Enable on board and external graphics for dual monitor?

Q: Enable on board and external graphics for dual monitor?

I'm trying to find out how to enable both onboard and external graphics on my HP p7-1534. There is no option to enable both for dual monitors. Any help would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My girl just got herself a A6-3400M notebook. It comes with AMD Radeon HD 6520g + AMD Radeon HD 6750m Dual Graphics. I'm having a hard time understanding how they work. Do I have to enable the crossfire somewhere or they're already crossfired out of the box? Is there any kind of setting where I would decide which gpu is primary/secondary or that's just not up to me to decide? According to msi afterburner, during a game session(Trine), the only gpu being used is the 6520g, while the 6750m just sits there, doing nothing. Last question, and perhaps the most important: when downloading drivers on AMD's website,
http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-catalyst/pages/catalyst.aspx

Under "find a driver" tab, after choosing "notebook graphics" on the first field, should I select "A-series APU" or "HD Radeon Series" on the second field?

Guys, I'm completely lost here. Any light on the subject would be most welcome. In the meanwhile, I'll try to get her more demanding games and see if we can wake up the 6750m.

Thanks in advance

I have an Inspiron 560, currently using the on-board graphics (Intel G45/G43).  I found an old Radeon PCI video card so I though i could install it and use a second monitor (this is just a business computer -- no gaming or anything).
When I installed the PCI card the system seemed to disable the on-board graphics and I can't find a way to have both on at the same time.
This old card may make my system run slower, I'm not sure, but I thought I'd give it a shot.  Any ideas on how I can have both on together?
FYI I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Thanks

A:Dual Monitors on Inspiron 560 with on-board graphics & PCI card?

Hi BulkHedd,Enabling both onboard video card and discrete video card is not available for this system. The on-board Intel video won't support two monitors with separate (different) screens because you have only one VGA output on the PC. Please let me know the exact video card you are using to assist you better.

Hi all,
What's the best solution to get a decent dual monitor setup for our new Dell desktop?
We currently have two AOC monitors connected one via HDMI, one via VGA but the user is complaining that the VGA one is a bit blurry.
Do we just have to *** it up or would using a VGA->HDMI converter improve things?
How about adding a cheap video card with a Displayport port?
Or should i just be able to set the monitor up manually to best cope with the VGA input.
All thoughts welcome :)

My laptop is connected to an external monitor by the HDMI cable. The monitor does not have the speakers but has a headphone jack that connects the external PC speakers. The audio, however, is still from the laptop build-in speaker though the video can be seen from the external monitor. I do not know why the audio does not go to the monitor. Can you tell me how to enable the sound from the external monitor instead of the laptop build-in speaks in Windows 8 when the laptop is connected to the monitor by the HDMI? I hope the audio will automatically go to the monitor when it is connected to the laptop but will back to the laptop build-in speakers when the monitor is disconnected. Thank you for your answer.

A:How to enable the audio from the external monitor in Win 8

compiler welcome to the Eight Forums.

It is possible that the headphone jack on the monitor requires an analogue connection to the sound card/audio out jack from the computer to the monitor, and doesn't support audio over HDMI to the jack.

The make and model of the monitor would help.

I am using a 22" screen for my primary screen and the laptop lid open for a secondary screen. The main screens resolution is 1680x1050, I can set it to anything I want and it's always using the full screen. The laptop screen on the other hand will only use the full screen if it's at 1400x1050 resolution (max for that screen, IBM Thinkpad T43). With the large 22" screen I have no trouble reading the screen at high resolutions, the screen is huge, with the little 14" screen though I have to strain to read the screen at 1400x1050.

The problem is when I set the laptop screen to anything lower than 1400x1050, it uses less of the screen. Preferrably I want it at 1280x1024 or 1024x768 (I dont know which I want yet as I can't see the freaking screen at that resolution). At 1280x1024 for instance the useable screen is just a box in the middle, so the "1280x1024" is still barely readable for me cause it's shrunk from full screen, plus it's just annoying only using a portion of the screen.

I have played with the ATI Control Center, the Thinkpad display settings and windows display settings and just cannot get this thing to go full screen at lower resolutions when docked and using the external monitor.

Anyway to resolve this?

