Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller is working porrly with cards, T420s

Q: Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC Host Controller is working porrly with cards, T420s

I've T420s, Ricoh PICe SDXC/MMC Host Controller, and several SD cards. Right away I can say that the cards (Kingston, Samsung, Transcend) are all right, tried them on different computer and phone, they work well, so I assume this is not a card issue. I never used Card reader extensively, so I can't say if it started lately or was always like that, my T420s is about 1 year old and I'm running Windows 7 32bit. Here is the problem. Device seems to be switching on and off all the time when the card is inserted or taken out. I can say this as I'm keeping device manager window open. It seems like the connection between card reader and motherboard (?) is very bad, as I have to press on the device to pop out and press it back in to appear in the list of devices. When I plug in the card, it might actually show up, but then, when I pop out the card and pop it back it, it won't show again. So I have to take out the device itself again to have a chance of accessing my card. I've tried updating the driver from http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS014960 But it didn't help. I've seen this: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/SD-Card-reader-not-working-Code-22-ThinkPad... But even if the device appears under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, there is no "Ricoh SD Disk Device" under "Disk Drives" most of the times when I insert cards. Anyone had similar issues?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, answer42

I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date. If the BIOS is not up to date, the motherboard may not be fully recognizing when a card is present in the port. The latest BIOS for your machine is 1.35, and you can find that here. So definitely make sure the BIOS is up to date and see if that helps the issue.

Hope it helps,
Adam

My SD card slot does not work.
I am able to install this , and get an updated driver off windows update.
HOWEVER, in device manager, I see this message with a yellow "!"

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers
required for this device. (Code 31)

Have carried out an sfx /scannow but no corrupted files are reported.
Any ideas how to fix this?

My computer's make is Advent and I cannot get any joy from anyone online regarding my problem. I have posted to the Advent's forum and again, no one seems to know or answer.
These are the details:
Advent fp9004
Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit.

If you can provide a link to a driver's update, will this install automatically after downloading, or do I need to force the installation and what is the recommended way?

I would be very grateful for any information.

A:Ricoh SD Host Controller

Hello & welcome to sevenforums,

If you get an updated driver from Windows Update it means its on your computer now, you could manually try to install the Ricoh driver from the Device Manager .

from the device manager right click, search manually on your computer the path.

Follow this tutorial:
Driver Install - Device Manager

You could try to locate the driver name in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

If not working...the only link i founded for ricoh drivers v6.0:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37872.exe

Download the softpack sp37872 and extract it with 7-Zip for 32-bit Windows

Before:
Create yourself a restore point

Run the Setup.exe inside the extracted folder sp37872.

Note:
You can also manually install the driver from the Device Manager by pointing the search to look at the extracted softpack sp37872 if running the setup.exe doesn't work properly on your machine.

I have been having a problem with my built in Ricoh card reader for quite a while, originally while running Vista Ultimate x86 and now with Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have an Asus G1s.
The problem is that it does not read SD cards, and when I insert an sd card the "Ricoh memory stick disk device" under disk drives in device manager changes to "Ricoh xd-Picture card disk device" and suffers from error 10 failing to start. It seems to me that the problem id that the card reader does not recognise the sd card and thinks it is an xd card.
Under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" I jave three Ricoh devices
Ricoh memory stick controller Hardware id
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_15D71043&REV_12
Ricoh SD/MMC Host controller HW id

and Ricoh xd-picture card controller HW id
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0852&SUBSYS_15D71043&REV_12
Apart from that I have Ricoh 1394 OHCI compliant Host controller HW id

and my standard sda controller HW id
PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0822&SUBSYS_15D71043&REV_22
It seems like there is a problem either with the firewire host or the sd sdbus.sys host not recognising the card
I have fully updated all drivers and even tried to change the compatible hardware id in the sdbus.inf and reloading to match the sd host controller al to no avail.
I would very much appreciate any help as the usb card readers I buy are always ... Read more

WIN 7 Ultimate, 64 bit, ASUS M3A78-EM Motherboard.

I built my PC about 3-4 year ago using the above MB and OS and I am very happy with it.

I recently decided to install a 4 port, front, USB 3 hub.

The MB doesn't directly support USB 3 but does have a PCIe 2 slot.

I purchased from Scan a Lycom UB-115, 1x Ext' 1 x Int' 2 x port USB 3 PCIe card, this is a powered card as is the front hub which was puchased seperate to the card.

