Lenovo Yoga 2 13 won’t turn on

Q: Lenovo Yoga 2 13 won’t turn on

Hi, This morning I turned my laptop on and it was installing some updates. From the corner of my eye - I saw the screen turning black and the laptop shutting off. I immediately tried turning it back on, but it stayed dead. When I try and turn it on, the power light and battery light turn on for a few seconds, but then turn off again. It?s fully charged and I also tried the Recovery button. However, that gives the same result as just turning the laptop on. Please help! Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I see others have had this problem, but the classic ?hold the power button for 10 seconds? trick isn?t working. This has happened numerous times in the past and typically it just eventually turns back on, seemingly with no rhyme or reason behind it. This time, it has been well over an hour. It?s turned on twice, gotten to the lock screen, then turned off again & I cannot get it back on.  It is certainly not an issue of wear and tear-I use it minimally, however when I do use it, I really need it to actually work.  What is going on and how can I fix it??

Hello. I recently got the Ideapad 2 in 1, but I was using it a couple moments ago, I closed it, opened it later and it won?t start. The power light is on, and if I charge the computer it lights up too, but the screen is completely black. My battery is built in, so I can?t do a hard restart. What can I do?

Hi there,i just unpacked my laptop from a flight and now it suddenly doesn?t turn on anymore.when I press the power button nothing happens, no indicator leds, nothing. When I release the button I hear that thud noise you hear when you manually kill a laptop by keeping the button down. Now the weirdest thing: when I plug in the adaptor the fans start spinning like crazy, immediately when I plug it in, I don?t even need to push the power button.the same thing happens when the laptop is unplugged and I keep the power/reset button down for a longer time, the fans start spinning out of control but no leds, no nothing, and they immediately stop when I let go.If anyone has any clue how this could be or what to do please tell me. I will contact the seller on Monday (I have had this laptop for 2.5 years, thank god the insurance runs for three years) but as I?ve just moved to another country I?m not sure if that?s going to work out.Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Hello,I've got an annoying problem with my Lenovo Yoga 700 laptop.Today plugged in the charger and started working on my laptop (I'm sure I plugged it in correctly) but I kept gettings messages about low battery level. I checked my charger but I can't really remember if the battery was charging (I suppose not if I was getting those messages). Then my laptop turned off due to low battery power.  When I tried to turn it on (with plugged in charger) I only saw the low battery indicator flash 3 times and nothing. And I thought that my charger was damaged. But It is not! It is because after some reading I decided to open the laptop and unplug the battery. Once I've done that I plugged in the charger and the laptop (without battery) normally turned on! I turned it off and plugged in the battery and it did not turn on now! Even though the charger was working fine (because a minute before I turned the laptop on without any battery plugged in). 2nd try:The laptop works completely fine without the battery. Then I've tried turning on the laptop and while it was running I plugged in the battery. Immediatelly after plugged in the battery the white power light turned off and the orange light was blinking even indicating low battery level, even though my charger was plugged in.Windows was showing that I had 1% battery level and it was not charging. Then my laptop after half a minute went dead as though I didn't have my charger plugged in and my battery went dead. 3r... Read more

Hey Guys, I picked up a Yoga 3 just before xmas and its been running well until just recently. I have noticed that if I shut the machine down and then return to it later it will often not turn back on. Pressing the power button will cause the keyboard to light up but nothing else. After a random amount of time and attempts it will turn on. Whilst trying the light on the power button will remain on. I have contacted online support and they want me to post the laptop to Germany for them to take a look but this wil leave me without my work computer for some time. This problem is also random in that it doesnt always happen. I worry they will try a few times and not be able to reproduce the issue and post it back. Any one any idea of what it might be? I searced the forum and found similar stories but no real advice as to what it might be or a fix. I have updated the BIOS, which didnt seem to help.  Thanks guys

A:Lenovo Yoga 3 sometimes won't turn on

I routinely have the same issue.  What I have done is hold the power button ON for about 30 seconds. Then try to restart.  It succeeds sometimes, but boy, is this a frustrating problem.

My Lenovo Yoga power button recently stopped responding, I really don't know why. I didn't bump the button or do anything to damage it, but it seemed to have stopped working. I read that the rest button was an alternative, so I started using that. Today, that also seemed to stop working. Right now, the power light is flashing when the computer is closed and when I open it, the computer fan seems to start and then immediate shut off. Then the power light is on, but the screen continues to stay black.. The reset button isn't doing anything.  I don't know what to do!!

