I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi.

We are trying to make a basic scom integration , to prevent the need to have another console open all the time , scom will run with a limited account to prevent security issues

But not all events are being logged to the Windows Event Log that is visible in the ATA console
And if different event it could be used for each type it would be perfect

Trust Relations ship broken is logged
Suspicious DNs is logged

Services Exposing Account is NOT logged
Health Center
Dropped Port Mirror  is NOT logged
ATA Gateway Stopped  is NOT logged

Hello;
I'm trying to create a rule to monitor a log file and generate alert:
File location: D:\Shared_Memory_Logs\
File format: MEM_USAGE__.log
File content to parse: Number of Memory Process running-: 15

If possible, trim the end digits (15 is the example above) and alert on its value:

if the end digit is greater than 295  generates critical alert

I need to use reqular expression to look for this pattern:

.*contains[ ]Number[ ]of[ ]Memory[ ]Process[ ]running*.

This part was ok/working, I need to parse the value in front and alert for its value; if the number was higher than 295 generate critical alert?

Any help appreciated:

Hello
We have setup ATA with an ATA Gateway where we currently have three DC sending traffic and logs. To monitor our roughly 300 servers we use SCOM but for some reason on the ATA Gateway server the SCOM Gateway is unable to read the security log.
The eventlog is
"The Windows Event Log Provider is still unable to open the Security event log on computer 'ATAGateway'. The Provider has been unable to open the Security event log for 8640 seconds.
Most recent error details: Access is denied.
One or more workflows were affected by this.
Workflow name: ATAGateway
Instance ID: {84875B80-057B-B487-BB7C-7C177D1E3383}
Management group: Scom"

The agent is using the default action account SYSTEM. That account should normaly have access to the Security log and this is the only server that we have this problem with. We are using the ATA MP in SCOM.
I have tried to reinstall the agent. I have added the system account to the log reader group.

We do not have  this problem on the ATA Center server.
Both servers is Windows 2016.
We are running SCOM 2016
Anybody has any idea?

Best Regards
Peter

Howdy folks

I'm stuck in a bit of a weird situation here that I have no idea how to fix.
I just bought and installed a new hard drive for the purpose of doing a RAID 0 configuration with my old drive. The BIOS picks up the new hard drive perfectly, and it's being recognised in Disk Management.

See, the pickle here is when I try to convert my Disks from Basic to Dynamic, I get this little epitome of frustration:
...HELP!
Google's not co-operating with me on this one, I can't find a single relevant article.
Is there any way to change the ever elusive 'pack name'?
Anything even slightly relevant will be a relief to read by comparison, so don't hesitate to recommend anything.

A:"The pack name is invalid..." - Disk Management Issue

Hi, Modus Operandom, and welcome to the forums.

You say convert it to RAID - but I am puzzled as to why on earth would you try to do that in Disk Management? Are you attempting to use Software based RAID?

Networked, distributed computing environments require continuous maintenance, including the application of patches and fixes. The need to apply patches is not necessarily the result of flaws or deficiencies in operating systems or applications. Patches may be required to maintain a viable IT environment in the face of software updates, to block opportunities to exploit extended technologies, or to neutralize emerging security threats. These factors exist in all development and production environments. The critical question facing IT managers is how well their organizations will manage the inevitable patch management process.
This solution accelerator is designed to help consultants, partner organizations, and internal IT support staff develop a comprehensive patch management solution for their organizations

Hello HP community, I've been upgrading our organization's laptops to Windows 10 and turning on BitLocker for TPM-enabled machines. We have a decent volume of the 6460b model (around 75), and I have gone through well over half of them without issue. I've had to turn the TPM on for several of them, but that's no problem. However, last week, I was getting two more of the laptops updated and suddently encountered an error message when going to the TPM Management interface within Windows: "Cannot load management console "Loading of the management console failed. The device that is required by this cryptographic provider is not ready for use. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80090030) Try again." The TPM shows in the device manager, but not in Speccy. The option in the BIOS for TPM controls is greyed out. I've tried the following and seen no change in symptoms:Uninstalling the TPM from the device manager and letting it re-install.Checking for any additional Windows updates.Updated the chipset drivers directly from the HP support site.Modifying the permissions in the BIOS to ensure that TPM options are set to "Change" rather than "View" or "Hide."Updating the BIOS with files from the HP support site. What other information could I provide that would help identify the issue here? It seems like the TPM is there because it continues to re-install itself after I remove it from the device manager. Further, the error indicates that it's not ready for use, implying ... Read more

Hello folks, My y510p is painfully slow after bootup, highly annoying.  I have tried researching it and see several references to lenovo power management possibly being the issue.  When I look in startup via task manager, I see both lenovo battery management and lenovo energy management.  What is the difference?  Should I have them both?  Can I uninstall one or both, and if so, how?  I do not see them in control panel or elsewhere. ThanksChad

This is nothing new to me, that is to say, managing shares from the Computer Management Snap-In. What is "new" to me is why on certain machines on the network the "Properties" and "Stop Sharing" items are not listed int he context menu when you right-click on a share. Is this a permissions issue? I can't see that it would be seeing as how the "Computer Administrator" is ticked in the "Users" control panel. Any ideas? I've actually wondered about this for a long time, but now it's essential that I know.

