I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Stream notebook 13 touch screen running Windows 8.1; serial # 5CD51G3B, model 13-C002DX. A few days ago the computer shutdown and tried to restart, on the startup window it displayed that it had to update and then shutdown.  From that point it would not start when pushing the power button, I let it charge overnight in case the battery was low but still no startup. I researched issues on HP and read about bad batteries, I opened the notebook up and saw that the battery was leaking. I replaced the battery from another Stream 13 I have and it still wouldn't start but showed a white LED blinking 3 times with the solid red power light when the power adapter is plugged in. I researched customer support and came accros http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Stream-13-Notebook-PC/7372147/model/7499092/document/c0173267...The LED blinks 3 times and listed under BIOS flashing light error codes for computers released between 2011 and January 2015 the chart says its a memory error and I have to reseat the memory module. This system has onboard memory so I cant reseat them. So my question is how do I fix this???

This one has dogged me relentlessly.

HP Pavilion G6 notebook with Windows 8. System works flawlessly on the software side, the hardware, however-

The notebook recognizes the adapter about 60% of the time. If the battery is fully charged the adapter will usually be recognized, but if the battery is low it seems not to. Sometimes if I leave the adapter plugged in for an extended period of time (like overnight) and come back the power jack light will be on and working.

If I plug in the adapter and remove the battery it will switch over seamlessly, but if I replace the battery it won't recognize it.

Trying to boot without the battery works about 40% of the time. Generally I get 3 blinks of the light which suggests a RAM issue according to HP's website. But I've replaced the RAM several times to no effect.

I've swapped chargers to no effect.

I've replaced the jack in the notebook to no effect.

I'm considering a battery replacement, but it charges fine and lasts about three hours (so far) WHEN the charger is recognized.

Am I missing something?

Hi, first time using the forum, sorry if my question isn't too clear, but i'll try my best to be.Not very recently, going on about 3 months now, my HP Laptop's (Product code VF836AV) AC Adapter died, and has been recently a total fire hazard, so I tossed it. For a while now, i've been searching for a proper replacement, using sites such as Amazon, and HP in particular, but to absolutely no avail (bought 3, 2 from Amazon, cables compatible with my Laptop in particular, one for $80 from HP which all 3 aren't compatible whatsoever.) I'm honestly not sure, but I refuse to spend any more money on incompatible AC Adapters. I've ruled this out, on either being a DC Jack(internal laptop power jack) issue, or an issue with the battery/adapter itself. In conclusion, I NEED to find an AC Adapter, or Battery if that's the case, for my laptop. Please help! Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!Product Name: HP Pavilion Dv8t-1100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC

My G72B27Cl notebook has a problem to recharge the battery. At beginning, I thought it was the battery issue - too old to be recharged. After installed a new battery, the power run off fast from the battery and there was no sign to indicate the battery being recharged as usually. When the battery was detached and the computer totally dead even with the power unit on. Can this issue be fixed or I have to give up the comptor? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello, I'm here to ask a solution to my problem.Details: my pc has just a few weeks of life and this week I started getting fixed BSOD on ac plugin or when I start the pc with it yet plugged in. It just freezes, go to BSOD with 3 different codes randomly choosen, and I can't do nothing more than just wait for the shutdown and put it in charge while switched off.I wish I could solve this cause I'm getting really annoyed, expecially because it's a 1.3k? notebook, it shouldn't have these problems.  For more information about the problem just ask, I'll provide everything in order to solve it.

I have two issues. The first is that my battery stopped charging right after by warranty exprired causing me to be unable to use my laptop unless it is plugged in. The second is that the left hinge is broken, causing my bottom case to come apart. This has also caused an issue with my fan (from a broken piece interfearing?) which causes my laptop to overheat.  This is unacceptable. This laptop was expensive and I depend on it daily to run my business.

I have read quite a few threads regarding Lenovo laptops requiring the battery to be disconnect to get the unit to turn on once it goes to sleep or is manually shut off.  I started having this issue on my 3 year old t450s about 3 months ago.  I disconnected the internal battery so that starting it up only involves removing the external battery. Is there a solution to this issue?  Of course I'd like to resolve it on this laptop but I'm even more concerned about purchasing an new t model laptop.  Love the laptop but am frustrated by this issue. Mark

My wife has a two-year-old Samsung notebook. Recently when she unplugged it the machine cut off, even though the battery said 79% charged (it wouldn't charge any further). I figured that the battery was bad so I bought another one from Amazon.

