Preferred Solution: Laptop suddenly turn off when main power turn off.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,So some users have posted here regarding with their laptops having issues in turning it back on but i need to find a close answer for this. I was downloading a movie then went to the bathroom for a moment then when i came back, i thought it was just on sleep mode but i remembered it well that my laptop would only go on sleep mode after 45 mins. So i tried hard reset but nothing happened. I took out the plug (i didn't use the battery so i had to plug it) then back again, turned? it on, but the fan would make a sound then off again. Even if i hard reset it, the fan would have an on-off action. Are there any ways that could solve this?Note: I never used the battery. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 600. About a week ago, I started to have this problem where I would try to turn the machine on but it just wouldn't work. I pressed the power button, the small LEDs next to the power button flicked on for a few seconds, it made a small "putt" sound, and then nothing happened. Being stubborn, I kept trying and eventually the machine turned on. After having run into this a couple times in the last week (basically hoping the problem would go away), now the machine just will not turn on.

Any advice anyone could offer would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Sam

A:Dell laptop suddenly won't turn on

Certainly sounds like a hardware problem, most likely a power supply unit failure.

Unless you are reasonably skilled in this area, you might need to take it to a shop?
Being a Dell, it may be "proprietary" in that a standard PSU may not be suited?

I was working on my laptop when it suddenly shut down and won't turn back on. I've already gone through all of the boot options. Taking the battery out, draining the power, unplugging the CMOS battery. Trying to turn it on with only the power cord  (no battery). And I get nothing. The laptop is getting power as the power light by the plug in is on, but nothing happens when I press the power button. No lights or anything. I am an ex-computer technician so I know what I'm doing but nothing is working. I need this laptop to work and I've already put over 200 into gettingit working . I've replaced the keyboard, motherboard, and the screen. Now it won't turn on. I NEED HELP. Thank you.

Greetings. Earlier today I turned on my laptop and it worked fine. I went to hook it up to a LCD projector, and it shut down totally. We have not been able to get it going again since.  Please advise on how to resolve this issue. We have done all the steps found online regarding removing the battery, holding down the power button, all that. Nothing is working. The charge indication light is coming on where the adpater plugs in, but nothing is registering to the computer. Please please advise. Thank you!

Hello @Tiffany58, Welcome, and thank you for posting on the HP Forums! I have read your post and understand that your HP G62-367DX is not powering on. This could be related to either a hardware or BIOS issue. Did the notebook shut down the second you plugged it into the projector?what color is the light on the notebook where the AC adapter plugs in?Is there any light on the Caps lock or Num lock keys?Does the power button light turn on at all? I know you have done it before, but please perform another hard reset. Once that is complete, try following these power-up failure documents: HP Notebook PCs - Using and Testing the AC Power AdapterHP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 10) I look forward to the results.

Hello Microsoft team,
We need for an application to unplug and replug usb3 - not physically but with a program.
We checked a lot on the internet but did not find answer how to do it in windows 8.1 pro (in c++).
We know that hibernation creates something alike, but how can we only turn down the power of usb3 and return the power back on back via program (in c++).
Thank you for your help.

A couple of days ago, my laptop started powering off suddenly. One second it's on, and the next, no hard drive activity, no screen, no nothing. This happens in an instant and without warning (no blue screen). Starting yesterday, the problem got worse. After the power cut out, I would have trouble starting the computer up again. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. When it did work, I sometimes got as far as the Windows login screen. When I hit a key to begin typing my password (or swiped my finger on the fingerprint scanner), the power cut out. Today, it seems to have gotten even worse. Sometimes the startup process doesn't even get as far as the Windows login. A couple of times today, I pushed Power, got the the Windows Startup Error screen, selected to resume Windows as normal, and bam! Power's off.

Now, this gets even more mysterious. Sometimes I push the power button (after one of these instances), and nothing happens. Sometimes I push the power button, and the power light comes on, and then the fan, but no hard drive activity. Dead. Sometimes the computer won't start up at all unless I remove the battery, pull the plug, wait a few seconds, and then try again.

Even stranger... I have the computer on right now. It's been on for 5 hours, and it's working fine. I'm afraid to turn it off or put it to sleep, because I know it might not start up again.

I was using my laptop and it lost power and now will not start up. On the side where the power cord gets plugged in there is a tiny light and when I press the power button the little light flashes 3 times then nothing happens. Will it run without the battery in? I tried and it still does not start and the tiny light does not flash 3 times. Does this light flashing 3 times mean anything? Do I need a new battery or is my computer dead. FYI, the power button light does not come on and the hard drive does not start. Please help me, why won't it staRT?

Hi everyone,Please help me with my issue if you can. My laptop will not turn on/ power on even after I charge it.  When I plug it in to charge and try to turn it on, the charging light on the side will turn white for a moment and then turn orange.  Also, the light of the "power on" button will light up for a second before turning off.  When I attempt to turn on the laptop without the AC charger plugged in, the light on the "power on" button will not even light up. When I first experienced this problem, I was working on my laptop in class without the laptop plugged in.  Suddenly the laptop turned off although the power was still at 80%.  I plugged in the laptop to see if the battery had died, but the aforementioned results occurred and my laptop would not turn on.  Does anyone know how I can resolve this issue? Side notes:My computer does not have a removable batteryI have already attempted a hard reset Thank you, Vinny