The multi software disk that came with the PCIe card is NEC.

Installing the front 4 port hub was a doodle, on restarting machine, new hardware was recognised and successfully installed and I know power is getting to hub.

I wasn't so lucky with the software, the NEC 64 bit software installs OK but the USB 3 host controller/driver is not found. If I look in device manger it is not there under Universal Serial Bus Controller, ( which is where I assume the USB 3 controller would show ) and there are no yellow warning triangles, Windows simply can't find the installed software/ host controller/driver.

I spoke to Scan who directed me to Lycom's driver download page, there is an update, so downloaded it, uninstalled previous version, installed update version, still no joy, nothing in device manger.

If I click start, all programs, I can see the software, if I click on the USB 3 Utility icon, a window pops us informing USB 3 Host Controller/Drive not found.

Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?

I have TWO pcie NEC USB 3.0 host controller cards installed. Each card has two usb 3.0 ports.

Everything was fine until I installed the second card. Now I get a BSOD only when I shutdown, and it seems every time I shutdown. It boots fine.

Question: I know I have given very little detail but in general, is there any reason I should not be able to have two of these cards installed? The device mgr actually looks like 3 are installed (under USB Controllers).

Hi Elliot and welcome
Without the DMP's there could be a million reasons. You should be able to have two or more but if the number of drivers/devices in device mgr is different than the correct number that in itself could be the problem...Try UN-installing the highest number device.

I plan to build a data server with this motherboard and buy Promise Supertrak EX8350 which is PCI-E x4 Raid controller card.

Can I just install the PCI-E x4 Raid controller card into PCI-E x16 slot which is normally for video card? And Just buy a cheap regular PCI video card for PCI 2.2 slot?

Hopefully someone could help me with this and I thank you in advance.

Go to your device manager and check your usb controllers for one that is "enhanced". If it isn't there, update your driver. Did you get a disk with the pci card? You may need to disable your old ports until you install the 2.0 and then enable again.

Hello, I have to work with special PCIe cards (x1 up to x16), usually connected in a tower. I want to replace my old tower (E31) with a ThinkPad P51. I was looking for solutions to connect PCIe x16 cards over USB3 and found some do-it-yourself tutorials, but I didn't find a kind of cloed box for 1 to 4 PCIe cards that I can connect to the ThinkPad Dockinstation. I found a lot of threads concerning the extension of grafic cards for notebooks like:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/External-GPUs-on-P50-Mobile-Workstation-... But I don't want to connect grafic cards. The PCIe cards are used to connect other 3rd party hardware. For example I need the card "ADLINK PCIE-GIE64" because I only got drivers for this device and I can't use the onboard network card. Looking forward for advices how I can connect PCIe cards to the docking station in a "clean and not self-made" solution. Thank you in advance.

Folks,

I have been working on this on/off all weekend and I STILL cannot get my USB 2.0 ports to work again and they were all working fine for the past 10 months. All 8 USB ports stopped working in 2.0 mode last week. They work perfectly fine in 1.1 mode using the standard Host Controller (BIOS is set for 1.1+2.0) when I disable the enhanced host controller.

My drivers are apparently screwed and I have done mostly everything suggested in various web sites to revive them (they had to be overwritten!).

My mobo doesn't have any updated chipset drivers (nVidia) and I simply reloaded my XP drivers to no avail.

Outside of the obvious/common troubleshooting, any one have any thoughts on this issue? I believe an update killed my ports!

Thanks!

Hi. First, im on a Lenovo Y510p Laptop. Yesterday, windows updated through windows update and when i logged into my computer, none of my usb ports were working. As in: My external mouse and keyboard were not connecting, they were working just before the update though.(they are new.) Device manager said there was an error with some driver so i tried to update, it said it was where it needed to be, so i uninstalled it, restarted the computer and it was fixed. Now, USB ports still not working, i have an error with this driver:

USB xHCI Compliant Host Controller
Under device status, it says:
Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)
The specified image file did not have the correct format, it did not have an initial MZ.

Im not sure what other information i should give so here is some stuff that may help:

When i press update driver it says that it is running the latest driver.
Obviously, this driver is under Universal serial bus controllers in device manager.
I use the laptop for mostly gaming.
My mouse and keyboard WERE working before the update the same night.
Any more info that could help just let me know, thanks so much.

