I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:HELP! music is playing in the background but no music program is open!

Are you close to a radio station's transmitter site and antenna? That sounds like "RFI" (Radio Frequency Interference" getting into your speaker system.

When you get it, unplug the speakers from the PC but leave them powered on and the volume up and see if you still get it. If you do it's RFI and the speaker system is picking it up or it's coming through the AC power line to the speakers. If this just started I would suspect either a bad cable ground or just a dirty plug connection somewhere in the system.

I don't remember how long ago I submitted this problem, but it does not appear to have been addressed (or if it has I cant find the reply) I still have field within the properties box which do not have corresponding columns within the Explorer window.
I seems to me to be a real case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing as whoever designed these two items didn't exchange details. This was my original query "
Using Windows 10 / .wma & .wmv "properties" fields / Folder and file display columns. There are two fields in the properties
box "Content provider" and "Group description" which do not have corresponding columns within the folders. As I use both boxes, what do I do>" Nothing has changed!

Hey! My comp can play music but when I play DVDs or run .avis I only get background music and the vocal audio is so low it's almost muted. I can't figure it out. I have DivX installed and AC3Filter as well but I use WMP and Cyberlink PowerDVD, no vocals from either. Do I need codecs? How do I find out which I need?

A:Music Plays / No Vocals in Movies / Background Music Plays

I've been able to boost sound with the AC3Filter and get DVD vocals now through WMP but I still am not getting any vocals from my DVDs when played through my Cyberlink PowerDVD. Any suggestions? I'm sure I'm missing a codec or something but I can't figure out what. The website I used to go to to download audio codecs for WMP11 looks down for the count so I'm at a loss.

I'm running Windows XP and lately, my computer has been playing either music or audio ads in the background. iexplorer.exe process will show up and every time I stop it, the music/ad stops, but shortly after, I hear numerous clicking noises and the process is back. Also, after stopping the process, the Wave Volume setting in Volume Control is turned all the way down. Norton does not detect whatever this is.

Any help is very appreciated.

I run windows xp and live at an RV site so have access to wifi for my internet. I have a steady stream of music that plays any time I have my sound on. It only started last night but if I play anything that requires sound this electronic music plays in the background. I have had other intrusions over time but for the most they are probably stray signals (?) that come and go. This one is steady and repetitive. Same instrumental over and over. I was playing theRADIO.com yesterday morning and had left that on. I thought it was a song playing on the radio when I came home but it wasn't. I just muted it last night but this morning when I got up and wanted to play one of my favorite music stations the background music is still there.

I am having a problem where I have background ads: for example, I have had some from Zaxby's. At first, I thought it could have been from Mozilla Firefox, so I changed to Google Chrome. No difference.

You can't turn them off, and it doesn't matter what user I'm on. I can be at that main menu, music. BUT--- a user has to be logged in for the music to happen.

We have a Windows XP.

Also-- doesn't matter if any programs are up. Ads play anyway, over YouTube, Vevo, etc...

Seems a bit silly, but (using the default xbox music app) I can't have music playing in the background. I want to be able to hear my music as I do other things (on the desktop in particular), but as soon as I switch to a different app, my music cuts off.

What gives? I'm pretty sure this is just me missing something - no way this would be built in. Or is there no way to get past the apps automatically suspending themselves? Shouldn't the music app start a background process? Searched, but couldn't find anything.

And having it playing but taking up a fifth of my screen is unacceptable: even my cell phone can keep things going in the background. Especially when hitting my volume button even shows a little media control. I can pause/skip a song, but not hear it?

I miss my Zune software.

A:Playing Music In The Background

I'm using the Slacker Radio App, it keeps playing if I leave Metro and go to my desktop. I'm listening to it now as I type this post in IE. I'm not suggesting you switch to Slacker Radio, I'm just pointing out that it's a metro app and it keeps playing in the background. I don't think your Xbox music app should quit like that. I don't use or even have that app installed so I can't be of much more help. I hope you get it working the way you want though.

You can't. Very few email clients will allow music to be played in the background. Outlook Express will, but the recipient needs to have OE as well.

No one with web mail can get the music any way other than by attachment.