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 bought in Oct 2015 that will not turn on. I have tried pressing the power button for 30 seconds and also for one minute and then trying topower up and it doesn't work. I took it to a repair shop and they removed the battery and reinserted it and nothing happened.  This is the second major problem I have had with this machine since I bought it. The first issue was a faulty touch screen that required it being sent in for repair. Now 6 months later this power problem shows up. This is extremely disappointing as I felt I did good research before I decided to buy this machine. Any suggestions before I go out and buy something other than a Lenovo product? Thanks!

So about 1 month ago, my sister was coming from the kithcen upstairs down with her lenovo laptop in sleep mode, she sent me to bring her charger and so i did. We then plugged thecharger in and tried to turn on the laptop. All that happened was the key board lit up and the cpu fan turns on for about 3 seconds, and the laptop does this in a loop until the battery dies. But it does not do this if you disconect the battery and just use the plug, i have tried so many thing, i have tried disconecting power and battery and holding power for 30 seconds, and then pluging it back in. There was only one issue prior to this and it is that the usb 3.0 port that is mounted on the mother board is broken.Note That the charging light does not turn on. My theory's1. The battery is broken, i did test the battery and on the volt measure it said open loop.(likely)2. The usb 3.0 somehow fried part of the mother board, but not all of it since the cpu fan, power light, and the keyboard still work.(unlikely since a fried mother board nothing works)3. The charger port is broken.(unlikely since the battery does charge, but the laptop does not turn on without a bettery).

I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 3.14 laptop from Best Buy about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I have had to send it out twice so far because the keyboard stopped working. It was within warranty, so this cost me $0. Now, the computer won?t turn on at all (just 4 months after my warranty expired). I went to best buy to have the computer looked at and was told it may be a big problem. The computer has no physical or water damage of any kind. Sending it out for testing and repair it will likely cost me over $500. The computer was originally $800 and with its record of needing repairs I don?t think it would be wise to repair it just to have it break again (as it does once every six months.) I am finding it very difficult to get any support information from lenovo itself. I have never heard of a computer breaking so quickly and so often. I sent them feedback, but I dont actually know if they will contact me about it. Has anyone else had success using 'feedback' or over the phone? I love this computer and I would buy it again if I knew it wouldnt have these issues or they would give me some guarantee or discount. Thanks for any help!

Hi guys, Although reading about similar situations, haven't read exactly mine yet, so here goes. switching on results in the power light switching on for a few seconds. when charger is pugged in, charging light will turn on (as long as the charger is plugged in). no screen activity at all. removed the battery and 'drained' the system by keeping the power on button pressed for 1 minute (read that somewhere on the net). i read in the Lenovo manual that after removing the battery and plugging in the charger, the laptop should switch on just using the mains, but unfortunately mine doesn't, just, as mentioned earlier, the power light goes on for a few seconds. reading the manual in this situation they advise to replace the system board..... aha. to be honest, i haven't measured the voltage of the charger, when plugged in (should be 20 V inside the plug) as i don't have a V meter. should i look into that before writing it off completely ? For me, because it doesn't work on just the mains (so without battery), i guess the motherboard is screwed. any more ideas ? any tips welcome, thanks !

Hello all, just looking for some help. I am completely desperate at this point!
As the title states, I own the Lenovo Yoga 2 11 inch version (the one on this link http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-yoga-2-2-in-1-11-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-pentium-4gb-memory-5...
Please note that this is the version with the Pentium N3520, not the i5-4210Y! This laptop was purchased at the end of March.

Anyway, the last time I used this laptop was on Thursday. I used it to quickly email something to the desktop I was using. I noticed it had around 10% battery left, so I planned on charging it later that day.

I got caught up with some other school work and did not touch my laptop until Friday morning. I pressed the power button, but it did not turn on. This was not surprising, since I figured the battery had run out since the previous day. I plugged it in but immediately noticed that something was wrong. The Power/Charging LED did not turn on. The laptop does not POST, and it does not beep! The fans do not start up, and the screen does not even flicker. It is exactly as if the battery is not there. The charger and the outlet work fine, as they have been tested with another Lenovo laptop.

