Probook 6570b Screen Upgrade

Q: Probook 6570b Screen Upgrade

Okay, I have the 6570b which has the 1366 x 768 screen. I read here (yes here), that there were 3 screens available, the 1366 x 768, the 1600 x 900 and the 1920 x 1080, and that they could be physically installed into my laptop without issues. So, I went ahead and bought the 1920 x 1080 screen (Part No. 690405-001). I do a lot of PC/Laptop/iPhone repairs, so this was not a big task for me. I replaced the screen no problem, powered up the laptop, and nothing. The screen itself lit up, so I knew it was getting power. I read somewhere else that maybe I needed the HD screen cable (Part No. 646969-001); so I went ahead and bought that too. I've just finished installing the cable, and reassembled the laptop, only to be presented with the same issue. Black sceen, but backlit. Any ideas? EDIT - Appears I bought the exact same cable (got the part number from another forum). I have now ordered the Part Number MPN 50.4RY03.001. Let's see if that one works when it arrives.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently picked up a Probook 6570b.  So far I have upgraded it with a 240gb SSD and have installed a 1TB HDD in the optical bay. The system board has non-upgradeable Intel HD 4000 graphics but I upgraded to 8GB RAM to help with this. The last possible upgrade would be the CPU.I have seen plenty of threads on this laptop that have a cut-and-paste list of processor options from the HP website so I know what the manufacturer recommends. The problem is, I want to know what others have tried and what their results were. I have seen similar HP laptops that went from 35w to 45w processors and even i5 dual core to i7 quad core processors but I've never seen anyone post results of attempts to upgrade the 6570b in a similar way. The reason I am looking to upgrade above the recommended CPU performance is because the best processor recommended for this machine is the i7-3540M which is only dual core. This machine is ivy bridge with QM77 chipset and socket G2, all of which will support quad core. I was looking at the low power i7 QM chips to keep the CPU wattage the same but there are only two that will work and they go for over $200 on eBay. If I am able to run a 45w quad core, I'll get better performance at about half the price. So, has anyone ever tried something like a 3630QM or ideally, a 3840QM chip in one of these Probooks? If so, how were the results? If no, is there an online community that may be better suited to assist with this project? So here is a little adde... Read more

Hi, I'm quite new around here, gonna try to help the first one out haha.. Have you tried updating the BIOS and latest videocard drivers? Also install the latest version of adobe flash might help? Other thing that you may try is to disassemble the laptop and take off the cooling unit (heatsink)and remove the thermal grease from it and replace it with new one (my experience is that White thermal grease works the best) Be careful not to use too much of it.. a simple shot may do. Be sure to flatten is with some kind of plastic piece or something.. Hoping to help you out!

Hi

Are you using any of the preboot security tools? Like encryption, face recognition, fingerprint, etc. I think it is called HP ProtectTools.

You may need to disable those.

In addition, you may need to disable secureboot if that is turned on (I would expect it on that computer).

I just bought a HP ProBook 6570b laptop 2nd hand from a local college who was moving to a new campus and upgrading to new computers/laptops. Anyway, I bought this computer and it was reset to factory settings. It had Windows 7 and when I first turned it on it had a free upgrade to Windows 10 which I did upgrade to...though now I've seen a couple places people saying Windows 10 is not good? The main point I guess is that I don't know a lot about the functions and capabilities of the computer and what all it comes with. I have several questions but I have 3 questions to start with. 1. I tried putting icons on the desktop but have noticed that the touchpad allows you to zoom in and out much like on your phone. When I do this (usually by accident) all of the icons become huge and then when I zoom back out, they are all in different places. Is there a way to turn off this zoom function? While it may be handy for certain things, overall I've found it to be very hindering to basic use of the laptop.  2. I've noticed that the screen orientation will often turn. These both seem to be functions that are compatible for a phone or tablet. However, again it becomes annoying when I'm just trying to use it as a laptop. Is there a way to disable this function ? I know it has a "Tablet Mode" which I would possibly be interested in using sometimes, which brings me to my next question... 3. Does this computer come with touchscreen capabilities? It has seems to have all the o... Read more

Hi: I believe you need to install the HP Client Security Manager software in order to enroll and login with your fingerprint. HP Client Security Manager provides enhanced Windows login and website single-sign-on capabilities. Security Manager is also the host for HP Client Security plugins, and therefore should be installed before other Client Security modules. Hi Everyone,

I have tried to upgrade two HP ProBook 6570b laptops to Windows 10 (from Windows 7).