They both worked fine. I upgraded to 2 24" monitors with a 1920x1200 resolution. The laptop is not recognizing the second monitor. I have tried:dual display port (dock side) to mini display port (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizeddual dvi (dock side) to HDMI (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizedI ruled out monitor and cable problems by swapping...each by itself works fine. However, its not an ideal solution because it would interfere with the monitors ports which I want to use for a second PC. UPDATE 2 - OK, now I am beyond aggrivated. A:Second monitor not detected: T430s with Mini Dock Plus Series 3 dual external monitor

Fixed; was a driver issue. Problem seems exclusive to a Dell u2415 on DP port 1 only of the dock or to the laptop's DP port (at least for the couple monitors I tried). It's possible it could affect other monitors. My starting point: 9.18.13.4535 / 9.17.10.2843 (Nvidia /  Intel) The latest driver from Lenovo is 9.18.13.4535 / 8.15.10.2725. I'm not sure how i have a slightly newer Intel, but that's what it was. I couldn't install the Lenovo driver. I also couldn't install a newer driver from Intel (10.18.10.4276). In both cases Windows or the Intel installer stopped me saying the mfr provided the drivers and that the installed version was up to date. I worked around by first rolling back the Intel driver. The manual (.zip) install of the latest intel driver worked. This immediately fixed the Dell u2415 on DP port 1 and laptop's built-in DP port.

Using Lenovo Thinkpad USB-C dock  connected to the USB-C port and connecting the dock to the screens using Displayport-  in this case none of the monitor worked. Is there something I'm doing wrong here?  I also tried to update the computer's BIOS but it didn't helped. Thanks!

Hey all,
I've got a bunch of HP Compaq dc5800 and dc6000 small form factors in the office I do IT support for. A couple of the employees have requested the use of multiple monitors, but I quickly discovered that the standard video card in these models does no support this function. I have looked on-line for an appropriate card replacement, but haven't found one that will fit into the compact design of the small form factor PCs.

Does anyone know of a specific make/model of graphics card that will fit? It doesn't need to be super powerful, just capable of running two monitors, (typically they have both a VGA and DVI port).

Thanks for your help.

Sorry about this, I have no idea in the cable connection and everything. I have tried Google'd but my searching abilities sucks.

Gentlepeople,

Good Day !!!

Is it possible to connect a external monitor with Tecra S5-12L and use both display at the same time.

My Laptop details: http://www.toshiba.nl/innovation/jsp...U&ERROR=0#tab7;

OS: Win7 32 bit

I had installed value added package from toshiba but still i cannot able to connect and use laptop display and the 2nd monitor at the same time. i.e my PC is not detecting the 2 monitors at the same time.

If i connect the external monitor and restart the PC then my PC takes the external monitor as a main display and the laptop screen is not detected any more.

If i disconnect the external monitor and restart the PC then the PC monitor acts as a primary monitor and after the booting up in connecting the external monitor the PC is not detecting any more.

Before i used to use to connect it with TV and i can get the TV and the PC monitor to work at the same time but at the time i was using Windows XP. Now connecting to TV, I cannot able to get the TV and the laptop screen working at the same time.

Is it true that we cannot able to use the PC monitor and an external monitor at the same time ? or is there any settings that i should perform to get the dual monitors working ? Please share your view if its know.. thanks...

There is no problem in the cable nor the monitor as i tested it with other PC(ASUS, Win 7 64 bit) and its working fine.

Is there any limitation in hardware or its just software issue/settings.
Please support !!!

Problem:
Windows freezes., from 10 minutes from logging in to a few hours of use.
Mouse able to move but can't click anything.

Details:
Freezing started after I sold my graphics card, went back to Intel's on board graphics, and changed my motherboard and installed the drivers and utilities found on the manufacturer's website.

My attempts at troubleshooting:
Installed the drivers found in the graphics card section here.
-Still Froze-

Disconnected my second monitor.
-Still froze, but it took longer-

Uninstalled most of my recently installed programs and updates, including most of the drivers and utilities I found from the motherboard manufacturer's website.

-Still froze but not after 30 minutes of logging in like before-

Set the Performance options in the Advanced System Settings to Best performance but I enabled transparent glass and smooth edges of screen fonts. (I also reconnected my 2nd monitor.)
-I thought the problem was fixed but it still froze a few hours later.-

Current situation:
Currently freeze free after my last hard reset after my last attempt. I don't know if it will last though.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading.

