Q: Yoga 370 does not turn on, when not charging

Hello, I have a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 370 with the following problem:The notebook does not start except when connected to an external power supply BUT the battery is working fine. When I unplug the notebook while it's running then it's still working as intended. If I turn it off or put it to sleep then again I am unable to turn it on until I plug it in again. Did anyone else encounter this problem and maybe got a solution for this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi All, Just got a new Yoga 370 with windows 10. I sometimes have the problem that the keyboard is not working. This happens quite allot when i am using the integrated keyboard. It is not happening when i use an external board. When it happens, i have to either wait, or to move the mouse a little bit with the trackpad (i usually only use the trackpoint) ant then in starts reacting again.  Quite annoying, as i use it to evaluate it for business, and i really like the device exept of this annoying problem.  Best regards and thanks for the help!

Hello, I was recently having issues with my Yoga 13 where I kept getting a Driver Power State Failure. I did some research and tried fixing it but I never had any luck. One day I shut my laptop off by holding the button down since I couldn't shut it down any other way, and now it won't turn back on. When I plug the charger in it shows that the battery has power. Anyone else ever have this issue? Thanks.

A:Yoga 13 won't turn on but charging light active

My Yoga 13 won't turn on after it failed to restart. Whenever I turn the power on, the power button glows and so does the batteuWry light, but my screen remains black, no logo, no cursor, nothing. This laptop works when it wants to, but now it doesn't. Was using it a few minutes ago and was working fine as long as I didn't turn it off. But now that it is off, it won't turn back on. Anyone else facing this issue?

Hello, As the Title suggests, I am not able to turn on my Lenovo Yoga 2 13.When I try to turn on the Laptop, the White Light on the power button comes up for 6 Seconds and then goes off. Keyboard lights do not turn on, & the same effect with pressing the Novo recovery key.The battery does charge (The lights change according to the charge levels.) Things that I have tried so far: 1) Remove the power cable and press the power button for 30 Seconds, 60 Seconds, & 90 Seconds. No Effect. 2) Open up the backside, remove the battery cable (and battery), remove the power cable, and power discharge by pressing the power button. Turn on the laptop using just the Power cable. No Effect. 3) Remove the heatsink, clean it and then reapply the Thermal paste. No Effect. 4) Remove the hard disk and then try turning on. No Effect.  Despite trying all these steps, the effect is still the same. I honestly do not ahve any idea what to do now. Can anyone suggest something?  Any help would be appreciated!Thank You!

Immediately, I use Thinkpad Yoga 260 and now have a problem when it is turned off, then the next day my laptop turns on it doesn't want to turn on again. I pressed the power button, it just turned on the keyboard light for a while then died without having time to enter bios especially into Windows (the screen didn't have time to turn on). All indicator lights are on. Some of what I did;1. Press the reset button. This once managed to make my laptop turn on again, but then it had no effect.2. Also i update all software and Bios, but still forced same problem, then,3. I disassemble the laptop, pull out some connectors such as batteries, keyboards, and more. Some of these steps succeeded, until finally the problem arose and I went to the laptop service in my city.4. There was a slight problem with the supply of electric current on the motherboard and it was successfully fixed and my laptop turned on again. However, after one day the problem reappeared after the laptop was turned off. Luckily, my service place provides a one-month guarantee. But, I have returned to the service area with the same problem (more than 5 times). According to them, my motherboard has no problems, as well as other hardware. I still don't get the cause with this problem often arises. Sometimes a laptop can turn on only by pressing the reset button or opening the battery connector or plugging in the power cord and then I wait a while while the laptop is charging, and ... my laptop is back on... Hi. I recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 500 laptop, and I'm quite disappointed. When I plug in my charger, 9/10 times it starts to charge, then immediately stop charging, then charge again for a second. This results in never charging. Eventually it charges normally, but it's completely random and sometimes requires 5+ restarts. I need this laptop for school so taking it off for repair is hard for me but I will do it if there is no other way. I got a second charger from a friend and this still occurs, so the problem isn't with the charger. Anyone have any idea for a fix? Thanks

I bought the Lenovo G50 around 7-8 months ago from the Argos outlet account on eBay, (ignore the fact it was purchased from eBay, it is still a very good laptop). The laptop has been working great since the day it arrived, however, I went to use it today after not touching it for about 2-3 weeks and it wouldn't start I knew the laptop has very little to no charge so before I turned it on I connected the AC adapter. Nothing. The laptop didn't turn on nor did it charge either. No LED lights, no booting sound... NOTHING!
I found many solution on the web like the infamous, "take the battery out, hold the power button down and then connect adapter" technique- which didn't work at all.
I'm planning to take it to a specialist in the following week but I'm still open and desperate for other techniques which will save me money.
Thank you.

