press troubleshoot and it passes all tests up to Key Ports... and comes up with:

"Failed to connect to the service. This could be due to improper proxy and firewall settings. Please review your proxy and firewall setting. Proxy settings can be accessed through Windows Live Messenger Options. For Firewall settings, please see the retailer's instructions."

I have a Gateway Laptop Model: MT6839b with Windows Vista Home Premium on a wireless connection from a NETGEAR DG834PN router, and I have been using the service for a year and about 5 months on this Laptop with no problems.

Along with messenger not working any webpage to do with msn does not load and this problem has also spread to the home desktop that is on the same router.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling about 5 times and this hasn't worked.

If I could get some help ASAP I would be thankful.

P.S. I'm not that technical so answers as simple as possible please :haha:

I just received this error code three days ago. I have scoured the internet and have completed every suggestion there is out there I believe thus far. The error code still pops up.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled.
I have cleared the socks and tested the TCP which is fine.
I can connect to the internet cause everything else runs fine but msn messneger.
My roommate can get onto msn messenger just fine. I can't.
I have checked and rechecked and checked again my firewall settings (pc-cillan) and they are fine. I have even shut it off to see if I could connect and no luck.
I have ran through the list of dll's and they have all succeeded.
I have purged all cookies and temp files.
I have deleted the msn contacts folders so they'd reload.
I have ran my regcure and my driver updater too. Everything is fine there.
Short of throwing the pc through the window, any other suggestions? I might have missed a few things that I have tried since I have been at this for hours and hours now.

Help please!

Someone might of changed your password. Go to your email login website and choose the "forgotten password" button, (if it has one) and it normally asks for your answer to your secret question. If you have managed to change your password i would advise you to update your anti-virus and spyware software and do a scan as you might have a keylogger which steals passwords etc. If you have no anti virus software google AVG anti-virus and spyware. It's free trial software. If you still can't sign, it may be a connection issue especially if your using a wireless connection, MSN messenger won't sign you in if the connection is to weak.

Solved: Windows Live- Invalid IP address + Error code 81000306
Hello. I'm having an issue with Windows Live Messenger.

Hi
I had Windows Live Messenger and I had installed the new beta version that came out 9.0 and I tested it out but I wasn't pleased with some of the functions it had so I tried unistalling it but for some reason it does not show in my Add//Remove Program so I went through my registry and hit Ctrl+F and I deleted everything that had Windows Live name because I wanted to install an older version of Windows Live (8.5) and it would not let me until I unistalled the newest. Anyways after I finished, it would let me now install the "Windows Live Installer" (the first process to install the messenger) and when I installed it I clicked on the link where it says "Start Messenger" which it would not do anything so I installed a really older version of messenger (5.1) and had a friend send me the 8.5 version, messenger.exe. So when I clicked it, it gave me an error that I did not have the msncore.dll so I downloaded the dll and sent it to the system folder and now when I click on the exe it throws me this error that I can't seem to find a solution. If anyone could help me out with it:

msnmsgr.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point [email protected]@@[email protected]@[email protected]@@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library MSNcore.dll

Thanks
PS I tried installing 9.0 beta again and it won't let me either. Im currently on crappy 5.1.

Found this:It?s not that difficult to remove the pesky little pile-on of a software: MSN Messenger!Let us keep it simple. First, make sure you have exited MSN messenger and unsinstalled any MSN Messenger related entry from Control Panel (START ? > CONTROL PANEL ? > ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS).Then, START ? > RUN the following command:RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.RemoveDone. That should remove it. If it doesn?t, check some more round-about and cumbersome ways from Microsoft that involve the Windows registry.http://support.microsoft.com/?id=302089

I have recently reinstalled my OS (Win XP Home) and installed "Windows Live Messenger" and I get this error when I try to log in: 8009000b. I have scanned my computer with AVG, Spybot S&D but nothing

The only thing I have done is disabling a few services (only ones the says disabled under "safe"): http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

Maybe I have disabled something that is needed for Windows Live Messenger? but i dont know what...

Thanks

edit: For the record.. i have reinstalled WLM 3 times

Do you use the thing?
If you don't, it would be wise to just uninstall it.

1) Click on Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs.
2) Select Add/Remove Windows Components.
3) Uncheck Windows Messenger.
4) Click Next.
5) Click Finish.
6) Restart the computer.

WLM worked flawlessly an hour ago but when I got back to the computer my messages weren't going through so I tried to sign out and back in again but I got error code 80072745. When I used troubleshoot, everything has a check except for wireless. I can use the internet fine, it's just wlm that's having internet issues. I've tried resetting my modem, router, rebooting, going into CMD and typing in "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew". Also, the only firewall I have is the default one and I haven't had any issues with it. Any tips?

Okay.. The error changed to 81000314 and I had to re-register the .dll files. It's working now.

Boy if anyone can figure it out I would be grateful. When I was signing into MSN live messenger I got a message failed because the service is temp unavailble. I looked on msn and did a clean uninstall then did a reinstall from download on msn live. It still did not work and I got the same message. I also tried several other things I run: MSXM13.msi did not work. I tried %windr%system32\regsvr with all the dll for every file that was listed on internet pertaining to this error and nothing works. I can get into my mail account with no problem just can't get into messenger live. I am using XP Pro on inspiron 9200 notebook. This program worked before.
After much work and time I found a way to get on the windows live messenger. I opened my Hotmail account and then clicked on messenger low and behold it said available I was able to open it by selecting a name of an available person and I was on.
I am going to try all the stuff but I think it will work this way. For some strange reason it will not sign in directly to windows live messenger from my computer without going to hotmail first. But I still can't video from this site and that is what I want to do. Bummer I thought I found it.

Ive recently started getting the error message 8000401a on Windows Lives Messenger 2009 as soon as I try to login- it says the service is temporarily unavailable. Ive tried repairing it through the change/remove function within the control panel, Ive tried uninstalling deleting all temp folders, cache and registry entry and redownloading it but no joy, and this error comes up with both of my email addresses as the login.

I had a virus on my comp earlier which AVAST took care of, and I have downloaded some new anti-malware packages today, but theyre not blocking it I dont think as even when I turn off any live protection I still get the error message. Windows live does not list this error in their support area and google searches present no solutions.

Any ideas why and what I can do to be aboe to login??

Please help! My windows live messenger is currently having severe problems. Whenever I try to start it, an error icon pops out and says "Windows live messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close". I have tried system restore, uninstall and reinstall, windows live sync and numerous other fixes but they have all failed miserably and my windows live messenger will not work. I suspect this is an old problem, but please help me quickly, thanks.

Hello there,

I had a problem signing in into WLM. Every time I sign in into the current version of Windows Live Messenger, I stay in for a few seconds and then there is an error message after which Windows Live Messenger shuts down. I use XP.
The error message is as follows:

"Windows Live Communications Platform has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

The error details are the following:

AppName: wlcomm.exe
ModName: kernel32.dll
AppVer: 14.0.8098.930
Modver: 5.1.2600.5781
offset: 00009eda

I tried to look up the file kernel32.dll and it seems to be legitimate. Is this a spyware/malware problem or is it something else?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I would welcome your help to resolve the above error when trying to open Windows Live Messenger. I have noticed a similar post but regrettably the outcome cannot be found on my computer.

My problem started after:

1. Setup Windows Live on new computer system using Windows 7, worked very well.
2. Imported my files from my old computer which had Windows Instant messenger and now when I start messenger I get the error: 800702e4

Any suggestions how to resolve this issue.

Thanks

Zigfreid
