I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bits (haz linux installed as well )
Device: HP Dv7-4080us (out of warranty )

I cannot recall the first time it started but it keeps happening here and then, everyday, with full load or in idle state and happens most of the time on Windows, happened just once when I was on my linux install with the latest kernel from Chakra repos, which I cannot say for sure the version.

I am counting on you guys to make my life happy again

I will provide any information you need, just help me. Help me please!

I have that feeling that it is VGA related because most of the reboots happens when I am watching videos in flash (like youtube); even if the video is paused and I am working on something else.

I will provide my system profile in both RAR and ZIP (much bigger). Any help will be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys.

My notebook in reboot loop from windows update. I have followed the instructions here

When I'm logged in to the computer at one point it reboots and if I don't login it reboots every 5 minutes. If logged in the reboot reminder pops up where I can postpone the reboot. But if I walk away it does reboot on its own at one point (not sure how long). If I get up in the morning it is in a reboot loop.

I have no errors on the Windows Update screen

Attached are the CBS log collections.

I have already tried the following

I have installed Windows 10, a clean copy of windows installation has been done with full format of c drive. So, after a successfull installation of win10 in my HP Pavilion dv6-7024tx, I ran windows updates to make sure it gets all driver for its hardware automatically, it did though and was absoultely fine expect one audio problem relating to micro (not working), I couldn't notice that time. I also installed HP support assistance for further assistance to make sure everything work just okay. Things to describe here, everything works absolutely fine without the built in Micro issue for Audio device. It is litterally not working to input audio anymore here. My stepson has an HP Pavilion dv1000 notebook. The power supply gets extremely hot and seems to be melting the tip to the plug where it connects to the notebook. Does this seem to be a problem with the notebook or only with the power supply. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

A:HP Pavilion notebook

wow that is pretty hot... does it always run that hot, or does it only run that hot when he's gaming, or watching a movie? could just be a demanding laptop, but then again you could take it to a PC specialist (comp usa or local computer shop) and get the powersupply checked out. dang if it's melting the tip thats pretty hot... My dad's apple powerbook gets up to 75 degrees celcius when he's just surfing the web and stuff, so hot you have to take it off your legs if you don't want to burn yourself. so get it checked out, might just be a demanding laptop.

G'day peeps and creeps, i have the pavilion dv6 with 1 terabyte hd and bluray disc player, a few months ago i foolishly upgraded from windows 7 to windows crap so a week ago i reinstalled to windows 7 and that went well, except i was having really bad heating issues so i took it apart and cleanded the fan and reapplied new thermal paste and that went well except for one thing, i now get an error message about an unknown usb device so i went into the device system list and sure enough it says usb unkown device, so i tried all the usb port and they worked fine and the usb content came up and i could access and add or delete at will in all 4 of them so i checked the drivers for them and they are up to date aswell so i am at a loss right now about that but i just now discvered a new problem, my disc drive wont acknowlege blurays, i watched a bluray the other day and that was fine then last night i watched a standard dvd and that was fine but when i got home this afternoon i went to watch a bluray and all it did was make a bunch of noise and wouldnt do jack so i took it out and tried again, same thing so i put in a dvd and that worked perfectly like normal so i took that out and tried the bluray disc again and just more noise and nothing else, i really like this puter so i am hoping that its not stuffed too bad but i am at a loss about these two issues, especially the bluray one so any help would be greatly appreciated and sorely needed.please help.

Hi, It is great to upgrade system to Windows 10, but in the same time, series of issues occur, like the USB device issue. After upgrading the system to Windows 10, you find that your USB device cannot connect to your PC. You may need to plug your external devices like MP3, pen drive, printer, etc. to your computer through the USB ports. So it is very inconvenient that the USB ports don?t work properly. Solutions below may help you fix the USB port issue. Since your USB device works properly before you upgrade the system, the problem most probably is not caused by the USB device. But you can also plug the USB device to another computer. If it unfortunately doesn?t work, you can consider replacing the device. Following are the solutions to figure out the problem. Solution 1: Check if the problem is caused by power supply issue 1. Unplug the power supply and charger plug from your PC.2. Restart your PC. Connect your USB device to the PC again. Then you can plug the power supply.Solution 2:The Power Management would also be the cause of the USB problems. Windows is set to shut down your USB controller to save power by default, sometimes it won?t be able to power it back up. So try following steps to prevent Windows from ?managing? power to your USB controller or the devices.1. Open Device Manager.2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers branch.3. Double-click the USB Root Hub device, and click the Power Management tab. (if there?... Read more

product number would be a good thing to send, but not the serial number.  All dv6s use a 2.5 inch wide 7 or 9.5 mm thick drive. Hi, I have recently reïnstalled Windows10 on my notebook, but (almost) every time I turn it off (or to sleep mode or hibernate mode) the fan and power light stay on. The only way to properly shut the machine down is by pressing the power button for a few seconds. I wonder if this is something in the OS or the BIOS settings, and if it is because of the BIOS settings, is updating the BIOS really the only way to fix this? Thanks in advance, Emma