Hi.

I'm no expert but an engineer told me (re another m/c) that there may be some protection hardware acting. An obvious example would be if the fan over the processor failed, it would overheat and burn up quite quickly. So the power is cut to stop that happening.

The battery is not a removable one either, so I do not know what to do. Please help, I just spent 2 hours working on an assignment and it will all be lost if I can't get it turned back on.

Hello all. Do please forgive me if this is not the right thread because I really need help right now.

I have an ASUS X450J laptop with a Windows 8.1 OS and I have had this problem for three days now, including today. My Laptop is unable to turn on,it was functioning normally untill three days ago when I restarted the laptop. Then the "Preparing Automatic Repair" restart loop happened. I did not know how to boot my laptop in safe mode,I tried pressing F1-F12 but it did not work. So I changed the booting to DVD through the BIOS and got in the Windows 8.1 "Repair my Computer" or something like that(I do not remember what it was called) After it was finished loading for a few seconds... nothing happened, the screen was blank and nothing showed up,though I was still able to move my mouse, there was nothing on the screen. I then got into the Windows 8.1 screen again and clicked "install" thinking it would re-install the whole thing but it just kept loading and loading... I waited for around 30 minutes.... I came back and it was still loading it said "Setup is starting". None of it worked.

I got desperate and looked for solutions online and none of them worked for me. So I opened the laptop's casing and cleaned the inside of it with tissues and cottonbuds, some parts are still dirty, like the fan and some small edges on the motherboard(I am too afraid to remove them). So I put the laptop's casing back on and I tried turning the laptop o... Read more

Upon reconnecting it started charging for a few seconds then stopped again. Once the battery was empty and the laptop went out I plugged it in again and it went up to 33%, but now it stopped charging again. The laptop used to be a showcased model but was reset to factory settings and the battery is in almost perfect shape. Is there a way to fix this issue?

I have an Yoga 500 that idles charging, meaning that being working on AC power it will hold 15% but not charge further then that. Sometimes but not allways it will hung in between balance mode and power saving mode. The battery seams to be fine as attached test log. I have noticed that the internal power cable is somehow damaged and ordered a new one, but have been reading about faulty motherboards and wonder if this would be one of them as I just got the laptop and I don't know if the previous owner ever took it back to lenovo. I wonder if anyone had similar problems and if there is any way of sorting it out.

Earlier today, my Yoga 3 Pro decided to stop charging.  When plugged in, the battery continues to drain as if it was not plugged in.  I have tested the A/C adapter by plugging in my phone with a micro USB and that worked fine, and the USB charging slot works when my wireless mouse is plugged into it, so I assume it must be the strange Y3P USB cable that is not working.   Would a normal USB to USB cable work for charging my laptop?  If not, how do I replace that "kink" USB cable?  I haven't seen any for sale anywhere and I'd rather not have to pay $40 for a whole new charger on the Lenovo site if the cable is the only issue.

Solved!

A:Yoga 3 Pro Not Charging

Hello and welcome,

The Y3P and its charger need that special cable.  The charger and laptop have an extra set of pins in the USB sockets that pass 20V to charge the laptop.  A standard USB cable doesn't support those extra contacts.  The charger also provides 5V on the standart USB pins.

Your test of the charger with a your phone shows that the 5V portion of the charger is working but doesn't verify the 20V portion.  It's possible that the charger is bad.

When you plug the laptop and charger together does the battery icon indicate that AC power is attached?  You could have a bad charger, a bad cable, a bad laptop connector (or other component) or the battery management software could be messed up.

Sorry I don't have an easy test or fix.  It may be necessary to actually swap the cable and charger to diagnose this one.