This one charges to 100% percent and does exactly the same thing. I'm perplexed but think there's something going on with the motherboard that won't let it use battery juice, even if Windows 8.1 says it's 100% charged.

I've tried the hold the power button down for 1 min with the battery out trick to no avail.

Any ideas? I'm stumped and think I might need to get her another notebook.

Thanks, Robert

Hi!

I have lenovo ideapad g585gc 59-356202 e1-1200, dvdrw, 4gb, 500gb, radeon hd 7310m, 15.6" led, ....
Almost 2 years old.
Yesterday it didn't want to turn on, and then I took out the battery and try without it and then turned on and everything is ok.

So,
1. with battery (with or without ac power) won't turn on
2. without battery (of course, with ac power) turn on

The problem is evidently in the battery. I want to buy a new one, but how can I be sure that the battery is really dead?

A:Lenovo won't turn on with battery, without battery turn on!

There are no good practical ways the average owner can test the battery. You have to go on the evidence.

Hi guys. I have a T470 and after the latest Windows update I encountered a battery naming issue. Before the update batteries had proper order and were named accordingly: battery 1, battery 2, no surprises here. But after the update I noticed the order has changed to battery 0, battery 1 (attached pic below) Yeah yeah, I understand arrays start at zero but what is that? I was just wondering is it just me or you guys have the same situation going on with your batteries? Is there a way to change the order back to "normal"? .

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

Hey there,
I've been using my upgraded Inpiron 17R SE happily for a couple of years by now. I've even gone as far as buying an 128GB SSD to futureproof it. This is the only drive - besides the DVD drive - currently present in the laptop. However I've had an issue for quite a while:
Whenever I try to boot the Laptop only using the Battery (even fully charged) it Posts then loads Windows and turns of just before the Login-Screen (I can't see it). When I proceed to turn it back on, it Posts then beeps and says that there is a Real Time Clock Error and gives me the option to proceed booting or to enter Setup.
This however doesn't occur when using the Power-Brick. Moreover it isn't always the case. Sometimes the Laptop boots and works fine just using the battery, but then upon opening a Programm (while under battery-power) it shuts of and gives the same error message again. If it decides to work the battery still lasts for 2-2.5 hours.
I'm really confused to what the problem is. It could be a power delivery problem, but it's still the original battery and laptop with only the HDD changed to a SSD.
I'm aware of it being a rather old machine, but selling it is my only hope for getting a new laptop for college, but I can't sell it in this state.
I'm at a lost and really really sad because of this issue. I'm sorry for any typos or grammar mistakes, I'm a non native english speaker.

In cooperation with various government regulatory agencies, HP has announced an expansion of its June 2016 worldwide voluntary safety recall and replacement program for certain notebook batteries. Additional batteries are affected. The affected batteries have the potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to customers.

Because affected batteries pose a fire and burn hazard, it is essential to recheck your battery even if you did so previously and were told that you were not affected. Note: if you have already received a replacement battery, you are not affected by this expansion.

To recheck your battery, and order a replacement if eligible, go to the HP Battery Recall website at: http://www.HP.com/go/batteryprogram2016

My G50-70 laptop (Machine type-model 59425450) won't turn on anymore. I last used it two days ago and my laptop worked perfectly fine, no updates or problems with shutting down the laptop. When I try to turn on the laptop without the charger plugged in, the power and charging dots both give a white light. When I plug the charger in, the power dot starts blinking (both lights are still white).I've tried the following steps that I saw in another thread: Unplug the ac adapter , remove the battery and just press the power button down for 15 seconds twice (power draining to remove internal statics and refresh power ).Place the battery in and plug the ac adapter and turn on. See if using the Novo key would allow you to turn on the pc . Neither of these things changed anything. Hopefully I've provided enough information for you to help me with my problem.

Hi Ricathan ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Great that you tried power draining the pc.
To continue further would require a tech handling and may void the warranty .
Best if you check your warranty and call in support  for the repair .

How was it if your try to connect it to any external monitors?
Any sounds heard like a Windows Welcome tune ?
If you press the caps and number lock on / off , would it show any led lights going on/off too ?

Update us how things would go .

Nothing pops up on the screen, no HP logo, nothing. it stays black. I've tried taking the battery out, I've tried leaving it for a few hours to see if it's from over heating but it's not. I've googled to see if there's any solutions, and I've tried them all but nothing has worked.