Whilst in each instance the upgrade went smoothly, and I only needed to upgrade a couple of drivers manually, the performance of Windows 10 is unacceptable.

Both laptops feature an i5 processor, 4 Gigs of RAM, and Intel HD graphics.

Has anybody with this laptop model managed to get Windows 10 running smoothly, and if so how did you do it? Maybe I just need to throw more RAM at the situation...

Any thoughts or suggestions are most welcome.

Kind Regards,

Davo

Yes and No.No as the comupter and components are designed to best suite with eachother. So manufacturers will not support using incompatible parts though custamization is accepted.Yes as there are technicians who can mix and match the components but the combination needs regular maintenance and watch. I would not recommand doing this as it may end up in failutes and issues.Workaround would be to buy a HD monitor(ecternal) and connect it. There are n number of options in HD monitor to choose from.

Hi,I'm looking to upgraed my good old notebook and was wondering about all the supported CPUs for it. I know for sure that these are supported:   i3-4000M i3-4100M i5-4200M (my current one) i7-4702MQ 2550M and 3550M The thing is, I found this one to be really effective cost/performace wise: i5-4310M but I can't figure out whether my computer would support it. On the site hwbot.org it states that both the i5-4200M and i5-4310M share the Intel HM87 chipset and the g3 cpu socket and the list of supported motherboards for both were identical.  What confused me though, is when I found out my motherboard version through cmd.exe, it said Hewlett-Packard 1942 which was nowhere on the hwbot lists. Sorry if I dragged this out a little too long but what I'd really like to know is preferably a full list of supported CPUs for my computer and/or whether the i5-4310M is supported. Thanks!

Hello, I am wondering if it is POSSIBLE, not RECOMMENDED, to upgrade the CPU of the HP ProBook 650 G1 to the most powerful processor for its socket (G3), the Intel Core i7-4940MX Extreme Edition. I ask this because most laptops of this model come with a 37-watt TDP processor, but the 4940MX is a 57-watt TDP. I am worried not by the possibility of overheating, but the motherboard/BIOS restrictions there might be even though the processor will likely fit. Will the new processor operate on the laptop despite the TDP jump?

I would like to upgrade the Probook 440 G3 with a secondary storage a  2,5 500 GB SSD.In this notebook primary storage is a 256 GB SSD M.2.Is it possible the installation of both without removing the first  256 GB SSD M.2  (SSD M.2 Primary storage + SSD 2,5 Secondary storage)? If yes is it necessary to buy the Hard drive Hardware Kit (includes bracket and screws)? Thank you

A:Probook 440 G3 SSD Upgrade

See p. 35 of the Manual here: Service Manual There is a SATA hard drive bay and it looks like the SATA connectors on the drive plug directly into the motherboard. The M.2 slot is at right angles and above the hard drive bay so yes, you can have both a 2.5 inch SATA SSD and also the M.2 mSSD. You can just add in the 2.5 inch SATA SSD (or hard drive) and you really do need the hard drive mounting kit otherwise the hard drive will rattle around in the bay and that is not good for the laptop or the drive.  Hard Drive Hardware Kit, includes: 826382-001 http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?type=PROD&SearchText=T8Y22US When you install the SSD or HDD storage drive you will have to initialize and mount it (assign a drive letter) in disk management. I recently purchased a Probook 450 G4 with 8 GB of RAM.I purchased a module 8GB Kingston KCP421SD8 / 8  for the purpose of upgrade to 16GB.I put it in place of the original, and works well. But I can not put in the free slot neither the new nor the old module. As seen from the picture, the two slots have different retaining tabs.In the left one (factory occupied) engages easily. In the right (free) does not fit in whole (as seen in the second image).     What should I do to fix it? Thanks and regards.

A:Upgrade RAM Probook 450 G4

Ii actually looks as if the module is not inserted correctly. There should not be any gold on the module pins visible if inserted properly. The left hand memory module is correctly inserted. Have you tried putting the original module in the slot? Is your notebook still in warranty?

