Why there is still no announcement of new Thinkpad?

Preferred Solution: Other companies have already announced new 2019 laptops, nothing from Lenovo yet. What is wrong?

I recommend downloading and running Outlook PST Repair. It's a PST repair tool that I've used it in the past to recover emails, contacts, tasks and notes from corrupt Outlook files that are damaged or inaccessible. Supports Outlook 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013.

You can download it direct from this link http://goo.gl/1bjhSi. (This link will automatically start a download of Outlook PST Repair that you can save to your computer.)

A: Other companies have already announced new 2019 laptops, nothing from Lenovo yet. What is wrong?

What? New thinkpads (L & E series) have been launching all over the place already. Not only that, Lenovo hasn't even presented yet. Why would they announce something at CES when their event is still an hour and a half away? Link:11AM PST 7JAN19 https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/events/ces/ Though their UK site shows an extra day.

I have some white / blank box that appears in Outlook 2019 / Excel 2019 after my computer goes to sleep. The only way to get it to go away is restarting Outlook / Excel. MORE DETAILS from another user reporting the same problem...https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-1809-cannot-change-screen-brightnes... Windows 10 1809: floating white shapes on screenAfter updating to Windows 10 version 1809, I have experienced several strange issues with my display. I am using a Lenova Yoga 920 laptop. These problems go away after rebooting the computer, but then re-emerge after using the computer for a while, and persist until I reboot again. It is getting very irritating, and interfering with my work.  - A mysterious floating white circle appeared on my desktop background. I cannot click on or interact with it, and changing the desktop background does not remove the circle. Then, a second circle appeared. Now, there is also a floating white rectangle. The rectangle poses the biggest issue, because it remains on TOP of whatever other windows I have open, constantly obstructing part of my screen unless I reboot the computer. The circles remain on the desktop background. I have attached a picture of these weird white artifacts on my display. Things I have already tried:- Installing all available Windows patches and updates- Updating graphics driver- Checking/unchecking auto-brightness settings

What do companies do when an employee returns a laptop or exchanges an old one for a new one? What would they do with Instant Messenger chat logs, favorites, emails, and any other personal information that may have been left on the computer?

If the computer is old and they are probably not going to give it to another employee, what would they do with it at that point?

Does anyone know what policies are, or if you've worked in the business what are standard practices ( what really goes on?)

A:What do companies do with returned laptops?

It would depend on the company and their awareness of security/privacy issues, also their policy on personal use of business laptops. Plus their budget for supporting those policies.
A good company should ensure that all personal info was cleared out before giving it to another employee.
If it's being discarded, the hard drive should be securely wiped to remove personal or commercially sensitive info.

I have a Lenovo G560 with an Intel HM55 Express Chipset, version 2.12 of BIOS, a Pentium P6200 CPU, and no dedicated graphics. I also have a brain-full of forum knowledge, lol. My EXACT question is this... Can I upgrade my CPU to an Intel Core i7-640M? According to my research, this processor is the fastest, best processor that is compatible with my computer's chipset, and I understand that some have already tried to use this processor only to find that it does not work. But since it is a semi-new year, and I'm not even sure if I have the latest BIOS yet, I want to try to upgrade in order to have a long term laptop. I've seen on some forums that the CPU didn't work, but the forums were dated. I've also seen that the lenovo G560 sometimes came with a dedicated graphics card from AMD/NVidia (although my PC does not have this), could this be a possible compatibility issue? Lenovo says the G560 can accept an i5-520M. But I don't see a reason it shouldn't work, except for a possible BIOS whitelist. But even then, I have seen on another dated forum that lenovo does whitelist WLAN cards, but not CPUs.

Lenovo - X1C7 - X1 Carbon 7th Generation 2019 -  Pre-Order Start and Delivery Dates? Hi there! I am in the market to update my X1 Carbon 1st Gen(!) to the current, upcoming X1 Carbon 7th Gen (X1C7). Obviously, the only available option currently (as of January 28, 2019) on Lenovo.com is the X1 Carbon 6th Gen.May I ask if anyone knows when pre-order will begin and when delivery will start please?I saw the initial press announcement at CES that "delivery is June 2019", though that is very broad and doesn't differentiate between pre-order start date and actual delivery date.Thank you in advance.

A:Lenovo - X1C7 - X1 Carbon 7th Generation 2019 - Pre-Order Start and Delivery Dates?

Typically, Lenovo puts the laptops up for sale when they're ready to ship. So probably late May or early June would be when you can pre-order one, with delivery in June as well.

Hope that helps.

