I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My T440s' (20AQ) fingerprint reader constantly failed to be recognized by Windows 10. The system has been updated to the latest status with Windows Update and Lenovo System Update.  The LED of fingerprint reader does not blink at logon screen. Device manager cannot recognize its VID or Hardware ID. Resetting BIOS worked at beginning, but no longer work today. Separately resetting fingerprint reader in BIOS prompt "No Fingerprint reader attached" message. Does anyone have similar issue? I know I'm not alone.

Just recently installed a generic/ALPS T440s touchpad onto my T440s. Using the ALPS driver to get the synaptics tab to show up again in my mouse options has since killed my fingerprint reader (I believe). I would really appreciate a solution, besides getting a genuine T450 touchpad. Thank you!

I ordered a brand new Thinkpad Yoga 260, eveything is fine and I love the machine, except for the fingerprint reader which is not detected and not working. It looks like a hardware problem with the fingerprint reader :I have never seen him it blinkingit doesn't show up on device manager (and I already checked for hidden devices : nothing)it is activated into the BIOSno trace of a fingerprint option on Windows settings under accounts / connexion options (not sure of the naming in english as my Windows is in french)no more luck when trying to install the latest Synaptics FP driver from Lenovo :  a window opens, I click start and the window closes itself after 5 seconds, then nothing special is happening anymore. No error message, nothing. Is someone with a Thinkpad Yoga 260 having the same troubles or could be of any help ? Thanks !

Hi

I don't have that Thinkpad model, but for what I remember in some other model the Fingerprint reader was internally connected to an USB port.

You can check some programs like HWInfo and check where is the fingerprint reader plugged to see if Windows recognize there is a deviced plugged on it. It can also be interesting for you to grab the hardwareID to know the manufacturer of it.

Which Windows version are you using?
There is also some fingerprint drivers on the Yoga 260 support site for Win10 and Win7.
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...

Maybe you can also give it a try.

The FP reader does not work on my T450s under Windows 10, even though the drivers "Synaptics FP Sensors (WBF) (PID=0017)" are installed correctly.I can get into the Windows Hello Fingerprint Setup (snapshot below) but the FP reader doesn't do a thing.Following the steps suggested in Fingerprint-support-on-Windows-10-ThinkPad-T440-and-newer does not change anything. The notebook is brandnew and I didn't have Win 7 or 8 on it before for testing the FP reader, but the driver installed without any issues -- so I guess it's not a hardware problem. I'm happy for any suggestion.

HiI recently applied the Windows 10 April update to my x270. (Code 31){Operation Failed}The requested operation was unsuccessful". I have checked everything is enabled in the Bios and also uninstalled and resinstalled the device from Lenovo. Has anyone else experienced this issue. Is it a driver incompatability with updated windows 10?Is there an updated driver somewhere please? Thanks in advance

I have a T460s on a fresh install of Win10. I just bought an external USB fingerprint reader https://www.amazon.com/Fingerprint-PQI-Matching-Biometric-Security/dp/B06XG4MHFJ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&....My hope was that when my laptop was docked (on a ThinkPad Pro dock), I could plug it into a USB port on my external keyboard and login using it. For the time being, I'm just trying to get it working with the laptop undocked (i.e. forget about external keyboards, USB hubs etc.). Starting from scratch (i.e. fingerprints cleared in both Windows and the BIOS, and the external USB NOT plugged in), I setup the internal fingerprint reader, add prints, and am able login with no problem. When I plug in the external reader, drivers install just fine.  I enrolled a different finger, and was able to login just fine. However, when I unplug the external USB reader, I am never able to get the internal reader working again.  With the external unplugged and after a full restart, the internal will still not let me log in: the fingerprint option doesn?t even show up at the Windows login screen. The only way I can get the internal working again is by plugging the external in again (so that it appears in Device Manager), uninstalling both fingerprint devices (just uninstalling the external USB does not work), restarting the computer, and reenrolling my fingerprint using the internal. I know there is an option in the BIOS to just use the internal re... Good day,
Got my new and shiny E7470, but there is some trouble in paradise.
Is there a way to improve fingerprint reader? This thing is complete <profanity>. Half of the time it does not recognize the finger and when it recognized, it just takes too long. Updated all drivers and software to the latest, as per dell support suggestion. Still <profanity> :D My old Vostro 3350 FP reader works better in any case.
And the second question is, can the nfc read tags? Installed a couple of programs from windows store, but they do not show the tags info. When the sound is on and I place a tag on the reader, there is chime and that is all. Device manager shows, that device is active and working without problems.
NFC card should be Mifare Plus.