What I'm trying to do:
Fix my headphone sound/set-up on Windows 7. Can only hear background music on them on this specific PC.
No voices on music videos.
Headphones work great on other devices such as my laptop, my phone, and other phones.

I thought "maybe Sony headphones aren't compatible with windows 7".
But when I tried other headphones on this PC, I had the same issue.

I already uninstalled and re-installed updated sound drivers (AMD High Def audio, and Realtek).
And this issue has continued.

I'm not even sure this is a defect, because when I plug in my *speakers* on my PC,
they work perfectly.

When I plug in my headphones or speakers, they both show up as "speakers" in Playback Devices.
I even tried messing with the "Speakers Properties" levels' balance (with the headphones), and it made no difference.
Thank you so so much for reading this. And if you guys need me to printscreen anything, I will comply.

A:Headphones: Can only hear background music

UPDATE: I just found the weirdest solution. (Or at least one I could definitely work with meanwhile I figure this out)

There's a headphone jack on the *front* of my PC. And....when I plug in my speakers on there, the speakers work perfectly. B u t m y h e a d p h o n e s d o n ' t.

SO

I just tried connecting the headphones onto the green jack meant for the speakers that's in the *BACK* of my PC. ..............AND IT WORKED.
what?

Guess I'll just have to turn my pc around backwards Wish I tried it sooner
I uploaded a file!: This is what my PC says about the headphones.

Oh well, at least the headphones are working perfectly in the speaker plug! And the speakers are working perfectly in the headphone plug~

Whenever I use my any headset to watch a movie or a video on youtube, the background music always seems to be louder then the people talking in the video. Sometimes the background music is so loud you cant hear anything else. It only occurs on my labtop/notebook. My computer is a gateway NV59C09u running windows 7 home premium. Can some one help me solve this?

A:Background music is louder then commentary

Have you tried using more than one pair of headphones to see if the headphones are the problem?

Check your audio settings, such as "Mixer", "Effects", etc. Many times there are "3D Audio" settings or something similar, that will cause background sounds to appear much louder. Also, if your sound card has different "surround sound" options/settings that could cause a problem as well. Make sure your card is on "stereo".

Also, check your Windows audio/mixer settings...

=> Control Panel
=> Hardware and Sound
=> Sound
=> Click on your Audio Device
=> Click on Properties
=> Click the Enhancements tab. Check your settings.

Hi
I have had a lots of problems with errorsafe and regcleaner. Now I hear an irritating music that is looping in the background of my computer. Can that be some kind of infection? Just for the records, I have not been successful in removing either errorsafe of regcleaner, as no software find them, and I can not find them in the registry or folders.

Anyone who can tell me how to get rid of this irritating music in the first way?

Thank you all

Hey everyone, I just got a new PC with Windows 7, and when I booted it up, during setup, this very cool mystical music was playing in the background. Does anyone know where I could find that media file? I looked in the media folder on my disk for it but could not find it. Thanks is advance.

A:Background music during Windows 7 Setup

Welcome to the forum, Cmills

It's probably some bloatware added by the PC manufacturer. Perhaps to make you feel good about spending the money. Besides the Windows startup clip of about 2-3 seconds, there is no music playing on a standard Windows installation or setup. You might check to see what's in the StartUp folder and see what programs are run.

Don't know what a s5-1114 is but if you fill in more of your system specs, someone might be able to give more details.

I posted this topic in another thread but I was directed to come here for reinstalling. I keep having random ads, music, and noises playing in my background and it's unpredictable. I have ZeroAccess rootkit on my laptop. I have an HP and got my laptop a little over a year ago but I was never given a CD to help reformat my system. I was wondering if there's a way I don't need that or a bootable USB to reformat my system.

And another question too. When i write message via Windows 8 Messanger to my facebook friends, on my computer's converstation every message writing 2 st, but my friend, whose i wrote that message, going only 1 st. Why on m computer showing 2 st of every message?

Thanks my friends.