[edit] The Y3P is a fairly new machine.  If this is under warranty, support should be able to help you:  1-877-4-Lenovo, 1-877-453-6686

What does it mean when the charger indicator is solid white? What is the best way to maintain battery life?

A:Charging X1 Yoga gen 3

Solid white means fully charged or nearly so.  There is no "best" strategy.  It depends on how often and how long you use it when it is plugged in.  I use mine mostly on battery and I plug it in at night to charge.  I have it set in Vantage to start charging at 70% and stop at 98%.

Yoga 510 (around 8months old) My laptop is working smoothly except for this weird problem, and this problem only started up today. So when using my laptop my screen will not display unless plugged into charger, you can hear it running and working the screen just isnt on. Plug in charger screen turns on, unplug screen turns off, plug it back in and screen will turn back on exactly where it was at prior to turning off. This happens in both tablet and laptop mode. Also noticed when trying to discover the problem that the charger is plugged in but not charging (this could be due to the fact that it is at 97% charged though so may not be relevant)  I have tried a reset (holding the power button in till it turns off/on) and run a scan through Lenovo health -Hardware scan (Everything came up clear). Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Hello, The other day I plugged in my Lenovo 710 to charge before going to bed and when I went to use again yesterday it had not increased in battery life and remained at 57%. I figured it might have been a faulty outlet, so I changed outlets and continued to charge my laptop while I studied on it. I went and hovered my cursor over the battery icon and it shows my laptop is plugged in but it says it is not charging. Hello, I have bought 910 and reinstall with fresh 1803. I have upgrade bios to latest and installed all drivers from support page.using OEM charger and using proper port for charging (rear). Also device is ok with charger because i can charge tablet when it is turn off. Even in bios it is charging, so i know that there are problem with drivers in windows.Scenario is like this: 1. If i boot with charger pluged in i have exclamation mark in device manager (I2C HID Device) - last picIt says that is is charging but after minute of charging battery indicator stops, (still says charging - but it does not). 2 nd picAfter removing charger and plugin again says only plugged in NOT CHARGING. 1st pic.   2. If i plug in charger after boot i have: no exclamation mark in device managerrest is same as above example. I tried all drivers (which are kind very OLD) , tried Lenovo Vintage (ussless), tried drivers from 920 .. same. Three times i have reinstalled windows even with generic microsoft drivers, it does NOT CHARGE. Also there is annoying screen flickering which i sloved by manually add driver from 920. (not completly still shows sometimes.) will try linux and if that will not work, i am going to return this expensive toy. Funny that i wanted to buy X1 Carbon soon... lol guessing that problem is in Windows changing from ver to ver. and Lenovo, who does not update neither drivers or bios. Sad....

Hi all. I've snooped around the first and second pages of google on how to fix my problem (see title), but I'm not technologically saavy and don't really understand what might happen to my computer. So anyways. The 'deets. I've been using my 920 for about 7 months now as a school computer, haven't had any major mishaps with it. I keep it clean both physically and virtually. Just 2 hours ago, my charger stopped working: the charging light is on, the usb-c cable works on other electronics, and the computer displays "Plugged In, Not Charging." I've tested with other cables on this computer and receive the same message. If anyone has some tips, and could explain how and why they work in layman terms that would be extremely helpful! Thanks!-A Noob

A:Yoga 920 here, Plugged in; not charging

What is the charge level?  If its like 96% for example it wont charge until it hits 95% to preserve the battery.  Also check Lenovo Vantage.  Do you have conservation mode turned on?  Those would be my first 2 things to check.

i have lenovo yoga 720 13" inch model, if i charge the battery lights indicator its still turned on even my device after fully charged. so can i charging my laptop overnight, and does my laptop have overcharge protection ??

A:yoga 720 13" charging battery

Hi Ferry-indra,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Placing the laptop connected to the charger overnight with proper autosurge/ voltage regulator device is safe.

The battery itself have a special overcharger protection as described in the manual page 22:
"Battery charging does not start until the Power Meter shows that less than 95% of the total power remains; under this condition the battery pack can charge to 100% of its capacity. This protects the battery pack from being overcharged or from having a shortened life."

Hope this helps answer your query.