It fixed the problem for a while but after the last windows update, the fix stopped working. I uninstalled and re-installed the most recent driver from the lenovo website but I realized the most recent driver is from May 2017, so it does not address any of the issues brought by recent windows updates.  Right now, the Device Manager shows Error Code 10. Hi guys, This morning System Update ran and installed a bunch of the newest March 2019 updates. The big one was the Intel Management Engine. After rebooting, when my Thunderbolt 3 Dock is plugged into my Lenovo P52 it freezes on the POST screen with the Lenovo logo. If i unplug the dock it boots fine, plug the dock in after the OS is booted, things work fine. Its just during the POST during secure boot. I tried reflashing the Thunderbolt firmware to the 11/2018 to no avail, reflashed the dock with version 3.x of the firmware (latest) no difference, downgraded the firmware on the dock, changed the boot support methods for thunderbolt, so on and so forth.  Its strange it doesn't get past the logo screen it just sits. Is there another version of the Thunderbolt firmware i should be using besides the November 2018? I really would not like to peel back all the different updates that it updatedAnybody got any ideas? Is there a way to find what the cause is? Honestly i can unplug the dock when i reboot and plug it back in within a second after the POST screen and things work as normal. Its just a pain.

Hi All, We have disabled the 'Flash BIOS Updating by End-Users' setting in all ThinkPad laptops in our organization, becuase we don't want activities with high risk to be performed by end users, Recently 1 remote user with ThinkPad T440P received a popup window to install drivers updates through the Lenovo System Update utility, the System Update tried to update the BIOS and asked the user for the BIOS Supervisor password, the user tried to type his domain password 3 times and eventually he received a message that "Supervisor Password retry count exceeded. You have to reboot the system and try again.",The problem is that after the user reboot, the laptop shows a message of "0199: System Security - Security password retry count exceeded. Press F1 to enter setup",And the laptop doesn't alllow the user to boot at all without entering the Supervisor password, this is a problem becuase remote users will not be able to boot, and obviously we can't provide the password for users, I see that in T460 there is a BIOS setting of "Password Count Exceeded Error" which can be disabled to prevent this behaviour, so the laptop will not require to type the supervisor password in such case,But the T440P do not have this setting to prevent this behavior,My question is, what could be done to configure T440P laptops not to require to type the supervisor password in such cases, as this have serious impact on remote users who can't boot th... I took a look online and I?ve found plenty of good and bad things about lenovo but none of the bad reviews extend past early 2016. I?d appreciate if anyone could give me an idea about how Lenovo?s doing right now. Some of the problems I?ve been told are inherent in Lenovo?s hardware are faulty ports, motherboard problems, faulty keys and buttons, and overall just full laptop shutdowns.

I just want to post a warning here from my own experience about Lenovo laptops, I originally got one for Christmas in 2012 and about 4 months after getting it, I had to take it to Geek Squad at Best Buy so they could fix the Hard Drive and Motherboard, later on in the year I had an issue with Lenovo software on my computer and then had to go about spending $60 to order Recovery Disks to fix that issue and then about 6-7 months later I was starting to have problems with the charger wanting to go out and not work and that cost me $60 to buy a universal charger for it and shortly after buying a new charger I was starting to have issues with the graphics card wanting to crash every hour or so and afterwards I finally just said to hell with it and ordered a new laptop and gave this one to a friend and earlier this week he came to me and asked me to help him fix it for him because he lost everything on it and I told him I would just put a fresh install of Windows on it and as I started to install Windows 7 it just started shutting off on its own and then told him to just buy a new laptop because that was just something that couldn't be fixed, so I figured I would just give everyone that warning about Lenovo computers, they don't last long and they always end up with problems

I've been a long time Thinkpad user. I've been using T420s for years, and T61 before then, always running Linux. I recently received a W450 (I think) for work, which has no real buttons. This touchpad is pretty much unusable for me, so I am going to return the laptop. I noticed that the newer laptops have the real buttons above the touchpad back (clearly, I am not the first one to find the  buttonless touchpad unusable). The real buttons at the top are nice (and important), but I also use the buttons below the touchpad a lot, and I don't see any Thinkpad that still has these. Does Lenovo still sell any laptop with the real buttons both above and below the touchpad? By the way, I don't understand why Lenovo needed to change the touchpad all of a sudden after using pretty much the same configuration for many years, dating back to the IBM Thinkpad as I recall. What was wrong with the old configuration that they needed to take away the buttons that were fine for all these years? Don't answer that. I don't really care what the reason was. But this puts me in a bind because I can't move off my current T420s until I find something similar that has the physical buttons, including the middle button. I don't know if they exist. Lenovo has broken the perfect touchpad as far as I am concerned, which is unfortunate.

A:Any Lenovo laptops still have real buttons under touchpad?