A:HP Pavilion 13-b020nd Notebook PC

HI. Please see that the bios has the default values of the bios:1. F 10 at system startup2. Go to the boot menu ... F9 to restore the default settings3 Save and Exit. Or do this if the above does not solve it: Control Panel > Device Manager > scroll down to System Devices > scroll down to and right click Intel(R) Management Engine Interface > Properties > click tab Power Management > you should see an option that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Make sure this option is NOT checked and if it is, un-check it and click OK.And while your at it try and update the drivers for Intel(R) Management Engine Interface, Go to:Control Panel > Device Manager > scroll down to System Devices > scroll down to and rightclick Intel(R) Management Engine Interface > Update driver software > Search Automatically for updated driver software.  Driver for Intel's Management Engine Interface (MEI)http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72314.exe Regards.

A:HP Pavilion Notebook Not Booting

Nice machine and configuration.
I would first try removing two memory modules, and attempting a boot with the third.. then if that doesn't work, change modules until you have tried all three.
It is difficult to trouble-shoot a machine like that... but we are seeing a LOT of ealy failures in the large laptops hard drives from 250 GB to 500 GB, so suspect that your hard drive might be bad. A good test would be to try any other known good hard drive from 80 GB on up to 500 GB... can you borrow one, then try to format and install it.
If still dead when you change memory and hard drive, it is time to get it back to HP for warranty work.
Anything you do that is not memory and not a hard drive will void your warranty.

(You may delete the post, if it is not relevent here) I could not find my question answered anywhere and I could not find any place where i can contact (except email) for the three issues I have started seeing on my HP Pavilion G6. 1- When machine is started (while BIOS checks and when Windows' logo is spinning) screen started to display a line with random colors. Seems like pixels are broken/dead. It becomes fine when desktop is loaded. 2- Battery does not hold charge for more than 25 minutes and it has started to go down faster now.3- Power connector on laptop seems to be lose, i have to push it in to get the charging going.  If you can forward me to the right place where to contact HP, it will be appreciated.

You are out of warranty now so this is where HP will send you. We are volunteer fellow end users just trying to help but with no access to the HP warranty system.  1.  If the screen is OK once Windows boots I would not worry about it.  2. The battery is what, now 4 or 5 years old? It has seen its better days and needs replacement. Let us know where you live (country) and we can point you to a place to buy one.  3. This one is potentially a bigger problem. However, as long as the charger runs the laptop OK with no battery installed you are likely OK. They do tend to loosen up with age. If the charger will not actually power the notebook, then it is a problem with the charger port module which is not too expensive to replace, or the motherboard, which is.  For out of warranty repairs in the U.S. and Canada HP is not a viable option. Their charges are very high as they need to be since HP is not really in the business of repairing out of warranty computers. You are better off with a local repair shop or if you are willing to try, even self-help. That is where this Forum is at its best, when we can help end users with out of warranty but still useable products fix them and keep using them for a reasonable investment.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

A:What is Max Ram fo HP Pavilion 17-e184ca Notebook PC

Hi: The information in the service manual is stating what the maximum memory you can install is on a 64 bit operating system. It reads...not supported for use on computer models equipped with a 32 bit OS That is because a 32 bit operating system can only address a maximum of 4 GB of memory. I have a PC with 32 GB of memory on it and I had to run XP for a short while and it only would use 4 GB of memory. The PC worked fine with 32 GB of memory in it on a 32 bit operating system. It was just a complete waste of 28 GB of memory.

Can you log in if you start up in safe mode? (Press F8 on Windows boot-up, and choose Safe Mode).
Did you do something specific recently, like install something or change system settings?