I opened it up to see if anything was loose, but nothing appears wrong. I am seriously scared that I will have to return this laptop to Lenovo. I have very sensitive information regarding my engineering work, and some private files from a company. Plus, I have all my N... Read more

My laptop doesn't turn on anymore. Here is what I have to do to turn it on (I tried many sequence of steps, but this is the only one that works every time):-Disconnect battery and CMOS battery-Press power button ten times, then press and hold for 30 seconds-Connect power adaptor and press power button At this point, my laptop turns on, but I have to reset my time and date in BIOS (of course this is normal since I disconnected the CMOS batter). Once I turn my laptop on, my batter shows that it is charging and it is at 100%. I dual boot and both Ubuntu and Windows 8.1 show the batter charging at 100%.As soon as I unplug my AC adaptor, the laptop turns off again and I have to repeat the sequence above again to turn it on. This happens consistently. However, if I shutdown my laptop the right way without unplugging the AC adaptor at any point, it turns back on normally. This happens of both my Linux and Windows OS. What I've tried:-Uninstalling battery drivers and restarting my laptop-Updating to the latest power management drives from this Lenovo websiteI also read that some HP laptops have software issues that doesn't allow the laptop to switch from AC adaptor mode to battery mode. I believe this might be the issue I'm seeing, but I couldn't find a way to check this setting. I don't think this last detail is related, but when I shutdown Windows, I see a message saying:Closing 1 app and restartingAsusSGPLusBTServerThis app is preventing you f rom restartingAlo... Hello, The WiFi adapter is the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 and the drivers are from October 2017, the Device Manager is showing the network card as working without issues and nothing is reporting any problems, yet I am unable to simply turn the WiFi ON. The operating system is Windows 10 and I have tried the following: - enabling the WiFi interface using the command prompt (says it is already enabled)- trying older drivers for the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 (still will not turn ON)- opening the laptop and disconnecting the two wires from the WiFi module, then reconnecting (still no difference)- disabling and then re-enabling the Wireless in BIOS (no difference)- loading default settings in BIOS (no difference)- installing Windows 8.1 from scratch (same problem)- re-installing Windows 10 (same problem)- installed all of the Lenovo utilities and Companions I could find (still nothing)- windows troubleshooting simply tells me to switch the WiFi ON using either a hardware switch (which does not exist on this notebook) or the software switch using the keyboard - I press the F7 for airplane mode and it says that it goes into that mode, then pressed again and it simply goes back to WiFi which is turned OFF and showing the red X What is interesting is that when I booted TAILS from a USB drive the WiFi worked without issues, so this is obviously a software problem. Any suggestions?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 11 laptop. I am a mechanical engineering student, so I use my laptop all of the time for school assignments involving CAD etc. My laptop is essential to me and I take really good care of it! At the end of June 2016, my laptop's battery died. I plugged in the computer expecting it to charge right away, and it would not charge. The battery light would not come on despite it being plugged in for over an hour. I kept trying the power button and nothing would work. The laptop is relatively new and still under warranty, so I contacted Lenovo tech support. They walked me through various troubleshooting techniques to see if my laptop would boot up again and it would not. I looked up alternative solutions that I could potentially try myself, but I did not want to do anything that would void my warranty. Lenovo tech support suggested that I should send it in to the Lenovo repair facility. They said the turnaround for repairs was about 7 business days. I was in an online summer course at the time and needed my laptop fixed quickly, so I was relieved to hear that repairs usually only took about 7 days. I  packaged up my laptop and sent it in. I patiently waited and my laptop was not coming back. It ended up being in the Lenovo repair facility for over A MONTH. They replaced my motherboard. Upon getting my laptop back a month later, I found that some sort of test software and an older operating system (I think Windows 8.3) was installed... Read more

For awhile, my laptop (Lenovo Yoga 13) wouldn't shut down from the screen (i.e., pressing the shut down option on the screen) so I had to physically touch the power button to shut it off. Now that I can lock my laptop finally, and leave it overnight, I can log into Windows just fine...I'm using Windows 8.1, just s you know. My only problem now is when I shut it down...Once it's shut down, I'm left praying that it turns on again and boots up like normal....but it takes me, like, 8+ (or more) tries before it's back on again. So now, when I use my laptop, I lock it so that I don't have to worry about it powering on; I"m able to use it normally after unlocking it. But what could the reason my laptop shuts down (when I shut it down myself since I can't shut it off from the screen using my mousepad) and the power button being on and glowing but showing a black screen? That's what happens after I shut the power off and turn it back on again.   My laptop is 4 years old, so it's out o' warranty and I can't get it fixed by Lenovo.  I hear it's a hardware issue, but is it an issue with the screen itself or is it a motherboard failure specifically? How can I fix it if I take it to a computer shop and how much exactly is it gonna cost me to fix it? Help is appreicaited!

All of a sudden it won?t turn on at all, no whirring of a fan, no lights apart from the occasional quick red light on the front but doesn?t happen every time I press the power button. I have checked all cables are secure, turned power off at wall and on again etc and nothing.

I?m a small business owner and not particularly tech savvy but I have a small idea of hardware. Please help! This PC is less than a year old.
