How to prevent Windows 7 Professional re-activation after the installed display card was suddenly unrecognized by Windows OS?

Q: How to prevent Windows 7 Professional re-activation after the installed display card was suddenly unrecognized by Windows OS?

Hi, my Windows 7 Professional is activated for a long time. However, the Windows 7 Professional OS require me to re-activation after the installed display card was suddenly unrecognized by Windows OS? Is there any method to prevent recognition
again by Windows OS if the display is intermitted fault?

Thanks.

Preferred Solution: How to prevent Windows 7 Professional re-activation after the installed display card was suddenly unrecognized by Windows OS?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a little bit of a mess today in that I'm returning the monitor at which I'm working and won't be able to work this issue continuously through the afternoon. Nonetheless:

1. I recently and successfully installed the OEM version of XP-SP2b, which along the way had me format the drive I wanted to use as a program base, a 150 GB Western Digital Jaguar (or an animal like it).

2. At the time of that installation, I had also on board a Seagate Barracude (750 GB) HDD. The installation program recognized it, but as its job was to install the OS, it only wanted to know which drive I wanted the OS on--i.e., I chose the WD for that installation.

3. I've loaded a number of programs on the machine, largely without issue (the only troublemaker so far, the software bundled with the now rejected monitor), but this afternoon, I wanted to load data and put that information on the Seagate.

4. Windows Explorer shows only one hard drive installed--the WD--while the control panel's hardware manager shows both.

I suspect this could turn out a BIOS or formatting issue of some kind, but before I get into BIOS--and later, after I've returned the present monitor and gotten the old back on the system--I'd like to know more about what's going on with the Seagate that XP recognizes as installed hardware, but which my account (I guess I may have to look at that too), seems not to want to list as "D:"

Also, the OS seems to believe there's a flopp... Read more

A:Drive Installed-unrecognized In Windows Explorer

First item to check: See that both drives are properly recognized in the BIOS. You will also be able to see which drive is the boot drive (the first one listed), so you can eliminate any doubts there.

Second item: Go to Disk Management and see if both drive are listed there.

FWIW: Windows Explorer/My Computer will not reflect a drive which has a letter assigned to a drive working in the system. If this second drive was an original C: and you have not changed the drive letter, that may be the problem. Since that drive is no longer the boot drive, the drive letter should be able to be changed.

I now start at the end of the alphabet when manually changing drive letters...to avoid such situations as I have described.

Jumper settings are a non-issue, since we are talking SATA drives.

Need help please:

After I switch on computer and XP Pro loads up it gets to the page where you select which account you want to access. When I select my account the system gives a propmt of 'Windows needs to be activated' and prompts for a 'yes' or 'no' response. After clicking on 'yes' it takes you to a blue coloured window which indicates that windows is already active and prompts on clicking on 'OK' to exit screen.
Then when you click on 'OK' it says system is logging off and it takes you back to your account selection screen and this whole process is then repeated.

Can someone advise if this is a known XP problem &/or worm infection and how do you go about fixing it.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Harry.

A:Windows XP Professional Activation

Activate Windows located in start > all programs > accessories > system tools may have somehow gotten into your startup.

If you can at all try to do start > run and type msconfig and look in your startup tab to see if it's in there.

Can you boot into safe mode? ( by pressing F8 during bootup )

A:Windows xp professional 1a activation

We can't help you bypass the activation process. If you used a legitimate Product Id (not one from a friend or other source), then you just need to activate either via the web or by calling Microsoft.

Other than that, all I can do is close this thread.

The serial number will not work. You need to use the product key that is on your COA sticker. On a laptop it is on the bottom and on a desktop it is usually on the rear of the box.

Hi,

I have just taken an image of my computer and used Norton Ghost to convert it to a VHD file. After going through a mini-setup type configuration wizard in which I do not have any option to activate Windows or input a valid product key, it leaves me at the logon screen.

My first and main problem is that when I try to log on, it tells me Windows is activated. I used BartPE to overwrite logon.scr with cmd.exe and ran %systemroot%\System32\oobe\msoobe /a. The activation window appeared and told me that my copy of Windows was already activated. I have manually edited the registry as told on Microsoft.com to "deactivate" my copy of Windows to no avail.