Not that I know of. The alternative is to pretend the TrackPoint buttons are the touchpad buttons and use those, which isn't too bad except for needing to configure the settings in a special way to make it fully usable. There was nothing wrong with the usability of the old design, but usable just wasn't fashionable any more.

I owned a Lenovo P72. Great machine. However, one day I discovered that though my P72 was plugged in it wasn't taking a charge. I know what the drill is in resoloving this issue, which in part is the removal of thge battery. First, the instructions are worthless inspite of over 100 pages of text. I ended up 'chatting' and discovered what I thought the location was and how to get at it. The batteery (no description given as to appearance) was accessed through the bottom pannel. The bottom panel is secured with five (?) tiny phillips head screws. Idiocy! Tiny phillips head screws are easily stripped. (I gigerly attempted one but didn't 'push' it for fear of stripping. As my 30 days no fuss return hadn'tg expired, I returned it.) I like Lenovo, at least as much as I could tell in the 25 days that I had it, but I want a machine where the battery is easily accessed. (I've owned several laptops and ALL of them had easy access batteries.) Are there ANY Lenovo laptops that have batteries which are EASILY accessed without dealing with tiny screws? Latches would be nice as most other brands have latches securing the battery. (I've just spent over ten minutes trying to figure out how to post a general Lenovo question in community. Why are communities of any kind so difficult to get info or ask questions?)

Which range of Lenovo laptops would support dual-monitors with least hassle? I think I'm asking which models have displayport outputs as that seems the preferred route. The product selection system on the website doesn't allow this granularity of filtering so one would have to look through the entire range! Thanks, Rob.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's Lenovo Group Ltd, the world's largest PC maker, had pre-installed a virus-like software on laptops that makes the devices more vulnerable to hacking, cybersecurity experts said on Thursday.
Users reported as early as last June that a program called Superfish pre-installed by Lenovo on consumer laptops was 'adware', or software that automatically displays adverts.
Robert Graham, CEO of U.S.-based security research firm Errata Security, said Superfish was malicious software that hijacks and throws open encrypted connections, paving the way for hackers to also commandeer these connections and eavesdrop, in what is known as a man-in-the-middle attack.

Hi.  I?m not sure if there?s already forums, which has answers to my problematics, so please don?t feel irritated if there?s already someone, who had the answer in a another forum .  I brought my Lenovo Yoga 720-13ikb for about 8 months ago and until last month, them there wasn?t any problems. But then it suddenly became slow and laggy and I don?t know why. I had tried to update my graphic cards driver to the newest and had recently performed a fresh start via Windows Defended Security Center, but it didn?t help. Do you guys had experience the same problem or do you know what could be a possible cause? I also have to partions on my SSD; a C drive, where Windows 10 and all my programs are and a D drive, where it seems that there?s drivers from Lenovo. Can I combine them to one my drive or should I just leave it as it is? And if I can, them how? Then I?m also curious to figure out, how my laptop overall health is, since I?m a student, so I want it to perform as best as possible. Is there a way to figure out a laptops overall health and how the condition of my battery is?  I hope that you guys can answer my questions or at least notify me of any other topics, which have the answers to my problems .

I own 2 Lenovo laptops. An ideapad y700 (still under warranty) and a flex 3 (just out of warranty). Both are in need of bios patches to address the Intel ME vulnerability, and yet nothing posted with respect to these models. Any Lenovo computer over a year old has been ignored so far. This is unacceptable Lenovo, would you please do what is right and provide us some answers?

Hi,

I work in a corporate IT environment and have recently noticed alot of our 64 bit laptops are blue screening due to iaStor.sys (Intel Rapid storage technology driver - x64)

I have been able to do the basic analyzing but It would be a great help if anyone could follow this up and let me know if there is anything else causing this as I have removed the driver and installed a new one but it still appears to be blue screening

I have attached a zip folder with mini dumps attached (Couldn't get the SF Diagnostics tool working)

Many Thanks!

It looks like all of your BSODs are being caused by the Intel display driver:

I need assistance for getting drivers package for our Lenovo laptops (T440s, T450s, T460s and X1 Carbon). We are currently image our laptop with Dell Kace K2000, we noticed the drivers available in the SCCM package on Lenovo website are not up-to-date and we need to run Lenovo system update every time when we image a laptop which causing delays and manual works. We tried to automate running the system update by using the following script which supposed to update all drivers, including critical, recommended and optional, but it only updates the critical ones. tvsu.exe /CM -search A -action INSTALL -showprogress -IncludeRebootPackages 1,3,4

Apply the applicable firmware update that is provided by the device manufacturer. Windows Updates and January 2018 Windows security updates (step#2) are not enough, as your chat support wrongly suggested us. We are currently quite disappointed on reading about a lack of support for our laptops when the risks is at planetary level because of flawed CPUs design. Thank you for your support.
