Explorer Buttons

Q: Explorer Buttons

Ok now that I have an "ok" start menu to replace the limited 7 menu, I now find myself getting frustrated with the lack of buttons at the of an explorer window. I would like to have at very least a delete button.
I had been using Qtask in Vista, but for some reason in 7 the buttons don't show up unless you turn them off and back on every time you open explorer.

So any 3rd party apps out there to add a delete button to the top of windows explorer in 64 bit 7?

Preferred Solution: Explorer Buttons

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Explorer Buttons

yeah I would love to see something like that. Its such a shame that they dropped customisation of the explorer buttons, it was so much better in XP when you could choose which buttons to add. You think now that its just plain text instead of icons it would not take much work for some reguarly used comands

Can i have the buttons in the Windows Explorer like those ?

I mean, without installing some programs / windows blinds....

A:buttons Windows Explorer

Yes ... windowblinds with some mac theme enabled can do it .

Alternatively, some visual styles of mac clone comes alongwith explorerframe.dll that is like your screenshot . You may replace those with your existing ones .

If you want to go through the second option

1 . Download a mac clone theme from Browsing Visual Styles 7 on deviantART ( I recommend either Snow-Leopard-for-Win7-Beta2 or Tequilla or JONGHYUNPARK)

2 . Take ownership of explorerframe.dll (C:\Windows\System32\explorerframe.dll) , and make a manual backup of it .

3. Replace the existing one with the downloaded one .
CAUTION .... Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup , and to restore the backup, you need either WIN7 installer DVD , or Download Windows 7 System Recovery Discs — The NeoSmart Files . Without having these two, dont go for a sustem file replacement , it may be risky .

How to delete buttons from a toolbar????? No the ones that already comes with tthe toolbar, I mean the ones that when you download a program, like the Yahoo messenger, that program puts a buttons in the toolbar of the program. I know that you can hide the button, but how can I delete the button from my computer. Please it is very urgent

A:Internet Explorer Buttons

Welcome to TSG!
Removing Tool Bar buttons will require you to find a specific registry key and delete it. Before doing any registry work make sure you back up the registry in case of error.

Navigate to this location:
HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet\Explorer\Extensions\"program's GUID"

The "Program GUID" will be a number string listed under the Extensions folder when you click its plus sign.
Once there click to highlight the GUID and in the right pane the values will appear. Review the "Button Text" for the identification of the button. If you find the one you are looking for then go back to the left pane, and right click the GUID number and select delete. Confirm delete and collapse registry by clicking negative signs to top.

Let us know if that is what you were looking for.

I am writing this on behalf of my son.

Suddenly the Internet Explorer 'buttons' don't work. If you press on "Go" in the address bar, as an example, it depresses but nothing happens. Links work okay. Just anything that has a 'button' doesn't. He called his ISP for help. They went through all the settings which were correct. He then had him type in the address for Netscape and that worked. He downloaded Netscape and had no problems. He continues to have no problems using Netscape. He removed IE (by the Add/remove program) but it is still there. He tried to download and install IE from the Windows website but it told him that he had a more uptodate version and wouldn't go any further.

He uses Windows XP Pro.

Any idea of how to fix this problem. He ran Norton Antivirus and Spybot. There doesn't seem to be a problem there although he has mentioned that his computer goes real slow at times.

I would appreciate any help or even comments!!!!

I think i know what you are looking for,do you mean the taskbar?

If so right click the taskbar and select toolbars>new toolbar
Then point it to the direction of the folder you want to access.Click OK

There will be a new toolbar on the bottom right of your screen.

Hi -

Is it possible to customize / create a button in Internet Explorer? Specifically, i'd like two different buttons, pointing to each of my printers (one laser, one inkjet). I'd also like to specify that only the first page of the web page i am viewing is printed. Something like a macro, i imagine.

I like having my laser printer as my default. I use it for just about everything, except when I'm online. I like printing web-pages in color usually. And usually just the first page. Switching printers and specifying that only one page is printed is a pain.

Any suggestions?

A:How to change explorer toolbar buttons

Ok, so I played around with the other bitmaps in explorerframe.dll and managed to identify the ones needed to be changed. However it seems like there's still a 'mask' of the original buttons somewhere. Where do I find this bitmap?