Received my E7470 few days ago same exact problem. Go to Dell Support website download and reinstall the Chipset Drivers 10.1.1.9 ,A01

First off, I am an Electronics Technician by trade.  I have 25 years of experience with all kinds of electronics.  This one has me scratching my head.  This all  started because I had an issue with my touchpad so I changed it out.  During the process I removed all power including, power cord, external battery and internal battery.  Replaced the mouse pad and put everything back together.  When I went to power it up I got no response.  Here are the things I have tried. 1. Hold the power button for a minute.  Tap it 10 times then hold anothe minute.2. Remove all batteries and press the power button for 1 minute.3. Remove all batteries and the RAM module and press the power button.4. Press the reset button through the cover on the back of the machine.   5. Lastly I disconnected the CMOS batter along with all other power.  The last step actually let me me boot up my machine and everything was working like normal.  I was happy I had fixed the problem, but I didn't.  Once I shut down the machine it still will not power back up.  I have to disconnect the CMOS battery again in order for me to powe up the machine.  Once the machine comes back I updated the BIOS to the latest version and that didn't help either.  I am stumped!  Any advice that anyone can give me is greatly appreciated.

i've got a T440s that was upgraded to windows 10 about 6 months ago. after installing a new brother printer yesterday, the machine won't boot any more; it just goes directly to automatic repair, then diagnostics, neither of which help. i tried several system restore points, but sr always fails telling me it can't copy the registry. i ran the lenovo hardware diagnostics which fails in the targeted read test of the hard drive with bad sectors. i am backing up all the data (which is on the solid-state drive ?) manually from the cli prompt (that still works) before i do anything else. next planned step is to run the bad sectors tool). i'm wondering if the bad sectors are where the registry (or its backup) is stored, and if so, then will "fixing" the bad sectors destroy the registry to the point where i need to do a refresh. this is the first time i've dealt with a system with a hybrid drive (ssd for start-up & os, hd for storage. since it was originally a windows 8.1 machine will running the refresh put back windows 10, and if so, will it know where to write the refreshed os files to the ssd and hd? all suggestions appreciated.

Everything was working perfectly fine on my T440s with Windows 10 Pro, I am not sure what caused the issue, May be a driver upgrade touchpad is no more working. I suspect that it's not a hardware issue because button clicks works and scrolling in web pages works. Can't make any changes.  I tried different drivers from Lenovo, Reinstalled Windows 10, Tried Resetting Windows 10 and Reinstalled drivers but nothing works. I would like to hear from any T440s owners which version of driver they use and if everything is well with Windows 10. Just more information about the issue: The trackpad is acting like being disabled in BIOS.2 finger scroll , side scroll are fine. When my screen dims down, I touch the pad and screen is back up."enable touchpad" is grayed out in Mouse Properties under control panel. All trackpad features are fine, only the mouse is not working.Another thing I noticed: when I get to Windows login screen works fine (sometimes), but then, once I get authenticated and get Windows loaded, its stops working.BTW, I'm using Windows 7 Driver reinstall, reload factory image, enabled/disabled in BIOS.. nothing helps.Hopefuly a Lenovo stuff would read this and share some thoughts. This is my second 440s replacement. Hi you guys!I would like to excuse my bad English in advance. This happened like three days ago. Regular reboot. No forced updates or any installation, just an ordinary reboot. But then, all of a sudden, I couldn't work my ass out of the boot screen. It doesn't go in to loop either, just standing there, acting like a d*ck. I've tried ALL F-buttons but none has worked at all. But if I FN-lock them, I can change the brightness and that kind of stuff - SO, it's responding, but nothing more nothing less. And because I can't choose different boot, neither go into BIOS, I feel kinda f-ed (did my motherboard actually brick it self?!)Tried so far: BIOS battery, int+ext batterypack, w/ and w/o AC adapter, disconnected the harddrive, disconnected the RAM. And you know what? The same screen. ALL of the times.Any suggestions? Try to recover bad sectors (if any) in another computer? I would love to have USB>S-ATA right now, but I'm going to use it ONCE, so that's out of question.Kthxbye, love <888

I have recently purchased a 29" ultrawide LG monitor, with a 21:9 aspect ratio. When I plug it in, it recommends a 2560x1080 screen resolution. I was disappointed as the display settings on my thinkpad only go up to a 1960x1080 resolution.  Is there any way to achieve the correct resolution? I am currently connecting to the monitor using the dual DVI-D cable that came with the monitor.  I am wondering if there is a driver update that will support this, or a change in connection method? Thank you To update:  I am now connected via an HDMI/Display port cable instead of the DVI cable. This has not given me the option to increase my screen resolution in my display settings.

I have a dell usb fingerprint reader that worked on Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit and won't work on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. In vista I installed Dell Embassy Suit and it took care of everything for me. Of course vista didn't install its own driver to it. The minute I plugged in the fingerprint reader to Windows 7 it installed a driver. However this driver must not be any good because Windows 7 does not recognize it as a fingerprint reader when I try to enable its use to log onto Windows. Dell Embassy Suit can use the reader, but for some reason when I try to store fingerprints it will give me an error. Sometimes when I log onto Windows it will ask me to slide my fingerprint. When I do this it just asks for my user name and password directly after I swipe my finger. Its not super important, but I would like to get it working. Thanks for any help in advanced! -Kevin
