I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Dear All,

I don't have any idea about importance of RAM and how it works. Can any body explain me with exaples? I read topic in "How stuff works" but could not understand well. I am sorry for my lack of undersatnding.

A:Information about RAM

Simple way: You know that all your info and programs and whatnot is saved as data on your hard drive. When doing stuff, your computer has to read that data and write some new data sometimes. RAM is a temporary place to hold that data while processing it. The reason why RAM is important is that reading and writing to the RAM is many times faster than it would be from and to your hard drive.

I am wondering if anyone knows where I can download a comprehensive guide to ISO, and BIN files, including their uses and how to handle them. I seemed to be having a momentary lapse of intelligence when I began churning out coasters at an amazing rate before cognizance set in and I realized I should be using re-writable discs for any burning projects I have and know very little about. And what little investigation I have done has left me with 6 different ISO programs, each of which has just 1 feature that the others don't, and that is the 1 I need. I understand what an "image" is, what mounting it means etc. but when I get to the "burn" part, it all goes awry. I currently have ISO Magic, Power Iso, ISO record, Daemon tools, Nero 8, all for the purpose of converting and burning the image files to something I can use, and I'm still struggling. If any of you more experienced users could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hi all,
Just like to get some information. On my computer right now running windows seven home 64 bit. I installed norton 360. My question is when I've run a diagnostic test in Norton it tells me too upgrade to the latest windows service pack. When I go into windows update it tells me that there is no updates. Is this something different that I need to do with windows seven or is this just something on norton.

A:Need some information

There are no service packs yet.

You will need to go to Norton to get a updated version of 360.
It would seem that you are using an older W7 unaware version.

Is there a link somewhere that will tell me what is necessary under task manager and what I can stop and how do I control it's appearence there ?

Also is there any way of controlling what is arriving and leaving your p.c. ? ( I was thinking of adware traffic in particular ) A monitoring process of some sort with a kill switch to stop such traffic perhaps.Does a utility like this exist ?

Many thanks in anticipation .............

A:Information please

There are tons of spyware/adware scanners, both free and paid. As far as stopping all of it, that's probably a pipe dream. How about a specific example of something you'd like to stop.

For running tasks, there are lots of pages that tell you about trimming your services. In truth, my advice is simple.

About 2 weeks ago a small box started coming up occasionally in the lower right corner of my screen. It increased it's appearance as time passed and eventually stayed on all the time. I restored my computer to the previous week and it temporarily solved the problem, Then the same thing happened all over again. I click the "x" in the upper right corner and it disappears for a second and then pops up again. Just can't get rid of it no matter what I do.
The box contains a small white thinking cloud with the letter "i" in it and besides that is "" INFORMATION." Below that is "Active Area Has Changed." There also is a "X" in the upper right corner.
I'm using Windows XP.
Would appreciate any help in getting rid of it.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question and if not I apologize. I am a desktop technician for George Mason University and I have run into a large variety of virus, my absolute favorite being the vundo variations(jk). I was wondering if there are any resources or classes that the experts have used or taken to be more knowledgeable on removal of malicious code(malware/spyware/viruses). While this site and its collection of spyware/malware/virus removals is wonderful, it doesnt even touch the surface nor cover the many variations of each of them. Thank you so much and I really love the site.

BC does have a HJT training class, but it is currently full and new students are not now being accepted. To cover all the variations of malware current would be a virtual impossibility, especially given the many different computer configurations; hence, our staff of trained volunteers offers individual help in ridding a computer of malware based on information contained in the log produced by the HijackThis! application.
I hope this partly answers your question.

And a USB connected, external ,200 GB HD. I don't know if it has a cache or not. I have an nVidia 6800 based graphics card with 256 MB of memory. I use two browsers: IE ver. 7.0.5730 and Firefox ver. 3.0.1

You know how sometimes in cop shows or shows that have police investigations in them, they look somewhere on a computer to find out where the user has been on the internet or what he/she has been doing. I know about (but it doesn't show everything, seemingly):
C:\Documents and Settings\(owners name)\Local Settings\History
I don't know if I'm doing necessary actions or not. I just look in the folders and files. There must be somewhere else, maybe a cache or caches, where more information is kept. If anybody knows please tell me where it is and how to see it.

A:Where is all the information

The information is everywhere. In the registry. In files in program Files and Application Data. It is even on the hard drive. Files that have been deleted can be easily read with the right equipment. Windows cannot even see most of the computer's history. The only way to make sure that no information can be found is to erase the whole drive, Windows and all.

My brother recently gave my kids his old computer (to keep them off of mine).
Problem is he didn't have any of the manuals for the computer. The harddrive is in great shape with 90% free space. The problem is the moniter, everything on the screen has a green hue to it. I can't figure out the adjustments for it either. The moniter is a EMC 768M, does anyone know of a sight I might be able to find out some information on this moniter. Or better yet if you already know how to make the adjustments that will work too.

A:Looking for information

Sounds like the red color gun is gone. If someone was messing around with the controls, then just take it to a shop and have them readjust the color guns. If no one was playing around with them, then the red gun is most likely no good, and in that case the monitor would need to be replaced. You couldn't fix this yourself. You need special tools to do it and the high voltage inside the case could kill you, even if it's been sitting unplugged for a while. If it were me, I'd just get a new monitor. At least that way you'd have a warranty. You could also get a good refurb monitor cheap which also come with warranties

Hi all
I ran into a problem with my WMI. When I first discovered this, I noticed that the WEBM repository was empty, the default namespace read unknown, and I was getting Failed to initialized all required WMI classes. I tried repairing it with Windiag 2.2 with
not much luck, or so I think. What I have now in the WBEM Repository is Mapping 1, Mapping 2, Mapping 3 and object data. The default namespace still reads unknown and I still have some programs acting up.
This computer was once connected to my domain, which it too, went down from the same problem. is there a way to get it back to its original state? No, unfortunately the backup that I had I erased along with my other computers backup. That was intentional
in fear that the virus or bad script would migrate to my other computers when I got the domain back up.

I got further there than other tech support attempts. This isn't really a vital need but would really like to know how to do this. Thanks for any help.

Here's a confirmation of something I believe M$ first announced some while back.

I think it's true to say XP - when maintained up-to-date - will continue in support until 2014.

Hi all
Im new to the site and need some help on removing a virus and getting my network back together.
I dont know what type of virus I got  or if it's still present on my computer, so I hope this site has a really good protection plan. Sorry !
From what I can see, my AV failed to keep the darn thing from spreading throught my system even my DC is out.
Ok, I ran the DDS and have attached the files, Sense I first noticed or was informed of the infection back in November of 2013 I have been running MS network monitor and have noticed request for microsoft.com at address I dont think thats right, checking whois tells me otherwise.
Im presuming a redirector.
Another thing I noticed was looking through win\sys32\drivers I find some of my DLL have creation dates listed as today and the modification dates listed around the install date( Im presuming) i.e Creation date = 3/15/2013 and mofdification date = 10/15/2009.
I ran MS system esentials autoruns and process explorer. I tried to remove some of the unknowen users but after restarting they were back.
Anyway the computer im currently working on is a Sony Vaio with win 7 ultra. as far as an Antivirus its symantec endpoint protection.
If anyone can help Let me know what else I can do