Hi ITWorxLA,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hi All!

I'm new here, so I'm guessing as to which forum this should go in. Please forgive if I've put it in the wrong place!

I'm having some issues with my desktop computer. Over the past few months it's been running slower and slower, especially online and especially when streaming graphics are concerned. Webkinz runs rediculously slow, and movies on youtube are pretty much unwatchable.

There was also this odd problem of the computer not being able to properly boot from "off". It would run through the RAM test and identify the various hardware (disk drives, CD ROM, DVD, etc) and then freeze indicating that I needed to insert a boot disk (or something like that). I'd then give it a CTRL ALT DEL and it would run through the startup just fine. I'm sorry that I can't remember the exact error message, but the problem seems to have disappeared after the below actions were completed.

I started trying to fix things by clearing room on my harddrive. I'm not much of a computer tech, but I figured a fuller harddrive might cause some issues. I got rid of all my music and video files and backed up all my photos and deleted them. I also removed everything "superfluous" that I could find (e.g. RealPlayer, Java, Adobe, etc). There was no effect.

I use an ATI Radeon 9800 video card, so I thought maybe if I reinstalled, or at least updated the drivers, that might help. I use Omega drivers. There was no increase in performance.

Greetings! I'm currently working on reinstalling win on my cousin's y580 with following specs:Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz8GB RAMGEFORCE GTX 660M Everything went smoothly until the part where I want to install USB 3.0 drivers (responsible for 2x3.0 USB and 2.0 USB port). I tried everything from installing win7 drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling them with Windows Update to forcing INTEL drivers intalation. So far no luck. Browsing the forum I happened to find the topic: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/USB-3-0-Ports-Not-Working-Y580/m-p/3457050#M149... , where the guy assumes that motherboard is broken cause he bought it with "broken USB ports". That is not the case, ports were working just fine on win8 until the moment win10 was introduced. In the device manager the driver shows the error 10. I also came for advice to my friend using the same notebook with better specs(i7) and they are working fine for him. So my question finally is: have anyone solved this problem for the given spec already and/or is it the case of the 64bit system(not fully supported with those specs)? I am frankly out of ideas rn. Cheers, Hubert

so i can play nice games and what not. but that is calling for a PCI express slot. what i have, is it an PCI express slot, and will that work with that PE4H adapter? or no cause it just can support PCI express since the manual says. i figured id ask B/C its an adapter.

A:Help with EC and PCIE cards

I can't imagine that actually working, or why anyone would want to have exposed components and a power supply sitting around. Why not just have a desktop for gaming, considering that isn't a portable solution anyway?

Simply put, if you want to play the latest games, a laptop isn't the way to go unless you drop some serious coin. That's the trade off you agree to with a laptop, in exchange for portability.

In my Asus Z97A MB, I have an EVGA video card in the PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16_2 slot, and started out with Asus PCE-N15 wifi card and Soundblaster Z sound card in the PCIe 2.0 x1_1 and PCIe 2.0 x1_2 slots. Now I want to put an SSD in the M.2 slot, which knocks out the PCIe 2.0 x1_1 and PCIe 2.0 x1_2 slots. So I moved the wifi into the PCIe 2.0 x16_3 slot and the sound card into the PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16_1 slot...

...But they didn't migrate.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest drivers from the manufacturer, and this worked for the sound card, but not for the wifi card.

The only indication that I installed the driver is that it shows up in Apps & Features. The device manager shows the onboard Intel LAN network adapter, but still not the Asus wifi adapter. (Maybe I shouldn't expect this, since before I uninstalled/reinstalled the driver, it said under "Events" in device manager that a PCI card failed to migrate, the same as it did with the sound card driver, and that the PCIe card "needed further installation.")

The manual says, "When using PCI cards on shared slots, ensure that the drivers support 'Share IRQ' or that the cards do not need IRQ assignments..." but I don't know what to do with that bit of info. The video card has worked the whole time, incidentally.

How do I finish configuring the wifi PCIe card? I'm out of ideas of what to try next...

Thanks in advance.

Simple question really;

I'm about to purchase a BTX-chassi and a BTX-motherboard. The motherboard has a regular PCIe x16-slot.

I do also have a graphics card with the PCIe x16 interface, from my old ATX-chassi.