As well as this, I was wondering whether it is possible to transfer the domain of my physical computer onto this virtual machine as well. I accept that this is probably not possible as I would assume that the virtual machine would need the exact same hardware as my physical computer, but if it is I would like to know how.

Thanks,

Richard

I have been using this Dell XPS tower as the original owner for several years. I have upgraded the graphics card, RAM, and internal HD over the last 12 months or so. The internal HD was upgraded/cloned from the original HD that came with the machine, this last Saturday night (5/11/13). After this was done the system ran fine with no errors for about 12 hours and then the first of many Activation Errors, not genuine software dialog boxes popped up. I tried the MS telephone support for activation/genuine software issues and supposedly the error was fixed. Later that evening, another dialog boxed popped up. Under the System Properties, it says that "Windows is activated"

First of all, apologies if this problem has been posted before and solved - I did look but I couldn't find it.
Second of all, I know next to nothing about computers and wouldn't have them if I didn't need them for college work. Because of that, I don't know what information you might need to know - so I'm just going to put everything I can think of!

I have an HP Pavilion g6 laptop that I have had for several years. Around Christmas time the hard drive died and I had to get it replaced. That all went fine except for the fact that I'm from England (where I bought the computer) and at that point I was on in Canada. Obviously I didn't think to bring my windows disks with me. And I wasn't going back to England any time soon. The tech guy who replaced my hard drive told me it was no problem and put Linux on the laptop so I could use it until I could get my windows disks. Or I could just keep using Linux.

As I was traveling around, I didn't have an address to get anyone to send my disks to me until a month ago, when I settled in Mexico for a while. My father bought me new Windows 7 disks from the US as they would get to me quicker.
I managed to figure out how to partition my drive and everything so that I was able to install windows without removing Linux (as I couldn't find out how to do it any other way. No one seemed to understand why I would want to remove Linux!). Everything installed correctly except for the fact I wasn't able to get online to activate it. I typed in the wi... Read more

This might seem roundabout but doing a System Restore to a point within the 30 day limit would work to allow you to activate. Wherever you are, it might pay to just pay the heavy toll to call MS to activate and some 3rd party phone services offer cheap rates if you have access to any phone.

Where did you download that version of MGADiag from? - it's 4 years out of date!
This makes it very difficult to properly analyse the results.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool
(download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- in your own thread, please

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Alright, so I'm just going about my business as usual on the computer. And I get a message asking to validate windows. Well at first I ignore it. I mean I've been using this computer for 2 years now. If the activation had been invalid, I'd know.

But then my wallpaper disappears. And at this I get VERY worried.

Now, I've put back in the product key# (luckily it was on the side of my pc), and it's back to normal. But I'm worried about why this happened. And if it'll happen again.

A:Windows Vista Activation Key suddenly invalid.

This can also happen if you use Microsoft's security essentials and suddenly decide to disable it from starting up.

As much as it can be a pain, it's the price we legal windows owners pay for the software theft that dishonest people do.

As long as you have a legal license key, you have nothing to worry about.

I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but we all have to live it in todays dishonest society.

A:Installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 instead of Professional x64

I know about upgreade ... but never heard about downgrade Probably you are to go for a clean install with professional ... but before doing it , wait for any other suggestions It will not take a long time to come .

Windows 10 update keeps deleting NVIDIA display drivers - how to prevent ?

After each Windows 10 update:
1) get the message "your display drivers have been updated, restart"
2) after restart only one display is showing content - the other one is blank
3) have poor, miserable relolution
4) install NVIDIA display drivers
5) restart
6) re-organize my desktop in two monitors
7) too often Windows 10 interrups NVIDIA display driver installation
8) sometimes Windows 10 does allow NVIDIA install program to continue
9) each time spend 3-4 hours extra time to get back with the working system

Notes:
a) I will NEVER want MS display drivers because I have the ones from NVIDIA designed by NVIDIA
b) trying to deny display driver update by Windows 10 has no effect
c) saving the working system and recovering ti does not help because MS does not include device drivers
to be part of working system
d) new update in correct and guaranteed to embed MS trial to force user to use MS drivers instead of NVIDIA

Is there any WORKING methods to have NVIDIA display drivers serving two monitors ?