Alternatively I'm willing to give up the forward/back buttons all together, anyone know how to remove them completely? Or maybe removing the whole address/path bar?

Hey Everyone,

I want to start by saying thank you to all of you. You all have helped me out of a lot of jams this past year. So, here's my contribution to the customization world. Not being very artistic, I'll let you guys create the cool images. My contribution is in the form of code. JavaScript code to be exact. I've recently created a JavaScript application that will install custom buttons to the Windows Vista\7 Explorer Bar and provide the functions to carry out their actions. Currently the script installs 5 buttons and actions. 'Copy to folder', 'Move to folder', 'Show desktop', 'Switch windows', and my favorite, 'Unblock files'. Because it's JavaScript, anyone with a little coding expierence will have no problem modifying it to add more buttons and actions. It's completely free to anyone who wants it. Has seperate install scripts for each set of buttons. A copy of the program can be downloaded from my skydrive account. Feel free to share it and drop me note if you like it.

I have Intellimouse Explorer optical mouse from MS on NT4 system. The problem is with two side buttons (fourth and fifth), after a while they stop working. Their functions restore after reboot. If I try to re-enter settings using systerm utility, it usually does not work before reboot.
I have the latest driver 3.2 from MS.
M/b A-Open.

A:Intellimouse Explorer addit. buttons problem

I have the same mouse and have never had any trouble in NT 4 with it.

Well, wait - I had one problem. I turned off the mouse icon in the system tray and my settings (double click for pusing the wheel in) stopped working. Do you have the icon turned on?

You say "after a while"... what does that mean? Are you sure it is based on time? It is more likely a software issue - you are running something else that is killing the mouse driver. You can test this by booting up and not doing anything - just let the machine sit for a few hours.

I'm looking for a way to make the Windows 7 "back" and "forward" buttons in the top left of the window continue to work even when you have "Open Each Folder in a new window" enabled. Either so that when you press the "back" button it tabs to the previous window you had open, or so that it goes back to that folder anyway. Alternatively, I'd even be okay with a way to put the old go-up-a-folder button up there. As it is, when I open a folder by double clicking on it basically those buttons are worthless since I open each folder in a new window.

Any ideas?

A:Windows Explorer Forward/Back Buttons

This wont be able to happen mate. You open a new window, and for that window, there are no previous pages. you can use the ctl key to close it (ctl+not sure but go to file>and see what it said under close).

Got a vista machine that had a trojan on it. Removed via the Kasperski CD, then downloaded and ran malwarebytes to find a few more trojans/spyware issues. Downloaded a ton of Vista updates. The machine is running well except for one persistent problem:

When I open my Yahoo mail, I get a different color scheme and the buttons that are used to tab to various parts of the mail functions each have striketroughs. Really strange. I cleared all caches/temp files. I checked explorer settings. I started explorer (Version 8, by the way) without add-ons. Nothing had an effect.

I downloaded Chrome to the same machine and opened the same email account and everything looked right.

I am baffled as to what could be doing this. Everything I look at seems to be normal. I'm sure I'm missing something. Any ideas?

Using the Windows 7 style builder and applying, the windows explorer toolbar thingy or buttons change back to an old blocky look, and many of the lines separating the folders and their titles disappear. Is there a way to fix this? The left side of the image below shows the blockiness after I apply the theme and the right is what I want. The right side only seems to work when I 'Test' the style using win7 style builder 1.5. I have also included the .msstyles file in case anyone wants to figure out why or how to fix the button blockiness

A:Theme Win explorer buttons with Style Builder?

I just tested it and installed it and it looks fine to me.
First thing I would do is create a new theme folder and put your .msstyles in it I would also create a new .theme file at the same time, look at Post #38 Here it will show you how.

This is using Test in Windows style builder.

This is when it is installed.