A:Background music player's sound becomes low

Those two things are weird
First of all your sound issue
Lets make sure that your windows are up to date
Then go to computer manufacturer's site and search for your model computer's Drivers
Update Chipset, audio, video USB, LAN, WLAN drivers (whatever applies to your computer)

Test it out and lets see what happens

This was very odd and happened a few minutes ago. I was online, two browser windows open when I realised that faintly in the background i could hear music. One window was open at my own website, the other was open whilst I was doing online banking. When I turned the computer sound up I could clearly hear dance music through the computer. There are none of those awful music playing ads etc on my banks site nor my own, so this has got me somewhat puzzled. I logged off the net, the music stopped, reconnected and it was back, tried a few sites and it was still present in the background. I logged back off, reconnected and it was gone.

I'm running a scan to see if there's a problem or virus etc on the computer, but it's got me a bit worried, there's nothing on in my house, I live in a detached with my nearest neighbour a few fields away but know there are often problems with the underground telephone wires. It reminded me of the old days when you picked up your telephone and got a crossed wire on the line, I've never heard of anything like that before happening on dialup. Any ideas please? Is it one of those peculiar quirks or something more worrying? I was after all on a very secure site being my banks banking service. Ideas and thoughts welcomed

I've had this issue for a couple of days now. It probably happened when I tried to make a very short backwards jump in VLC (shift + left arrow) and my fingers slipped and I hit something else.

Now, no dialogue in any of the videos, just the background music. Audio options seem okay in VLC, and I also reset the settings completely. No help. Then I discovered it was happening all over the platform (QuickTime did it too).

I googled all over the place with no results. The dialogue comes back at random when I mess with unplugging the audio jack and putting it back in. Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, sometimes I need to leave the audio jack half way out to hear the dialogue. Sometimes plugging the headphones in the front audio jack helps, sometimes not.

I discovered that the front jack was somehow set to 5.1 surround, but I reset it back to stereo. No help. Usually the issue happens when I open a file. File plays okay, I close it, re-open it, then it may or may not have dialogue.

Other way around too... doesn't play, doesn't, doesn't and then it does. Completely random.

It's frustrating as hell.

Using Win7 x64 bit Ultimate with headphones.

A:No dialogue in videos, just the background music

Have you tried to restore back to when the dialog was coming through.

I have heard this place is the most reliable to go and I am eager to find a solution to my computer's problems.

About a week ago, I contracted the Malware Defense virus. After hours of downloading malware bytes, re downloading its exe files, and other stuff I was able to kick it off my system. But ever since its been gone, my system has been freezing randomly every half hour. It locks up to the point where the task manager wont even open by ctrl+alt+delete, and I have to reboot it manually. It gets even more complicated from here. If I shut it down manually, upon starting I am able to sign in to my account and get to my desktop. Once I get to the desktop, the screen freezes and only permits me to move my mouse (similar to that prank where you hide the taskbar and desktop icons, and throw up a background of a normal desktop, except I cant click anything). The only way to get it to boot up normally is once I manually start it, on the login in screen or in safe mode, I tell it to restart. I'm thinking that Malware Defense jacked up a driver or something, because nothing is detected when I run anti-malware/spyware/virus scans.

Another weird thing is that when I'm on facebook or something, I hear an advertisement that doesn't pertain to any ad on the the website and doesn't stop when I close my browser. I AM REALLY ANNOYED! I know I need to run some scans before you can target the problem, and I'm eager to hear a response!

I was hijacked by OnPay,Inc or something like that, telling me that I had critical hard drive errors and it kept producing a ton of pop-ups. My desktop icons disappeared and my program names under START as well. I ran 'unhide' and that brought back my programs. I then did a sys restore to a previous point and that seemed to take care of the bulk of the problem. However, subsequently I started having random advertising(audio only)playing at random times. Also, my Google does not 'preview' when typing my search string. It takes a long time after hitting enter for it to display results. Sometimes they don't even display and I have to click on the actual seach icon to the right.
Also, I can hear audio when I watch Youtube, etc, but on one of my web based programs that I use, the audio is silent--only the video can be seen.

I went back after that and, in SAFE MODE, I ran TDDSKiller and it found nothing. I also ran COMBOFIX(sorry, it was before I found and read this site), so I am attaching the results as well.

I then did a complete scan with Malwarebytes which found no infected files.