A:NVIDIA display drivers deleted by Windows 10 update - how to prevent

The drivers that Windows 10 install are Nvidia drivers....they just aren't the absolute latest, since Nvidia updates often. On my tower, I don't see the same issues as you, but my solution is to run the Nvidia GeForce Experience tool. It will alert you to new driver versions and download them for you. There's no need or reason to spend hours arranging a desktop. If Windows Update is installing drivers, it means it found something newer than you had originally.

Hello

I had made this thread a few days back when my PSU went up in smoke frying my old Gigabyte mobo as well.

I installed a new motherboard today (different brand and make) and since then my Windows has been failing to validate. I called the automated voice service and after entering the installation ID, they said that the no. of installations have exceeded the user agreement. I have been using this same Windows key for over 5 years.

Please advise how I can re-activate my Windows 7. Do I need to reinstall windows?

I tried to connect with their support reps but the office hours are now over.

Thanks

Microsoft is offering an upgrade from XP to Windows 8 for $39.99.

Will I lose anything in the upgrade?

A:Upgrading From XP To Windows 8 Professional: Will I Lose Any Installed Apps?

There is no true upgrade from XP to Windows 8 so you will need to do what is essentially a clean install. Your data will be preserved but all applications will need to be installed. The only upgrade to Windows 8 that preserves installed applications is from Windows 7.

Hi. So I have just installed my Windows 7 Professional x86 w/ SP1 today... the Internet Explorer 11 is just outstandingly amazing! So lite and quick at all.

I've managed to complete with all my software at the same day.

Fonts are brilliant (are well). I can tell that it is +35% faster and "compact on operations" than my old Windows XP Professional x86 w/ SP3.

the after-install setup is short, easy and not in any obligation. Skype runs well. Facebook under IE11 runs well. Bing for IE11 is just amazing too.

Emsisoft IS runs good. Zip/unzip program runs great as well - not of any errors anywhere, at all.

KM Player installed and is functioning well.

.....no problems with defragmentations.

I have resized Windows XP and Windows 7 partitions to 34GB both, I was using EASE-US Partition Master Home Edition, that is freeware (34 - a, 34 - b, and the rest is for storage; I have a small 500GB WD HDD). In future I might order +1000GB HDD for more of the storage, for my movies collection.

Should I take a +2000GB HDD right away?
So okay, that's all for now. Hugs.

...I'll be adding something if there's something.
P.S. Today is my father's birthday - he turned 58! Greetings!!

A:mine Windows 7 Professional, just installed today - my thoughts on it

May I recommend the following?
Don't lose your Win7 install disc and your 25 character product key
--- I know too many people who have done that
Create a system image onto an external hard drive and set up a schedule that suits you to maintain system images
--- Before you create a system image make sure the computer is clean and secure
--- I'm finally starting to do mine on a monthly basis
Create a System Repair disc

On the 2TB HDD right away, it sounds to me like it would be a good idea as least as soon as possible since you mention video collection in addition to more storage

On your father's 58th birthday, happy birthday for him

Yeah. Exactly in the subject. My dad has entrusted my with the task of trying to fix his old IBM computer. Actually, he really doesn't care anymore, he just said if I can fix it, that would be good. So I loaded my installation copy into a USB using WinUSB Maker (Beta 2, if you need to know.), and it worked. My USB loaded into the laptop fine, and it actually installed. After the setup finished, which took more than 30 minutes, I restarted the computer as it probably said, after after boot from the USB, it stated NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart. Tried again WITHOUT the USB, and it still had the same results, instead of it being "Any Key", it was Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart. I dunno what's going on.
The boot order is as follows,
1. USB HDD (My USB).
2. USB FDD
3. Legacy Floppy Drives
4. ATAPI CDO (Buncha numbers that probably is the serial...)
5. IDE HDDO
7. PCI LAN
8. IDE HDD1
EXCLUDED FROM BOOT ORDER
IDE HDD2
ATAPI CD1

The weirdest thing is that NTLDR is ON the setup USB I made. I don't know why it can't find it... Below are the main items and folders that are on the drive:

Well...did you try to install via USB...a second time?

Did you run a diagnostic on the hard drive before attempting the install?

What is the source used to attempt the install?  What is "my installation copy"?  For what system, provided by a system manufacturer...or a Genuine XP System Builder or retail disk?

