Compatible Lenovo h50 graphic cards?

Q: Compatible Lenovo h50 graphic cards?

I purchased an Asus Geforce GTX 750ti graphgics card to install in my Lenein H50 50 PC. On the store's website it said that the maxmium wattage output that the pc required to run that graphics card was 150 watt. On the graphics card box it says the munimum requirement is 400 watt. Is this going to be OK? Also, in terms of physically installing it, thew card requires a free PCI express slot. I know nothing about the internal workings of PCs but when I opened up the case, I do not see anything thet resembles a PCI express slot. If this card is not compatible, can anyone suggestr a similar card that would be. Thanks, Paul

Preferred Solution: Compatible Lenovo h50 graphic cards?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It looks like that should work. Your power supply can handle it, and I see a PCI express slot on your computer's motherboard on the hardware manual. I'll suggest to get it from a retailer with retun policy, just in case it doesn't

Guiduf, any gpus from gtx 7xx and up, along with their amd equivalent, will not work with that motherboard. need bios version 8 or newer for the newer cards to work and hp is not going to release a new bios update for that motherboard. at the most i would recommend nvidia gtx 670 since that's the biggest card that will fit the case. if you want to run a newer card you would have to get a whole new computer. a motherboard swap is essentially the same thing and requires formatting the hard drive to accept the new motherboard.

Hi: You can actually install the HD 6450 low profile card. This is the optional video card in the 8200 Elite SFF which also has a 240W P/S. You can see this related post where someone did just that and the card is working fine--page 3 of the thread. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/graphics-card-for-HP-Compaq-dc7800/td-p/1228843/highlight/true/page/3 If you buy any card with HDMI out, make sure you go back into the BIOS > Advanced Menu>Device configuration settings and change the onboard audio setting from disabled to enabled. You save the setting there and again when you exit. Also make sure you uninstall the video card in the device manager before installing a new card.  Don't reboot afterward. Shut down the PC instead, unplug it, press the power button to drain any residual power, and install the new card. I also believe a GeForce 210 will work OK in your PC too. The advertised P/S requirements are 300W if that makes you feel more secure.

Hello, I dont know much about computers so I'll try my best to explain this in the best terms possible. After checking my systems specs I realized I have an okay computer for playing games. I have a 12 GB RAM and an intel i5-3270T CPU core in my computer, that fits in an about 11x11x4 inch case. The one thing is I have a regular Intel graphics card (with a 1792 MB total memory, and a 96 MB VRAM). I know thats not great for playing games and my low frame rate in computer games proves that. I wanted to know what graphics cards are compatible with my system or at least what I should look into before making a choice. Thank you.

Apologies if this has been asked before. I purchased a Lenovo H-50 - 55 computer last month (90bg003jus) and I need to add a new graphics card.  I'm trying to figure out which kinds are compatible with my unit since I hate having to go back to the store and exchanging them (it's an all-day trip from where I live). What sort of card (preferrably AMD since everything on this computer was designed by them) should I be looking for?

Today I tried installing an Intel 9560ngw Wireless-AC/Bluetooth 5.0 CNVi card in a friend's Lenovo Yoga 720 which was having WiFi range issues.  We discovered upon opening the laptop that the black antenna wire was not connected to his Yoga 720's Intel 8265ngw WiFi card, and this was causing the range issue, not a defective card.  However, we had the Intel 9560ngw CNVi card, and those cards aren't that expensive, so we decided to replace the 8265ngw with the 9560ngw anyway, since the laptop has a M.2:CNVio card slot.   After installing the 9560ngw card in the Yoga 720 we found that it would not show up in device manager, and no installation or edition of Intel drivers would get the card to work or be recognized.  We had to reinstall his 8265ngw card with bluetooth 4.2 (poo ). It appears the Yoga 720 has the CNVi slot but no CNVi compatibility.  Could be why it ships with a M.2 8265ngw wifi card.  Has anyone had success installing a CNVi WiFi card in a Lenovo Yoga 720?  Perhaps my friend had too old a Bios version?

Hello, I have to work with special PCIe cards (x1 up to x16), usually connected in a tower. I want to replace my old tower (E31) with a ThinkPad P51. I was looking for solutions to connect PCIe x16 cards over USB3 and found some do-it-yourself tutorials, but I didn't find a kind of cloed box for 1 to 4 PCIe cards that I can connect to the ThinkPad Dockinstation. I found a lot of threads concerning the extension of grafic cards for notebooks like:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/External-GPUs-on-P50-Mobile-Workstation-... But I don't want to connect grafic cards. The PCIe cards are used to connect other 3rd party hardware. For example I need the card "ADLINK PCIE-GIE64" because I only got drivers for this device and I can't use the onboard network card. Looking forward for advices how I can connect PCIe cards to the docking station in a "clean and not self-made" solution. Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

My computer came with a VIA/S3G UniChrome IGP card, which is apparently a Graphics/Video Card with onboard video (or the other way around, video w/ onboard graphics) Now, this is a terrible card- it can barely play any modern games. I want to get a new graphics card, but I'm concerned if I install a new Graphics Card, that because of the onboard video, it will affect this greatly, or if I actually need a video card instead of graphics. What do I actually need, and will it adversely affect anything on my PC.