I am having the issue that when I press the power button on my HP G56, the AC light blinks 3 times in amber color.  I verified the memories by swaping them one at a time and tested with other brand new memories and still has the same problem.  I tried by removing the battey and turn it on only with the AC power cord but still get the same results. I left the battery removed and without the AC power cord and pressed the power button for as long as 30 seconds to do a pseudo-clear CMOS and still I get the same results when I try to power it on.   Does anyone knows what those "3 amber blinks" means?  I couldn't find anything in HP website that points to error codes of that kind.  I will appreciate any enlightment.  Thanks in advance.

I purchased this notebook for my daughter last June for graduation.  It had problems once in a while with randomly turning off and not wanting to come back on.  We thought maybe it had gotten too hot or something.  If she left it for a while and then came back it would restart and work fine.  This time it turned off and we have been trying for two weeks to get it back on.  At first when you pushed the power button the red lights would blink.  Now nothing happens.  We have tried leaving it plugged in and still nothing.  She is a photographer and her notebook contains photos that we would really like to get back some how.  Are there any fixes for this problem?

Notebook will not turn on.  No power light. No beeps.      I was using the notebook the night before with no problems.  The battery had about 50% charge when I turned it off and plugged in the charging adaptor.   The following morning the laptop would not turn on.     We have tried removing and reinstalling the battery will no change.  We have tried using the power addaptor without the battery installed -the LED power indicator did not light or blink.     This notebook was purchased new in August of 2015 and has been running fine without problems until this event.    We believe it could be the power adaptor has failed but we cannot explain why how the battery lost its remaining charge of 50%.       We read a post from another user with a similar problem and that the computer started working again after a different power adaptor was used  --then the original adaptor and battery worked fine again.   So,  is there a known problem with this notebook?

Yesterday I cleaned my notebook by opening it up (as much as I could; there were some screws that I just couldn't reach) and using compressed air to clean out the dust. Apparently I did something wrong, because now it won't turn on at all! When I press the power button, I see the light come on, then I hear the HD whirring, then in about 1-2 seconds, the whirring stops, then the light goes off. What could I have done while cleaning it and how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance... I would have come back to thank you guys yesterday, but I screwed up my computer and couldn't get online!

Try taking out one of the memory sticks (I assume you have two installed) and then swap in the one you took out and take out the other one. Also, you might try resetting the bios--check your manual for how to do that.

Also--I am assuming its plugged in or you've got battery power because obviously if the battery is very low, it may not power up.

Does a notebook battery lose charge even when the machine is turned off?
For example, it was at 100% when I turned it off and removed the AC adapter.
Less than 24 hours later, I turn it on, and the battery indicator says 65%.
I've only had the laptop for a week, and this is the second time the charge has significantly decreased while off. The first time, the battery was completely dead after being fully charged, removed, and not used for 2 days.
Another time, I charged to full and rebooted. The battery showed 95% upon restart. I can't believe it would use that amount to power up.
Is my battery a dud?

And would you recommend a extended warranty. The salesman told me it covers the battery, lcd monitor.

A:notebook battery

normally from my experience, the way the laptop will work is that it always uses the battery and when you plug in the adapter this just charges your battery as you use it!
So the laptop wont work without the battery in!

This in the long run will decrease the battery but no more so than it would in normal running situation.

Depending on what you plan on using the laptop for and ofcourse how much the laptop costs and how much the extra warrenty is!

If you need anymore help give us a shout

Thanks for reading this. i have never posted anything in my life but i am stumped and need some help!
I got a dell inspiron 2200 and one day i was running it while it was pluged in and i unpluged it and the laptop just "Bloop" shut off......i tried turning it back on but nothing. just as if i had no battery in it at all. when i pluged it back in it fired up like normal i checked the battery meter and it said 97% full then charged up to 100% full but still it wont run off the battery. as soon as i unplug it it shuts right off.

Someone told me to run the battery calibration but my bios doesnt have an option for it. at least i cant find it. i know it has it somewere because when i first bought this laptop the screen was broke and when i bought a new one for it and booted it up it said i had to run the battery calibration befor it could start "not sure why" but i did...watched it drain and charge. so i know it's in here somewere. do you think this would even help?