Can I simply pop the card in the PCIe-slot, or does the BTX-structure require something else like an inverted card specifically made for the BTX?

A:Does PCIe x16-cards fit in BTX-chassis as well?

i'm pretty sure it works all the same, with the slot being the same distance from the chassis itself as with an ATX.

Hi ZooMan.......
the mobo you have is an ''SLI'' board as im sure your aware, they obviously wont work in tandem, & i don't think they'll work independantly of each other either as it would require 2 different drivers...

just buy a ''DVI to HDMI'' dongle
i could be wrong but i don't think it will work.

I believe I am talking about "fake" raid here.

To the point:
I am building a file server using FreeNAS with a PC thats over a few years old, I'd say around 3-4 years, wanting to set up a RAID function with this.

I've learned after a bit of reading that there are such things as fake raid, where the processor actually handle where the data goes, and this is fine... as these also seem to be much cheaper. I'm using a bit older mobo (can post model later, upon request) that has 2 SATA ports for RAID 0 or 1. I am considering getting a card to support up to 4 HDDs.

Here are options I've been looking at.

Syba PCI Express SATA II 4 x Ports RAID Controller Card SY-PEX40008

Adaptec RAID 1430SA - Storage controller (RAID) - 4 Channel - SATA-300 low profile - 300 MBps - RAID 0, 1, 10, JBOD - PCI Express x4

SYBA SY-PCI40026 PCI Low Profile SATA II (3.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Adaptec 2240900-R 1430SA PCI Express X4 4-Port SATA 3GBS Low-profile Host RAID Controller

Now, I realize Amazon.com doesnt give good descriptions.

Also, is there a RAID function build into FreeNAS? I cannot seem to get window shares to work with that... so I still need to work that out...using 8.2

Adaptec has been the leader for decades and using the CARD avoids the 'fake-raid' software implementation. One big advantage is the card completes the operation without the assistance of the CPU.

Once you opt for the raid-controller card, you (imo) really ought to go with
SCSI attached devices which give you hotplug support and dynamic raid recovery.[x]

Be carefull: Even Microsoft does not recommend attempting to boot from a Raid.
Raid is a server function to avoid a single point of failure, and even with Raid-1 or Raid-10, you still need a backup system.

[x]The NAS Raid-x is frequently SCSI internally for these reasons

I hope I'm posting this in the right place.
So I've been thinking of buying a capture card (PCIe), but before I actually go buy one I want to just make sure that what I'm thinking is actually the case.
So.. I want to live stream gameplay, the CPU load gets hefty because it's juggling resources with the stream as well as the actual game I'm playing.
My question to you guys is, will a PCIe capture card take up the CPU load off my computer (The streaming live encoding stuff), giving my computer (CPU) the freedom to concentrate on the game?
This is the capture card I'm interested in, will this do exactly what I'm hoping it will do?

A:PCIe Capture Cards, CPU load etc.

I gather that you are playing a PC-based game and live streaming on the same PC? If so, then the capture card will not help in any way.

The function of a capture card is to capture the video/audio feed from a console, or a separate PC. It will have no effect if the game is played on the same PC that the capture card is installed in.

No matter the source, the gameplay will have to be encoded by the streaming PC. Your encoding settings can be tweaked to find the right balance between stream quality and CPU load.

Does anyone know of an affordable adapter to be able to use an old PCI card in a system with only PCIe and PCIe x 16 slots. I'm trying to utilize my old ' Turtle Beach Video Advantage PCI' in my current system that only has PCIe and PCIe x 16 slots. (ASUS M2R32-MVP mother board) I found something that might work but the cost is like $1100.00.Is there a better way. ( I know they make the Video Advantage USB but I like the "PCI' usability. Any thoughts would be greatly welcome! Thanks guys!!

I have a Dell Inspiron 3668 I7, 16Gb ram, Graphics card, 2TB HDD.  I have a 250 G SSD, caddy, and SATA power in hand to be installed.  Power for this SSD comes from the second HDD power jack (jack #8 in the manual.
Because of reasons I won't get into here, I have 4 external HDDs in enclosures with USB 3 interfaces and I need to have anywhere from 1 to all 4 of these drives connected and on-line depending on the application.
I would like to install a 4 port USB3 PCIe card on one of the available PCIe slots.  Problem is these cards require some sort of power (either a molex or SATA) cable to work properly.  One worry I have is the power supply in this system is only 240 watts and I am wondering if it will be enough to drive the USB card and where will I get the power from?
Does anyone have suggestions or comments?

