I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I updated my laptop BIOS yesterday, downloading the file from Lenovo's website. The update went well, and the laptop restarted correctly after it. Then I shut down the lapotop after using it. Today, when I switched it on, I had just the image with the write LENOVO word on it, and the circle below it running as usual. It is maybe one hour that there is this screen on. any tips?

I press f2 at startup and get put into a black screen with white letters. I can either boot windows normally or run diagnostics. I need to change the boot order. I am running windows 7 off mac OS X if that would make a difference but I do not believe it would knowing I can still enter the boot menu. Windows still works like a regular windows computer but I can't seem to find the windows boot order. Can anyone help me with this? I have used Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool to format the USB correctly and install the ISO files. I am not sure where to go once in the windows boot menu so that is what I am asking for. Direction to the boot order so I can change it. Thanks!

A:Why can I not enter my boot options when in my bios menu?

Hello jeplonski Welcome to the Seven Forums! The place to look would be in the user manual for either the system if premade or the board if a custom build to find out exactly which F key you need to press at post time that's right when first turning on the power or following a system restart when either the factory logo screen appears or doesn't if disabled in the bios setup program for the main board itself.

Often it will be the F4 if not F8 or F11, F12 keys that are used for bringing up the one time boot device menu. The Del key or another of the F keys will be assigned for entering the setup program right after the drives and other devices are detected at post. Once in the advanced section of the bios you will find the boot order for assigning which will be first as well as if only one, two, or three drives or devices will be set in order.

For installation from dvd in past years the dvd drive would be set as first often if there wasn't any boot device menu you could bring to select cd rom drive and see Windows installed. You had to go back in following first system restart once all the setup files had been copied from disk to hard drive to set the OS drive as the first in the boot order. Now we generally either boot from the dvd or a USB Installation Key made up using the one time boot option.

The boot device menu is not found in Windows at post time but an optional boot menu you bring up at post time. Typically you should be seeing the F key indicated right as the sys... Read more

Hello,I'm not very tech-savvy, but I'll attempt to articulate my issue:I have a Z70, it runs Windows 10 64-bit. A few weeks ago I noticed it was taking longer and longer to boot. Soon 10-20 minutes, and as of this week, sometimes it won't boot at all. The power buttons come on, I can hear the fan and various rustlings of the motherboard working.  Things I have tried:Took out the battery, disconnected power cable, pressed power button for 30 seconds. Tried to boot up with battery alone -failed, tried to boot up with power cable alone -failed, tried both and it booted up within ~5 minutes. This strategy does not always work. Booted via Novo button - it doesn't provide me with the Novo menu, it sometimes boots normally, sometimes doesn't boot at all. Reinstalled windows 10, didn't work. I cannot access safe mode, and I cannot access the BIOS menu. Any solution that requires restarts is already iffy because my laptop most often will not restart at all.  I've seen some other posts that mention corrupt BIOS, is there any way to diagnose that without entering the BIOS menu? Or any other way of entering the BIOS menu without restarting my laptop? I've been looking at a lot of tutorials but, frankly they are intimidating if you know nothing of computers. Like, "simply remove the motherboard battery" isn't simple for me, I'm not even sure where my CMOS is and I don't want to mess around disconnecting bits of the motherboard because I'd probably break ... Hello.  Got this laptop this past Christmas, unfortunately has never worked very well.  Since I bought it, it's had this problem where every time I close the laptop and reopen it, the task bar disappears and the trackpad is unuseable.  I have to manually restart it to get it to work again.  I disabled sleep mode and still this problem would occur.  Then suddenly the trackpad stopped working altogether.  I have to plug in a USB mouse to use this laptop now.  I updated all drivers (including trackpad) and still I cannot use the trackpad.  Windows 10 is also fully updated.  I did not change anything in the control panel so am not sure why it suddenly stopped working.  I am attaching a picture I took showing the problem.  This is after opening up the laptop, you can see the taskbar has disappeared and screen is incorrect resolution.Honestly, this laptop is very disappointing and I'm frustrated that I got it.  I have a newborn at home so spending time on this is really annoying/difficult.  I hope very much that there is an easy fix here.  Please help.  ThanksKC

My Dell Precision M6800 has been hanging and not booting sometimes on and off for a year.  I've managed to coax it into working before by unplugging everything and taking it out of its station.   Now it won't start up no matter what I do.  REMEMBER I CAN'T GET INTO BIOS.
What I've done so far
1. removed all storage/hard drives one at a time.  Primary, secondary, optical, mSATA
2. pulled memory, tried each stick by self.
3. unplugged coin battery with power plug disconnected and laptop battery removed.  Left unplugged for more than a minute.
4. cleaned everything with compressed air.
So now what happens when I press F2:
1. I briefly get the yellow "entering setup" on the upper right of the screen
2. Then I get two lines of text:
Initializaing Intel(R) Boot Agent GE v1.5.50
PXE 2.1 Build 092 (WfM 2.0)
The same thing happens when I press F12 except the yellow text changes to "Preparing one-time boot menu"
I've tried putting a freshly made windows 10 usb install media  in a usb  slot and the same thing happens