Hey there,

Just a bit of background: I recently upgraded my fianc?e's fathers compaq laptop from Vista to Windows 7 Professional with the student upgrade package offer. In doing I chose a custom install and the old files are still stored on the computer.

The problem came when I attempted to install Office Academic 2010 back onto the laptop. This version of Office was another purchase using student deals so the product key could be used on 2 different computers (my fienc?es laptop and her dads laptop). The laptop previously had the same version of Office before the upgrade to windows 7. However, now windows 7 is loaded, when I try to install Office 2010 it claims that the Office key is incorrect and refuses to accept it and install.

I'm usually ok with sorting these kinds of things out but i'm pretty stumped as to where to go with this and the Microsoft Office site is...shall we say less than helpful.

Thanks for any help!

P.S If this is already in another thread i'm happy to accept a re-direction, but I couldn't find anything of this nature.

I have a computer that has French language. And I don't want it. I want English on my computer. And I've heard that the display language can only be changed in Windows 7 Ultimate. Is that true? Also, I downloaded a software that can change the display language in Win7 Pro called "Vistalizator" (Downloaded from here) But after I downloaded and installled the MUI then changed the display language to English this message appeared:
And when I restarted my computer to finish the process, I got the black screen of death with only the cursor on it and I got forced to load the safe boot file. Any help?

A:How to change display language in Windows 7 Professional SP1?

Hi XproCraft,
Ultimate & Enterprise are the only W7 versions that support additional languages.
There are conflicting reports about the validity of other programmes adding additional languages.
However looking at your systrem specs and Vistalizator, did you run the 32 bit version??

As you have a desktop you should have a set of W7 discs, i would suggest you try a repair install.

Hello,

I own a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 running Windows 7 Professional, which I bought through my school around two years ago, and Windows 7 Pro was pre installed. Yesterday I opened my laptop and it told me that my Windows was counterfeit and I had to reactivate it again. I tried to reactivate it, but it gave me to Error (0xC004F074), which had the following description:
'The Software Licensing Service reported that the computer could not be activated. No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Application Event Log for additional information.'

I am pretty sure that my version is totally genuine because over 100 people in my school bought the same laptop from my school at around the same time, the package was officially tendered from a company, which I had to pay for licensing for both Windows and Microsoft Office, and my school has an IT department that manages these things.

Here was the information from the Diag tool:

Hi, and welcome to Seven Forums.

This Microsoft KB article may be able to help.

When trying to activate you get 0xC004F074 with description "The Key Management Server (KMS) is unavailable"

Here's the download link for the hotfix mentioned in the KB article. You would use the Windows Server 2008 downloads (not the Itanium one) for Windows 7.

An update is available for Windows Vista and for Windows Server 2008 to extend KMS activation support for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2

Went to get on my HP Presario F700 laptop this morning and found I was in giantland. Everything is huge- windows, font size etc. When I try to change screen resolution, or dpi, or even get online I can't because the window is so large I can't see the 'apply' button at the bottom to click on it. I've tried making the window smaller so I can reach the 'apply' button, but won't work. Can't even connect to my network cause I can't reach the 'connect' button. I also noted that on my desktop are icons that i got rid of a few months ago- things are just not as I left them last night. Tried to hide my taskbar thinking it would give me enough room to reach an 'apply' button but cannot even do that . Have turned off and restarted to no avail. I can't even restore because for some reason it is not functioning. Ran AVG free but turned up nothing. I suspect some mischief but how to set things right? I'm fresh out of ideas (I am on my trusty old desktop now.) Can someone please point me in the right direction here?

i found out about some models but in some specif. on those models says nothing about the windows version, and on others they are saying about the windows 7 64-bit..
i'm looking something on Nvidia GeForce GT 220 PCI Express x16, or GT 240, and in other models for the HD 5570 or 5450.
i want from the HDMI output to have the build-in audio so i can connect my pc to my AV receiver.
do any of you has an idea?
thanks

A:Video card for Windows 7 Professional 32-bit

Both Nvidia and ATi drivers are supported in Windows 7.

Nvidia has a compatibility guide:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/io_1241025430517.html

Ati should have a similar list but any of the newer cards would be supported.

Make sure whatever card you get can pass the audio to an AV receiver through HDMI.