I've tried searching this forum, but I couldn't find anything that applied to my situation.

I had Vista x64, then upgraded it to Windows 7. I got the companion disc from Sony which included all drivers for upgraded Windows. Everything worked fine, except for SD card reader.

When I insert the card, it does not read. When I go to the device manager and disable / enable the device, it reads. If I take the card out, the computer doesn't realize that the card is not there anymore. If I try to browse the SD card on the computer after I eject it, the computer crashes. (Not immediately. I think Windows remembers what was in it for a little while.)
If I insert the SD card again later(with some changes made) without disabling Ricoh SD host controller in the device manager and enabling it again, it crashes the same way.
It was really annoying having to disable / enable this device every time, but I put up with it.

Recently my computer crashed and my recovery disc was corrupted, so I bought a Windows 7 x64 Home Premium and did a clean install.
I installed all other drivers including the latest motherboard driver, and of course the SD card reader from Sony support.

Exactly same thing happens.

I uninstalled / installed this driver multiple times, but same thing. I even reinstalled it with the "SDA Standard Compliant SD Host Controller" that Windows 7 installs for me.
Same thing.

I have to disable / enable the card reader device every time.

What im ultimately looking for is a way to power up my notebook video-wise. I have a Toshiba Satellite M45. I want to be able to play games better. I have already upgraded my RAM to 1GB and looking into upgrading it further to 1.5 GB. However, my current video card is a complete let-down. It is an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M (mobile). I was looking for a way to make my video performance better. I do not want to take apart my notebook, and i DO NOT want to get a new computer (and i cant) so dont say that. Here are my options:

1.Get an external video card. I dont know if these have come out yet, but i tried looking it up on google and just got paragraphs of people ranting about how sweet theyre gunna be when they come out.
-OR-
2.Get some sort of external adapter than let me use PCIe or AGP cards. Maybe there is a USB connector that you plug into your laptop, and it leads to a box where you can input an AGP or PCIe video card. Does this exist? i looked on google but i couldnt seem to phrase it right and always got results of PCIe or AGP cards that have USB inputs, not the other way around.
Thanks for any suggestions, or please is there is another way to inprove my performance WITHOUT BUYING A NEW COMP, please let me know. Thanks!

-Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

A:Realtek 1xGigabit LAN Controller vs Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller

That 1x you posted from the specs is actually 1 x,

Realtek?, 1 x Gigabit LAN Controller(s)

meaning that there is one controller on the motherboard. Some boards come with dual LAN controllers, hence why they mentioned it only having one. The second will be the name of the onboard LAN controller.

Hello, I have a HP Pavilion HPE h8-1360t Desktop and I have been trying to install a Vantec 2-Port SATA II 300 PCIe Host Card with RAID. It uses a Silicon Image 3132 controller http://www.siliconimage.com/solutions/pc/host-controller/. The operating system is Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 64 bit. The computer does not recognize the card in any of the PCIe slots and it does not appear in the device manager. I cannot bring up the card's BIOS, either. I have started and restarted the computer with the card in and out of each of the slots and it is never recognized. Any ideas on how I can get the computer to recognise the card? Thanks!

A:PCIe SATA II Host Card with RAID not recognized

Enter the BIOS and see if it is recognized as being present. That is where you should begin. According to the information on Vantec's website you should see the SATA ports in the device manager after it is installed.  Best regards, erico

I work at a small office where we have a large Ricoh Alfico 3035 Network Printer. We had just relocated to a new office and I set everything up and it was working fine. Today I tried to move over to a new DSL Connection through AT&T, (the free T1 line in the office was too slow), so I ran an IPCONFIG and reinstalled the printer using the new IP. This worked fine as usual on the Vista Machines, but when I set up the TCP/IP port on the XP machines I get a print error.

I'm lost because I've done this many times before and have never had a problem.

Here is step by step what I'm doing on the XP:

Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes -> Add A Printer -> Local Printer -> Create New Port -> Standard TCP/IP port

I input the IP 192.168.15.0, Install the correct driver, and when I get done it asks me to print a test page. That's when I get the error.

I'm using the same exact settings I used on the Vista Machines which are working fine.

Any help would be great,

Thanks

Edit: This is my first time on here, so hey everybody!