Also i think i updated the bios so it might have had an older bios witch might have had the battery calibration and the new one i put on doesnt. It has verison A07 now. i tried "downgrading" to A05 and A06 but it doesnt let me, Says i have a newer verison and cannot install an older verison.

Stinks. this problem kinda takes the "Mobil" feature out of a laptop. Any help would be Awesome!

A:Laptop battery issue ??battery calibration??

i'm afraid the battery calibration program is only used to initialize new Li-Ion batteries which need to be prepped with an initial charge-discharge cycle.

It sounds to me like you have a battery composed of 32 (probably AA sized) cells.
One of those cells has died and hence you see only 97% charge. Unfortunately losing a single cell prevents current from entering or leaving the battery so your battery will not discharge correctly therefore shutoff without discharge.

I think you need a new battery. Although it may be possible to replace the single bad cell, other cells may be degraded also - if one cell failed, why not others? unit could have been exposed to heat etc.

Although I was an engineer for Gould, I am not a battery expert!

good luck!
Simon

I pressed the power button and nothing happened. I unplugged it and plugged it again and nothing. It has been working fine for the 3+ years that I've had it. Please help

Hi, it seems that I keep having problems with my HP envy m6 notebook PC (windows 8). I have had this computer for 2 years and it keeps breaking down on me! I was using it this morning around 9:30 AM, and it was running fine, and it was charged. I turned the computer off, then headed to my class. Once I got out of class I went to turn on my computer and it would not turn on! I tried taking out my battery and putting it back in and turning it on, taking the battery out completely and turn it on with the charger hooked up, I even took out the battery, unplugged it and pressed the power button for a minute then put the battery and charger back in and tried turning it on and still nothing! This is very frusterating as I am a college student and I need this laptop for classes and I can't afford to have my computer break down on me anymore! Will someone please help me?! P.S. My led light when my charger was plugged in was not turning on either, and the power adaptor was not warm when plugged in, I don't know if this is one of the reasons why my computer will not turn on.

So I used my laptop on Friday, and I went to turn it on today and it wouldn't come on. I charged it last night so I could use it for class today and it wouldn't turn on. I took the battery out for 5-7 minutes, put it back in and tried to turn it on. Nothing happened . I plugged it up to the charger and let it charge and tried, nothing. I just got this laptop for Christmas and haven't had any other problems with it! I need help because I have class work due tonight! Thanks in advance!

Hi    Firstly remove all sources of power ( Adaptor & battery )  next hold down the power button ( do not release ) for 30 seconds .  Next connect the AC adaptor only and see if your machine will boot up .                Let me know your findings                                           Checkurtech

Help, please! I have had my notebook since Christmas and hadn't had any issues until today. I watched Netflix last night and closed the top, as I usually do, before bed, and when I woke up it wouldn't turn on. I tried to leave it plugged in to the charger and trying a couple of hours later, but no luck. There hasn't been any damage, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Any help is much appreciated!!

I have a HP stream 11 and it turns on but it won't leave the start up screen. It turns on and the logo pops up then it shuts off and does it again. I tried to factory reset it and it has failed twice. I tried everything else and nothing is working. I really don't have the money to pay for an expensive repair and I need this laptop for school and work.

Hi,  Are you able to get past BIOS/UEFI screen? After that to Windows setup screen? Please test your hard drive and memory (extensive testing) by tapping F2 key as soon as you power on laptop from System Diagnostics. Let it finish. If all tests passed proceed. It is a very economical notebook. Therefore manufacturer has cut down many standards like hard drive storage capacity, RAM, processor to name few. This makes Windows installation tough especially Recovery process as it uses more resources.I would suggest you to clean install Windows using Microsoft windows media creation tool by creating bootable installation USB.Get the exact version of Windows that came pre installed with this notebook -->Windows 8/8.1: Option 1https://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-windows-8-1-iso-download-create.htmlWindows 10: Option 1https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-usb-flash-drive-create-install-windows-10-a.htmlDownload, save additional drivers from your HP support page.RegardsVisruth

My laptop was working perfect last night. I opened it this morning and the screen was black and the power button was flashing. Thinking it was dead I plugged it in and the power button turned off. Now the laptop won't turn on at all.The light shows its charging orange when plugged in. When I take the battery out the charging light turns white. I've tried the hard reset, removing the battery, everything the forums have said. The laptop is only 5 months old, but there are no HP sellers near by to help correct the issue.