After replacing the 04W2028 motherboard with the 04W2029 one I can't enter BIOS or boot menu using the standard ways (ThinkVantage button and F12, respectively). The BIOS itself doesn't seem to be corrupted because I can edit the settings to some extent using WMI interface and this tool: https://thinkdeploy.blogspot.com/2016/08/the-think-bios-config-tool.htmlHowever I can't get the boot order persistent this way and regardless of that I'd like to be able to change it dynamically when starting the computer.I have recorded the videos showing the problem:https://streamable.com/mwqgihttps://streamable.com/obojc Could this be due to the fact that I didn't updated the serial numbers in the new motherboard with the values from the old one (no errrors suggesting that though)?

Checked the devise driver
Checked settings
Downloaded driver for EasyCam from site for my laptop
Added an extra key to the register EnableFrameServerMode =0x0

Nothing works.

But starting Lenovo settings, it asked me to update it. Twice I've done that and it asks again to download updates.

Why? How can I go back to UEFI booting ? Also before I updated the bios I have created a backup with universal bios backup toolkit and created a file LENOVO-E5CN56WW.rom (is it possible to backflash to this one?) Thank you,Bogdan

What exactly do you mean by "stuck on the boot menu"? Do you mean this specific menu? That is supposed to only show upon pressing the button to choose the boot medium. Maybe the Windows installation is damaged. You could try to reset it by pressing the NOVO button and selecting the reset option. That gets the Windows boot menu and allows you to reset it to its factory state.

Freeeeeaakkkin irritating. BIOS mode: UEFI Secure Boot State: ON got the 7th gen X1 carbon thinkpad. The very first time I turned on the laptop it said that I could interrupt startup by pressing enter. I didn't bother but somewhere on the support pages it says that's a "one time option" Wish I would have known that. Anyways. Now what am I supposed to do to get into the flippin boot mode so I can boot from my dang USB?  Is secure boot preventing me from getting in there? I read somewhere that rapid startup or something like that can be a problem but I have no idea and I can't find any info online that works.

Hi,  I'm currently running BIOS 2TCN32WW.  The machine seems to be having some issues with recovering from sleep/standby.  Very irritiating.  I'm hoping that a BIOS update might fix it.  However, running the BIOS update package through Vantage or via the downloaded file doesn't work.  Everything runs okay to the point where it is supposed to start flashing then the screen goes blank and nothing happens.  I've left it like that overnight and no change in the morning - so time isn't the problem.  Turning it off with the power button and on again and it comes to life.   Any ideas on how to get the BIOS update to run please?  Wish Lenovo would provide a version you can run from USB...  Thanks

1. Two days ago I had a glitch - a bunch of browser windows were open and the system just sort of froze up. I ended up doing a hard restart. The PC then took a longer than normal time to boot back up.

2. That made me nervous, so yesterday I made True Image images of both partitions on the HD, that is C: (OS and apps) and D: (data).

3. This morning I decided to run a memory diagnostic disk (I had memtest86+ and Windows Diagnostics CDs on hand). I set boot priority to CD/DVD ROM using Start > All Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Toshiba Assist > Optimize > Toshiba Hardware Settings > Boot Priority

5. I unsuccessfully tried multiple times with three bootable CDs (that worked on another Toshiba laptop), including the Recovery and Apps disk that came with the laptop. Same result. I re-checked boot order a few times and the setting priority was still as I had set it.

I am extremely upset because I think I have just ruined my laptop through trying to perform a BIOS update which LENOVO provided through the website.I had recently reset my computer to factory settings via the ONE KEY RECOVERY button. After basic setup and startup, I decided to install the BIOS update Windows 7 64 Bit for my PC. I downloaded the two files provided: public and private, and moved on to first click on the public file. This opened up another application with various options which the README file provided no information on.Anyway my computer began to restart itself and perform some operations to which it is now stuck on the BOOT MENU.Each time I turn on the POWER ON button, I am directed to the BOOT MENU, and I have no option to use my computer as normal. Please help me on this.

Hi Lilyolive,I had the same problem 2 weeks ago and I freaked out too. I installed the two files in the incorrect order (I couldn't even install the other one) but I brought my computer to a computer shop and they fixed it! They said that the BIOS was configured incorrectly, so your computer is NOT ruined.I don't know what exactly the problem was but I can maybe help you to send pictures of my correctly configured BIOSP.S. sorry for my bad english
