I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I restarted my PC yesterday and it went to the Black loading screen with the white dots and stayed there. After getting into safe mode and disabling the AMD Radeon HD 8650G drivers I was able to log in again Worked with Microsoft and was given conflicting stories or the drivers were out of date, which I updated them to the same results. To the drivers are the issue and need to contact HP. Anyone have suggestions on this?

Hello All,

Recently I built a new PC Show Us Your Rig [6]

I am having a display issue with it. The graphics card is an R7 260X 2GB overclocked edition from Saphire.

Now these issues don't happen regularly but it is worrying so I'd rather deal with it sooner than later

Sometimes in game (like Arma 3 ) and I occasionally see it on desktop. parts of my monitor only a small area usually top right I can see image being distorted it is usually white/black squares last around 10 seconds or so. I have two monitors and it happens to both monitors so I'd rule out a monitor problem.

Now today I was watching Top Gear on BBC Iplayer towards the end of the show my screen just went blank (black) I could only hear sound for around 10-20 seconds and then that went of to.. I'd had to force shutdown. This also happened to me the other day when I was changing HDMI cable (I have two monitors, and sometimes I switch to TV HDMI)

Here are the idle temps for the hardware (according to CPUID)

Graphics Card = 36c (96F)
CPU = 30c (82F)
Mainboard 111C (231F)

in game GC is around (50/60c) have not seen it get higher than this
CPU can get upto 40c

I have a 650w Corsair PSU unit. Also I have 3 case fans, two front, one top, so enough cooling.

Anyone know the likely cause? (I am guessing it's GC)

PS: All drivers are up to date and room temperature can be quite high 20c (I always have heater on)

A:Screen going blank, little white - black/square dots..

could also be ram related, a dodgy stick can cause image issues.
I found that out after being 100% sure my card was duff got it RMA'd and the new one had the same issue... derp!

try the latest beta driver from AMD see if that helps. Lots of people seem to be having driver issues with the new r7 and r9 cards.

Hi all, I am back with yet another problem on my laptop computer. Same computer as my last problem, a HP Pavilion dm4-1160 with Windows 7 OS. This time, the problem that I am experiencing is very similar to this one:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/479942/

Unfortunately, the post that I have linked is no longer applicable (to me), because the person in that post decided to reinstall his/her OS.

Whenever my computer starts up, it is automatically directed to a blank, black screen save for a blinking white cursor on the top-middle of the screen. The Windows logo animation screen does not even appear, it just skips to the aforementioned black screen. I have so far waited about 12 hours for something to happen, and of course nothing happens. I am not redirected to Startup Repair or anywhere else after any reboot.

I recall that prior to this, while I was trying to organise some of my files, my computer suddenly decided to close all programs and shut down on its own for no conspicuous reason.
Once again, system restore points do not work, and I am unable to use Safe Mode or any of its variations, because the computer won't let me do so. Malwarebytes and Spybot are my antivirus programs installed, and the solution of reinstalling the OS itself is off-limits to me because I am unwilling to see the extinction of all of my personal stuff.

A:Windows 7 frozen black screen with white blinking cursor

I apologise, I just realised that I forgot to note that I am unable to provide a FRST.txt log for the computer this time because I am unable to get into Advanced Boot Options. No matter how quickly and repetitively I tap the F8 key, the black screen always manages to come first. I should also note that the white blinking cursor starts off from the top-left corner, then dashes to the top-middle after about a second passes. So consequently, I am unable to get into System Recovery Options and run any program through Command Prompt.

I still await any possible instructions. Again, I apologise if I sound impatient.

Hi.

I have a problem with my computer that started about a month ago. The computer hadn't been used for about a month.

Most of the time, probably 19 out of 20 boots, my screen displays a black screen with a white underscore in the top left hand corner before i get to the BIOS. This is before any manufacturer logos appear. It is the usual flashing underscore which has obviously frozen.

I have re-seated all hard drives, my graphics card, removed all cables from my PSU and plugged them all back in again. Problem still existed.
I then unplugged all hard drives and tried to boot and the same problem happened again which rules out HDD failure.

It's going to be a problem with the PSU, graphics card or motherboard but i don't know which.
Before i start replacing parts, does anyone have any ideas on what it could be?

Like i said, it doesn't happen with every boot. Once the computer is on, it works perfectly. Putting the computer to sleep rather than shutting down has been working for a while which is how I've still been able to use the PC.