I'm having a Pavilion  HP DM4 i5 ,  with 6 GB RAM installed. Is it possible to upgrade the RAM to 16 GB - which RAM-Modules do I need then? On the official documents the maximum RAM is 8 GB, but at the time, the documents were made, no 8GB-Modules were available. Does the BIOS support 8GB Modules? The notebook has two slots, so my hope is, if I replace the built in 2x4GB with 2x8GB, I'll have 16 GB of RAM. For what I need this? Running different virtual machines at one time for working. :-) Thanks for your help!

Windows 10 upgrade very often messes up f11, recovery partition, etc. Once done only way to get back to Factory setup is booting from Recovery Media-either USB or DVD. Did you make your Recovery Media before upgrading?

The screen of my laptop got damaged along with some ports, when it accidentally fell a few years ago.  I have beenusing it with an external monitor since, and have used it how you would use a desktop, and so far it has been working great, until about a month ago, where it has issues at start up.  The selection to repair is only shown on the original laptop screen, where I can manage sometimes to see it while moving it back and forth, but this is a pain, so I have decide it toget a computer, and put the hardrive of this laptop in a hardrive case to use it as an external drive, since I have on itMicrosoft office, music, photos, and other files that I still use. What size of case do I need?  I see a 2.5 inch Hard Drive IDE HDD external enclosure on sale.  Will this fit?  This is a separate question, but I really want to replace it with another Windows 7 computer, where to get nowdays?  I use Windows 10 at work, and is awful. Thank you in advance.

Hi,We need this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-3-0-2-5-inch-SATA-External-Hard-Drive-Mobile-Disk-HD-Enclosure-Case-Box-...?I don't think you can run MS Office from external drive. You need to reinstall it in your computer with retail Office product key put in when asked.Microsoft doesn't allow you to transfer it's OEM keys to another machine.Your last question: I don't think manufacturers are anymore releasing Windows 7 consumer notebooks from factory anymore. You could buy retail Windows 7 keys from online sellers (if they are selling) and then download install Windows 7 from MS server.RegardsVisruth

Hello there...

I'm needing help diagnosing a non-working HP Pavilion ZE1000
I received it from a friend after it failed. None of the laptop leds would turn on, and there were no POST beeps of any kind. The HDD and CD unit would turn -the floppy won't, but it might be a BIOS setting-, but the screen won't show anything at all.

After double-checking the obvious (LCD disabled, brightness setting, power supply output, etc.) I checked internet and found that the DC jack is a common problem with these laptops. Sure enough, on this one it was a little loose, but even after fixing it all the symptoms stay the same. I have tried re-setting all the connectors and looking for any obvious damage on the mobo (there's none).

The weird thing is that if I leave the laptop "on" (Fan & HDD turning), after a while the CPU and the VIA chipset get warm. Should I just assume that the BIOS is fried, or are these symptoms of a defunct mobo?

Is there any guru around that has dealt with this problem before?

Thanks for your help,

JR

A:Help diagnosing HP Pavilion notebook

Can you try an external monitor? Disconnecting all extra hardware (drives) and replacing the memory are some things to try.

Nothing weird about CPU and chipset getting warm - BIOS is exactly that (Basic) and does not bother with power savings and such.

Hi All:
A few weeks ago I started to download DVDShrink from what looked like a perfectly legitimate company site. After I clicked to download the program it began to install itself. At the same time all kinds of alarms went off - Comodo, Malwarebytes, etc. - and I quickly shut down.
After booting up I ran a quick Mbam scan and it found 32 infected files which I deleted. I then ran a full Mbam scan and it found a bunch more. Later I also ran full Mbam and Avast scans but this time around neither came up with anything. I also used ERUNT to replace the Registry with a clean copy made earlier.
For a few days everything ran OK but then Firefox began to freeze up whenever I brought up a page with a Youtube video on it. Then other things started to freeze - Task Manager, etc. - and now it's reached the stage that the computer won't boot up properly at all. Almost everything is frozen. The computer won't even start in Safe Mode. At best it just brings up my mouse pointer (which is working) and my desktop wallpaper but nothing more.
Different Windows messages have appeared at times one of which said something to the effect that Windows was stopping to prevent further damage. There is a separate RESTORE section on the drive for restoring the computer to factory settings but I can't access it. Since I can't get into the computer to do anything at all I'm wondering if there's any way of being able to get the com... Read more

Welcome
You dmps are showing code 116, and that can be a problem as small as a driver, but can be hardware, such as memory or worse
atikmpag.sys
You can update the driver.
If it is anything else it is most likely hardware related. Since it is new, you may want to exercise the Warranty. I know from past experience, too many changes will void the warranty.