A:Share Management via "Computer Management" Snap-In

Yes this is permission issue. You have to give user file sharing permission and security permission. If you give premission to user to use files or share have to check your security permission. Also make sure users power user permission on local computer.Check your GPO for users instead.

You can also try SFC scan:

The System File Checker tool scans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
1. Click Start and then type cmd in the Start Search box.

2. Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue
3. At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER:

sfc /scannow

4. Hit Enter.

The SFC scan should replace the corrupted files.
I hope this helps you, Good Luck.

I'm hoping someone who has done a bit of network administration can figure this one out. Take a look at this post, in which I tried to get an answer on the subject in question.

Just bought new never used factory fresh PC Acer AXC-605-UR29
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 manufacrtured this year,
I checked for latest updates and sure enough Service Pack 1 shows up in updates

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932)

Download size: 9.1 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Important

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 is a recommended collection of updates and improvements to Windows that are combined into a single installable update. The service pack can help make your computer safer and more reliable. A typical installation will take about 30 minutes to complete, and you will have to restart your computer about halfway through the process.

This is a brand new PC that was loaded with factory Windows 7 SP1 so what is going on here?
Can I simply ignore the update? My only concern is that somehow MS updates will is considering
Windows 7 outdated and that I will receive no more updates since the Service Pack 1 is showing up
in the update section. How the heck is the possible with a factory image. One other thing that might help is that before I could check for any new updates Windows said I required a update to windows update. I
Did this update before finding the lastest updates. Also many updates are post cut off date for Windows 7 SP 0 so it did show updates until December 2014, I guess I will find out it Windows will continue to supply new updates this coming Tuesday...

Hi

Anyone who knows the issues with CODECS for Vista will probably know about Shark007's Vista Codec Pack and how it solved all codec issues in one small package.

Well, Shark has recently released the VCP for Windows 7 (Alpha but stable!)
The info can be found at Shark007's Homepage for Win 7 CODECS and downloaded from MajorGeeks.

Excellent history for these packages, small footprint, effective and all you need for every media file to play in WMP and WMC...GET YOURS TODAY!

NOTE - There seems to be a behaviour noted in Vista that possibly has carried over to Win7 as well. It's not a VCP related behaviour but it CAN affect if some files play or not.
Vista (and Win7) come with both a 32 & 64bit version of WMP and it was found in Vista that if you associated a certain file type with WMP while the 64bit player was set to the default, that file association could NOT be changed even if WMP was set to use the 32bit player as default afterwards. This causes certain file types to be Unplayable due to 64bit WMP's limitations (well actually it's CODEC limitations). There are no functional differences between 32 or 64bit WMP but because of "lazy" CODEC developers, many CODECS are not 64bit compatible...yet.

Because of this, most of us set the 32bit WMP as default before making any file association changes for WMP. This way the 32bit WMP will play all file types with no issues using VCP. Unfortunately, if you have opened a media file in W7 and checked the "asso... Read more

A:Vista will not update from Service Pack 1 to Service Pack 2

Hi,

To recreate the error, I suggest we try these steps to reinstall
SP2.

Step 1: Run the System Update Readiness Tool
====================================
1. Please download the System Update Readiness Tool from the link below according to the System Type:

2. Double click downloaded file to run the System Update Readiness Tool.

=================================================
1. Click Start, type "cmd" (without the quote) in the Start Search bar, right-click cmd.exe and click run as administrator.

Hi,
I bought my cpu in June of 08. I have been having problems. I'm trying to fix them one by one. I was wondering if I had the correct Service Packs. Under Windows Updates I can see them all going back to when I bought it. It shows 1 service pack update, KB948465 on 9/19/09. It does not show a 2nd. Under Windows Edition in my System (Control Panel) it shows Windows Home Premium and Service Pack 2.

Can I forget about 1 or do I need it? Hopefully Service Pack 2 includes all that was in SP1 and more! Thanks in advance for your help.

I have had a couple of XP Dells shoved down my throat for our NT4 domain network. I need some guidance in disabling the mountains of garbage in this OS which have absolutely no place in a business network, e.g., themes, screensavers, chat clients, games, RA, UPNP, IE, and whatever else this piece of...er, OS is doing in the background. I have screwed around with gpedit but it borders on ridiculous, and, of course, affects "administrator" as well.

A book, a comprehensive web site, or whatever suggestions?

MS has balls calling XP "Professional" with a straight corporate face... real hairy balls. Jeez, the arrogance...

Thanks...