Hello Guys, I've been a Lenovo Customer for many years and as an IT Consultant I had always advice my clients to purchase Lenovo products. Having said that, I have to tell how disappointed I am with Lenovo Technical Support. On my last trip to the states I bought a T460P that costed a lot of money and I made sure it had international warranty as I travel a lot. After not even 6 months of usage the screen started failing, It presented white spots on it. I took it to a Carry in center in Argentina 45 days ago and it has not been repaired yet nor they have an estimate on when will it be fixed. I ask: what's the point of investing a lot of money in high-end equipment from you if you are not able provide proper tech support? When ever I phone the tech support line they say they have no clue when it will be fixed. I would really appreciate if someone from Lenovo contacts me to get this fixed and please keep in mind that whenever you disappoint a customer, his distrust on you spreads and gives your competitor an opportunity to grow. Best regards,Federico M. Hello everyone, I received my P40 Yoga only two or three months ago, and I'm highly concerned about one problem I have. There's an extreme count of small white dots (d?2mm) all over the screen. They are significantly brighter that the rest of the screen, although colors of pixels behind are untouched. Also, when I'm touching/pressing near them nothing happens, although they disappear when dark/black images are covering them. Brightness of the dots seems to be constant relative to the brightness of the screen. That means if I turn screen brightness down, they become less bright too.First spots have emerged just after a week of use, but I ignored them. They were (and still are) in the left bottom part of the screen. Now practically most of the screen is covered with dots. Though, I think, there's a bit more dots on the bottom of the screen than there's on top of the screen. Also, it's very unpleasant to see more 'constellations' on a relatively expensive laptop, than I can see on the sky. At the moment, I can't contact my local service center due to certain circumstances. But do you think it is covered by warranty? Or if it isn't, can you please tell me, how can I find the model number of the 1440p IPS screen? Just as an example, there is a photo of a small area of the screen that has the problem attached to this post.

but the screen didnt close, it didnt put on sleep. (I know it was a stupid move)
so I force shut down the pc, and when start it up, more than 3 little dots appeared on the bottom left side of my screen.
it looks like its hardware problem.. how to fix this? I dont have this laptop more than 6 months and is kept in a good shape, no direct hit, or anything..

Well, it did eventually get around to shutting itself off and now it's stuck on the logging off screen. It's been like this for about ten minutes.

I purchased this refurbished computer a few months ago and noticed this problem basically since I first purchased it. Lenovo sent out a guy to replace some of the hardware (i think the video card) and I am still having the same problems. I notice that some days it happens constantly and other days it doesn't happen at all. I have a 45second video I can email to someone if that helps - I do not know how to post that here but if someone can walk me through that, I can post it here.

I did include screen shots (specifically highlighting the dots). From the time I get to the welcome screen until I get to my desktop, there are tiny pixel dots which move/turn on and off. I was told by the hardware guy that came to help me, that updating drives may help though I am not sure how to do that. Can anyone help or offer suggestions please? Thank you.

p.s. I did try to plug in a different screen and the problem still happened (that other screen has never had an issue like this when it was used for another computer)

Hello everyone,

I am trying to get a computer back to life but I am almost ripping my hair off.

When I start the computer with a normal boot it stays stuck right after the windows logo, just on the black screen with the pix-elated spinning dots.
At the very beginning the computer showed something like "watchdogs initialization phase 1" and was stuck at the 3rd phase after a while. Now it just has the black screen and spinning wheel.

As I read it was an issue related to AVG I removed it in safe mode, at least I tried many times before it would go away.
I made a clean boot by disabling services which were not from windows
Of course I have scanned the computer with windows defender, with malwarebyte, with adwcleaner, I even got depressed and checked out ccleaner. But nothing really dangerous seemed to have been found.
Furthermore I made a chkdsk which reported no issue.

Anyways, none of that helped so I decided it was time to re-install Windows (I had no backup at all - backed some files manually though). After installing it I reconfigured a bunch of things and rebooted for the first time. Same problem.

I re-installed it again and rebooted directly so it was the cleanest possible and guess what, same issue.

I am now desperate and am two steps away from throwing it out the Window

So if any of you guys have any idea whatsoever it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

A:Black screen with a circle of dots going around

That "spinner" is what Windows displays while it is doing something, and hinting that you should "wait" until it's completed some task. Force a shutdown. Disconnect the AC power.  If it is a laptop with a battery, remove the battery.Press the ON/OFF switch, to drain any "residual" power.  Reinsert the battery. Reconnect the AC power.Start it up. If you get the "spinner", just wait.  Tell us how long you waited (60 minutes?) and whether the spinner went away. Does your computer have a "disk-activity" lamp on the front? That lamp goes on whenever your computer accesses the disk-drive.Does that lamp "blink" erratically, or is it 100% "on" ?  For how long? Note that 2 or 3 consecutive "failed" boots into Windows will automatically start the "Windows Recovery Mode",and Windows will try to self-diagnose, and may offer to run "System Restore" to return your computer to its statusat a previous date/time.

I am working on a friends computer. Windows 7 seems a lot harder to troubleshoot then previous versions.