Hey guys,
Very simple question here. I wanted to set up a dual monitor thing on my Dv6-1352. I believe it has this integrated graphics chip : IntelŽ Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD. I wanted to use the dual monitor capabilities on it, but I was wondering if over time, extended use of the graphics card due to dual monitors would make it over heat/kill it. I don't plan on playing games, just using it cuz A) Its pretty cool B)It'd help increase efficiency in my engineering school work documents which requires I have a lot of things open at the same time.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Can anyone tell me whether the Elitebook 2540p notebook or 2740p tablet can support dual monitors simultaneosly when used with a docking station I would assume that one monitor would be driven from the VGA socket, the other from DisplayPort If so, what range of screen resolutions are supported? I am looking to buying one of these models, but I need to know if this functionality is supported. ThanksJohn

A:Dual external monitor support with docking station on EliteB...

From HP: The key with supporting dual-monitors at the same time is that it requires that the notebook have dedicated graphics in there - which is not an option in the 2540p.  The first and smallest notebook to support this in the EliteBook line is the 14.0" 8440p - or we could look to the ProBook 6450b as another option too now. In a nutshell HP is being cheap or complacent.  I don?t get why they are sticking with Intel?s castrated graphics solution and why on the docking stations that do have deticated video like the fore mentioned 8440p they don?t enable 2 DVI-I (that?s Analog + DualLink Digital) instead of a single DVI-D and VGA. And the thing that really annoys me is that the intel intregated chip is capable of doing according to Intel own docs. AMD?s fusion can not come soon enough IMO.

Hello,

I bought a new graphics card:
EVGA 512-P2-N738-LR GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI-Express Graphics Card
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011FKI3M/ref=oss_product

to hook up my two monitors simultaneously.

I installed it on my desktop, installed the drivers, everything looks good except the Digital Input won't pick up a signal.

Im new to dual monitors, so I don't know if maybe I'm doing something wrong. At the moment, I only have one monitor, as the 2nd one will arrive on Monday.

On my graphics card, I have a VGA cable going from my GCard to my Monitor and it works perfectly. Whenever I unplug all the cables and switch to my DVI cable from GCard to Monitor and switch signal on my monitor from Analog to Digital, it doesnt pick up anything. It goes straight to power save mode.

This is the DVI cable I bought.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KZW9WM/ref=oss_product

Everything looks good, but I'm stuck at the moment and don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

A:Just bought a Dual Monitor Graphics Card. DVI signal won't work.

So the VGA to VGA works. The DVI to DVI doesn't work.

The Video Card came with a DVI to VGA Adapter. So I decided to unplug everything. Connect the DVI to VGA adapter to the DVI Port of the graphics card and connect a VGA Cable to the end of that adapter to the monitor. So DVI Out/DVI-VGA Cable/VGA to VGA to Monitor and got (again) no signal under Analog or Digital.

Im stuck. I dont know what to do

Any thoughts? Thanks guys

My computer has onboard graphics ( Nvidia geforce 7025/nforce 630a) which works fine.

When I first made the installation the connection to the TV worked. It displayed my desktop etc. When I turned it off I was unable to get the signal back on the TV. I would like to know if there is anyway to detect an external monitor using the standard VGA Graphics Adapter as my graphics card.

A:External Monitor using Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

Welcome to seven forums. IMO You should first read through thie thread and get your graphics card driver installed, then you shouldn't have any problems. Fabe Windows not recognizing NVidia GeForce 8400M GT

I am trying to connect my Yoga 730 to my two external screens through a Hyper Drive USB-C docking (GN30B), and for some reason the second screen is not detected. Both the laptop and the dock is new, and I was told by the rep in the store that this works. I have also ran all updates. Any assistance is highly appreciated!