Hi. I got a 2-3 year old Lenovo Yoga 500-14ACL laptop, Machine Type Model: 80NA002MMX, with the newest BIOS firmware from Lenovo, in which I got a Linux distro installed to a partition.  My only problem is, the WiFi does not work, as there are no drivers available for this card on Linux systems. I tried as a last resort to use a program called "ndiswrapper" to install the windows driver in my Linux distro with the help from Linux professionals, sadly it did not work. Now my only chance is to purchase a new WiFi card compatible with Linux distros (not a USB WiFi plug), so my question is, where is that "whitelist" which Lenovo has implemented into the BIOS online? I have searched online, but I cannot find a list containing compatible cards. I see many users has purchased cards previously without being aware that Lenovo reject certain cards, and that is exactly what many users report, the card is rejected by the BIOS, and the users are left with a card they can not use. Before I order a new WiFi card, I want to make sure the card I order is compatible in my laptop. I came from the store I bought the pc today, and the techicians there were very surpised that Lenovo in fact had such a list in their BIOS, and they were not aware about it until I informed them. They told me that all they could do is to contact Lenovo directly by mail, so they recommended I did that myself, in which this forum post is all about. What WiFi cards are in the BIOS'... I am going into my fourth year of architecture school and I am building a desktop. I plan on using my system for Adobe cs5, CAD, Revit, 3ds max, Maya, Ecotect, Virtual Enviroment, Rhino, and Grasshopper. I am having trouble deciding on a graphics card. Is it necessary to have a workstation graphic card to do 3d modeling with these programs? If so, what type of card would you reccomend, Nvidia or ATI?

List of requirements given by the school:
Intel® Core? i7
12 GB+ Memory
2TB Hard Drive
Dual 20"+ monitors
DVD±RW Drive
Dedicated ATI or nVidia video adapter with at least 1-2GB memory
Wireless Network Adapter
Windows 7 ® Home Premium (64-bit)

The last question is the easiest - I would go with nVidia because their CUDA processing engine accelerates many of the applications you use. I know Adobe CS5 and Maya take advantage of it but don't know about the rest of the applications you listed.

Adobe CS5 added acceleration for multiple applications with the Mercury Playback Engine which is designed specifically for more recent nVidia cards with the CUDA feature set.

I've just found a bargain of a XFX 8800GTX XXX and the question I have is whether it's compatible with a BFG 8800GTX OC2 in SLi mode?

The XFX card has a central clock of ~4mhz more than the BFG, but I suppose that either downclocking the XFX or overclocking the BFG should solve the problem with different clocks. The rest is the same.

Well, what do you people think?
If you help me out with this I'll become more active in the forum again

A:Are these cards compatible in SLi?

Hard to say, but I'd expect they wouldn't be compatible in SLI.

Nvidia says that as long as the actual GPU chip is the same model and revision, and the memory is the same, then they should be compatible. However many people have stated that combining different manufacturers cards, regardless of specs, just doesn't jive.

IMO - Unless the cards are 100% identical, you're not guaranteed that it will work.

I'm sure that's not what you really wanted to hear, but it is what it is, I guess. Bottom line, they may work, but don't count on it.

I'm looking into buying a "Rosewill Silicon Image RC-209-EX PCI External e-SATA x2/ Internal SATA x4 1.5G HDD Controller Card" and maybe im just losing it from staying up all night hardware shopping but the pci connector looked odd to me. Researching it I see that it is a Universal pci card, for 2.3 pci, compatible with 33mhz or 66 mhz.

Now my mobo has only 2.2 pci's but as i understand it 2.3 universal cards are backwards compatible with 2.2 slots, and since the card has 33mhz and 66mhz functionality, the only concern would be its voltage, which i do not know, but which seems from my research to be fine either way since 2.2 supports 3.3volts which is what 2.3 pci's are.

just wanted to double check before i shelled out the cash, that this card would probabliy work in my system.

well i just bought it, will let you know how it works

The 6800 needs an AGP 3.0 slot which most newer motherboards have. They are almost all 8x. But I would go for an Athlon 64 processor. Its alot faster then the P4 2.8 and about the same price . If you're in the US you can get a mobo/cpu combo (Athlon 64 3000+) at Newegg for $220.

Ok, Here is my problem....I'm running Windows Media Center Edition and my computer came with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 vid card in which I can screw on my cable tv cable to and watch television on my pc no problem. Turned on Media Center but I couldn't get a picture I was getting a decoder error, I installed all the codecs but it still wouldn't work, then I realised I don't even have the Intel vid card installed and so I tried to do that but it wouldn't let me, did some research and found out I can't have an AGP installed the same time as a PCI card. Is there any way I can get this to work?

Yes, you can have AGP and PCI installed at the same time, but most likely your integrated Intel is AGP too. And AGP is one device only.

Your mobo disables the integrated stuff when it detects something in the AGP slot.

PSU: 650W CoolerMaster
RAM: Kingston 4G @ 800 MGz
Mainboard: I don't know at this point. I was gunna buy a cheap one that would work with the things i wanted.

I stumbled accross a site about ATI and Nvidia with the 6 & 7 series... ATI had a
Geforce 6800GT vs Nvidias Geforce 6800GS which will show that while one number is lower on one, it compensates with a higher number on something else...therefore - they're the same damn thing! And look at the price difference..

Here were the differences between the two in BOLD text.

ATI Gefore 6800GTPixel Pipelines: 16
Core Clock: 350 MHz
RAM Clock: 1000MHz - 256MB DDR3
Price: $200

Nvidia Gefore 6800GSPixel Pipelines: 12
Core Clock: 400 MHz
RAM Clock: 1000MHz - 256MB DDR3
Price: $120

Anyways since i've seen this i was wondering if any of you wonderful people out there could show me a graphic the same for cheaper or maybe a better one for cheaper etc etc..

NOTE: if you could show it in AUD as i live in Australia.

Geforce 9400 cards are in your price range. Just did a quick search on Newegg and they're around $45 to $54. If you look around you might be able to get a Geforce 9500 somewhere for that price.

Both should be a better than what you have now, though.