Ok i am a computer tech for a living and i've been stumped. I have a windows ME machine that im working on that has mysteriously lost the back and forwards buttons on internet explore 6 and windows explorer. When he first called me he was running version 5 of IE and so after running ad aware and spybot and avg it was still happening. SO i upgraded to version 6 and same problem. I've check the registry entries that they added in 6 knowing that wasnt it but i checked anyway. I was down again tonight trying to work on it but his internet service was down. So after talking to him awhile he imformed me that on some websites which he referred to as ADULT sites some times the back and forward buttons would magically work. ITs like something has ahold of it and only lets it work when it wants to. The buttons are DISABLED and greyed out so when you move your mouse over them you get no highlighting of the buttons like you should. Windows explorer operates the same way where if you go deep in to a file directory you should be able to keep clicking back to work your way back to the top. I've searched the internet high and low and boy do i hate when i get stumped. Im going to paste in the hijack log i ran tonight but it looks normal to me. Additionally I thought it maybe a virus that caused the issue but when I have tried to update AVG the interface is not displaying properly and any buttons are completely blank and do not show any text.

Thirdly any text in any program is in the same font (times new roman i think).

I can connect to the internet fine with firefox but even with this the font is an issue and when trying to update avg using firefox the buttons on download process are blank

Hi to all, i have a laptop running Windows 7 Professional. The problem is strange and havent had it on any other Windows 7 machine.

If i click the folder icon on the bottom tool bar (windows explorer) then in the left hand pane expand the C drive then right click on any folder it instantly displays a dialog saying Explorer has experienced a problem and needs to close, windows is
looking for a fix for this problem (cant remember exact wording) then Explorer.exe restarts. This happens on the local C drive and Network drives.
I though it could be a permissions problem so have taken ownership of all files & folders on the C drive which made no difference, i have removed the laptop from our server / domain and it is still the same / no change.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem or offer any ideas on fixing it? the laptop is only a few months old and is i5 / 4GB RAM Dell machine running Windows 7 Pro SP1 office 2003 Pro, checked for virus & adware & all clean.

A:Explorer.exe crashes when righ click on item in left pane on windows explorer nothing in system logs, explorer.exe restarts.

The faulting module (Fault Module Name: SHELL32.dll) shell32.dll is a Windows system file however the file that is actually causing the crash may be a third party file which from the symptoms
may be a third party context menu handler.
The following link has some info and a download to ShellExView which you can use to selectively disable third party context menu handlers to find out a problematic one:
You could try disabling all non-Microsoft context menu handlers and then, if the problem resolves, re-enable them one at a time to see which one was the problem.
BTW, the error should be logged in the Event Viewer Application log as a Application Error involving explorer.exe

Hi aca85, you want to activate 3d flip without touching the keyboard ? yes, it is possible . Dunno why anybody else suggested this to you till then .

1. Right click on desktop > new > shortcut
2. In the new shortcut box, type
%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe DwmApi #105 ( copy and paste)
3. Click next, then click finish.
Double click on it and see what happens

Wanna change the icon like that in vista?
1. Right click on the new shortcut ( shown as rundll32) > properties> change icon
2. In the look ofr icon ... box, write %systemroot%\explorer.exe and hit enter
3. Select the fifth icon in third row. Ok ,apply ,ok.

Place in taskbar? Just right click > pin to taaskbar.

If this is what you want Then you should have replied wihhin this time, I think I am describing another process. It's so common

edit: oh darn. html is on in here. darnit. how can i show my code.

original message before i did that edit
hello. i was wondering if there is a way to make this windows button into a gif instead. meaning..you know those buttons right? the grey boring ones that say "submit" or whatever.

i have been able to customise one with css to try and match my site. but i still dont like it. main the text doesnt match.

so i'm wondering if there is a way i can make it so i dont have to use a button, and i can use a gif instead.

heres the code i have right now that i'm using.

<INPUT type=submit name=btnG VALUE="Google Search" style="font-family:verdana; font-size:13; color:81a3dc; background-color:274d8a; border: solid 1px #000000; cursor:hand;">

its the little google thingey they allow you to add to your site.

i have managed to customise it to look like this.

it doesnt show much something odd with host but you can kinda see what i did.

i replaced the yukey old google gif with one of my own and tried to do the same with the button that says "google search" however i can't so i tried editing with css but it just doesnt match like i'd like it to. so i'm just wondering if theres a way i can just use a simple img src code and put in a gif or jpb and it would still work like a butt... ok, a few things:
1. yes you can do this by using: input name="Submit" type="image" src="yourGifLocationHere"

2. This only works with single buttons. If you wanted to have both a submit button and a clear button you would have to use JS to get both to work.

3. It must be in a form tag to work. But it should already be in a form tag.