Ok.. I'll try to keep this breif. I bought this laptop SPECIFICALLY for the capability to run 2 external monitors via Thunderbolt 3. I have spent thousands of dollars on the laptop, monitors, and cables and put hours of research into making sure everything was compatible and it won't work.  My setup is as follows: Thinkpad T580 with TB3 portTB3 to Dual DisplayPort Adapter(x2)Monitors are both 32" Samsung 1080P monitors at 60hz (NOT 4k) Here's what I have done: Updated display drivers directly from Intel(newer than Lenovo provides)Updated BIOSUpdated FirmwareBought MULTIPLE adapters thinking it was possible an adapter problem.Bought MULTIPLE cables thinking it could be a cable problemI called Lenovo tech support and, after 10 minutes of convincing the tech that my laptop even has a TB3 port he obviously was unable to resolve it so I was mailed a new motherboard and a tech came to my house and swapped the board out. Same issue.  The laptop detects only ONE monitor at a time. If I plug them both in to the displayport adapter, one of them will work, the other will say it's not connected. If I unplug the monitor that is on, the previously undetected monitor will immediately be detected and turn on.  If I plug the undetected monitor into the HDMI slot it will detect and output. But this is NOT the functionality that I have spent thousands of dollars for.   I am out of ideas and now quite sure that, even though the marketin... Read more

I have a Dell laptop on a docking station running Windows 7. Everyday I place it on the docking station and use my 20 inch monitor. Is it possible to activate the dual monitor feature and use the 20 inch as the primary and use the open laptop as the secondary monitor? If so, what should my settings be?

A:How do I configure dual monitors with laptop on docking station and external monitor?

The value of 'Multiple displays' (see attachment) should be 'Extend these displays.' You may have to switch the positions of the two monitors (at the top of that window).

Hello, am the proud new owner of a T550 type 20CK and ProDock. The ThinkPad itself has the 3K (2880 by 1620) LCD panel. I want to use this machine at my desk with an external 4K (3840x2160) monitor so that windows can move from screen to screen without scaling. But the Screen Resolution section of Windows 8.1 control panel only shows a max resolution for the external screen of 2560x1440. The hardware is supposed to be able to do this. I think I need a better driver. Explanation: Graphics are from the Intel HD Graphics 5500 onboard chip. The spec sheet for my machine, here, http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/164?MT=20CK  says  "Intel HD Graphics 5500 in processor only, or Intel HD Graphics 5500 in processor and NVIDIA GeForceŽ 940M, 1GB memory (discrete models are only available in Western Europe); supports external analog monitor via VGA and digital monitor via Mini DisplayPort; supports three independent displays; Max resolution: [email protected] (DP via mDP cable); [email protected] (VGA)" Yet this resolution is not selectable. The Intel HD graphics 5500 driver updated by Lenovo System Update is dated 11/18/2014, pretty old. Intel's site has a driver dated 3/6/2015. But the system will not let me install this driver saying my system needs a custom driver I must obtain from Lenovo. Please help! Bryan

How are you connecting the monitor? DisplayPort? Have you tried plugging it into the laptop directly? I have the same question - I just received my T550 today, got the Pro dock, and I am waiting on a 3440x1440 monitor. Hoping that everything works...

OK so this is really frustrating. Everything was working fine, both external monitors were using 1920x1080 no problem. All I did was update the graphics driver set (both the intel and the nvidida in a single installation package provided on the Lenovo site) and now suddenly only one of my two external monitors is stuck at 1440x900. The other one is currently set to 1920x1080 and working in that resolution fine. When I open the laptop lid, both the laptop screen and the one external monitor display at 1920x1080 but the one is still stuck in 1440x900. The cables used to connect the monitors are the same as they were before the drive update. Both cables are HDMI to displayport cables.  The laptop is a Thinkpad P50. Any one have any ideas?

Hello, I've got a p73 (ubuntu 19.10 installed) with the E-2276M cpu and I'd like to connect an external monitor.  I'm using the NVIDIA GPU for machine learning (and it's thus unavailable as a video card).  However, when I select the intel chipset, the external monitor (connected via HDMI) is not detected. In some of the forums, I see that the p70 seems to have had the discrete graphics hardwired to the HDMI port and the workaround was to use the mini displayport.  However, the p73 doesn't have a displayport and even when I use to the usbC connector, the external monitor is not detected. Anyone have any thoughts on why I can't use the intel chip for an external display?

I have an HP monitor connected to the HDMI port on my Dell Inspiron 5559.  When I boot up, the HP monitor is asleep.  If I right-click on my desktop and choose Intel Graphics Settings -> Multiple Displays -> Detect, the HP monitor wakes up immediately and my display is Extended to the monitor.

How can I get my laptop to boot up in this configuration?  (with my display extended to the external monitor)