I am getting a white screen after logging in. Seems like I remember a virus/malware doing something like this. Its like its taking over the screen and you cant do anything. I ran chkdsk to make sure that was all good. I basically have command line access from the recovery menu. I saw a lot of people running FRST here so I will post an FRST log here:

Thanks,

Hi,

It seems my windows was infected with the white screen virus. I did google the issue and it brought me to this forum, specifically this http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/327250-white-screen-after-log-in/ .

I follows the steps not knowing that you have to get an accustomed fixlist, so I used the fixlist there. I hope that didn't change anything in the frst log.

Anyway, I need the proper fixlist to my problem. Here is the frst  log

Here's fun one!  I received a HP EliteBook 840 G1 from a client with the System partition completely wiped out.  It has an SSD drive.  I contacted HP for Recovery discs and reinstalled the operating system.  After 214 Windows updates on reboot, the computer loads to the windows desktop and immediately goes to a white screen that says "The computer has been frozen to further use by the owner.  The authorities have been notified."  I contacted HP they say they are seeing this problem and believe it to be a 3rd party program.  How can that be with a fresh load of Windows and only Windows updates installed???  I then thought the SSD somehow as infected and installed a standard 500GB hard drive.  Reloaded Windows and 214 updates and after reboot, same exact thing.  I did a system restore back to before the updates and was able to get into windows with Safe Mode Command Prompt.  Scanned the hard drive with ADW Cleaner, Rogue Killer, TDSS Killer, Junkware Remvoal tool, and Combofix.  None of which found anything of significance.  I rebooted and back came the white screen.  I tried to reboot into Safe Mode Command Prompt again and it goes to the Safe Mode black screen but the command prompt never comes up.

And here is where I'm stuck.  Looking for more troubleshooting ideas.  I was thinking about flashing the BIOS thinking it may be infected, but other than that, I'm at a complete loss. ... Read more

I am not sure this is the problem but the specs for the computer says it uses a TPM chip. See if there a setting in BIOS that lets you disable it.

Hello! Thanks so much for taking the time to read my thread.

I've run into a bit of trouble with my HP pavillion dm4-1065dx laptop (Windows 7 x64) in the past few days. I have a variety of symptoms that lead me to believe I could be infected with something, possibly failed ransomware. My main issue of concern is that, when I log in, I get a blank white screen with pointer only following the "welcome" screen.

Including this, here's a breakdown of some of the problems I've been facing:

- blank white screen with pointer only, after logging in / following the "welcome" screen (however, if I wait over 2 minutes or so, the desktop WILL eventually load and be usable)
- inconsistency with being able to boot windows normally (sometimes it works, but sometimes it never makes it to the login screen at all - working for now)
- inability to boot into safe mode (hangs at classpnp.sys - note: I usually CAN boot into safe mode with command prompt)
- general slowness, especially upon startup
- "could not reconnect all network drives" bubble pops up often

As for tests I've run and things I've tried thus far:

- malwarebytes (most notable discoveries were hijack.startmenu, conduit)
- hitmanpro (just chrome tracking cookies)
- tdsskiller (OK)
- roguekiller (various PUM HJ DESKs found in registry)
- adwcleaner (didn't help)
- farbar recovery scan tool (I've only run it in recovery mode, and while I did get the log, it caused computer t... Read more

Hello!I recently ordered a new motherboard for my "Inspiron 7720 Special Edition" laptop because the old one failed. The laptop is out of warranty but I was told since I purchased the new motherboard that the new part (motherboard) has 2 years warranty. In the new motherboard the 1st graphics card (Intel HD4000) is causing display problems whereas the secondary one (Nvidia GT650M) is working flawlessly.I have included a screenshot of how the screen looks.I have tried the latest and older drivers and have also found out that there's a Kernel memory leak (via PoolMon).I am using W10 64bit and have the latest BIOS installed. The problem initiates when W10 is on the log on screen, just after the boot and loading.Screenshot of the problem:
I would like to thank you in advance!

Hello all,  I have Lenovo X1 carbon 5th generation, model 20HR. Recently I noticed that when my screen displays a bright background (like a word document), if I look at it from an angel (I would say 30 degrees or more), I see a lot of small black dots scattered across the screen (since there are a lot of them they look like big stains). The strange thing is that I didn?t notice this phenomenon during the first few months of using the laptop. Has any of you noticed anything similar with his X1 laptop?Should I be worried, or this is just the technology Lenovo uses? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys,

I know there's many threads on this subject but none seem to answer it for me.

System:

i7 950 X58A-UD3R Rev 2.0 16gb Ram GTX760. Pretty sure it's a Samsung 250gb SSD.

So I upgraded W7 to W10 via iso. Install made it all the way.

On reboot it's now suck on the black background, windows logo and spinning dots.

I've removed all wireless devices.

If you need any further info please let me know.

Any help would be appreciated

I would give it 15-30 minutes and then do a Hard Reset. Hold DOWN Power switch until the computer shuts down (probably about 6-8 seconds). Then, hit the Power switch to turn it back on.