Hi, I came home today and when I pressed the power button to turn on my latop, nothing happened. I pressed it multiple times, with and without some force, as well as held the button down. It still didn't turn on. I tried it with the battery in and without the battery but plugged into the charger and outlet, but nothing happened. I'm not sure if it's that the battery drained and the charger died and that my laptop has no power. Right now my laptop is plugged into the outlet with the battery in and the light next to the power insert on the laptop is unlit. Something of note that happened yesterday was that my laptop randomly shutdown and restarted a few times actually. I wasn't sure what happened, but it was fine afterwards and it said the laptop was charged. I'm thinking these two issues are related, but I don't know what happened. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Hello HP Forum I got a HP Probook 450 g1, it wont turn on. I have it disassembled and tried with a different DC-jack and 2 other power supply, without it turning on. Now the funny part is that I used the other DC-Jack for the battery connection and plugged another power supply to it, now the laptop turns on. If I disconnect the "battery" power supply, the laptop stays on. I can shut it down and power up with the normal power supply still connected. BUT when I unplug the normal power supply and replug it, I again cannt power up the laptop. Please help and advise.

A:HP ProBook 450 g1 - power issue - laptop can not turn on

A lot of HP laptops will not start without a good battery or one that is above a certain threshhold.A very stupid idea on their behalf but it is what it is.  Im surprised that yours works at all and really can't figure out what you mean completely.   There are cheap batteries on Ebay, Aliexpress, Alibaba, and more.be careful of some crazy shipping costs.  Ebay is fairly fast but depending on your location, stuff from China takes about 4 weeks maybe less if you pay shipping but for some things it is not economical.Best if you left the battery out altogether and disposed of it properly as well as take some pics for identification when you are looking for your replacment.

SO... for the record, yes I signed up just to do this post. -_-

Anyway. I have a Compaq Presario laptop, I've had it about 3 1/2 months. Earlier, I was working on it strictly from the power outlet (I have a habit of taking the battery out when it gets full so the battery time won't go down... I heard from a friend that doing that helps, I guess). I had just took out the battery, my dad walked into the room unexpectedly, and flipped the switch.

My problem is that when I press the power button (and I've tried turning it on off of the battery, battery and outlet power, and just the outlet power), the light turns on, I can hear the regular whirring, but then the power button starts to flash, as if it's in standby mode?

I've tried pushing a few buttons on the keyboard, tried pushing the escape button, tried pressing even the wireless LAN button that's at the top... nothing. When I press the power button, nothing happens unless I hold it down for five seconds, then it just turns itself off again.

So... help?

Is there any solution to this?

A:Laptop wont turn on after charging power bank

Hi and welcome to TSG.

As annoying as it can be to have to do it, your best option if it appears totally dead is to RMA the laptop if it is only 3 months old. Fiddling about with it too much trying to diagnose the problem could end up invalidating any warranty your friend has.

The only simple checks I would do are to try and power it up with and without the power cord connected.
Then remove the battery (assuming it is a removable one) and try it again with the power adapter attached.

It could be a problem with the laptop or that the power brick has just failed, it happens occasionally.

My Dell Studio 1555 laptop broke a little over a year ago when the jumper cable for the power on it snapped. Until that happened, it was working normal and perfectly fine. This wasn't a huge deal to me since I was able to recover all of my data that I needed from it and I have my desktop that I can use, so I never really got around to fixing it until now so it hasn't been used in over a year.
I just replaced the power button and it isn't turning on.
I also noticed that after I plug in the DC adapter (without the battery inserted), the white LED light by the jack briefly lights up (for about a second), then the LED turns off. After plugging in the DC adapter with the battery inserted, the white LED lights up, then the orange LED lights up instead, then the LED turns off.
Nobody should ever be this upset and frustrated and I seriously need help on what I should do. I'm really hoping that it's something that's going to be costly/expensive.

Please help!

Hi guys,

I just replaced a bad T61 power jack ( I'm sure it must've been bad since two of the wire connections came loose from the jack itself). The new power jack had all the connections to the jack just fine, so I plugged it in, connected it to mobo, put everything together and still no power.

Could it be that when the connections came loose originally the motherboard got damaged in the process? I felt almost sure it was the dc power jack as soon I saw those loose connections, but i guess not?

EDIT: To give you guys a better idea. I bought one of these: T61 DC Power Jack

I also tried plugging in the charger (which I've tested with a multimeter, and it is also a new chrarger) into the NEW port, then trying to get power from the contacts on the mobo connector (white piece in the picture). I tried pushing down with the negative connector to one of the black wire contacts, and pushing the positive tip to one of the red wire contacts and did not see any power there, so I'm wondering if I tested it wrong?

I just bought my HP Pavilion X360 not even 30 days ago.  I had it on the ottoman and my dog jumped up and knock it off. It fell a decent distance, but still worked fine. I've been using it without any problems, until now. The battery drained, so I went to plug in the power cord and then proceeded to press the power button and it got stuck. I tried everything to get it to depress. Initially, I thought it would have very little to do with the fall,  because it was working fine until I had to recharge and power up. Sadly, I can get nothing to turn on and the button still appears NOT to have depressed (still stuck).  Can anyone help me with this? I don't honestly know if it was due to the fall, or if this is just an issue with HP Pavilion laptops. Can someone also advise on the cost to replace this button?  Thank you!

It won't get to start up page, just remains a blank dark screen even though the power light is on and there's no battery issue because it was on charge all night and the AC adopter is still in.   I keep on having to get to get to the BIOS recovery screen, letting that update, and then it proceeds to restart. However when it restarts, it never gets to start up and there is the same dark screen- no display.  I have to always update BIOS, take out the battery and AC adapter, put them back in, and then it will start. Or sometimes even that whole process might not restart it.  Please help!