Hey hey internet,  I have been thinking about upgrading my usb ports on my probook and wanted to know if anyone has had a go at it and if so, how'd they get on and where did they start? Also, more importantly, if it is actually possible to do, I know the 4530 was able to support usb 3 and figured it should be fine for the 4730 but always good to check, right?  Thanks in advance and hope all is well with you fine people

Hello I have a Hp proobook 4710s with win7 ultimate 64bit and I want to upgrade my Ram.

Currently according to CPU-z I have 2GB at 800Mhz. While searching hp.com and the net I found out that some 4710s take ddr2  and other ddr3.

So I chated 2 weeks ago with an HP expert and he told that my laptop handles maximum 8GB at 1333. So I went and bought 2x2GB at 1333...

When I tried to installed them I came across with a DDR2 socket!!!!! Obviously the ddr3 wasn't fitting in that socket.
So my question is---> WHAT is going on? Everywhere I search in the Net some say DDR2 and others DDR3. How is that possible? Does the laptop have other sockets for Drr3 modules that I haven't find?

My S/N is {Removed for privacy} and P/n is NX629EA#AKD

Please help because I am depserate!!

Hi, Many thanks for the link, I really don't know what is going on here too. On page #3 it says DDR2 but on other page(s) it says DDR3. Its manual also shows DDR2 as in my previous post and you've found out it only supports DDR2. May be later models support DDR3. Anyway, back to your question, I know Crucial RAM works but do not know others. Sorry. Regards.

Hi guys! I'm using HP Probook 450 G1, I bought a Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB to upgrade the original HDD (Seagate SSHD 500GB). I've installed a clean Windows 10 on the SSD. I've putted the SSD in the main SATA and the HDD in the optical caddy which replaced the DVD drive.  The problems are: Windows 10 hangs at the windows logo, the spinner keep spinning for endless and I have to hard-reset my laptop or I can boot windows successfully but the windows can't see the HDD in optical caddy but when i use Seagate DiskWizzard in HirenBoot 15.2, it seem like my latop can connect with the HDD. Sometimes it boot successfully, windows recogize the HDD and I can see the HDD partition in Explorer, but when I shutdow my laptop, and boot it again, windows hang again. If I disable the "Optical Drive" in bios or remove the HDD optical caddy, my laptop boot smoothy. I've tried re-install windows 10 on the ssd for several times but it didn't work. I've already deleted partition that have the previous Windows on the HDD, upgrade bios (bios v 1.31), turn off fastboot in bios,... Also, I've tried to install both SSD and HDD to another laptop (Vaio) and it worked fine, nothing happened. I wonder if HP Probook 450 G1 doesn't support to use HDD in optical drive. Please help me, I'm so desperate righ now. Thank you for reading my post!

I bougth this laptop wich came with 1 RAM module (Samsung DDR4, 2133Mhz, CL15). I plan to replace it but I don't know the maximum speed I can purchase. I'd liked to buy 2x4GB Kingstone modules, 2400Mhz CL14, which is the best I've found. Is it possible to use it or should I go for the 2133Mhz option? Yes that is the memory you need and yes, with 32 bit Windows only about 3.5 to 4 gigs can be used. To go higher you need a 64 bit operating system.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

You cannot replace an AMD APU with an Intel APU.  The platforms are not interchangeable.  It is either an AMD processor and AMD systemboard or an Intel processor with an Intel based systemboard . If you want an Intel processor, then you will have to purchase a notebook with the Intel platform and APU. The following APUs are compatible with your systemboard. A8-5550M, 3.1-GHz/2.1-GHz, 4-MB L2 cache, HD 8550G graphics 713551-001?A8-4500M, 2.8-GHz/1.9-GHz, 4-MB L2 cache, HD 7640G graphics 683048-001?A6-5350M, 3.5-GHz/2.9-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, HD 8450G graphics 713550-001?A6-4400M, 3.2-GHz/2.7-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, HD 7520G graphics 683047-001?A4-5150M, 3.3-GHz/2.7-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, HD 8350G graphics 713549-001?A4-4300M, 3.0-GHz/2.5-GHz, 1-MB L2 cache, HD 7420G graphics 685990-001  Source: Maintenence & SErvice Guide for your model notebook on page 20http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03765776.pdf
